This Starbucks gives off the same energy and vibes that it did over 10 years ago when I was last here. Lots of seating, inviting energy, busy baristas behind the counter. I put in an order for the truffle mushroom egg bites and an iced americano while my son got his cake pop treat. Everything came out in short order and tasted as expected. Other than the fact that Starbucks literally hasn't been the same since their business model has changed, this location is probably the slowest location I've ever been to. I placed an order via mobile app so that my drink would be ready by the time that I got there. I arrived to the location a few minutes after they quoted the drink being ready, but it was still not ready. I found this to be very strange as I've visited this location many times before and never had any issues (granted that was before the business remodel). Additionally, there weren't that many customers in the store so it didn't seem very busy. I waited another 12 minutes until I finally got my drink. On top of that, this was when they had switched the clear cold cups to the compostable cups. Everything was a disappointment and i'll not longer be coming here before work. It's a Starbucks, you know what you're getting when you go. They were friendly here and the line moved. But I wish they had packets of sweeteners out, along with milk. I had to decide in advance how I wanted my coffee - but I'm not a big Starbucks person so I didn't know if I'd need to add anything to the Verona blend to make it drinkable or it would be OK. I frequently purchase breakfast items at this location as I live close by in Portola Valley. Tonight, I stopped at the Wells Fargo ATM to get $ out & noticed an older homeless gentleman sitting on a bench. I wanted to give him $10, so I went into this Starbucks & told them I needed to break a $20 & needed two $10's for that purpose. The young woman working there said in a Very Cold manner you need to buy something to get change. I reiterated that I simply want to give the man $10 & she again repeated in a Cold manner you need to buy something to get change. So, I walked across the parking lot to Safeway & told them the same reasoning as to why I needed the two $10's & they said absolutely, we're happy to help! Not only do they make multiple types of drinks horribly wrong more times then I can count on two hands, but they will randomly be closed when they should be opened based on the hours posted on door and the internet. They never have a sign of why but if you order ahead on the app and it won't let you, you know something is up. This is has happen multiple times in the last year or two and it makes no sense. Worst food i've ever had. First of all, the lady gave me the wrong size (a grande instead of a venti) I politely asked her to change the size, and Instead of making a new one, she simply put it in a larger cup and just filled it to the brim with milk, so now my iced chai tastes like straight milk. I asked for no ice in my water and the woman filled the whole thing with ice. I took the ice out, and there was approximately one inch of water. The turkey bacon sandwich I ordered was extremely dry, and the worst one I had at any location of starbucks. Mind you, I always order one of these at least once a week at different locations and it did NOT taste this bad. I'm usually a starbucks fan, but this has made me rethink if I ever want to go to one AGAIN. The service was fine, everyone was really nice but in the middle of an order, someone told the cashier that she could take her lunch break and she sprinted and I mean sprinted to leave me, without even apologizing. Then I had to wait in the middle of my order for another cashier after waiting in a ridiculously long line. The drinks took extremely long, I felt like I was waiting for hours just for a drink that tasted like crap. Will NEVER stop here on the way back from a trip ever again. I give this place a 4-star rating because the baristas make your drinks perfectly. I have been coming here from Reno, NV for 7+ years as I am a cancer patient at Stanford. This Starbucks has never made a mistake with my orders ever. The outside area is a gold mine as they have tables in an area with plenty of shade, green grass, and cell phone coverage. The baristas here are super friendly , the guy with the curly hair , the two older women with blonde hair are always so great but there is an older women who has brown hair now she is always plain rude. Every-time I order my custom drink she gives me an attitude and seems like she gets so mad when she takes my order she doesn't like that I customize my ice espresso drink as if she's wasting her own ingredients from home she even went as far as to changing my drink from a large size to their smallest cup size without my knowledge she told me to hold on after I ordered and started typing into the order kiosk that's when I knew she was changing my cup size to the smallest one and when I went to pick up my order it was the smallest cup size so of course I gave it back and told them to