I've been here a lot...so I think that it's time that I finally wrote a review. I am consistently impressed with how quickly this Starbucks churns out drinks. Coupled with that, the speed of service does not compromise the quality of the drinks - every drink I've ever ordered has been tasty, well made, and reflective of my special requests. The staff has always been friendly to me, and have never made me feel like I'm unwelcome - even if I spend hours typing away in one spot. I enjoy ordering new things, and the baristas have let me know that if I ever dislike a drink, they are willing to make me something else. As far as cleanliness goes, the bathrooms have always been clean and the trash is taken out regularly. The tables are a hot commodity, especially the ones near an outlet, so I can't blame the occasional sticky table on the staff since I often jump straight to a table after somebody leaves. For a small-town Starbucks, it's pretty efficient and speedy. If you plan to do work, bring headphones as this is a popular meeting spot and some folks deem it appropriate to talk loudly on the phone and across the table to each other. I can't blame the staff for the behavior of some of the clientele, but I think that an honest review should reflect the ambiance of the establishment, since many people seek out coffee shops with the intent of getting work done. I recommend this spot - just realize that it is small, a bit cramped (both inside and in the parking lot), and you more than likely will need a pair of earbuds/headphones/ear plugs to focus. read more

I have honestly never done a review for Starbucks but recently I've been going through a rough patch and then I got very sick. My friend introduced me to a tea they sell that may help so I decided to stop by. All four times I went the staff was SO incredibly kind but one in specific is Bridget. She not only had excellent customer service skills but she even went the extra mile, giving me home remedy ideas that actually saved me. Knowing how sick I was, she even gave me some extra tea because she saw how much it helped. Today I visited again, just because I adore them, and had the pleasure of seeing Miss Bridget again. Even without a mask, she remembered me! It really made my day having a stranger make me feel so special. She didn't know, but I was heading to the ER to be with my dad. So when she gave me a little sweet treat and said, "just to make your day a little sweeter" she certainly did. She is the best and I am now a regular at Starbucks in Mckinleyville because of how incredible the staff is. Know that ya girl, Sarah, appreciates you all endlessly for making intentional time to be kind to others in these difficult times. See y'all for a caramel macchiato soon! :) read more

The associate pumpkin was absolutely horrible and rude. Rolled her eyes at us when we asked for straws for the drinks. Food cold in the middle. Horrible customer service with awful energy radiating from the place. August 03, 2022 - 10:06AM The wife and I wanted to stopped in for some morning coffee and to also fill our bottles of water for our long drive home. When she initially came in, she was greeted by a young gentleman with a gray beanie. When she arrived to the front counter, he looked at her and said "nope" as she said hi, then he turned around and headed to the back. The girl with purple hair saw and said "That's so mean." She came up to the front and helped my wife with our order. Although, the girl with purple hair was very helpful and kind to us, we are a bit upset with the interaction with that gentleman. Come here often... like 4-5x a week often. This morning, the employees were high or something. Not sure if the front counter person is new but they were out of oat and coconut milk... both normally in the drinks I order. So I ordered something off their menu board and told her to use an alternative milk for it... blank stare for 10 seconds. Explain again, ask if it's a latte or something else, another blank stare for 10 seconds. Awkward! Get my drink and it looks 1/4 empty and filled to the top with ice. For nearly six bucks for a drink, this was embarrassing for your store. read more

I was treated very poorly at the Starbucks in 1924 Central Ave. McKinleyville CA 95519 US, this morning. 10/15/2020 @ 8:15 AM. I forgot to put my mask on being in a hurry to get my items I ordered and purchased via the Starbucks app. I opened the door to be met with an extremely loud yell. OUT!! TOU NEED TO PUT A MASK ON!!!! This is a wonderful Starbucks. The majority of staff at the drive-through are cheerful and polite. My order is always just right. They make my coffee plenty strong enough. I'm a regular now. I even make special trips from Arcata, just to support my local. They have gone out of their way to keep special coffee beans aside for me as well. read more

I received a $50 gift card to Starbucks from my wife at Christmas. I have done business at the Mckinleyville Starbucks for as long as they have been in business and watched its business increase over the years. The service has progressively gone from bad to worse to unacceptable. The only customers actually served are the ones that frequent the drive through. I like to go inside and converse with the people. However if you want anything other than a standard cup of Joe be prepared to wait. .and wait....and wait until your frustration level prompts you to just leave and cut your losses. The service is lousy if not downright non existent. Its to bad that as patronage increases via the drive through, service comes to a standstill for those of us that like to sit down and enjoy the coffee shop atmosphere read more

From the looks of the other reviews we got lucky. Long drive thru line, but it moved fast and all of our drinks were correct.

This was one of the most unpleasantly staffed Starbucks I've ever patroned. In fact, and for example, a downtown Reno Starbucks served group after group of people during the Women's march with smiles and friendly banter for everyone even though waiting's were long. The person running the register at this Starbucks was below par. Basically, there is no excuse to be a snot. At home and any other Starbucks I've been to around the world, after a person pays, you say thank you and acknowledge their payment. You don't just yell out "no receipt?" and walk off. Additionally, after the large group was served, my coffee had left with someone else. This happens, but honestly thought it was because we hadn't tipped (at first, and because of the rudeness). I asked about my coffee and tipped *lol*... Redemption, however, was when the nice looking barista with the dashing mustache quickly made me a replacement coffee. read more

