Updated review: These Baristas are really awesome. If I could giev more than 5 stars, honestly, I would. I was having a really bad day today and when Elisha asked "Hows your day"- she actually meant it as a conversation and listened while I briefly spat out the sh*t that went down that was bringing me down. She agreed that really does suck and after I ordered told me my coffee was on her today. Really- it is such a kind small gesture but lifted my spirits. Small acts of human kindness should be shared because in my opinion- it is the little things that matter. Also, Peter and Lucy are always wonderful and keep the busy morning crowd going with great spirits. In closing, I love my Wayland Sq Starbucks- if it were a person I would want to marry it... or at least be besties. read more

5 stars for a Starbucks? Yes, and here's why this particular chain coffee shop rules: 1. Free parking - there are very few places where you can park for free in the city. Even when you are fortunate to be able to park for free, there is often a time limit. If you are fortunate to get one of this Starbucks' spots, you can stay there as long as you'd like! 2. Outdoor seating - and tons of it! There's nothing better than people watching in Way.and Square with a Mocha Light cappuccino. 3. Huge bathroom with baby changing station - if you have a child, this means you have found the holy grail. This clean restroom is big enough for a person with a wheelchair or a stroller, and also has a kangaroo care changing station. To my knowledge, this is the only place around the boulevard that has a changing station. If you are going for a walk on blackstone boulevard with your baby, make sure you stop here at some point so that you can do a proper diaper change. Other venues nearby have small basement bathrooms that are unsuitable for baby changing. 4. Friendly staff- need I say more? 5. Fireplace - cozy on up with free free wifi, or grab a book, and enjoy your fresh drink by the glowing embers. In the end, this chain coffee shop goes above and beyond other ones that I know. *UPDATED* Please see below for original review. I stopped by the other morning and the barista acknowledged the order mishap and gave me two free drink cards. Some mornings I stop and and my drink is exactly what I ordered. Some mornings (like today) not only do I get the wrong size (didn't have time for them to make me a new one) but half way to work I find out I also apparently got someone else's drink. New hires? Who knows. But someone needs more training. It's coffee. Not rocket science. read more

Well here I go again, reviewing yet another Starbucks? Can I really tell you anything new about this one? This location is located in Wayland Square on the east side of Providence (not to be confused with East Providence). Because of its location it's one of the busier areas around here. It's right across from other local coffee shops who unfortunately never get the business that Starbucks gets. I guess it's because of customer loyalty? They have their own parking lot but it's always full so you'll probably find yourself finding a parking space on the street somewhere. The people who work here are quick and courteous. I can't say the same for the customers in a hurry... Good amount of space outside and in for a quick get together or an impromptu meeting. read more

Staff is really good at making you feel uncomfortable and rushed. Besides that it's the usual crap. There's a really nice locally-owned cafe called L'Artisan maybe 50 yards away you can visit when you're tired of being a SBUX drone. They have outdoor seating, lots of food choices, and better coffee. read more

Very friendly workers here. The store itself is pretty open with lots of windows. It has its own parking lot which is convenient. Quality of coffee I'd say is average and on par with the rest of the other starbucks. I'll come back for more since they open early! read more

5 stars for Service On this specific occasion I was heading into this location on Christmas Day because the Verisimo system I bought for my lady was broken. Peter took the time to not only trouble shoot the system but to then replace it with a new model and give me a replacement pack of pods for the ones I wasted on the broken system. Starbucks coffee is consistent but their service isn't, Peter was an example of how service can and should be. Oh and that Verisimo? Huge hit with the lady. read more

Ok, Starbucks is Starbucks. But this one has some very friendly staff and a patio outside. Additionally, it is close to the dog park, so on cold fall/winter days, she gets to go to the park and then I get a treat for sitting outside with her. I prefer it to the one on Thayer because it has a parking lot, though the parking lot is ALWAYS a nightmare. Usually, you have to wait 5 mins for someone to come out to get their spot, or block the driveway that goes around the back while you run in and then deal with the pissed off motorists when you return. read more

