One of my favorite Starbucks locations! There's lots of natural light and it's very spacious. People tend to stay for a while with their laptops, so it can be hard to find a seat during peak hours, but I still love working here. The drinks are consistently good, so nothing much to add there. There's plenty of parking available with street, garage, and lot options nearby. In the summer, the AC is quite strong, so don't forget to bring a cardigan if you're planning to stay for a long time. This is a super-busy place and I only go there when I have to. It is in a great location and the interior space is nice. But, be prepared to wait as the baristas here are a little slow. There should be a sign or arrow on the ground that tells you how the line forms. Consequently, people are constantly cutting each other because they do not know where the back of the line is. Also, I watched the barista make a coffee for an employee, who was not working, before the rest of us who had been waiting several minutes. Perks of the job, I imagine. Get yourself noise cancelling headphones and this room is so comfy, sunny, and just about half of us were on a zoom call. You don't hear the coffee machines because it's slightly separated. My previous review penned in 2022 was for the former location. This new location was better and more convenient. AMBIANCE 4/5 I do like the natural lighting here, much brighter than the previous location. Then again it could get so hot sitting by the side of the glass wall when there was sun with temp outside at about 70F. SERVICE 3/5 Service was fine, I missed the more personable baristas in Atlanta. Even those on Stanford campus were much friendlier. I am glad the baristas seemed to be cheery among themselves and always in conversations. At least they seemed happy. Came in on a Saturday around 1030 and while there was a line to order my drink came out super fast. A huge plus that there were a ton of tables inside and outside. This is a nice contrast to other Starbucks which are very, very dark and CRAMMED. Some roomy seating. If you are a rewards member you should get free refills on brewed coffee and teas. And if you get a refill you should get a WHOLE NEW DRINK. But the server didn't even know about the policy and when she asked her manager the manager said yes. And she just added water to my used cup and my used tea bag... Another sad Starbucks. Why is it that they can't understand an iced vente latte with chocolate cold cream and whipped cream? For some reason they confused the cold cream and the whipped cream or leave one or the other off. Thank goodness for Starbucks customer service help line. I have tried many of the different pastries at Starbucks. The latest was the sugar plum. The Sugar Plum Cheese Danish was nice when it was hot and toasty. I think the flavor reminded me of ligon berry. In any case the flavor was very light and not strong at all. It was 3.45 before tax approximately. I have also tried the Cheese Danish $3.25 approximately. I like it best when it is hot and toasty because the cheese is creamier then. I think I will have to try it again soon. The Chocolate Croissant is also approximately the same price and also tastes best hot and toasty. Once it gets to room temperature or near there it's best to heat it back up a little. The pasty could be a bit dry without the melty chocolate. I do wish the Almond Croissant didn't have almond slivers in the top. Otherwise, I would like it better. The best part about it was the Almond Pastry Cream. The Almond croissant's filling is a simple mixture of butter, almond flour, sugar, eggs, and almond extract. I haven't seen it for a while so it might be discontinued or mostly out of stock. It was approximately $3.45 I don't think I have had the Butter Croissant because I thought it would be like the other ones just without a filling. $2.95 I like the ham and cheese croissant. It's good for breakfast or lunch and is quite filling. It was approximately $4.25 I would get this one multiple times a week when hungry. I hadn't tried the spinach feta and egg white wrap at approximately $4.25 I haven't tried the egg bites. They have 3 kinds at $4.65: *Bacon & Gruyere Egg Bites *Egg White & Roasted Red Pepper Sous Vide Egg Bites *Kale & Portabella Mushroom Sous Vide Egg Bites Out of the three, the only one I would pick would be the Bacon & Gruyere Egg Bites anyway. read more

