The Toasted Coconut Cold Brew was smooth and refreshing with a light coconut flavor, while the Ube Coconut Macchiato had a unique sweetness that made it stand out. Great options if you want to try something a little different. The drinks were well made and perfect for a quick pick-me-up while out and about. The only downside was the parking and drive-thru layout, which isn't the best and can feel a little tight or awkward when it's busy. I had a half marathon over at the nearby Moonlight Beach Park. Thank goodness that this place was open early on a Sunday. It was off of the Leucadia exit of the 5 freeway. It was very easy to find. I wasn't in too much of a rush, so instead of going through the drive-thru, I parked the car and placed my order on the mobile app before heading inside to get my coffee. While inside, I noticed that there weren't any tables or chairs. They had a grab and go setup. The employees were all very nice and friendly which is sometimes rare at that early in the morning. If you decide to come here, be mindful of the parking. It's mostly 20 minute parking spots, and is similar to a Trader Joe's parking lot - terrible. I also wonder if this location doesn't get a lot of refill requests (because they don't have any seating in the place) as the lady with the red glasses kept commenting on how many refill orders she was doing. It almost felt like she was accusing us of not ordering it that morning. Had she just asked to see our receipt, we would have gladly shown it to her. For some reason the Leucadia /el Camino real location wasn't accepting Mobile orders today. I was on my way to the beach anyway, so I went to this location for the drive through. There was a very pleasant girl on foot taking orders as you were in line. This made ordering and getting through the line quick & easy. I very quickly had my correct order and was on my way. This Starbucks' customer service blows me away every time!! I've been to a lot of Starbucks, and this one may be the best. Their drive-through process and speed is absolutely UNMATCHED And today, I went in because the Carmel Mountain location had given me a terribly made drink, and I asked them if they could just make me something else, because it wasn't even drinkable, and they obliged in no time at all! While I waited, a barista asked me how my day was going (while he worked!!), and when I left, multiple staff said goodbye and to "drive safe in this rain"!! On a Sunday, 4/13/25, 8:10am, I went to the drive thru lane and noticed no walk in customers and no drive thru cars waiting. I ordered and the female employee asked me 3 times my order. I said to her,"wake up". drove up to pick up my order and the young gentleman said "you're good, we're not going to serve you". I didn't want to argue and left. Funny, I went to the Starbucks in San Marcos 2 weeks prior and the barista I knew from a previous location said she quit working at the Leucadia location after 1 day because of the toxic environment. Went to a drive thru Starbucks in Encinitas today 4/16/25 and the employee said he only worked at the Leucadia Starbucks 1 day. I'm appalled at one of the employee's behavior towards me...a customer for decades, spending about 20+ dollars a day for as long as I remember. I drove through the drive thru at 4:40 this morning (9/7/2024) they're supposed to open at 4:30 am. Anyway, they weren't open on time and per the Starbucks app, they're closed today for some reason (not usual). As I was driving out of the drive thru, I saw one of the employees walking and I didn't say or do anything, I was just driving, and he yells, "Get over it!" I'm very familiar with this employee because I'm a frequent customer, and he's an adult male with glasses and a mustache and facial scruff, he was wearing a white sweatshirt, thin. I have spent thousands of dollars over the years and go to Starbucks daily, usually multiple times a day, and to be yelled at unprovoked is unacceptable and rude. When the store reopens, I'm definitely going down there and reporting him to management. Unacceptable behavior! I was having a very bad morning and have been very ill with my chronic diseases, and I was just looking forward to my favorite vanilla latte and I didn't expect nor deserve to be yelled at. I don't understand especially since this employee was alone and I didn't honk or say anything to provoke a response. Shame on you! You seriously ruined my morning. You never know what secret battles someone is going through and I was going through such bad stuff today, and you just made it worse. Kindness is what Starbucks preaches, so how about hiring kind workers. I'll remember this employee and I'm not looking forward to seeing him again. I'm not upset that the store was unexpectedly closed, I know shit happens, I'm upset for being yelled at for no reason. I didn't deserve that, no one does. Again, I