They offer a great selection of coffee and espresso-based drinks, along with a variety of baked goods if you're looking for a snack. The staff was friendly, knowledgeable, and happy to answer questions or make recommendations for those who may be undecided. Wow! COVA Brewing it's been so long and finally! I frequent the area and feel bad I've neglected this awesome Norfolk establishment for so long. This review actually has two great businesses because I visited Klassic Doughnut's food truck too! Ok first things first. Every Wednesday through this Summer Klassic Doughnuts food stand will be available at COVA 8-11 AM. They are in my opinion the best cake doughnuts in our area. They are a major draw for COVA. I purchased a few to go. With COVA I specifically wanted to try their coffee. I was blown away upon arrival to see their outdoor space. It's huge and beautiful. On a weekday at 11 AM without school even out was busy! The counter service was helpful and friendly. I told the staff I wanted a black coffee and was directed to what beans were being offered. I opted for an Ethiopian pour over. The coffee comes in a large and priced competitive. It took a bit with being busy and a pour over, but boy was the wait worth it. Probably the best coffee I've had in any recent memory and I drink a lot of coffee. The space inside is compact, but they offer a side patio that's covered too! COVA is late to offering coffee, maybe 5 years or so. However, they are established with brewing award winning beer. I chatted with a female brewer a minute who was so sweet and invited me back for a glass. They also have a bakery case with offerings that looked good. So I need to return. So exciting to share such a gem in East Beach. Parking may be an issue, but off street neighborhood streets are available. read more

I wanted a place I could go and have coffee but also just enjoy outside, and Cova is exactly that! While they are a brewing company, during the day, they sell coffee and lattes. I like that while it is in Norfolk technically, it is super close to where I live in Virginia Beach. We tried their seasonal blueberry crumble latte and also had their Irish coffee. Both were very good ! I will say, they do not have a liquor license, so the Irish coffee does not come with Whiskey. Perfectly fine with me but wanted to set the expectation! I also tried their seasonal blueberry sweet cream and ohhh my goodness I wish I could buy a some to take home. So fresh, so good! The staff was super nice, and the outside area is a huge space with a variety of seating arrangements. It was a chillier morning and I do wish the fire pits were going but otherwise, super great, relaxing place to be! I really enjoyed my morning with my sister thanks to Cova! read more

This is my first time going to Cova. I've passed it a lot in my travel since I live out in the Oceanview area so I decided to stop in because it was my day off. I opted for the beer wall, which is amazing you put a card on file and they give you a Covid card. You use the Covid card to sample anything from the beers to various wine spritzer and everything was amazing. I do have food allergies so the staff pointed me into the direction of a gentleman by the name of Matt Matt is, I guess the broom master in the back so he gave me all the ins and outs of what to stay away from and what to watch out for which I highly appreciate when anybody takes their time to make sure that you don't die on their watch or end up at the hospital on our watch so if that being said, I would awesomely awesomely recommend cover for you, your friend your family if you just wanna have some time alone and work on some projects which I plan on doing in the near future so Cova, I will be back read more

