We loved that this Starbucks is right off the trail, with its own short path from Iron Horse. We stopped in on a hot day and grabbed two ice cold waters (one had actual ice in it) and took a small break from our walk along the trail. So this is my second visit to this location but this time in the morning. It is a busy location , but customers tend to come in and collect. I stayed. It was non stop for staff. Ample seating space inside and the usual reliable free Starbucks wifi to work. Outside there are smaller tables with each a couple of chairs that are in the shade. This location continues to be very slow service with the employees almost ignoring you while you wait to order. They regularly spill coffee on the outside of the cup leaving coffee stains and they use a double cup which usually ends up popping the lid off somewhere once you get the coffee in the car. I would like to give a shout out to Jesse, Melissa, Moira and Vallery. Every time I walk in the store they greet me and make me feel welcome. Not every Starbucks takes the time to get to know their customers and their orders. Every once in awhile I'll change it, but for the most part they know what I order. I don't know of any other Starbuck store that takes the time to greet customers when they walk in the store, but this particular store does, even when they are super busy. They are aware that I have allergies and they are very cautious to make sure I get what I ordered. I have to have almond milk when I order a Mocha because I am allergic to milk fat. One thing that stood out was I came in and ordered a beverage, but they had run out of passion tea. Jesse let me know they had run out, but he was happy to make more even though they were only going to be open for less than an hour. If there was 0 stars that's what this review would be getting. I ordered my "warmed" pumpkin loaf and my strawberry acia 6 minutes before pick up. I go into the store and my drink was ready but they refused to give it to me my drink until my pumpkin loaf was "warmed". After it has been 25 minutes to warm up a 3 by 5 inch pumpkin loaf that will be eaten in less then the time it was warmed up. I will NEVER be going back to this Starbucks. Absolutely love this Starbucks. I usually come in in the afternoon and have my drink that I always get. The barista's who work these hours are generally the same and they are the best. Valerie is typically working at this time and when she sees me come in she'll start making my drink as soon as she's able to without me even having to ask. She's so efficient it almost seems like she would have had to start to make it before I came in (even when I haven't ordered ahead). For real, she is awesome and I appreciate how much pride she takes in doing her job well. Sam is amazing and my drink always taste's like it's been infused with the nectar of God's when he makes it, so I'm always happy when I see him making drinks when I walk in. Jesse always has a contagious smile on his face, which I appreciate because I've worked in customer service and it can be grueling work sometimes. Melissa, Katie, Moira, Ashley are lovely. They always greet me and are fantastic at what they do. And all of them (plus more that I may not see as often and so I don't know their names) are friendly, kind, professional, and I can only imagine must smell like flowers. Super Rude! Was going to pay for another drink we didn't realize the Vanilla Crème Frappuccino had coffee in it and as I ordered three for my kids and they all said it tasted funny so I tried it finding out they did have coffee in them. I went to the front and asked to have the drinks remade without coffee with my credit card in hand, as I did have a big order, the cashier was rude saying how they were ordered to have coffee in them and I tried to explain that we ordered the vanilla crème ones and added chocolate or Carmel to try and avoid getting the coffee ones. I do understand that Frappuccinos have coffee in them regularly, and that I was at fault for not ordering the right thing but when I try to keep my kids from freaking out and order the right thing, AND PAY FOR IT, there was no reason to talk down to me. Or first of all pretend we aren't there and then when to finally take our order, tells us, before I even said anything, "they were made how they were ordered", please! I understand it was a complicated order but after working at a coffee shop for a couple years, customers can be difficult but to approach us with attitude and acting annoyed before I even got the chance to say anything and making my kids feel bad for trying to tell you how they wanted it, shame on you. PINK HAIR DOESN'T FIT EVERYONE!! Where did these barista's get trained on customer service? They are the worst. They take a customer pushing to get served in the order he arrived and just see how far they can take them into anger. This location already has a reputation for being the slowest in the area and I was told the rudest of employees. I have avoided the place, but landed there in error when ordering online. There is no system to how they attend to customers. Our order was placed ten minutes prior to my arrival, half the order was ready. The heated item was not, yet they were heating items immediately for customers at the register. I was running late and told them I was in a hurry, the gal continued to chat away with the other baristas in the store. When I called her on it another barista stepped in and told me that I had just ordered 10 minutes ago . . . what? Though one afternoon I went by to get my favorite go to drink at the moment of green tea/lemonade and they were out of lemonade. Not to mention the fact that they weren't out of anything which is common in San Ramon. Food came out first quickly, then our beverages. Service counter is kept tidy, a good sign of cleanliness. Staff is friendly and you can tell the manager is invested in this location - it's already decorated for the holidays and is flooded with personalized touches throughout the establishment, from pillows and seat cushions to the beautiful personalized Xmas stockings. In real estate, the mantra is "location, location, location". And the convenience of this Starbucks' location is how we happened to drop by on a late Saturday afternoon. We were making the long drive back to Clayton Valley from the Peninsula and desired a quick stop for a cup of coffee. This Starbucks, located mere seconds off of the Sycamore Valley Road 680 exit fit our needs perfectly! Located in the small, chic Rose Garden Center, there was plenty of parking as we zipped in. I was impressed by the size of this Starbucks' interior, some interesting design touches, and the material quality of the seating areas. Overall, it seemed a notch above from Starbucks I've seen in the Concord/Clayton area. Service was friendly, quick and efficient, and my Tall Skinny Caramel Latte was perfectly made. I enjoyed my coffee and had a pleasant visit. The amount of seating however, was somewhat disappointing. Possibly because this location is more long than wide, all the seating is strung along the wall opposite the counter area. There are four tables by the windows, a long, attractive wood table that would do well for groups, and a group of comfortable, upholstered chairs in the far corner. There is a nice amount of outdoor seating if weather permits. Overall though, fewer inside seats than I've observed in smaller Starbucks. Other than the seating limitations, the easy accessibility of this Starbucks certainly makes it a desirable coffee option in the 680 corridor. read more
