My friends and I had a girls night out at Cova for my birthday! We took a candle making class with Morgan.. She's so sweet!!. The ladies at the class were the best. We made some new friends, had lots of laughs, and really enjoyed all the activities that came with the class. We also got a complementary drink. I choose a cranberry, cherry, lime soda. It was such a pretty color, and really refreshing. I'd definitely get it again. My friends enjoyed their eggnog martinis as well. They looked tasty!! They had several coffee drinks, different beers which you can serve yourself, pound cakes (from Pwnd cakes by Jen), cake pops, cupcakes, and etc. Everything looked really good. [[HIGHLIGHT]]There's plenty of seating inside. But they also have a few different tents set up where other activities are going on.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] If you check their calendar on their site, you can see dates for other events. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The atmosphere is a vibe. Very laid back!![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The staff was very friendly and informative!! It was my first time here, but I'd like to go back. They also have different food trucks on site, check online for that as well. Definitely check them out!!

Bea Mellow Melts hosted a candle making class at COVA Brewing Company and my friends and I thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Since we were celebrating our friend's birthday, it made the night extra special. [[HIGHLIGHT]]As soon as I arrived, the tables were set very festively and included all the candle items we needed.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] With the purchase of our event, we were given a drink ticket as well. With this being my first time at COVA, I couldn't wait to try their drinks. I ordered the Eggnog Espresso Martini and it was phenomenal!!! The event was great. We picked out our scents and the color for our candles and played Bingo while we waited for the candles to dry. Each group also made gingerbread houses and the COVA staff chose the best house! We won of course!!! I love that COVA hosts these types of events! There was a food truck out there as well, which was great because I was starving. [[HIGHLIGHT]]They also have ample outdoor seating, so I can only imagine how nice is it to sit out there in the warmer months.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The staff were awesome, the drinks were great and I can't wait to return!

I am from Norfolk originally and have since moved away, but come back every so often to visit family. I've seen COVA grown over the years and am more and more impressed each time I come back. I love both the cafe and brewery aspect, the pastries and rotating food trucks, indoor and outdoor seating. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Their outdoor seating with turf, lawn chairs, bonfires, and canopy were new to me this time around and I loved what they've done with the place![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] So perfect for a nice day like the day I went. [[HIGHLIGHT]]There were multiple events going on when I was there: a birthday party, book club meeting, and military event, it was so nice to see the sense of community COVA brought.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Lastly, I had their Easter espresso martini and it was delicious!

Stopped back in for their 5 year birthday party celebration and had a great drinks (coffee and brews) treats, and great service! [[HIGHLIGHT]]The place has not changed, still lots of seating inside and outside with a larger area outside where they had a food truck and other fun vendors for their celebration including a band.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's a nice large space so doesn't feel crowded.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Sunday morning at Cova -- chill vibes, sunshine, and zero judgment for choosing caffeine over beer (or both, no one's stopping you).[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Staff was super friendly and welcoming. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Huge outdoor patio for soaking up the sun or plenty of indoor space if you want to sit next to the tanks and pretend you understand brewing science.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Iced Honey Lavender Latte -- light, floral, and just sweet enough to make you feel fancy. Iced Dirty Chai Tea Latte (extra shot) -- absolute perfection, like a cozy hug with a caffeine punch. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Perfect spot whether you're fueling up for the day or winding down from last night.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

