I figured I'd pull into the nearest gas station and then get some juice and a candy bar to hold me over before I went home and fixed myself some real food. The gas attendant ran my card through the gas pump machine, and when he came back, I was asking him if I could but something at the store, noticing the light was off. He said, "It's not a store. It's a coffee shop and they are closed." I was at a loss for words because I didn't know how I was going to make it to the next location to find something to drink or eat as my adrenaline and every other hypo symptom was starting to stir. I told him, "My blood sugar is low. I need something sweet." I felt silly telling him this because it's very personal to me. He thought fast, and asked the Espresso guy if he could get me something sweet. The espresso guy asked me if I'd like some muffin tops but I asked if I could get a sweet drink as it gets hard for me to chew or swallow when I get like this. He asked me what flavor I want d and I said, "No preference, just a sweet drink." The gas station guy brought me the drink from the espresso shop and they told me it was on them when I asked how to pay. That was super nice and I am grateful there's helpful.people out there.