My friends and I had a girls night out at Cova for my birthday! We took a candle making class with Morgan.. She's so sweet!!. The ladies at the class were the best. We made some new friends, had lots of laughs, and really enjoyed all the activities that came with the class. We also got a complementary drink. I choose a cranberry, cherry, lime soda. It was such a pretty color, and really refreshing. I'd definitely get it again. My friends enjoyed their eggnog martinis as well. They looked tasty!! They had several coffee drinks, different beers which you can serve yourself, pound cakes (from Pwnd cakes by Jen), cake pops, cupcakes, and etc. Everything looked really good. There's plenty of seating inside. But they also have a few different tents set up where other activities are going on. If you check their calendar on their site, you can see dates for other events. Bea Mellow Melts hosted a candle making class at COVA Brewing Company and my friends and I thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Since we were celebrating our friend's birthday, it made the night extra special. As soon as I arrived, the tables were set very festively and included all the candle items we needed. With the purchase of our event, we were given a drink ticket as well. With this being my first time at COVA, I couldn't wait to try their drinks. I ordered the Eggnog Espresso Martini and it was phenomenal!!! The event was great. We picked out our scents and the color for our candles and played Bingo while we waited for the candles to dry. Each group also made gingerbread houses and the COVA staff chose the best house! We won of course!!! I love that COVA hosts these types of events! There was a food truck out there as well, which was great because I was starving. They also have ample outdoor seating, so I can only imagine how nice is it to sit out there in the warmer months. I am from Norfolk originally and have since moved away, but come back every so often to visit family. I've seen COVA grown over the years and am more and more impressed each time I come back. I love both the cafe and brewery aspect, the pastries and rotating food trucks, indoor and outdoor seating. Their outdoor seating with turf, lawn chairs, bonfires, and canopy were new to me this time around and I loved what they've done with the place! So perfect for a nice day like the day I went. There were multiple events going on when I was there: a birthday party, book club meeting, and military event, it was so nice to see the sense of community COVA brought. The place has not changed, still lots of seating inside and outside with a larger area outside where they had a food truck and other fun vendors for their celebration including a band. COVA Brewing Company is a great indoor/outdoor venue with craft beers and a food truck. It's the long aqua building just north of the bridge over Little Creek, in East Ocean View across US-50 Shore Drive from East Beach. On the west there's a park-like area with umbrellaed picnic tables and other seating, and a playground for the kids! On the east, there's indoor seating and seating under canopies. I cant even guess how much space, but certainly seating for over 100. We sat under the spacious breezy canopies, and got our beverages indoors. There are 18 or so self-serve taps, with craft beers, ciders, and hard lemonade. They also have several cocktails and wines, coffees, teas, and kids beverages. There were plenty to choose from, and I loved their smooth dark nitro, while others in our group liked their sours and IPAs. The food truck this day was Los Birria Brothers, set up just to the west of their building, and we raved over the delicious tender flavorful birria tacos, with succulent consommé that may never come out of my shirt :-). To park behind their place, turn west on Pretty Lake Ave at the long aqua building, just north of the bridge over Little Creek. On a Saturday around 2:30pm, their parking was quite crowded, so come early or leave someone to keep circling in the car until soneone leaves... The Tap wall is self serve brews, wine and cocktails...with dozens of options. Non-alcoholic beverages are also available. Cannot improve too much on my earlier post. Totally expensive East Beach vibe with price and clientele. A modest pull from the in-wall taps calculates to over $12.00 for 16 oz brew. We just did a total of 15 one oz sips of four different products and that cost $17.00, including tax and tip. One tap sputtered and drained as I was attempting a pour and as we left, it had been noted and it was taken off our tab. That was nice. The area has a huge outdoor space and apparently one HC space in the back. Doubtful we will return unless it's a Thursday evening when (we are told) our favorite food truck is servicing COVA. Super cute place by east beach. I got the spinach and feta bear claw and an iced latte. I was hesitant on the bear claw but it was so good! I was looking for something savory and light and it was perfect.the coffee was somewhat on the bold side but still really good. The staff was very patient with me and assisted me in making a decision because I'm just so indecisive. The only thing I didn't like was the parking situation. The brewery sits on one side, featuring a long wall of beer dispencers and various sized cups. The system is digital and looks very updated. They also had many different beers to choose from. I ordered the hot Biscoff latte, the iced biscoff latte, the hot caramel mochiatto, the cookie dough cupcake, and the cookies and cream cupcake. We stopped here for some beers during our last afternoon in Norfolk. The people here were really friendly and I loved that they have both a good beer selection and a good coffee selection! They also had some bakery items available at the coffee counter that looked good, but we didn't partake this time. This place has a large amount of outdoor space, including a covered area (while we were there at least) where a band played which was awesome. It was too hot for me outside when we were there, so we sat inside. Space is more limited indoors, but we were still able to find a spot easily. For the beers, you get a card that you scan at each tap and can pour as little or as much as you want, so it's perfect for sampling smaller amounts of different beers to find one you like. We tried several smaller pours to experience more variety and enjoyed everything we tried. I liked you could tap the beer name to get a description of the flavor profile. Overall, this was a great place to enjoy our last bit of vacation mode before getting ready to head home and I'd definitely return! read more

