Starbucks should NOT allow their corporate name to be used by the bunch working here. The shop was empty when I arrived and there was one black woman working the counter and an Asian lady and two other women chatting up a storm doing God knows what. I ordered two simple coffee and three food items. I got the coffees by the woman at the counter but watched as she now handled a growing line of customers behind me and nobody was attending to the food tickets popping out of the printer because the three other women were laughing things up. Finally one of them came over and heated my sandwich and then left to wander around the front of the shop. She came back and handed me the sandwich but didn't bother to get me the coffee cake or oatmeal I paid for, The other customers came and went and food items that could just be grabbed and didn't require any preparation were promptly dispatched by the woman working the counter. Meanwhile the other baristas were toddling around as patrons waited patiently for their drinks being prepared in slow motion. At one point my coffee cake showed up but no oatmeal. It wasn't until I saw other food items requiring preparation getting handed to multiple customers and nobody having even started the oatmeal that I blew. At that point they all started running around in circles trying to figure out the oatmeal situation. Not to belabor the point a young manager man came out from the back room, asked me what happened and did what his employees couldn't....prepare the oatmeal. But....there were no tops for the oatmeal bowl. Nobody could find any. So the oatmeal was put in a coffee cup. Usually they give you brown sugar for the oatmeal and when I noticed they hadn't I asked. They went looking again and reported that they didn't have any brown sugar. No bowl tops and no brown sugar. Hmmm. They no longer put sugar packets out for some insane reason even though they did the day before, Thanksgiving, when I had been in. As I didn't order any food items requiring preparation that day, things were fine. It is clear this shop is not well managed and somebody should either send all the staff to some remedial boot camp training or cut them loose so they can find folks who understand how to do the job and will service the customers who pay their salaries in a timely, attentive and efficient way. I was so tempted to grab back the tip I left. I didn't. Perhaps I should have. I will say this, if I had known they were going to be this bad, I would not have tipped and I ALWAYS tip. read more

Consistency is imperative and depending on the barista your drink will vary, this is my greatest concern. My latest favorite is the Apple Caramel Spice beverage (hot) with whipped cream and caramel drizzle There is always smiles and laughter when I'm at the Madison location. The baristas are incredibly kind and always make my day. Not once have I ever had an issue with the baristas here. They are like family to me and I'm always happy to see these folks! It's not every day you see familiar faces that enjoy chatting. College students doing their school work while enjoying a cup of coffee or some other type of beverage is something you'll find at Starbucks, along with all kinds of inclusions. Starbucks is a company that believes in hiring folks with all different abilities. They show compassion and refuse to be non inclusive. Yeah, so. As others have mentioned, this isn't the friendliest of Starbucks locations. I mean, hell, you don't have to go above and beyond as far as kind customer services goes in my book, but hey, at least be somewhat personable to those you are providing service to. I stopped in last Thursday to try their new Iced Chai. The woman taking my order, (I think she had pink hair, which I usually love, I recently had pink hair myself) it felt like I was bothering her. She made me repeat what I was ordering and I felt like she was giving me attitude. It wasn't just to me though, I felt like she treated the person in front of me like that too. There was only one barista making the drinks and this made everyone wait around longer than we should have had to, or at least how I have seen other Starbucks locations running. I had only ordered a Tall, but there was like waaay too much ice in it. I had a few sips and the drink was basically all gone. Maybe my mistake and I should have asked for my iced drink to have like no ice?! The storefront is clean and well organized, I guess. This was a nice Starbucks along the CT shore that we encountered on our recent trip. After leaving our motel in the morning, we picked up my requisite bag of Dunkin Donuts near the morel and then drove with them to this Starbucks, 3 miles down the coast road. Thank you, wonderful internet, for allowing both the Starbucks and DD websites and Yelp to help me locate these favorites in advance, while planning the trip. It was a great start to a long day of wandering beaches, docks, parks and seeing friends. They did a great job on the drinks, the patio was really nice, both in location and furnishings, compared to the more urban options I am used to. read more