didn't give him a rude look, or say anything or honk, I was just driving out of the drive thru and he yelled to get over it...as if I'm just a stereotypical, entitled white girl who needs her Starbucks. UPDATE #2: I went back to this location to see if they opened and their drive thru was open but store lobby closed so I went through the drive thru and ordered two breakfast items so I could make my complaint, of course the employee who was rude to me this morning was at the window. I was wrong, it was dark at 4:40 am but now that it is light out, the rude employee is a thin, Hispanic male with no glasses but mustache and facial scruff and a light gray sweatshirt. After I paid with my app and got my breakfast items, I said "thank you for telling me to get over it this morning when I tried going through the drive thru," and he immediately became argumentative and said he was trying to explain why they were closed and apparently I was nodding my head, no sir the only words that crossed your lips were a condescending "get over it" and there was another employee behind him hearing all this and didn't say anything...no matter if this employee thought he was right and I was wrong, you don't actively argue with a customer and be condescending. When the lobby opens later or another day, I will be speaking with his store manager. I worked in retail and customer service in my teens and early twenties and you never argue with a customer and please just grow up and be professional and just apologize and say I'm sorry if you think I was rude and condescending, it wasn't my intention. Even if what he said was true, how is it ok to say "get over it" when I couldn't get my morning coffee. Very rude and disheartening especially since I've been an avid customer for decades and have paid thousands over the years. I'll be contacting the customer service number again as well and reporting him to his district too. He shouldn't be employed with Starbucks. read more

First time here - drive thru. Saw a man in line and was worried about him not being served because I've seen that happen before at a fast food place. But then I noticed the sign along the curb and thought, how amazing that they acknowledge this and accept it! I ordered my usual Grande Caramel Frappe with powdered toppings and also a Chai Latte for my partner. Gabbie at the window was the sweetest! We conversed while they made the drinks. She was so nice and pleasant! And she loves her job! To top off the experience, my partner said it was the best Chai Latte she's ever had from a Starbucks, and my customized Frappe was VERY well made! I'm rounding up from 2.5 stars on my latest visit. This location is convenient to my place as well as the freeway. It's right off the 5 freeway at Leucadia Blvd. and has a drive through which sometimes is helpful. The parking lot is very small and is taken up by most of the employees of the three shops in the little area (Starbucks, Subway and now a 1800 Flowers shop. The drive thru itself can be a bit hazardous as cars can zigzag through the parking lot out onto Orpheus and out to the main intersection. The staff i've encountered have all been fairly pleasant, but on my latest visit, I was surprised at how slow things were moving. It wasn't overly busy, but definitely a steady stream of cars at the drive thru window and a couple of people coming in to order besides me. The kicker was when the barista started my drink, i had brought my own cup, that was still dirty from yesterday's drink. I took off the lid and handed it to her. I would have hoped she noticed it still had remnants of last night's coffee and even the cardboard cup holder. I guess she didn't. She picked up the cup, grabbed the sticker from the printer for what was supposed to go inside and started to reach for the pump of syrup to start the drink. I was close to the counter and observed this and took a quick step forward and asked if she could please rinse out the cup first. She acknowledged that and washed it out and began again. She asked if I wanted whipped cream. I was told that was standard on the drink, but I said yes. As she lifted the canister, a steady stream of liquid came out into my drink. As she handed me the cup, she said, "it melted right into the drink". I was shocked! Usually, I hear the whoosh from the canister and look forward to the nice fluffy, white goodness on that tops off my coffee. But today, it "supposedly" melted, immediately after she poured it. WOW! We just ordered 3 drinks and all of them were about 10% short. See the photo. As if Starbucks doesn't make enough money with latte's to think they need to under-fill drinks to add to their profits is really low. Love this location. One of my favorites by far. The warm greeting when you walk in is always so lovely. The smell of the freshly ground coffee is so infectious and inviting!
