This Starbucks cafe is the closest one by the hotel that I'm calling home on this trip. It also has a drive-thru. I have been here a couple of times. My first experience was better than my second. When I visited this cafe the first time, I wanted to try the pineapple refresher. I got to the drive-thru order area and started rattling off the official refresher's name. I was abruptly stopped midway. The store had run out of it. Instead, I got a grande strawberry acai refresher. Both times, I used my Starbucks card on my phone to pay for my items. Both transactions were pain-free. The strawberry acai refresher hit the spot on a hot, humid day. I loved it. The second time, I went through the drive-thru again to order a grande iced peach green tea. I had a barista who wasn't a good listener and made what I thought was a straightforward order more complicated. She first asked me if I wanted green or black tea. Although I am grateful that I have tea options, I specifically said green tea. Second, she asked if I wanted more sweetener. I didn't get it. I said that the peach syrup was good enough. Apparently, folks here like extra sweetener in it. What? I'd die if I did that, but to each, their own. Third, she asked what drink size I wanted. Again, I had already stated grande. The lack of listening skills irked me. I got my drink. It was correctly made after so many questions. It also hit the spot on a scotching hot day. This cafe is okay. However, I like the second-closest Starbucks by the hotel on Murfreesboro Road much better and have been going there instead. (233) read more

I've been to this location a few times now. The staff has been friendly and the coffee concoctions have been well-crafted. I haven't tried their drive through, just in-store order-ahead. This location is doing great during covid with limited staff!! Sure wait times can be slow during rush hour but they are working really hard. But I have to rate 3 stars. I stopped in while passing through town on my birthday. I had to wait for a friend to go to lunch. I used my birthday drink reward and the barista who took my order was great and asked me if I wanted a larger size, extra shot or anything since it was my birthday reward. I also ordered an older drink no longer on the menu so she helped the barista making it remember the recipe. Really outstanding service, which is what I usually get from Starbucks anyway. This location is very cozy inside and out. There's plenty of comfy chairs inside for reading or chatting with friends, plus great work spaces. Outside there's a spacious patio with covered and open areas. Even in January it was warm enough to sit and enjoy the sun. Plenty of comfy chairs and tables outside as well. Really just a great location for working or kicking back with a book or a friend. read more

Like 3 times in a row (different days different times) my drink took over 15 minutes to make and the barista behind the espresso machines was so rude about it when I asked about it. They should fire that barista, they obviously struggle to keep up and the rude attitude... whatever happened to friendly customer service? Didn't offer to brew fresh coffee or even make me aware that they were currently out of the bold, just take it upon yourself Starbucks to serve me whatever you like. This Starbucks just reopened after a bit of renovation, and it's really nice. It might just be because the weather finally went from so awful I was throwing a tantrum every time I was expected to be outside for something to actually gorgeous, but the outdoor area seemed nice (this morning when I picked up my coffee, there was a young family enjoying the patio). And it was big and clean and modern inside. I always order my coffee ahead of time on the app (just how I roll), so it was a VERY quick visit. But a good one. read more

