I have mixed feelings about this Starbucks. Depending on who is at the cashier, it can either be a super super quick trip (definite plus in the morning on the way to work) or quite the opposite - SLOOOOOOOOWWWW like a freakin snail. I came in at 5:45am on a Monday morning and was out the door in less than 5 minutes. As I walked up to the register, the barista asked to make my drink. While she was making it, the cashier rang me up. Both are superstars! The very next day, I came in at 5:50am and there was a line of 2 people ahead of me. A different cashier was working the register and OMG she was so slow. I don't know how it can take so long to ring up a coffee order but seriously I was in line for 10 minutes with only 2 people in front of me. As I waited, the line behind me grew to 5 other people. Everyone looked just as aggitated as me. I mean seriously, we're in here at 6am for a reason, we need our coffee and we have places to get to! As a result, I was late to work and was super annoyed as I stood there waiting and watching in disblief. The baristas know their "regulars" and remember their drinks orders. read more

This is the first time I received absolutely awful service at a Starbucks. I came here, bought a drink at around 3:00 PM and went for a refill at 4:00PM. The barista there (Latino, earring, buzzed sides) immediately implied that I was attempting to cheat the system by getting a refill with an old Starbucks cup. He said, "Do you have a receipt?". I said no, as I didn't remember that the previous barista (redheaded goth-style girl) even gave me a receipt. I have never been asked for a receipt before at another Starbucks when asking for a refill. I told him "Don't worry, your system will know that I purchased this drink here because it will waive my fee". He then went into how the refill is only for same drink, same stay, implying that I had left the building. Excuse me but your shift started while I was here and I was here the entire time. I then asked why the guy in front of me got his refill without any receipt, and he said "Because he comes here all the time and we know him". He said, "If you have a problem, you can e-mail my manager. I'm just following store policy". I understand the need for policy in order to protect against abusers. But he assumed that I was an abuser and treated me in a very rude manner. You should always give your customer the benefit of the doubt. Just because I didn't have a receipt doesn't mean I am abusing the system. The other employee I dealt with that day (the redhead goth girl in earlier shift) was friendly. This is my usual Starbucks to stop at if I am craving it on the way to work. It's in a good location close to other shops. The staff is friendly. They do have one really nice woman that works there who always makes an effort to talk to the locals I have noticed. My drinks are not usually as hot as I like them at this location for some reason. I take a sip and its luke warm. I know I should just ask to have it hotter but they seem busy. Also on several occasions they have forgotten to put SOY milk in my drink.....believe me I know...I am very lactose intolerant. =( I still continue to come here...the people are nice and its on the way to work. read more

It's not often I review Starbucks... having worked within the horrid company for 7 years (years ago), I do not always have the fondest memories - but, I felt the need to express my opinion on this location. No matter how long the line, now matter how many machines are broke down - this store always delivers. It's consistency is awesome. This is consistently the worst Starbucks I have ever been to. I come in here each time hoping that my experience would be better than the last, but that has never been the case. The customer service STINKS. There is a guy that works there (not sure of the name) who ignores me each time that I come in, and when he is finally ready (on HIS time of course), he will finally take my order. Even when he does, he does't even try to talk to me. No personality. Same with every other person I have encountered there. In addition, the drinks are AWFUL. I usually can tolerate Starbucks (even though I am a Peet's fan), but every time I get a drink, it is made either too sweet or it just doesn't taste right. I can no longer come to this Starbucks. I'm actually writing this review from Starbucks. I've known about this place, but I've never stumbled into it for some reason. Apparently there is an entire shopping center tucked away here as well, even with a Jamba Juice! It's actually a fairly quaint coffee shop. The seating area is underneath a towering, two-story dome--it certainly makes for an extremely open feel. The seating outside is plentiful as well. The staff was friendly, but not as friendly as Starbucks staff normally is. They do, however, keep the place really clean, which is a major plus in my book. (I used to go just at night) We ran into Grant , a gentleman who has lost his leg when he was 4) Again, big shout out to the hiring manager , till today ,I still don't know who she/he was) Making a decision of hiring someone with disabilities is hard . I bought a Grande caramel mocchiato and received my cup half full of foam. I asked to get it re-made and the barista replied with "it happens". Didn't offer to remake or even an apology. Finally had to ask him myself if he could please remake it for me and he agreed but not before trying to charge me again for it! I received my remake and to my surprise it was even worse than the first one! I showed him again and all he said was " you want me to remake it"? No thanks! my friendly neighborhood starbucks, just around the corner from where i live so i can walk there every morning. compared to most starbucks, their hours are exceptional as they open at 5am on most days and stay open until 11/11.30pm. i usually pop in to pick up my morning tea and sometimes a breakfast sandwich or wrap. on one occasion, i stupidly forgot to bring my wallet, and unfortunately did not notice until after i had placed my order. i was extremely embarrassed and requested to have my order canceled, but the cashier just told me to take my cup of tea, since they made it within a matter of seconds. still shocked and embarrassed, i quickly thanked her and left. while i appreciated her generosity, i felt obligated to pay for this cup of tea, so the next time i stopped into this starbucks, i let the cashier (different gal) know that i had forgotten my wallet last time and wanted to make up for the difference, in addition to my order for this visit. she thanked me for my honesty and allowed me to pay for the tea from the previous visit. i really appreciate the integrity of the staff here. in addition to serving up great cups of tea, coffee, breakfast sandwiches and pastries, the service is first rate. this is what i call my "neighborhood" coffee shoppe, and i will continue coming here for my morning treats. read more

