More than ten years have passed and I'm back in Hampton Roads. I managed to pick a Starbucks where I've already been so this is an update. Arriving at 5:30am when it's still dark, there were two other customers in here with laptops. I was able to plug in and spend two hours sipping my coffee and writing Yelp reviews. The shop seems much louder than it was before. Is it because I'm ten years older? Wooden chairs scraping on the concrete floor are loud. Baristas talking at each other was loud. This is THE BEST Starbucks around. Ok, so maybe I'm biased but this is my favorite Starbucks in the area because everyone knows my name, and they're always friendly. Anytime I order, it's usually through the app because it's so convenient and also they rarely mess up my order. And on the rare occasions that they do, it's always an easy fix. This Starbucks is usually decently reliable, but this morning had a bit of a flop. I ordered via Uber Eats and when I got the order I discovered this green tape over the mouth piece. When I tried to peel it off, most of it remained. In order to drink from the lid I had to tolerate the taste of paper. In top of that, they did get my order wrong. Quick stop during our lunch break so we were a little crunches for time. Love the open concept when walking in; so much space! There's so many small but mighty touches in this store that make you feel a part of their family and I literally love it. There's a community board with the employees' names, a kindness bucket with notes to give or take, and a donation basket for the Norfolk SPCA. Of course, we were greeted as soon as we came in and honestly the best caramel macchiato I've had in a while! Even the area behind the counter was spacious enough for everyone to do their job and do it well. Might visit this location more often now that I've gotten a "taste". read more

Took a little while to get our order but the staff were very friendly and the store was clean.

No decaf for me. Place is clean. Staff is friendly enough. For medical reasons I cannot have caffeine. It was early in the day they said they didn't have decaf coffee, they said they wish they did. If I wanted decaf I would have to get an Americano. Im fine with that, I prefer to just get coffee but it's fine at least I have an option. I also understand that is pulled espresso with hot water. I make sure and remind them decaf, and I check the printout stuck to my cup, it says decaf. The problem is my heart was racing for the rest of the day and I never got to sleep that night. Bottom line if you want decaf go somewhere else. Anything else is fine, typical starbucks. I usually don't take the chance unless I can watch and make sure they take the grind from someplace else but I couldn't see and of course I had to wait so they had me sit while they made it. read more

Went through the drive-through to order a pumpkin cream cold brew which is not a very complicated order I wanted the vanilla syrup swatched to sugar-free and the woman interrupted me three times before I could finish my order to tell her that I wanted them swatched - Then I kindly said, "please let me finish my order" because she kept interrupting me. Then she hands the microphone to someone else, so I started from scratch. On top of it I'm in the drive-through and whenever she hands me my drink with cold foam she put a Frappuccino lid on top of it which defeats the entire purpose of ordering cold foam. This is one of few local Starbucks that has the basket for used coffee grounds that people can take for their gardens for free under Starbucks' "Grounds for your garden" program. I have visited this location several times under this pretext. The staff are pretty friendly and the service is fast. read more

I literally stopped going to this location after one particular time ... Let's start off with my literal order, which is : 3 blonde shots on lite ice (in whatever size cup i wanted for the day) add sweet cream add 2 pumps white mocha add 2 pumps caramel and then topped with salted cold foam on top Not too hard of a drink in my opinion but for some reason this location kept messing it up over and over and over again! My final straw was when they yet again got my order wrong and just stared at me when i said my order was wrong ... Then i guess the manager came up and said, "what's the problem?" and i told him it was wrong and he LITERALLY stood there as well and just said, "okay" .... Not once said he would or she would fix it ...So ever sense then i have avoided this location like a bad habit! The location on North Hampton Blvd now does an amazing job getting it right 100% of the time and i love it! read more

Went into this location today with my dog and was told I had to take my dog out because they do not allow animals. I read on the door that they welcome service animal's before entering the building to make sure my dog could enter. I pointed out the sticker on the door saying they welcome service animals. Rather than make a fuss or question in front of all the other customers I decided to leave the building. Today was the first day I left my house in a week due to the passing of my other dog. My husband forced me to get out of the house and get coffee hoping to lighten my mood. I won't go back to this location. read more

I usually pull up in the drive thru when I drop off my son and head to work. Everyone is always friendly and the drive thru always moves quickly. My last trip to this location was fantastic. I'd give them 6 stars if I could lol. It was my bday so I used my free bday gift reward and Nicole helped me in the drive thru. She wished me a happy birthday and even suggested I add a double shot and extra caramel drizzle to my coffee! She was very sweet & it's people like her that keep me coming back. This location is by far one of my favs. Not only is it easy to get to, but the team there is so sweet and kind (as in most locations) but they really do treat their loyal customers the best! I awaited the opening of this Starbucks for some time, watching its construction since Spring. Well, it's officially open...abandoning its old location next to T-Mobile and Walgreens a block over to a pair of new digs next to AT&T and Taco Bell. So what's my take? Hmmm, I'll try to be brief (yeah right, lol) so here we go... Location: Like a block over from the old location. This store is more visible mainly due to it's beautiful facade that makes it stand out from the ho hum architectural flavor of the Military Highway shopping corridor. It's still too early to tell how much of a headache parking will be because the other stores (AT&T and a mattress store) haven't opened yet as of this review. But I did notice that there are two reserved spots for energy efficient cars...as well as the Suburbans and Durangoes that were parked in them. Smh. Ambiance: This store is larger and much more spacious than the old store. But to me, the old store had an intimate vibe to it whereas this store feels cavernous. There are a lot more seats including a massive UFO-like table that sits in the entryway. Drinks/Staff: The same friendly and motivated crew moved into this location. I asked them how they liked their new digs and they all agreed that the drive thru window affected their morale. LOL! Overall, nice spacious store with visually appealing looks and a very friendly staff. Parking might be suspect when the other tenants in the shared building open but the drive thru will at least alleviate that. read more