I had one previous bad experience here and chose to ignore it, as I understand times are difficult during Covid. Now, I gave them a second chance and went in with a friend and ordered two drinks, one of which was a pike place coffee with sweet cream. Ms Shay, the barista, calls out "Monse, mone, whatever your name is" and I figured it was me, since my name is Monse. Thought that was rude, but whatever, I'm used to my name not being called out correctly. We wait a few more minutes and I go up and say "excuse me" and she ignores me. I want til she comes back again to call out another drink and I then ask her if I'm suppose to wait here for the pike place or if I should have gotten it at the register when ordered. She looks at me like I just inconvenienced her and asks me what I ordered. I told her again what I ordered and she walks away. I wasn't sure if she was grabbing my second drink but she goes and makes sure I wasn't lying by checking the computer and then proceeds to drop off a drink on the counter and call the precious persons drink still on the counter. I wait a minute and my friend and I go up and ask her if that's our drink and she says "yes" and we grab and walk away. I turn back and she rolls her eyes and nods her head. If this girl doesn't want to work customer service, she probably shouldn't be working at a high pace company where people have the pickiest orders (even tho ours were pretty simple). Everytime I come to this location, something is made wrong or missing. I usually put in a mobile order in the morning before work around 9:20am, and the amount of times I've arrived at 9:30 and had to wait until 9:50 for my order is innumerable. The only thing consistent about them is that they're slow, and inaccurate. I've gone here to work for a while now and unfortunately the reasons to stop have been slowly building and today pushed it over the edge. Customer service is quite underwhelming about 90% of the time. Usually it's nothing crazy, just a general lack of attentiveness or feeling of caring at all from those taking your order. Bathrooms (can only speak for the male) are always gross. And increasingly not stocked with paper towels. Today I ordered an Americano and after what was at least a 20 min wait (the room was full of people waiting on drinks but order line wasn't long) I asked if my order was in the queue. It wasn't. They got another one going and had it to me in a couple minutes but didn't apologize or even acknowledge they had made a mistake. If this was a first time negative experience I wouldn't write anything my on here but this Starbucks has shown itself to be in need of some restructuring. read more

I ordered ahead and was being put up on the counter when I walked in- perfect! So confirmed my tip on the order and walked out. Once I was down the road realized my drink was quite light- so I opened the top to find a short poured coffee- it's coffee, it doesn't cost much to them but we pay such a premium. Yup, I'm writing a review of a Starbucks. I have to. We go there almost every weekend, sometimes more than once per day (yikes!) and I'm giving them four stars. Not because I think Starbucks is all that great on its own. I'm not a hater. Starbucks makes fine coffee and serves it to the masses. Coffee snobs will hate on Starbucks because they think they have the rights to wearing nose rings and drinking coffee. Going to Fido does not make you a coffee snob, but it doesn't seem to help. No, I have to write this because it's like a bomb went off in Donelson and Hermitage and it killed off every coffee spot but two Starbucks locations. If there were local coffee offerings in this area (let alone worth going to) I would likely do so. I love local, and local coffee can be as fun as it is frustrating. But we have on more than one occasion had to move along from this Starbucks as the line to the drive through stretches into the Home Depot parking lot and the inside is swamped. Know what's amazing? The people who work here have always been almost creepy nice no matter what. We have been given free drinks after waiting in line because they were too busy. Wait, what? Yup, free coffee because we waited. With a smile. read more

There are times to goof off and act like you are owned by Target, and then there are times to serve coffee. 20 minutes of standing in line with three baristas "pretending" to actually work. I have been to this locations numerous times and it has slowly been declining in service. I'm one of those coffee drinkers who thinks that Starbucks is part of the problem with coffee. I think they do coffee all wrong, charge too much, and turn far too many people away from the joy that is a good cuppa joe. That being said, I am going to award the Starbucks on Old Hickory Blvd in Hermitage my Matt L. "Not That Bad" Award for having some positive aspects. Previous Starbucks that don't suck include 2525 West End Starbucks and Cool Springs Blvd Starbucks. All the others are "That Bad." What makes the Southern Hermitage Starbucks worthy of being called Mediocre? Well, I liked the staff, which is pretty rare. Everyone seemed like functional human beings, which is definitely not the case at all Starbucks (I'm talking to you, corner of Church St. and 5th Ave. N). Beyond that, the place was reasonably quiet, there were enough tables, and most of the customers seem convivial and pleasant, which certainly is not the case at the Starbucks at Vanderbilt. Don't get me wrong, I would prefer a locally owned any day of the week, but every now and then, that is denied to me, so I have to go to the McDonald's of coffee places (and sometimes I even like McDonald's coffee better than FiveBucks). And like I said, this one is "Not that Bad." Congratulations, you should be "so proud" of yourselves. read more