give me the correct one I ordered. Visiting this Starbucks for a chai or matcha has been one of my favorite work-from-home treats in 2020... it's the little things! I appreciate this location for easy parking, staying on top of their app order-ahead orders (and it's a great app!), and quick, friendly service when I come in to grab my drink. This is not about the coffee. I'm not even a coffee drinker and most Starbucks products have far too much sweetener in them for my taste, but I feel compelled to give these folks kudos for amazing customer service. My step mother has very severe aphasia (due to Alzheimer's) and the staff there all treat her so well. Everyone knows her by name and they all know her order, so when she can't manage to get the words out correctly, they gently suggest to her what she might be asking for. If it comes out different than what she had envisioned, they make her a new drink. It's like our version of the Cheers bar. Everybody knows her name, they all greet her when she walks in. I usually don't review Starbucks because everyone has an opinion, but this place is GREAT!! The baristas make the drinks perfectly EVERY TIME. They are friendly, courteous, and treat you as a human being, not a cash machine. It's clear that the employees here take pride in their craft and their customer service. Lots of indoor and outdoor seating. The cafe is located in a quiet corner of a small shopping center, so it's relaxing. Good WiFi. Atmosphere is welcoming. Also, I notice that some of the baristas appear to be middle aged or older and others seem to be in their 20s. I appreciated seeing the diversity of ages -- everyone was learning from each other and working together to create a lovely experience. Great Starbucks with excellent customer service. My friend and i were waiting for a while for our coffees as it was a packed Saturday morning on our way to Half Moon Bay. Finally a variety of coffee drinks were put over the counter and several customers went to pick up their drinks. One lady touch our cups by mistake, but not big deal for us. The barista, however, insisted in making new drinks for us. We told her no, but found that to be a very nice touch and that gave us a great impression. Those who work, live, take casual walks or jog around Menlo Park all knows about Sharon Heights. Right before you drive up on Sand Hill from Santa Cruz Avenue, it is the first plaza on the right. STORE It gets fairly busy throughout the open hours, but around 7:00AM it is pretty line-free. As busy as it gets, it is surprisingly well maintained. I do not believe I have ever seen it messy or disorganized. SERVICE They use to had a lady that works there that is super fast on drinks. I never have to wait more than 2 minutes after placing my order busy or not. She no longer works there, but over all the baristas are quicker than most stores I've been to. I use to remember 80% of the baristas names there, but the last few months they had hired/transferred a lot of new baristas there so I gave up trying to remember (except for Cindy - Bronco's fan). May I request to have the baristas put on a name tag? The baristas make an effort to remember ours/customers, why not us? I have yet to try the mobile ordering. Something about the mobile ordering seems so... anti-social. VERDICT There are about 2-3 Starbucks near my current residence and I always wait to go to work to order from this store. It's hard for me not to really like this location especially since it's on the way to work for me and I come here a lot. So, it easily gets 4 stars. There's parking available at all times, the staff at this location is great, and I can get my java fix before and after work or when I'm in this area. This location has a sufficient amount of space so there are many chairs and tables, but this Starbucks gets packed with Stanford students, especially during exam season. Only downfalls- It can get really busy in the morning before 9am, but what Starbucks location doesn't? Maybe it's my imagination, but it seems slightly cleaner than any other Starbucks in the Bay Area, and you can feel the energy as entrepreneurs kiss up to VCs and the VCs hushly talk trash to each other about their competitors' investments. Definitely makes it more interesting than any other Starbucks I've been to. I'm not a coffee person at all but I came here often, grabbing a bear claw or two Egg Florentine spinach sandwiches for lunch. First the baristas are super nice, the guy remembered my name and my order and he charged me only for a small size of hot chocolate because it was my 2nd order in the same day. If you didn't order hot chocolate with 5 pumps of hazel nut and hot to 180 degree with web cream and chocolate syrup then it will be hard to explain how good they make it. Also the place is huge and have a pleasant decorations and furniture, with the best out door seating among all other Starbucks branches. What makes this place is so special is that the atmosphere is so quite, maybe because of Stanford students. Also there is plenty of parking spots.