Fast forward a few months, and she is gone. In her place are some of the nicest and friendlist baristas I have met; a very welcome change! I feel pretty hokey reviewing a Starbucks, but the Yelp window keeps telling me that I'm a regular here and that I should write a review. So here goes... First off, it's a Starbucks. I mean,the decor is similar to just about every other Starbucks out there, but they do have a decent sized seating area here at this location unlike the Starbucks next to the Wells Fargo on Homestead. That being said, the seats are almost always filled every time I walk into this place. Do people work? (I dunno... that's just one of the thoughts that runs through my head.) The baristas are so kind and caring! I ordered Decaf ice coffee and the barista took my order. After a few minutes when she noticed that they don't have a caramel decaf iced coffee she apologized me so nicely that I was kinda embarrassed. All the ladies working here are so polite and nice. The Internet is also way faster that the other Starbucks in the downtown mountain view. Also the parking is not like the Typical 1 hr parking of down town mountain view. Fond memories at this Starbucks. Spacious patio area, friendly environment, unlike some of the more recent Starbucks I've seen popping up that appear meant for cyborg/humanoid people of the future who walk around breathing from expensive oxygen tanks... (in Elizabeth Taylor voice) "For those who enjoy only the best oxygen available." You can smoke (I've quit, and it's bad for you so don't do it!), although it says you can't, it's as if their NO SMOKING SIGNS should really say (in Joan Rivers voice) ...YOU CAN SMOKE ALL YA WANT AT THIS STARBUCKS! You can have business meetings, laugh out loud, talk about your latest S and M party...It all feels good at this particular Starbucks...My only problem is the interior, with it's dome ceiling, replete with intense reverberation, anyone trying to have a quiet conversation is likely to feel they're speaking through a megaphone. read more

Convenient location along El Camino in a plaza with a Chipotle, Pizza My Heart, and Jamba Juice. The staff here can be a little rude, although I think the main barista was training a newbie so I can understand being under stress. Despite that, I ordered one of those seasonal Halloween fraps and was given something a little less than stellar. I totally know how annoying fraps can be to make, but with a pretty much empty store, surely they could have spent a little more time on it. Normally I wouldn't even mind a sloppy drink (it's all the same in my stomach anyway) but I was giving it to a friend to try and felt kinda bad giving her something all melty-looking. Anyway, I haven't been to this location often, so I don't know if this kind of attitude is consistent across the board or if it was just an off night. read more

My favorite Starbucks in Mountain View was packed today, and I had no desire to fight for a table. I went to the backup Starbucks with the funky seating. Today is probably not the best day to judge since there's a blatantly obvious new hire working the cash register. She'll learn, I'm sure. But for now, the lines are long. If I could give 3.5 stars, I would. Coffee is what you'd expect from Starbucks, but what makes this one important and unique? It's the ONLY work/studying-friendly cafe I know of in the immediate Mountain View area that is open until 11:00pm. The Starbucks on Castro, Red Rock, and Dana usually close-up shop by 10:00pm, which sucks if you need to be productive past that hour (I do! Frequently!). Seating can be hard to find - if you're bringing your laptop, make sure you're fully charged in case you're unlucky and can't find a spot near an outlet. read more

