Trenta Iced Mango Dragonfruit Green Tea Lemonade
    Tiffany J.

I needed to redeem my birthday freebie and happened to be nearby at Van Leeuwen. Starbucks only lets you redeem the freebie on your actual birthday; they do not give you a few days or weeks to redeem it so it's use it or lose it. You can get any drink or food item for free and you have to mention it to the barista before you pay. When I told the barista I wanted to use my freebie, she asked if it was my birthday lol. Maybe she was new and didn't realize that you only have one day to redeem it. As much as I love coffee, I needed something to quench my thirst. I tried to order the Peach Green Tea Lemonade and was told that they were out. I noticed the current seasonal drink: Paradise Drink. It sounded like a pineapple version of the Pink Drink (which is one of my favorite non coffee drinks) so I ordered it. Guess what? They were out of that drink too! I stood there wondering what the heck to order. The barista suggested doing a Green Tea Lemonade with an added flavor like mango dragonfruit. I don't think I've had any drinks with mango dragonfruit so I figured I would try it. I ordered a trenta (30 oz. - only available for non coffee drinks) and a few minutes later, my drink was ready. It was really good! The color of the drink reminded me of the Passion Tea Lemonade, but it definitely doesn't taste the same. They put a lot of fruit in it too which got to be annoying as I got to the bottom of the cup because it kept getting stuck in the straw. A boba straw would have been really useful lol. I appreciate the barista making the suggestion though because I did enjoy the drink. This store is very large and spacious with plenty of tables inside and out. It's been open for a few years (the old location was on University and it was much smaller). There's metered parking right in front of the store, or you can park in the parking garage down the street. First two hours are free so if you're going to be there awhile and don't mind walking a short distance, that would be the way to go.

Our son is the low carb tasty iced coffee drink expert so we get him to order our drinks when we're together. He picked another goody today. If you need to use the restroom at this location, you'll need to get a code for door from the barista....

Came here for the pineapple matcha drink, which was refreshingly sweet and lightly caffeinated! The venti has about 110mg of caffeine, which is not much compared to their coffees. They have plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Def one of the more solid starbucks! Their restrooms would be upgraded though, as they weren't super clean and looked somewhat run down.

The girl recommended the liquid honey for my matcha tea and it was disgusting. I normally like coming to this location, they are quick and the staff is nice! They also have a nice big selection of cups and mugs if your needing one or gifting one. The location is partially or always busy with guests. Hard to find seating if you're trying to hangout and use your computer.

Easy to find, friendly, fast, clean. Very nice quiet crowd working and studying. Would come back. Tips: if using creamer/milk order your favorite (whole, 2%, cream...), for using your card when under the allotted amount... purchase or cary a Starbucks gift card. See you at the next coffee stop and thank your baristas if they start your day off with a smile.

Great Starbucks stop. The staff here is amazing. I'm here several days a week and am always greeted with a smile and my order is always ready and spot on.

Newer starbucks in rice village. I like this starbucks cause I feel like they give you the bang for your buck. Usually when I order a venti frappuccino at another starbucks they skimp me out. 1/3 of my venti is usually topped off with all whipped cream... but this place fill the cup up and then puts the whipped cream on just the top. They do it properly here! Thank you!

It's nice to have a Starbucks in the Village again. As a new location, they are equipped to make the nitro cold brew, something that older locations just won't be able to do. If you haven't had it, it really reminds me of a cross between coffee and beer. It's a bit odd, but there are many who really love it. They were willing to let me sample it as well. While it isn't the biggest Starbucks or the one with the most seats, it is reasonable and provides a ton of outlets, making this the perfect place to get some work done.

Big tables in the middle with outlets in the floor. This photo is taken from one of the coveted tables with comfy chairs and adjacent bench.

Grinder's Coffee Bar came up and it was right across the street so I made my way over. I arrived around 1 p.m. on a Wednesday. I parked in their small complimentary lot and made my way inside. Ambiance (3.5/5): Grinder's is basically two spots in one. When you walk in, there's a small counter where you place your order. And a handful of seats. From there, you wan walk into a more spacious second room that houses a CBD shop. And more seating along with the bathroom. I sat at a couch in the CBD area. While weed isn't my thing, if you're into both weed and coffee, that makes for a nice one-two punch for you. There isn't a ton of seating, less so than most coffee shops. Luckily, since it was a weekday, I didn't have any trouble. I wonder if that's different on the weekends. They also have free WiFi if you'd like to linger and work or study. Service (2.5/5): The menu is a little confusing because they have a menu on the counter and a menu on the wall with different items. I didn't see that there was a menu on the counter until I was about to place an order. They also have some beverages in a cooler that aren't on either menu. Not the best set up. Service wasn't terribly friendly either. Food (N/A): Since I just had lunch prior, no food for me. They have a small, but appetizing number of pastries and small bites for sale if you get the munchies (pun intended). Drinks (3.5/5): I'm not a coffee drinker so take this with a grain of salt. When I go to a coffee shop, I like coffee shops that still have a nice selection of teas and juices. Grinder's has a small number of teas that can be made either hot or iced. I went with one, iced, and sweetened with agave (for a surcharge). I liked it and the price was reasonable. They also had a mocktail of sorts that was available on their seasonal menu, although like most mocktails, overpriced. While not really my vibe, if you're a CBD person, Grinder's will be right up your alley. It's a unique spot and located in a great part of town.

I…read morefirst learned about Duo through signing up for a pilates class, and I fell in love with the place more through the people and the vibes in the connected coffeehouse. From a chat with the barista, I learned that Duo started because the husband had a love for coffee and the wife had a passion for pilates, so they thought "why not combine the two?" The River Oaks location is the founding store and they have since expanded to a second location as well. The people who work here truly seem happy and are eager to share the stories of their founders, which makes the place even more special. During my visit, I tried the birthday cake latte, which is a seasonal drink, and the flavors were also beyond what I've tried elsewhere. I'm typically not a fan of birthday cake flavored items, but I was feeling adventurous so I told the barista to surprise me with a drink from their menu and that's the flavor they ended up picking for me. When I received the birthday cake latte, I wasn't all that excited but all prejudice fell away after the first sip! I didn't adjust any sugar or ice levels like I typically do for my drinks, yet the drink was just right! Overall, I am just amazed by the people, the vision, and the gem of a place that I sort of happened into on a random weekend. I will definitely be returning again frequently for pilates, lattes, and/or fun conversations. Pro tip: initially it looks like visitors have to use street parking, but I confirmed with the staff that the parking lot across from the coffeehouse is free to use as well. Pro tip #2: there is option to order ahead with the QR code in image attached. I have not tried, but that may help skip the lines and make it easier for drink pickup. Pro tip#3: going for pilates here makes it so much easier to grab a quick bite or drink before/after workout!
