I thought that was a nice touch and yay less waste. Staff were observed interacting with guests as well as cleaning tables. This location has a decent amount of seating. I normally come here and have a very pleasant experience. Today was not the experience im use to. I'm not sure what happened to this Starbucks. It used to be one of my favorites-fast, accurate, friendly service. These days, much like my experience today, it's the polar opposite. I walk in, stand in line (first and only person when I initially entered the line), am not acknowledged by any of the four people working behind the counter, and proceed to stand in line for five minutes (no exaggeration). While the four other employees continue to do whatever they're doing, a fifth employee emerges from the back, asks who's next even though I'm clearly standing in front of her, then DRYLY takes my order and payment. Were it not for the convenience of the location in proximity to my job, I wouldn't even bother continuing to subject myself to the mediocrity. read more

This location is somewhere between 2 and 3 stars, but I'm giving it 3 because the issue is mainly drive through. Personnel is generally nice and the location seems clean, but expect to wait in the drive through for a long time. I thought maybe during peak times this is understandable, but it seems to be any day and any time that I'm waiting around 15-30 minutes. Most times it's standstill waiting rather than a lot of cars. Went to the drive-thru and waited at the ordering point and didn't receive a response so I drove up to the window at the drive-thru. nobody at the window for the drive-thru. Park the car and went up to the front door and it's locked and it's dark inside the store. No notice at the drive-thru or on the front door why the store is closed and not open today. Not the greatest in customer service. Michaela is extremely rude in handing out beverages and helping her team out. She never once called my name once my drink was made, so it sat there for 10 minutes before I realized it was ready. Also, in my group one of my friends spilled their coffee - we got the mess up, but when I told Michaela that someone may need to come and mop the area so it wouldn't be sticky she rolled her eyes and stated "sure.." in a manner that was uncaring for me being helpful. I mean, we could have just left the mess and not of said anything, but we had the decency to at least clean it up and tell them. After finally being fed up, I told him that he was the rudest barista that I ever encountered and that I wanted to speak to his manager. He had the NERVE to ignore my comments and dismiss me from the drive thru by giving me a sarcastic remark "Have a good evening". When I asked the manager for the district manager's name and number, as well as the barista's name, the barista yelled from behind her 'MY NAME IS STEPHEN L. STEVEN WITH A 'PEEEEEE ACCCCCH'. Ain't that the rudest thing? Moral of the story? I know everyone doesn't read reviews before going to Starbucks, but hey, if I can get my gripe out there on what an incompetent worker this location had hired, well maybe he can get some sort of reprimand. My Mom gave me lots of great advice when I was growing up, some I followed (Get your college degree) and some I didn't (All things in moderation) but one piece of advice I am very glad she imparted was "make sure you can drink coffee." I remember her telling me this after some school function where there was a huge pot of coffee for the parents and nothing else. As a tea drinker, she was without a beverage and as she further pointed out, when they have tea at events like that it is generally nasty with a slickish coffee film. Tea I therefore learned to love from my Mother but coffee I made a concerted effort to enjoy. I can remember going to a deli with friends in High School and ordering coffee and pretending that I liked it. I continued to work at it in college and it paid off big time when I spent my Junior Year abroad in Spain. I became an addict for life and am thrilled to be so. This Starbucks reinforces my joy of coffee. It is near where I teach and I frequent their drive through. Each barista is friendlier than the last plus they are quick and efficient. I spend plenty of money in Starbucks throughout the Chicago area, so I am very familiar with the standards they set for their employees. This is one of the worst Starbucks I have had occasion to visit. For example, I have come in and seen no employees at all - I could have helped myself to a few pounds of coffee and they would never have known. A couple of times I have had to yell to the back room to get someone to come forward so that I can pay for my purchase. Most of the time the young women who staff the store are unsmiling, uninterested in the customers, barely able to communicate. Of course that is not the case for all! One employee has asked my name and remembers it. Nobody else has bothered to ask, despite my being a return customer. This is one of those Starbucks where the motivation level is minimum and they make it pretty clear that they would rather be anywhere but serving us coffee. Employees also seem to be barely able to get along, shooting each other dirty looks and barely disguising their discomfort with coworkers. I have also asked for coffee to be ground, and had a male employee grimace as if I were asking him to lick the floor with his tongue. WTF? On the other hand most employees seem competent in grinding coffee, labeling the bag, etc. They just don't want to do it, but they know how to do it. They seem technically well trained - maybe there is hope that they can learn something about how to deal with human beings. read more

Everyone at this location is very friendly and accommodating. It's a typical Starbucks as far as layout and products. This location has a drive through and is set in a strip mall. The only room for improvement, as I see it, are comfy chairs rather than all tables. read more

I'm a frequent customer at this Starbucks and will often spend a good deal of time there studying or doing work. I'm sorry that other people seem to have had a poor experience there but I disagree. The employees have always been very kind to me and prompt with their service in the store or in the drive thru. I've seen that they treat others the same during the time that I spend there. We ordered 1 venti filter coffee and 1 venti iced tea. It took the employee(s) a full 15 minutes to get our order to us. The girl working the drive through window was very offhand with us. The capper was when she overfilled my husband's coffee, didn't put the lid on tight and spilled it all over his hand. (I'm not talking about a little splash. I'm talking about close to 1/2 of the coffee.) Not once did she apologize, or even offer some napkins. She just looked at my husband blankly, like "why are you still sitting here?". This is by far the best Starbucks I've been to. As far as Drive-up service is concerned. I have actually never been in side. Yet, I go at least once a week with my daughter. I am not exaggerating. I go to Starbucks all the time. Various other Starbucks within the area of this about 10 miles radius. Plus, a few in downtown Chicago. Also, I do road trips and the rest stations always have Starbucks. This is my favorite. Polite, Fast service at the drive up.. although it is and award turn to get in there. The baristas here have no idea what they're doing. I asked for one drink & got another. I watched the person working the drive-thru window make my drink, and put it at the drive-thru window ( I I knew it was mine because I saw my name on it). I also watched her put the wrong ingredients in. I waited for a little while because I thought the cashier would turn around, grab it & give it to me but she did not. There are 3 Starbucks in Homewood, and I come to this one the least out of the other two. But despite this, the workers know me by name and always greet me in a friendly manner. The store is much roomier then the Starbucks at Cherry Creek or the one by the train station and hence offers a much more enjoyable atmosphere. One issue however is the priority the Dive-thru takes over walk in customers, but at the end of the day this Starbucks makes up for it with its other great features. read more