I stopped in the store yesterday (7.31.2020, at about 3:15 PM) with my mask fully on, pulled it down a little so that my order could be heard, and was told loudly, "Put your mask on, Paul" (loud enough to startle and surprise another customer, who glanced at me in shock that an employee would act that way). I tried to explain that it was on, just down enough to speak (temporarily) but my reply was treated dismissively. For the remainder of 2020, I will be boycotting all Starbucks. Unbelievable. Seems like the people that have been working there do things half ass. Just picked up a dragon drink it's disgusting chunky from the coconut milk that they clearly didn't bother to shake. Anyone who drinks coconut milk or uses it knows when the coconut chucks separate from the liquid it does not taste good. Made the mistake of stopping here for a coffee and some food on my way back from the beach today. I want to say this Starbucks has probably the rudest staff of any I've been to. The barista that took my order was friendly, but the ones making my coffee were clearly pissed off that they were there working. They made my drink wrong (mocha instead of a caramel macchiato) and when I mentioned it, the two baristas just started bitching that the writing on the cup wasn't clear. No apology or sorry about that. And I'm pretty sure the second one they gave me wasn't made skinny as I ordered. I passed a coffee place just before this Starbucks so if I want a coffee again when I'm in the area I'll be going there instead. So two attempts and a quick sharp turn later, I finally figured out how to get into this lot. What a bizarre layout for a plaza and the parking area has no defined right of way for traffic, it's just cars driving down lanes and hoping that you don't run into another coming from the other side. But alas, it's not about the lot - they didn't design it. This Starbucks was a bit lackluster for me. The interior is claustrophobic (one of the most common themes at Starbucks) and the staff took my order and made it, but didn't stand out. No one smiled or seemed to enjoy working with each other. It was just methodical and ordinary. I imagine you can count on them at least making your drink quickly and efficiently because there was zero banter or chatter going on at this place. This is my favorite starbucks location near me! The employees are very nice and when i brought my puppy in, they were all crowding around behind the counter and were saying hi! I wanted to review this Starbucks because I think it is a decent coffee shop. It has a great seating arrangement whereas most Starbucks in NYC I think do not. The servers are also friendly and prompt which is important. The one aspect about the place I would change is the lighting as there is not enough natural light in the place because there are not enough windows. I think it's important that people in Madison support the local coffee shops and not just go to the nearest Starbucks. It is convenient to be able to order the exact same drink you have acquired a taste and appreciation for anywhere you go. It will be boring though if, in the future all we are left with are Starbucks and Dunkin' Doughnuts because those are the only coffee shops people support and the others are marginalized and go out of business. read more

Speed - slow pace in ordering process usually a full staff with no direction. Staff more worried about scheduling break time and taking care of friends in line then customer service. Watched manager on multiple occasions let line build before she will get up and assist her staff. Accuracy - less then 50% of the time I get the correct order. Usually receive a attitude when I ask to have drink re made. Standards - Starbucks used to have standards higher then a convenience store. This is not the case in this location. The deadlock delay during a 30 mt lunch break is unacceptable. This is one of my least favorite Starbucks. And I like Starbucks. One time I ordered a decaf espresso drink and am sure they gave me caffeinated. I had a hard time sleeping that night and even the next day didn't feel well. I'm sensitive to caffeine, which is why I ORDER DECAF. If you work in a cafe, you really should be careful about getting this right. It's not too much to ask. Another time I ordered a chocolate milk specifically for my kid: I ordered "a kids' chocolate milk." Clear enough? Not for the cashier -- she put it in as an iced mocha. And when my kid said it tasted like coffee, and I tasted it and knew it was a mocha, and I read the label and it said "mocha," and I brought it back and told the cashier, she claimed, "It's just the syrup. It's okay." No. It's not okay. I don't give my young child coffee. It took a few minutes for her to ask the person making the drinks to get my kid a freakin' chocolate milk. And she didn't apologize. This Starbucks has the rudest staff out of any I have ever been too. I live in the area so I frequent this location a lot and every single visit the staff is blatantly rude and unprofessional in front of customers. To name a couple situations out of many... I am a college student so I will sometimes come here later at night to get work done or to study. During one of those nights, the barista began cleaning. While doing so, she was repeatedly slamming the ice machine open and closed which was extremely loud. After her doing so over and over for a few minutes, it was obvious she was doing it on purpose so that me and a group of older women inside would leave. When one of the women from the group asked her if "this was a sign for us to leave" the barista scoffed and made a rude comment to another staff working about us, the customers, "not getting the point." I had another bad experience today. I mobile ordered my drink on my way and ran inside to get it. Once I got inside, I was standing by the pick up area for it to be ready. While standing there, the barista had just began making my drink and started loudly complaining to another staff member working saying "Who even orders this? Obviously only someone who likes a ton of sugar and fake tea." in a rude stuck up voice. Mind you, I didn't even order any sugar in the drink so if he was adding sugar that was his mistake. Second of all, he is saying all of this in front of the customers and myself as I was standing there waiting to take it. The service is extremely slow, the baristas making the drinks are rude and its 50/50 on whether they'll get the drink right. There is always a line to the door-and this is a small town, so clearly it's a speed of service issue. We did a mobile order this weekend and when we got there to pick it up they had made only one of our drinks so we had to ask for the other and the breakfast sandwich we had already ordered and paid for was supposedly sold out even though the app said it wasn't. I'm going to be generous and say that 75% of the time they screw my order up. And I'm not ordering a complicated order. I ask for soy milk and no whipped cream. Clearly that would signal to someone without rocks for brains that someone may have a dairy intolerance. Yet 3/4 of the time, there's the whipped cream on top, and then they sigh like I'm causing them trouble asking them to correct my order that is wrong.