Layout and seating are HUGE for me. Why I fancy this Starbucks so much is its open seating plan. The seating arrangement is fairly spaced out, typically allowing two-three people on each circle table. Giving enough room to study, read, chat and sip that cup of coffee in the mornin.' The private parking lot is a gem in this area, but don't count on getting a spot since they fill up pretty quickly. What makes it so cute and quaint is their lovely patio area. An outdoor seating area that allows you to unwind as you watch the people passing down Wayland Square. A simple townsy neighborhoody (yes, I do realize I'm all sorts of winning in the vocabulary department here) atmosphere that makes you second guess yourself: "Wait, what. This is a Starbucks??" The baristas are friendly and patient. The service was surprisingly quick yet unhurried. They got through the long line efficiently without making me feel rushed. *brownie points* read more

This place cannot make an iced green tea latte for the lives of them. I've never had chunkier green tea lattes in my life and no matter what they do it doesn't get better. I keep coming back thinking maybe it'll get better, or at least I'll get a barista that knows how to make it right but that's never the case. Everything else has been fine there so far, but since this is my favorite drink I'm not sold. Also got soy milk for an iced beverage poured from a steamer pot labeled "dairy" - shouldn't they be separated for those of us with dairy allergies? A latte' is crack to me. And I go here because this is the crack dealer that lives close by and, coincidentally, happens to be cousins with the guy I used to get my crack from. He's got the same stuff. It's just that this guys' house is all crowded with people and, despite that, I feel so lonely when I'm there. Sometimes I think it'd be worth it to drive to South Providence and find a new dealer on the streets. Problem is, I'm scared. So I stick with 'my guy' even though I know it's not the same. What I'm trying to say is that I love Starbucks latte's but the parking at this location sucks and the staff can be aloof. I will say this: they have the happiest manager/barista I have EVER seen anywhere!!! He's not always at the location but if he is, man, THAT is the guy you want making your drink!!!! Let's do a compliment sandwich, shall we? A positive, then a criticism, then a positive? :) First of all, I love the location. This Starbucks is in a super cute part of town, and the people who frequent this location tend to be the peaceful, studious type. The layout is fairly open, they have a fireplace, and FOUR comfy chair, which is awesome. Sadly (and here comes the criticism), I've rarely had good service here. I often am in the store for 15-20 minutes just to order and receive my coffee. That's just ridiculous, I'm sorry. No food service establishment would consider that to be acceptable. There is no sense of urgency with many of the cashiers and baristas...even when there are 15 people in line. That's not to say that every employee there behaves like this. They have a few employees who are exceptional...I wish I knew their names so I could give a shout out! read more

I'm sitting here at Starbucks, trying to finish some work, but I have to say that this is by far the best Starbucks in Rhode Island. The staff is incredibly friendly, and they have a Clover machine! I really am blown away by how sincerely kind and efficient the workers are here. The cashiers went through all the ingredients when I said I was lactose intolerant and helped me shift the balance on my Starbucks e-mail gift to a physical card. Wayland Square Starbucks is ALWAYS busy! The people though are fast friendly and always make my drink correctly. The place got a major renovation a few years back so it has a pretty cool design, although you might have to sit inside at a very large shared table with some people you don't know. A++ for large patio outside. It's great when the weather is not too hot. I like to grab an iced tea or iced coffee and sit out with my dog. read more

My husband and I love Starbucks coffee. We go to this location out of necessity because it has parking (as opposed to the better one on Thayer Street). Today, though was our last visit. The afternoon crew is OK -- slow, messes up orders unless you are on top of them, etc. But there is one woman on the morning crew -- who is the reason for the one star rating. On a good day she is grumpy. Today was a bad day, and we paid the price for switching our order seconds after we put it in. We had ordered one coffee as a "Tall" then changed it to a "Grande." She looked at my husband and snarled, "You have GOT to be kidding me." No, lady, we were not and we even stuck to the Starbucks sizing (do not EVER say "medium" to this woman). This is the closest Starbucks to my house. It's only a couple blocks and I tend to treat myself for walking to cvs or other shops in the square by getting an iced coffee for the walk home. Usually a venti iced coffee unsweetened with room. Then I add my own Splenda and skim milk. The people seem very friendly. I have had a conversation with a couple of them at this point. And their outdoor seating is a great perk. I like to play a game of chess with my boyfriend if we stop in on a lazy weekend morning. It's very relaxing. read more