[[HIGHLIGHT]]COVA Brewing Company is a great indoor/outdoor venue with craft beers and a food truck.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] It's the long aqua building just north of the bridge over Little Creek, in East Ocean View across US-50 Shore Drive from East Beach. [[HIGHLIGHT]]On the west there's a park-like area with umbrellaed picnic tables and other seating, and a playground for the kids![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]On the east, there's indoor seating and seating under canopies. I cant even guess how much space, but certainly seating for over 100.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]We sat under the spacious breezy canopies, and got our beverages indoors.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] There are 18 or so self-serve taps, with craft beers, ciders, and hard lemonade. They also have several cocktails and wines, coffees, teas, and kids beverages. There were plenty to choose from, and I loved their smooth dark nitro, while others in our group liked their sours and IPAs. The food truck this day was Los Birria Brothers, set up just to the west of their building, and we raved over the delicious tender flavorful birria tacos, with succulent consommé that may never come out of my shirt :-). To park behind their place, turn west on Pretty Lake Ave at the long aqua building, just north of the bridge over Little Creek. On a Saturday around 2:30pm, their parking was quite crowded, so come early or leave someone to keep circling in the car until soneone l[[HIGHLIGHT]]eaves... Coffee and beer!? Whaaaa [[HIGHLIGHT]]Cool spot in Ocean View.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I don't usually go here but this is definitely the stop. Opens at 7 for those who want that early coffee, and then at 9 for drinks such as lavender lemonade. Changed the game! They also have cool rotating food trucks by the side.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]What a fun place.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The beer was very good and being able to draw the tap for yourself was awesome. Limited food beyond pastries but hear they have food trucks. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Great outdoor area.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Coffee looked very tasty. We enjoyed this spot and think you will too. Give them a shot.

COVA is a coffee bar and brewery. The whole setup is fun and inviting! There is a large inside tap room and great outdoor seating as well. Perfect place to meet up with friends! The Tap wall is self serve brews, wine and cocktails...with dozens of options. Non-alcoholic beverages are also available. Children are welcome, if supervised We had espresso beverages to start our day. Our Barista was super friendly, and made great beverages as well. If I lived here, this would be a regular hangout! Did I mention that it is just off the Chesapeake Bay?

Cova Brewing offers a unique and fun experience with its self-serve system, where you tie your credit card to a swipe card for on-tap pours of beer, wine, and low-alcohol cocktails. I love being able to experiment with different combinations to create delicious mixed drinks! The outdoor seating is plentiful, making it a great spot to relax, and there's always a food truck on site--this time, it was El Ray 2, which added to the fun. Plus, Cova also sells coffee and selected dessert pairings for a complete outing. Highly recommended for a casual and enjoyable day or evening!

In Norfolk for vacation, trying different cafes in the area. This place was so nice! The outside area is HUGE, tons of picnic benches & seating & sandbox for kids. The coffee & muffin was delicious! Everyone was super nice too!

Very nice place no matter the weather or time of day! The service is fast and friendly! The gentleman explained the process of pour over Ethiopian coffee while making it! Great snacks as well! Highly recommend this place!!!

Our Yelp Elite manager works there and had told me to come by, so I decided that was the night. I grabbed a glass of Moscato while we chatted, and she convinced me to order their hot honey pepperoni pizza to take home. I had literally just had pizza the night before at another event, so I wasn't planning on getting more, but she insisted I try it. I'm so glad I did. I'm not usually someone who goes for hot honey or anything spicy, but this pizza was incredible. The crust was perfectly cooked, the dough had great texture, and the balance between the sweetness of the honey and the pepperoni was surprisingly addictive. It was cheesy, flavorful, and honestly hard to stop eating. I had planned to take it straight home, but I had to sneak a bite while it was still hot. The atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming, and it's such a great neighborhood spot. It made for the perfect stop during a beautiful evening walk. I ended up taking the rest of the pizza home, and it was the perfect dinner while relaxing and winding down for the night. I'll definitely be back, especially now that I know how good their pizza is. Bold Mariner is a great local place with good energy and seriously good food.

I selected The Veil as the spot for my UYE and enjoyed an evening of talking shop with the great J David H. while we drank those great beers. The Veil is a comfortable spot in the Railroad District and we were sitting in their dining area on the ground floor. Big tables and plenty of room this afternoon. Which we needed because that burger and fries needed elbow room to enjoy. I'd only suggest a pump-based ketchup dispenser as the packet thing is tedious. They opened here in 2019 - well after I was done with my projects in Virginia Beach and Chesapeake - transforming this three-story space into a family-friendly taproom and restaurant. The full kitchen specializes in indulgent smashburgers and Neapolitan-style pizzas that pair perfectly with the brewery's bold stouts, hazy IPAs, and seasonal sours. We didn't have the opportunity to enjoy the Only You Bar & Lounge upstairs. Maybe that's the next visit to Hampton Roads. [Round number review 1500 in Virginia - 911 of 2025 - 24467 overall]

