Tall Flat White from Starbuck's

Ordered a tall flat white which is expresso & steamed milk only and instead got a bunch of foam and less than 4 oz. of liquid. A tall is 8 oz and the cup can hold even more. Either the barista is not paying attention to the label on the cup, or they need to be retrained how to make the different drinks. As others have said, they are frequently out of baked items and various milk substitutes.

Went in here on Sunday morning to do some work (and to avoid the office setting) and this place was great. The only downside (which I'll put first) is the service isn't overly friendly, but that could have been because it was 9am too. The service was quick and efficient and got the orders in and out..which can sometimes be a hit and miss in Chicago Starbucks. They are often understaffed and slow, but this one had four people working, which was great. The atmosphere was great. Brick walls, great art, and a cool, vintage phone booth in one corner. The tables also had tabletop chargers that work for any device (Apple, Samsung, Lenovo, etc). It's great for working with a couple of devices at once so you can get work done without so many wires all over. Great Starbucks..if only all of them were like this.

This Starbucks was once a diner (confirmed by Winter from http://www.starbuckseverywhere.net/). This location has all the great elements that you could want: booths, oversided chairs, a fireplace, exposed brick, tables/workspaces, and a fairly friendly staff (check out my posted pictures). The 3 times that I've been there the employees were friendly and after my drink was made engaged in small talk with me. This store is one of the most unique in terms of design space and elements. Well worth the trip and the metered parking.

Only phone booth I've ever seen in a Starbucks!

The shop is sparsely decorated but seems to be a real staple in the community, which felt special to visit as an outsider. My friend and I both ordered egg and goat cheese bagel sandwiches. I ordered an iced lavender matcha and my friend ordered a cappuccino. The sandwiches were made with boiled eggs, which felt extremely odd. The egg type was not clarified on the menu, but I feel like for a breakfast sandwich to include a boiled egg instead of a traditional fried or scrambled egg, that should be disclosed to customers with some sort of expectations. My friend said the cappuccino was "just like every other cappuccino I've ever had." The lavender matcha really just tasted like a regular matcha. It was good but not much lavender flavor! Our food also took a bit to come out, despite the coffee shop being empty (only one other person already dining when we came in) and what we ordered. It looked like there were only two workers. I personally wouldn't visit Sipping Turtle Cafe again, unfortunately. There are a lot of other great options around that satisfy me more.

I don't know what sorcery they are using to bake these scones, but they are not your average dry, flaky pastry. They are moist, gooey, huge, heavy on flavors and ingredients, and always delicious. I'm tempted to ask the owner to start texting me the scone flavors of the day so I never miss my favorites. Top 5 scones: - Peaches and cream - Cherry chocolate - Vanilla chai and/or vanilla rosemary (can't pick) - Lemon ginger - Chocolate caramel pecan Obviously I'm a sweet pastry person, but they also always have a couple of savory options like ham jalapeño cheddar, goat cheese, etc. I had one that was like blackberry habanero one time?? So good and so unique. Thank you, Ritual, for always feeding me scones :)

I got the 16 oz. iced latte which only comes with two shots of coffee, but I asked for an extra shot to be put in. The latte was fine. The espresso flavor was definitely very strong, but nothing unique or experimental. This is pretty typical of Counter Culture beans since they tend to stick to mainstream preferences. Overall, chill spot. The coffee is reliable, and the interior is cozy.

Treat yo' self. Amazing food, great selection, and everything I've tried has been delicious…read more That said, the service/ordering experience could use a little TLC. There's currently no reliable way to place a to-go order ahead of time: their phone number isn't listed, the website advertises online ordering but it never seems to work, and the delivery apps are hit or miss at best. I'd honestly order from here a lot more often if I could easily place an order while out walking my dogs and pick it up later. Some items, like the breakfast wraps, take a bit to prepare, so without advance ordering I often end up going somewhere more convenient instead.

Do yourself a favor, and let yourself splurge a little at Au Levain. (They freeze great too if you want to savor them). I haven't tried their breakfast sandwich, because I'm not a big pork sausage person-- would love if they had more variations of a breakfast sandwich! You can also order a toasted english muffin that comes with fresh butter and a homemade jam.. it's so simple but addicting. I have had their Lox English Muffin a couple of times, and if you love Lox, it's GREAT. Really good balance of cream cheese/veggie/lox ratio.. though Lox is always so overpowering so it's most of what you're going to taste. If you are a quiche person, PLEASE try theirs. The creativity in their rotating flavors, and their perfect crust, are a must-try. It's soooo well done. Every pastry I've tried has been spectacular, from their almond blackberry croissant to the pistachio escargot, to their donuts.. I don't think you can go wrong. Their cinnamon roll is next on my list.. but I need to try it when I'm with 2-3 other people because it is GINORMOUS. I don't trust that I wouldn't eat the whole thing by myself. Their coffee is good, but there's nothing special to me about it! I come here for their fresh pastries and eats. They have free wifi and it's fairly quiet, so a good place to knock out some work or have a good conversation with a friend. It's neat, clean, and bright with a good amount of seating. This place is right next to my therapy office, so I frequent it a couple of times a month, and I have always felt welcomed and cared for by their employees. If you are eating there, they will go the extra mile to bring your food to your table and make sure you have everything you need. Highly recommend!!