I love Starbucks Coffee and love trying out different establishments. This one is a little disorganized and help is a little unresponsive and entertaining. I give it a 3 star because I like the coffee. Restroom is fair on its upkeep. Plenty of seating outside and a little cluttered inside. Clientele that frequents this Starbucks are a circus act waiting to happen and are rude at best. Nice college area and plenty of pot smokers sitting outside here ruining the coffee aroma that I like to experience. When I complained about the pot smokers to an employee, I was told pot was legal. I responded that cigarets are legal but you can't smoke them in public. Her response was, "Pot is different." So, I am being generous when I dish out a 3 Star at this Starbucks. read more

So we are starbucks drinkers and this time around when i picked up our couple of pounds for the week I said for a flat bottom press (which apparently isn't a thing) so they assume you mean pressed for expresso and ground it super super thin! So that doesnt work well for a regular coffee maker! So my hubby called and talked to the fabulously accomodating and helpful Tara! She said to go ahead and try it and if it didnt work to bring the bags in and she would replace them in the proper flat bottom ground (not press!). So we did and it didnt work so i went back and she was super friendly and helpful. I reallt like the set up at this location as well. The chairs are so comfy! read more

Not really sure why this Starbucks isn't more highly rated. It has a fireplace (a fireplace!), lots of tables, never too crowded, good lighting, and awesome friendly baristas who recognize regulars (I've never had my go-to drink - black iced tea with 10 pumps of classic - prepared improperly). There's outdoor seating for spring, summer time, and fall and it's situated in a great spot for people watching. If there's one thing that keeps me from giving it a 5 star rating it's that they never have my favorite pastries on hand when I go - that being said, I usually go after 8 pm so it makes sense that they don't re-stock after a certain time. At any rate, this is by far the best Starbucks I've been to in Providence and a fantastic place to read a book, study, or chat with friends. read more

Here at 5am on my way to capture the sunrise and I ordered a latte and croissant. Can someone tell me why the barista who made my latte didn't even look at me (it was busy at all... It was 5am) and why they didn't have the oven on and I had wait 15 minutes for my food to cook. I missed opportune pictures... Thanks guys. The Wayland Square Starbucks provides a pleasant respite from the hustle and bustle of the Thayer Street Starbucks. It is populated mostly by families and older intellectual types and has plenty of tables in a pleasant space with a high ceiling as well as outdoor seating that overlooks nearby businesses. The staff is efficient and the drinks are quite good even by Starbucks standards. I've yet to have a better caramel macchiato. Still, why go to Starbucks when The Edge is just around the corner? read more

This is a particularly excellent Starbucks for doing work. There are plenty of normal chairs and tables (I personally can't get work done at a stool or a couch, but they have those too), and even a big picnic table where you can spread out. Wait, who *doesn't* like this Sbux? The baristas are the friendliest I have ever encountered. They don't flinch at complicated orders and they make them well. They know the repeat customers and make small talk with new ones. On the days I work from home I come here for a change of scenery, and I end up staying for hours. Amazing service. read more

They have one of 50 Cover Coffee Machines in the country. If you don't know what it is, google it or go in and try. It's amazing. Lots of seating is great...but lack of parking isn't. This is the Starbucks for the stroller set. Better service than the disaster on Thayer, but I consistently get incorrect drink orders at this location. I am a weakling in my old age. I ordered 2 tall blonde roasts, one for me one for my com padre. They were SUPER hot and still kind of strong for a "lighter roast". I have had it at several other locations but this one was much stronger. Didn't like the interior of this Starbucks too much, very cold, very crowded, very snooty. If this Starbucks location were likened to a motor home it would be a Cadillac double wide. So gynormous and welcoming it is, says Yoda. It doesn't hurt that it's right next to my apartment and en route to work. It also serves all the tasty, healthy breakfast wraps and sandwiches. Plus, all I really have to say is: Clover.