Amazing vibes and amazing drinks!!! I recently moved to VA and this was the first place that my friends took me and I loved the experience! They have a great selection of beer and other drinks, great music and it's a really bright/vibrant environment! During the day, they give really good coffee and snacks. During the afternoon/evening time, they'll have different food trucks to go with your drink. They also have a great seating arrangement outdoors. SUPER PET FRIENDLY ENVIRONMENT!!! Even if you don't bring a dog with you, 9 out of 10 times you'll just be surrounded by dogs and it'll just make the experience even better! I've heard good things about this place from friends so maybe I just came at a bad time. I walked in to order and the girl behind the counter did not seem very happy to see me and was pretty rude during our interaction. I told her it was my first time here and asked her what she recommended and she literally shrugged her shoulders at me. I ended up getting the summer flight and she rolled her eyes!!! I got rang up and waited for my drinks and there was no smile or anything I said thank you and walked away. As a manager of a restaurant WOW (warm open welcome) is always something that is trained into all employees. The flight was not too bad I wanted to try a bit of everything and it was pretty good besides the espresso sour. Just not my cup of tea but that's not their fault. Thought this was just a brewery. Well what a nice surprise to see they are way more than that. I looked them up before we went because they are not close to our house. They have different food trucks on different days. So we picked a day we liked the food truck. The food truck was THE BEST. WENG'S kitchen is what it was called. Lumpia, pancit and teriyaki chicken. Someone really thought this through....Coffee and beer all in one place? Yes, please! Not that I drink, because alcohol doesn't agree with me, unfortunately. Like allergic-doesn't-agree-with-me. I get all red, blotchy, short of breath etc...I know...But my husband does (drink beer) and I like coffee/tea drinks so this would make a great date spot. I came without him for my first visit though. I went to check it out with some new friends and made it the second stop on the Summer Trail of the Coastal Coffee Trail. - Parking - Ok, tricky. When you turn onto Pretty Lake Ave, DO NOT turn in to the "DO NOT ENTER" part right next to the brewery LOL. You would think that would be the obvious spot to turn in to some sort of parking, but it's not parking. After having checked out the place, that must be where the guest food trucks park. You can either park on the small stretch of street on Pretty Lakes Ave right after the "DO NOT ENTER" section. You can definitely park all along the back black fence in the dead end. Don't park in the East Beach Shoppes lot next door. I guess people got the same idea in the past and there are signs everywhere that you will be towed. And if all is full, you can also find street parking on the other side of Shore Drive (but that seems far and complicated LOL) - Vibe - Coffee counter is to the right, brewery to the left. Love the layout, decor and colors in there. Just nice and bright. There were outlets by the booth seating and they have wifi, so it was great place to do some work! - TLC - There were two girls working and they were really nice, helpful and chill. - Noms & Sips - They have a case of goodies that have been locally sourced with local businesses. I noticed Pownd Cakes by Jen, Staz-a-licous and Carolina Bakery cupcakes. There were some savory Bear Claws and bagels too. I had the DIrty Chai, Iced Sweet Cream Nitro with Cream and a Banana Chocolate Chip Muffin. I am a Chai girl and COVA Brewing Co's is awesome! I got mine Dirty and it was the perfect balance of coffee and chai. The chai had a great blend of spice. I'll have to have the Chai plain next time to taste it in its purest form, but definitely one of the best Chais I've had in CoVA so far. The Banana Chocolate Chip muffin was slightly dry, but still moist enough. Warming it up would have probably done the trick. I'll have to ask if that is an option next time. If you want more than just baked bites, they also have a partnership with Mahalo Poke House (located in East Beach Shoppes). You can order via a QR code and they'll deliver directly to CoVA Brewing Co! Great place to sip on good drinks, get some bites and do some work! Nice little bar space with a great atmosphere as well as a good selection of different beverages and coffee. Having the outdoor location adds a nice touch to allow easy access to food trucks in the evening as well as a great space to hang out. Beers were very good without having anything that particularly shocked or wowed me. Definitely a lot of selection s though that all taste like a good example of each. So perfect for sipping and hanging out like this place is cared for. Only downside only ran into was the beers being charged when it was out. Being self-served, one of the taps was out but it is still running up a charge. I can see that being a problem if you don't notice you're being charged. Staff though was very easy going about taking it off when I went to get them. Parking is definitely a bit limited without parking in the nearby shopping center. But with all the amenities and great service it's a good place to hang out. read more

I will absolutely re-do my review after also trying the brewery portion of this place. So far, I've only tried the coffee shop. The space is huge; both indoors and outdoors with tons of varying seating options, games, etc. When I visited, they also had a donut food truck that smelled and looked incredible. It seemed that everyone was enjoying them, as well. I will definitely try them in the future. Coffee-wise, I got a decent vanilla latte. It was a bit overly creamy, lacking that nice coffee flavor, but I did enjoy it. This will definitely be on my rotation of coffee shops. read more
