Stopped here for my birthday coffee and breakfast on my way to the one professional commitment I had today. Ordered ahead so thankfully got a 5 min order pickup parking spot, as parking is limited. Sadly, the order was missing something and when I tried to inquire about it (the first person I have interacted with in person today and on my birthday) was about the rudest barista I have ever encountered. I had to go back to wait in line at the register to have it corrected, when it was a simple request she could have handled. My drink was ready in a timely fashion. I ordered ahead on the app. It was my first time trying the pineapple drink, and idk if they didn't shake it well enough but it was all separated. Got my usual favorite and delicious pink drink and my guest got a yummy strawberry lemonade. Look, I know it's Starbucks but I admit that I love Starbucks. Don't hate. Plus it's conveniently located in the gulch and I'm really happy that it is. I came in when they were open for 2 days, and the morning line wasn't bad at all. I'm excited that this will be foot traffic primarily and hope that it won't have the same outrageous lines that West End, and other drive thru locations typically have. The layout is very conducive for quick service and catering to the coffee goers who are getting take out. This location has some tables but you can tell the intent is to serve people quickly and then move on. I'm glad! This is a large, cozy location with ample variety of seating. There is a fireplace with cozy armchairs, perfect for a casual coffee date or chat. There are long shared tables that are perfectly suitable for both groups or individuals. If you'd like some more privacy to focus on your work, single tables are available, as are booths. There is also a enclave-type space for maximum privacy, partially separated from the rest of the room by a frosted wall. In the several hours I was at my table completing a ridiculous amount of work, this location became very busy and rather noisy. If you don't mind the bustle, then you'll be fine (particularly if you choose a table by the window and away from the masses, as I did). I ordered a fine cup of Earl Grey tea, and a rather delicious almond croissant. read more

The service was quick, but the baristas were a little snippy and werent totally prepared with what pastries they had and what they didn't. The music is incredibly loud... and the patrons talk even louder so they can hear each other. Between the two, I don't think I could ever take any important calls here. So why four stars, you ask? This is a fairly large Starbucks location with a great open layout. A cozy fireplace is located in the middle of the room and plenty of seating located throughout. Outlets are located every few feet along the wall. The baristas here make damn good drinks. This is the best Starbucks that I have been to for doing school work. Other Starbucks have tables that are too small, at a bad height or not enough places to work. This Starbucks has lots of great work spaces (comfortable "lounging" chairs as well as tables with great access to power outlets.) The air conditioning is always on and it can get cold so bring a jacket if necessary. TLDR: great atmosphere for having a productive afternoon. Cold-blooded folks beware. read more

Huge Starbucks with lots of seating and more outlets than I have ever seen. They even have a separate room with a long table for studying. It's right next to Vanderbilt University, so I assume the student traffic here must be epic in season. The baristas are pleasant and pour a good cup. They've got a Clover machine too, if you're interested in the thicker, richer taste of that brewing method. Overall, a great place to drink good coffee and work. read more

The people who longer tend to be students, and being around students always gives me a charge of energy, as if I were still of that age as well. As a (recent) former Starbucks employee I am CONSTANTLY disappointed by this Starbucks. I now work at the children's hospital and stop by often to get a little pick me up before work. However every time I go, without fail, my drink is made wrong. Simple drinks like London fogs and americanos! Maybe they just went through a hiring period, however that's no excuse when Starbucks prices themselves on "standard". It would be one thing if it was one barista who made errors but the fact that I can order different drinks and go when different people are working and still have my drink poorly made is VERY frustrating. This location is wonderful! Its located smack dab in the middle of the Vanderbilt Hospital area. This location is very nice/large inside, and has a large outdoor sitting area. The inside has a wonderful layout. There is a fireplace in the middle! This is a great location to be when the weather starts to get cold! This location has all kinds of people coming through it! While I was sipping my latte I saw the Vanderbilt surgeon on his lunch break, he had X-rays hanging out of his scrub pockets?!?! I saw the Vanderbilt law frat boy students wearing the stereotypical Polo Ralph Lauren Chino Shorts above the knee, with the plaid tucked in shirt to go with it, and don't forget the Sperry Top-Sider boat shoes with no socks!!! We cant forget the Vanderbilt Business Management women sipping her Triple Venti Soy Latte with no foam, eagerly working on her i pad while sitting comfy in her Vera Wang fitted suit! Well fortunately for me Starbucks on 21st is about a 10 minute walk. Today I went to my local coffee mecca for a post-lunch caffeine injection. Little did I know that Starbucks is currently running a promotion on the new Blonde Roast. I tried it and it was delicious. Not only are they offering free tastings but you get a little VIA brew pack along with it! Free is always my favorite! I ended up getting a cup! And you wouldn't believe it if I told you but there were actually open tables and no line at 12:30 in the afternoon. I thought I was transported to the Twilight Zone. No thirteen year olds, not Twilight the vampire one. Sheesh! I have also become a huge advocate for reloading my registered gift card. Their real deserts are hidden and they rarely have any in stock. Asked for a chocolate chip cookie, nope. Sugar, nope. Chocolate chip cookie dough cake pop... you guessed it: no.