This Starbucks is by absolute far the worst Starbucks in all of Humboldt county, avoid at all costs. There is only a couple of employees who are kind, professional, and patient at this location. Working in the service industry means you leave your pettiness, bad attitude, and lack of personal manners and values at the door, more than a few employees at this establishment are petty, can't be bothered to provide quality service let alone average service, surly faces, attitudes, and energies. Not to mention they have on several occasions charged us the extra fees for their milk alternatives and still serve us whole cows milk, wouldn't be a big deal if it was a mere intolerance but when we are severely allergic? Have ended up in urgent care more than once. Called management to notify them, not ask for a refund or special treatment, simply wanting to provide a friendly PSA only to have it continue to happen. If you plan to go to this location, go thru the drive thru and check and taste your drinks before leaving. Avoid the inside at all costs, unless of course you are friends with the poor attitude/customer service employees. read more

I was already living away from home when my hometown got its Starbucks. Boy, was it a big deal! To put things in perspective: when a place that Wikipedia describes as "Oklahoma by the Sea" gets another drive-thru, it's celebrated like someone just won the Nobel Peace Prize. Seriously, I'm pretty sure that all over town, people were like, "bundle up in the back, kids. Mama's gonna git her one of them fancy coffee drinks with that cool whip on top." This is how I knew we had arrived. It wasn't when we got our own zip code in eighth grade. Or when we once spotted someone who may have been Woody Harrelson. Or even when our K-Mart turned into a Big K. It was when we got our own Starbucks. On my visit home last weekend, my mother drove me through the drive-thru in her new Prius, equipped with custom wheels and Swarovski crystal license plate holders. Hideous customer service. I was the only one ordering and the 6 people behind the counter continued to chat it up with one of their friends that came in to say hi. They had a new gal on, training and she didn't even know how to shake up the almond milk for the coffee. I went back to the guy training her and said, "There is no almond milk in here". So he proceeds to shake up the almond milk and dumps so much almond milk in that it makes the entire cup of coffee cold. He then shoves it back to me and keeps chatting with his friends with no sorry or anything. They need new management here. Management is everything. This store is not a representation of what Starbucks stands for. Their service time is poor. Their customer service is poor. Last experience: no line, drive thru is not very busy, yet I see 5 partners on the floor, or at least in uniform walking around, no one acknowledged my sister and I, NO one helped. I had to shout "ANYONE WORKING THE COUNTER HERE?" To which a partner replied "oh, could you get them," to another partner, even though she was the one right in front of us. This partner responded apathetically and unapologetic. That's just unacceptable to me, especially when I KNOW how it should be. This review is after my the sixth consecutive poor experience. I was actually contacted by an employee at this very location, who felt it appropriate to tell me she remembered my face every time I came in, thought my haircut was ugly (really? did you just go there?), and told me my sister and I were rude, and we are not the kind of people she wants to serve. First of all, childish to attack a person's appearance when this platform is for reviewing businesses. Second, very unprofessional to represent a company and write derogatory messages to patrons of that company. OMFG STOP THE PRESSES, SOMEBODY JUST MESSED UP A DRINK ORDER AT A COFFEE SHOP!!! I asked if it was a green tea, and when they realized they had made a black tea, the girl at the register was apologizing repeatedly and said that I could have that one and they'd also make me a green tea for free. I didn't really care, and so I took the black tea and sat down. A minute later she came over, apologized again and gave me a coupon for a free drink. And you know what? When I redeemed the coupon I TOTALLY SPLURGED AND GOT A VENTI GREEN TEA INSTEAD OF A GRANDE! The employees of this Starbucks are rude, unprofessional, and just plain incompetent at times. I can't tell you how many times they've given me the wrong order, or coffee and food that was cold. My order is pre-ordered and I often still have to wait for over 20 minutes because they never started the order. They have terrible ventilation in this place. They keep the doors closed as the sun is beating in the windows, causing a greenhouse effect. It feels so uncomfortable standing there in a mask in a low oxygen environment. I feel like I'm suffocating every time I walk through their doors. You might also notice how the direct sunlight is shining directly onto food items and the employees ignore the safety hazards. The management and the entire employment staff should be fired and replaced with competent, educated, well trained people who actually care about their customers, and the food they serve. These people don't care at all, and if you try to offer a little constructive criticism, they get all belligerent and immediately take an aggressive attitude. I've seen this happen too may times for too long to not say anything about it, which I haven't until today. I sincerely hope to see improvement in the future or a serious complaint to the corporate HQ will definitely be in order. Judging by the previous reviews, I can tell I'm certainly not the only dissatisfied customer to write a negative review. I just wish I didn't wait so long to do it. It's like they are trying to compete with crescent city for the slowest Starbucks ever award. It took 15 minutes to get through the drive through yesterday, and there were only two cars ahead of me. I didn't even order any foo foo or froth, just a plain, brewed coffee. I could have built a campfire and percolated coffee in that amount of time. The only highlight is watching the local cowboys try to fit their 12 foot-tall dodge "contractor" trucks through the corners of the driveway. First off, not a Starbucks fan. It tastes too mass-produced and I'd MUCH rather support a local coffee shop. That being said, I'll stop in when necessary for my morning caffeine fix. This Starbucks isn't very good. The drive-through is often excessively long and the coffee tastes like it was made very poorly. My white mocha tasted like dirty water and another time my chai latte tasted like the chai had gone bad. I definitely try to avoid this Starbucks. read more

I always get excellent service at this location. The ONE time my drink was wrong, they forgot to put in the syrup. When I came back, they not only put syrup in my already-made drink but then made me a second one since I had to drive back. Yes, sometimes it's a bit of a wait in the drive-thru. It's not always their fault. When you're three cars back, you don't know what the holdup is. Maybe the car at the window ordered eight drinks. If you don't want to risk a wait, go inside so you can scope out the situation before ordering. This goes for ANYWHERE that has a drive-thru. read more