I only experienced the downstairs on my visit with Yelp friend Bruce K. The Happy Hour pricing was a draw as well as stellar reviews. Parking in their own smallish lot on a weekday was no problem. They also have free off street parking too! No debris in sight on my walk up. The signage is the building itself which is darn cool. They also offer outdoor seating. I started off with a Blend which is a Pale and Pilsner if I recall and it was tasty. The counter service was excellent. You can cash tip or card. Customers can also leave a tab open. The seating is wood bench type that comfortably seats six. The aesthetics of the first floor is high ceilings, concrete floors and walls. The kitchen has a garage door over the front. The space was previously a restaurant, but before may have been a factory, or warehouse. Only negative was music was a bit elevated for talking. Prior to Happy Hour concluding I ordered a $6 on special smash burger that comes with fries. No other dudes are available. The regular price is $12, so this is a deal friends. In about 20 minutes burgers and fries were delivered to the table. The look was downright amazing, so pretty much knew this bad boy was gonna be a hitter. The burger comes with double patty, cheese, Dukes mayo, lettuce a pickle. If something else I'm sorry I forgot. The first bite was phenomenal! Fresh bread, perfectly cooked 80/20 beef which was not greasy. The construction was a masterpiece. The thin fries were cooked crispy and seasoned well, yum! Honestly I could eat that burger everyday. The whole experience was exceptional and worthy of a full 5. Totally recommend checking The Veil Brewing out.

One unique thing about this place is that it's connected to Emerson's cigar lounge, so if you're into cigars you can smoke either inside or outside in the designated areas. Not something you see at many breweries. Another thing I appreciated was that there are outdoor areas where kids aren't allowed. A lot of breweries turn into unofficial playgrounds with kids running around everywhere, which can definitely kill the vibe. There were still kids here, but they weren't everywhere, so it struck a nice balance. They also have a good selection of seltzers for people who aren't big beer drinkers, which is a nice option to have. The bartenders were cool and easygoing too. Generally speaking, I thought the prices of the beers were pretty comparable to other similar places in the area. Also, the staff was pretty friendly and helpful. Note to dog owners: The outdoor area has a 3-bark rule in that it's highly recommended that if your dog is constantly barking, then you should leave. The bar itself has picnic table like seating and a huge open area outside, with each table having a QR code for food/beer etc. This last time, I had the pimento grilled cheese, with tomato soup and it's the perfect snack for a winter day. When heading towards the bathroom, there was a huge chalkboard of posted events coming up as well as another section for events. I really do like a brewery that has events in the area to make people come and visit and it gives people a chance to experience cool events in the area while having a familiar place to go afterwards or before. I Came here for coffee one morning, and the coffee as well was excellent. I enjoyed the 007 which is a shaken espresso, Highly recommend! They also have pastries, we got the blueberry scone, chocolate chip scone and the cheese danish. All were great and tasted fresh. Not what you would expect from a brewery in the morning, but it was well worth the trip. The brewery itself was at a low volume and had great sunlight peeking through for a great coffee in the morning. Parking was a bit rough when it was busy on a Saturday afternoon, but there was a separate lot if you can't find parking in the main one. We only waited about 10 minutes for a spot and it ended up not being too tight.

This is a great spot to drink and hangout with a date, friends, or even family. There's tons of…read moreboth indoor and outdoor seating available. A great way to socialize and enjoy the warm weather. The drink options look great, from beer, to mixed drinks, to even coffee. However, we didn't have a chance to try them this time around. We came in for a late lunch, the menu has some great options. Unfortunately, my food came out about 15 minutes before my husband's, so we couldn't really enjoy our meal together. 2 meals, no drinks (not even a soda), and 2 sauces came out to around $40. Honestly, I wouldn't pay that again for the portion of food you're getting. For food at this price point, I think there's better places. However, the vibes are great and this is an awesome spot for drinks. Definitely recommend for drinks & hanging out!