What rude staff here. This evening during my visit here, my drink with oatmeal didnt have its usual sweetness that Starbucks oatmilk always has. I asked the barista who made it if it was oatmilk that was added, to which he angrily responded "Its oatmilk". Me- "Oh ok. It just usually has a sweet flavor". Barista- "We got a different brand! They've closed the 276 Univ Ave locale and built this new one. Apparently they're going to demo that building and bring up some new retail space. It's funny to see people walk up the old space and look completely out of sorts because they can't get their Starbucks. This new one is only a block away, plebeians! I'm usually not that big of Starbucks but I've had an interesting night and ended up here around 12:30am. The events leading up to here? Lets recap... First i was having steak with some friends, while the SF 49ers were roaming around us (see the review for Hangar Steak). I then went to Town in San Carlos to have a drink with them (where they live). Since they were yawning at 10pm I told them to just head home while I waited for the train. As we were leaving, a group of four women told me to join them. What the hell right? My friends leave me and I figure I would be entertained for an hour or so, meeting new people in the process. So, we're sitting outside having some lively conversation, and another group of four women start talking to us. I've now got 8 women around me and every single dude in San Carlos is looking our way. I felt like a straight up pimp. Pretty soon I realize that I need to get to the train, I bid my adieus, and as I rush over, I see it pulling away. Son of a bitch bastard. Luckily, as I'm pondering my options, the SamTrans comes pulling up and I realize this will take me as far as Palo Alto and perhaps I can just cab it home. So I hop on, joining the group of late night partiers, workers and assorted other vagabonds. Let me tell you, the bus at this hour is one interesting, crazy place. I get to downtown Palo Alto. Do I take the VTA? Grab a cab? Man I'm thirsty, but I don't want to drink alcohol anymore. I start making my way down Univ and pass the hoards of drunkards, realizing things are mostly closed. As I get to this block I see that the new hours for Starbucks is now 1am on the weekend. Holy shit! I didn't think I'd be so happy to go here. As I walked in I was greeted by two friendly staff (remember it's late at this point) who make a quick beverage with a smile. Where did they hire these guys? The old Starbucks down the street was filled with surly patrons, and slow ass staff. What a refreshing change. I grab my drink, and hit the little patio area with heat lamps outside. I read the paper, collect my thoughts, and then head off to the next train. What a night, with a surprising moment of clarity provided by of all places, Starbucks. read more

It's A-OK. Not an amazing Starbucks, not terrible either. Here is the holy Palo Alto, where companies like Google and Facebook sit so close nearby. I expect super fast fucking internet at a place like Starbucks in this part of town, not 20 Mbps down which is what I got when I speedtest'ed. But onto the coffee. It goes without saying that Starbucks is pretty consistent no matter where you go, though there are definitely out of stock days where they're out of one ingredient or two. The other issue with this particular Starbucks is the inconsistency of service. The drinks are fine, when I went, but, I think this chalks up to the capacity issues that this particular Starbucks faces. It is quite in downtown of Palo Alto, so a lot of foot traffic comes in. Even with mobile order technology, we're talking about a town that is highly high-tech, so when hundreds of mobile orders come in, it kinda destroys the purpose of mobile orders in mitigating in-person orders. There's just too many people crammed into one Starbucks Palo Alto. And yes, I came in at multiple times of the day on a Monday and Tuesday. It wasn't any better on either day, and as far as I know there weren't any special events going. Just another work day. I don't know if I feel more sorry for the staff that work here, or more disappointed in how corporate didn't build their business to scale. Time and time again here in California, especially in northern California, I'll see hardworking baristas lose an unfair fight against a horde of customers coming in. Maybe it's time for Starbucks to rethink their mobile order strategy and by extension, how they get the product to the consumer. read more

The quality of each Starbucks is a hard thing to rate. Everyone is trained to make the same drinks, offer the same food and the interior of almost every Starbucks resembles each other. What I think stands out about this Starbucks is the staff. I don't go to this Starbucks often but the times that I have, everyone is very nice and friendly and I appreciate that. I like feeling like people enjoy their jobs. I went to Starbucks yesterday with my boyfriend and I really appreciated that the barista remade my boyfriend's drink because he thought it was too sweet. We received no attitude from the barista and I think that makes a big difference in how you feel about an establishment. read more