I should own stock or be order the board of investors as much I spend a day a Starbucks- I ALWAYS Order from the app- the app makes it sooo much easier and faster especially in the morning- it's super easy to use (couldn't always say that) But always had a pleasurable experience at Starbucks other than My drinks are alittle complex . I order a 5 shot espresso over ice with 4 pumps classic and caramel drizzle only on top! This drink is not for the young buck coffee drinkers lol this drink is for those who need a coffee fix to help not become a mass murder in the morning! This place is just getting worse and worse it seems. There's a barista named Terrance who always seems to be overwhelmed when I come in here. There's about 4 employees. 2 in drive thru, one at the counter for the lobby and then Terrance makin drinks. He's throwing the ice scooper into the ice, slamming the sugar packet bins, and when I ask him how it's going he just opens his eyes really wide like he seen a ghost and just lets out a big breath of air. It literally took 8 minutes to get my iced coffee. All the tables are filthy. The sugar and napkins bins are empty on the counter. There's about 7 people waiting on drinks in the lobby. This place needs some help for sure. Good news though Terrance makes good coffee & that new turkey & stuffing panini is super good. Nice space. Large with enough room to move around and seat lots of people. I got my standard grande pike and then ordered a pumpkin scone but was handed the pumpkin muffin. 40 calories less than the scone so I was ok with it. This Starbucks also has a drive thru. Good outdoor seating and fairly quick drive through for this newly designed coffee shop. Unfortunately the style of the building is the only thing that separates it from other locations...so...if you're looking for the coffee quality consistency that's the trademark of Starbucks you won't be disappointed. read more

This Starbucks is so close to my house but the drive-thru is normally packed in the morning so I wasn't able to grab my favorite drink on the way to work many times. However, they are normally good at taking orders. I have been ordering the greentea frapp with only 1 pump of classic syrup or mocha frapp with an extra expresso shot and they turned out just be perfect, and not so many other places can give me the same taste for some reasons. The sandwiches are always good. Absolutely, I would visit this Starbucks few times on my day off, and on Sundays. Btw the Smores frapp with an extra expresso shot I ordered today was way too sweet. I'm not sure if they need to add caramel to the bottom of it. read more

I recently had the pleasure of visiting this location with my mother, who had happened to just be released from retina surgery. Because of her surgery, she has to keep her head down and for comfort reasons she rested her head on a neck pillow. I bought two venti beverages and egg bites, spending over $18. She drank her drink from a straw while her head was down. The manager came to us and said that he was going to ask us to leave because people are not allowed to "rest" on the furniture. I explained her surgery to him and that she is required to keep her head down and he said nothing and walked away. I totally understand if the place was full, only one other person in there at the time, and even if we had not purchased anything, but even still, we were customers and had only been there for a half hour! I am extremely disappointed in how we were treated at this location. Of all of the Starbucks I've been in, this is most certainly one of them (or did I use that line already in another review?....if so, sorry about that...). This one is really nothing all that special to be honest with you. The location is ehhh, so so. It was recently redone and all shiny and stuff, but there is still very limited outdoor seating, and that seating has a wonderful view of the parking lot. So yea, you come here for coffee. If you bring a friend, then you have some conversation. This isn't the sort of place, however, that you are likely to meet someone hanging around soaking up the vibe... On this particular visit, the service was kinda not so wonderful, I ordered my standard prior to noon Venti Bold (Sumatra if ya gots it), if took them an usually long time to put the cup under the nozzle and pull back the handle thingy...in fact, I actually had to remind them of it after about 10 minutes or so. Of course, they poured my coffee, apologized profusely, gave me a Free on Me Next Time coupon, patted me on the head, and sent me on my way. My husband and I are new to the area and wanted to try the closest Starbucks to our new place. It was a normal drive-thru experience until my order was wrong, I'm normally not one to complain and send it back. but I really wanted my favorite drink. As I sent it back I heard the employee say " originally it was a caramel ribbon crunch, now it's a caramel ribbon crunch with almond milk, no whip". I haven't been drinking dairy products for health reasons and decided to send it. I don't appreciate the comments and was polite about giving it back. One of my favorite Starbucks in the area. They're friendly and are traditionally more consistent with the drink orders. Also - this location is great for hanging out as they have plenty of seating compared to some others. My only gripe - bring back the Ham and Cheese Savory Foldover! It was so nice to not worry about getting kicked out for staying too long, or bothered every second.
