As other yelpers have noted, this Starbucks is huge! I was super lucky and was able to find a small table all to myself while I cranked out my hardcore studying amongst the sea of diligent students. The music selection isn't always the best, I used to love the hipster, indie music that Starbucks would play -- now it's just strange noises and an occasional top 40 playing a tad too loud. This is a really large Starbucks location. A lot of people are here on their laptops or sell phones are sitting across the table from someone and what would appear to be a meeting type situation. It is kind of loud in here, and although there was no one in line in front of me I have to wait for the employees to finish the conversations before helping me. The service, ask for a grande triple shot cinnamon dolce latte, 2 pumps with no whip cream. Turned out, I had to swipe 13 times to process my order, and the lady gave me an attitude as if I owe her something/I shouldn't be in here. Drive down towards Allen street. Baristas there are much more friendlier, service is a ton better. Cons at that location is parking. Don't forget to grab a ticket for parking or your vehicle might end up being towed. read more

The lovely woman working on Easter evening changed my opinion of this place. I swore never to go back after time and time again of waiting twenty minutes for a wrong drink or rude people working at this location making you feel dumb. Needing a boost after work I stopped in. She went above and beyond helping me find a drink I would enjoy. I normally don't drink tea, so she offered to make me something not on the boards that tell u what they have. I saw Wentworth Miller. This makes Starbucks at West Village my favorite spot to "pop a squat". As a reformed Bapti-Metho-costal, I love to people watch, judge, and generally be petty in my leisure time. The location is perfect for reading, relaxing, and meeting strangers from online dating sites. It can get loud and crowded at times so if you have anxiety around groups of people, "stay out this mug". I like people who ignore me so I can pretend to ignore them. The only reason why I did not give this place a 5, is because it was a little crowded when I went. Well, its a starbucks alright... but when you check out the door it says "Enter and you shall be rewarded" me thinks... damn, mighty high on yourself ain't ya? Then I think rewarded? With what? Flying monkeys? Bad music? Hermits in public? The busy lady behind the counter was efficient, but less then warm. The poor woman doin the drink deeds look waaaaay worn out and tired as hell of people! The place was generally disheveled in that starbucks were busy as hell kinda way and you can't get eye contact in this place if you were bleeding to death. What I mean is that EVERYONE is in their space, glued to a screen (much like I am right now) enjoying the wifi. It is right by an M-Street trolley stop if that helps, but I sure miss the idea of local grungy coffee shops! read more

This particular Starbucks is a BUSY one and a great people watching spot and I was privy to both scenes. The people watching was great! From the professionals to the locals to the tourists, it was a montage of things to look at. The funny scene of my time there was a fashion challenged 30 something guy with a stogie and his hat tipped backwards loudly talking into his cell drawing attention to himself! More than one person had a gaffaw at him! The business on the inside, wow. All the tables were full, I lucked out at getting one so I could post a review! I bet I could have sold my seat for a cup of Joe..lol The only thing I saw that was consistent was that while the staff was busy, there were people standing on the end of the bar and they were being ignored, even when the staff looked up their way. This was actually one of my favorite star bucks location because of how spacious it is and the fact that it actually closes late so kudos to them for working extra hard and serving up the same mean Fraps and Coffee drinks when most of the other stores are closed for business!!! Another reason I really liked this store is because there is a huge amount of seating so you will not have to go on some scavenger hunt to find the missing link chair and just pretty much pick your new favorite chilling spot!!! Outside sitting is pretty much not one of my choices because of the texas heat but whatever floats your boat or suits you well I suggest you do what you want to do!! I'm going to give this Starbucks 5 stars. The coffee is standard starbucks fare. Despite being extremely busy all the time, the service is fast and friendly, which is nice. I've never had a problem despite numerous visits to this location. The reason this location gets 5 stars is the location and setup. It's an amazing people watching place. During the day and on the weekend it's interesting to see who's swinging by the West Village area. From fiftysomething dude's cruising in convertible Benzes to the highly attractive twentysomethings, there is always something to see. I was actually sitting outside one day and Terrell Owens rolled by in a black SUV. Who knew? Plus, it's a pretty decent place to study if you like a moderate amount of ambient noise. There are plenty of tables on all but the busiest days, when you might have to join someone at a community table. You're also bound to run into someone you know every once in a while, too, which adds variation. A great location overall, more for hanging out, but grab a coffee while you're there. read more

Love the West Village location. It's within walking distance from my work & staffed with the friendliest people. They always have my drink ready as soon as they see me walking through the door. Drinks are always made well. Only draw back is that it's always packed there & no place to sit. I would get there early if you want a space to work/meet. read more

After taking a break from this particular location, I thought I'd give it another try. I'm still very annoyed!!! This starbucks is the absolute worse!! Still rude people and can someone PLEASE explain to me why Starbucks can not break a $100 bill after their morning rush. Establishments typically place a sign in the window when they can not take large bills. What's even MORE annoying is not only watching people pay with $20 bills but knowing for a fact they've excepted large bills before. How do I know? Well, I walked over there with a friend one morning and there was a guy that let them know he only had a $100 bill and they're response was "no problem" REALLY!?!?!? Very annoying Employee at this Starbucks. I can only assess that during this employee's off-time, he has nothing better to do but hang out in Starbucks and yell and joke with the other employees working there. He's very obnoxious, loud, rambunctious. The last time I saw him there he was wearing pink shorts. It seemed he had a problem with a (homeless?) man and made a huge deal about flagging down an officer and hunting him down. He seemed to be very annoying. He was disturbing the other employees as well, jumping up from the couches, calling out to other people who walked in. Some people didn't seem happy to see him--or they weren't smiling either way. The worst service I've received in an incredibly long time. The Hispanic young male who created my cappuccino did not want to remake my frappuccino when I told him it did not taste like caramel at all. He rolled his eyes twice, telling me how it was my fault, because I ordered my caramel frappuccino with a single shot of espresso. I informed him no other store seemed to have a problem with my order, then he tried to guilt me into not making him remake it. I just ignored his attitude, and waited for him to remake it with more caramel syrup. He finally told the Hispanic young female to make it, and walked away. I had already given them a dollar tip. I wish I had taken it back, but I didn't want it to look like I was stealing from their jar. I was hoping to go to a different Starbucks but I had a meeting nearby and knew I wouldn't make it on time if I went there. I stopped by and noticed many new baristas since the last time I stopped by. The barista that took my order was nice. However, the barista on bar was rude. She was flirting with some guy that walked up and asked for water. He didn't wait in line like he's supposed to (even for water) and I know this a I was a barista up until a few months ago. Well, I didn't notice that she was filling my cup with ice water and handing him my cup. The guy was taking my cup with the logo of the company I'm currently working at. I interrupted them when I looked up and saw the guy about to grab it and looking confused. I let her know that I didn't order water and that I bought a venti strawberry acai. The guy chuckled and she just looked at me confused before she angrily dumped the water. Went ahead and served him and then moved on to the next drink. She went back to mine and in a snarky tone said people like me shouldn't be allowed to order. That my cup was useless and that she was sure the drink wouldn't fit. Well guess what? The drink fit and she actually served me more than the 24 oz. and it still spilled over. If I didn't have to go, I would've asked to speak to the manager. Better yet, I should've contacted the district manager since it's the same one I had and I have the number. If this keeps happening, I'll be sure to contact the DM right then and there. read more