I wish I could give zero stars!!! I am so upset by my experience today. Unfortunately this is the closest to my home so I go here for convenience. First off last week I was so excited for my fav holiday drink caramel brûlée. Only to come home and taste it was gross! I let it be since it was day one of holiday drinks and they were really busy. This morning I ordered it again AND a toasted white mocha for my husband. We get home only to notice that literally there was less than 3/4 the cup full. I got a tall, so that meant there was like 2 sips for me. I took a small taste of my caramel brûlée and again gross. I was so mad. I drove back and asked for a remake bc I really was craving a good coffee. It took forever!!!!! I felt so bad, There was an older gentleman still waiting for his drink who was there the first time I went. The drink was ready but no one was calling his name. It wasn't even busy!! Anyways. Come home only to again taste a nasty caramel brûlée. The toasted white choc was fine. So then my husband switched with me because he felt bad, so I got to drink the white mocha. A few mins later he goes back to switch his, only to come back with another watery nasty drink. It was SOOO strange. Also I took a card for the store manager and have tried calling multiple times today and have not been able to get through. I'm so mad. I woke up excited for a great cup of coffee, ended up wasting almost an hour going back and forth only to be dissatisfied. Come on Starbucks. I often come here to do my homework, study, read, spend time with friends... When it comes to Starbucks, the only qualities that vary between one another are location and service. As we all know, the menu remains the same and consistent. Out of all the Starbucks Coffee shops in my area, I prefer this one the most. The layout is spacious and comfortable. There's plenty of outdoor patio seating, which is great for sunny days. There's a diverse age range in attending customers, allowing you to socialize with whomever you feel most comfortable with. My top choice of drink is the Chai Tea Latte because(and don't laugh) it tastes like Christmas; sugar, spice and everything nice!!! I recently tried the Gingerbread Latte(seasonal), which has a nice spicy, sweet kick. read more

They make great drinks, the place is usually clean, and not packed. So I would agree, great for studying , and it's also usually quiet. My only complaint would be the cashiers are too fast, they need to slow down and ask, "is that everything?". I know what I want, but still have to add stuff after they tell me a total. It creates a very awkward interaction with lots of stumbling. It has happened with several cashiers. I think there is still a way to give quick service in a thorough calm fashion. read more

This Starbucks is clean, relatively spacious, and conveniently located. Lots of people here sit, study, and peck away at laptops. They seem to have a relatively organized racket going, but I'm going to have to recommend elsewhere if you're looking for drip coffee. Let me explain. I asked when they had brewed their pots of drip, and they glanced back and said, about thirty minutes ago. I asked if I could get a fresh cup from a new batch and they refused. If I recall correctly, at other coffee shops, they'll brew new batches if the existing ones have been sitting longer than, oh, 15 or 20 minutes. Not here. I guess fresh coffee was too much to ask from Starbucks. Maybe this is why coffee snobs are often embarrassed to patronize our nation's most famous coffee chain. I don't know. The servers were otherwise nice. The espresso I ordered instead was fine though. No problems. Be sure to order "for here" if you're not taking your cup to go. You'll get a nice ceramic cup instead of the usual paper cup. I usually give 4 stars when a shop does all that I ask/expect. 5 means something special, and 3 means I felt something was missing. read more

After experimenting and trying to concoct the best tasting Starbucks I have successfully created the perfect ice cold latte. I would not recommend this Starbucks. I was there during the morning rush, and they couldn't keep up. They let the mobile orders pile up, and I saw four people have to ask for their mobile orders and tell them what their orders were. There was no sense of urgency on the employees' part and no apologies were made. After waiting about five minutes, I had to remind them to make my order as well. read more

I work in the plaza that this Starbucks is located in, so sometimes I'll go in and grab a drink before work or during my break and such. I'm pretty sensitive to lactose, so dairy is a pretty big deal for me. I ordered a tall gingerbread tea latte with soy instead of the 2% milk or whatever it is they use. I got charged for the soy, so I paid extra to make sure it was dairy free in essence. I was watching the young barista make the drinks. I saw her pouring milk into one of the cup things to make the latte. I was going to say something, but I thought it was intended for the customer in front of me, who I recall ordered a flat white or something. A few minutes later, I get my tea and head off to work. I think everything is fine with it when I drink it, but fast forward two hours later, I'm lying in bed at home, with uncomfortable symptoms that are related to my IBS and what happens if I have too much dairy... *sigh* :-\ Most likely won't return to this one for a while, because other Starbucks in the area have never had an issue with this. I mean, I know it's a new drink, but I've been ordering my Chai Tea latte with soy for months now and never once did I accidentally get it with regular milk. And yes, I could've said something, or the staff can follow the special order instructions that get written on the cup or into the POS so I wouldn't get charged extra to have IBS symptoms for no reason. Would give them 1 star but I'll give 'em an extra star for the relatively friendly service and convenient location. Next time I'll watch them make my drink and harp them if they try to put 2% milk in it. read more
