I stopped in to pick up a piece of pumpkin bread to take home and sit and relax with a cup of hot coffee and read and destress from a particularly frustrating day. I get home, sit down and pull out my pumpkin bread only to find out it's really banana walnut bread. Being allergic to nuts, I had to pass. Frustrated, I called the store hoping to at least get a credit for the bread but they would only do that if I drove back to the store. I just wanted to relax, my whole purpose in getting the bread. I just threw it out and was out the money. Small problem in the scope of things but I just didn't need that. Please pay more attention to the orders you are filling. read more

Quick pit stop since I was in the area to grab of all things a sparkling water and was a little disappointed to see that they no longer carry Pellegrino or Perrier. All good though, the substitute did the job just as well. It was also still lime flavored so I cant complain. The barista was quick in ringing me up. The scanner is awkwardly placed on the register and after I had contorted my arm to no avail he picked it up and scanned to for me so I could straighten my wrist back out, lol. The store was really clean and has plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. One bonus feature of this location is if you are seated by the window and the glare becomes too much, they have shades that you can pull down to block out the lovely sun when she shines so bright. I also like the high top tables they have, nice touch, especially for those of us that are vertically challenged. Nice easily accessible location with plenty of parking too! read more

Irish Cream is amazebananas, I mean it, drink with an extra ripe banana or 3-4. I had a bunch of extra ripe bananas and this drink made me devour them down, 3 out of 4 of them (so far!). I don't know what the employees' problem is at this store. We've come here 4 weeks in a row and the temperature inside is always beyond freezing. It is mid-October and they are BLASTING air conditioning. My son is dressed for winter (coming from ice skating lessons, thick waterproof fleece lined pants and a fleece hoodie) and is shivering. I asked the employees about it and they said they will always keep it this cold for their comfort, even if it's crazy cold for the customers. This is not just the typical cold you'd feel at like a medical office or on an airplane - it is unreasonable, everyone shivering, everyone commenting on it. Pretty standard starbucks. It's usually pretty busy because there are a bunch of corporate buildings around it. I ordered the medicine Ball or honey lemon citrus tea and it was made really well. This was my first time at Plaza America Starbucks and my last. I placed an order online and didn't see where I could change my pickup Ike for lunch so I placed the order and decided I'd call to change the pick up time. I called EIGHT times, yes EIGHT times and it rang rang rang and then would get disconnected after ringing so much! So i had to have my food sitting out for an hour after I ordered because they can't answer their phones. When I arrived o pickup my food I asked the young man if it was the right number and he said yes I told him I called 8 times and no one answered and all he said was "yeah we're busy" not "I'm sorry" or anything. There was one other customer inside when I arrived. Even if you are so busy, maybe you should hire more staff so your guests are able to be happy. Very disappointed and will not be back. read more

I don't like to complain but I've never been to a Starbucks in my life where the barista (Ronan) refused to add cream and sugar to my iced coffee from behind the bar and instead told me to do it myself. I thought that was odd since I'm paying for the coffee and usually baristas ask "would you like cream or sugar?" It just made me kind of annoyed. This place is great.... It is located in a shopping center, but has a small parking lot at the side of it. It's easy to stop in and park. As most Starbucks, the coffee, however the service is great. They are quick (even in the mornings), and they actually get your orders right. I have been to multiple other locations were I never feel like they get my order right or they don't remember who ordered something. I have never felt that way here. I always try their seasonal drinks, and they are really tasty. Get the Starbucks app and pay with this so can get rewards and coupons. In the area one of the better locations, even though they tend to get busy in the am rush. Plenty of strip mall parking in the am also make it a nice option for those in a hurry. I have switched to using the mobile app for most of my orders, as it is supposed to work more efficiently for those in a hurry. I placed an order for an Americano and a coffee cake on my last visit. Americano was ready within the promised time, but the cake took an extra 3 min. Not sure why a cake that requires nothing except taking it out of a box and dropping it into a paper sleeve would take longer than making a drink. Also on mobile orders, there seems to be no consistency when you ask for certain prep. For example I like a splash of 2% in my Americano and there are times you can't even tell they put any milk in in the cup. Other times, seems there is at least 2 oz of milk. read more

Wonderful people and service. While I have had a improper drink or long wait here and there, on the whole this is a great Starbucks. It could only be made better if they got some clover machines:) Context------ I always read existing reviews before posting my own experiences. I do this to see if there are any trends and if I can debunk or substantiate them. However, when you get to places like Starbucks, the reviews become extremely petty. For example, while your name being misspelled is unfortunate, you are not being inconvenienced nor is the beverage going to be altered. You might have a poor experience but if you have an uncommon name, sometimes you have to suck it up. Second, Starbucks has some of the best customer service going. If they mess up your order, either get your drink remade or take it as it is and then contact customer service. If you're smart and have the app then you'll either be refunded or get some sort of star reward - a fair compensation to be sure. At the end of the day, it's at once unfair that people rate this Starbucks lower because they misspell a name (one star because of a spelling error? Come on get over it) or get a drink wrong during their busiest hours. If you want a more curated experience, find a specialty coffee company and be prepared to pay more. read more

I only go to Starbucks about once a year. Last time I went was last Halloween for the Zombie Brains drink. Tonight I took my boyfriend and I there for some drinks and some tasty baked goods. I had to ask the guy at the register how to use the app for points and he helped me with that and then he made me a fresh pot of decaf coffee. I thought is was so nice of him to be so helpful. It's really the only option in Plaza America for a latte or espresso (although if you want just "regular" coffee and want to skip the lines, give Vie di France a shot) The staff does a good job of keeping the line moving. One of the busier Starbucks locations in the Herndon/Reston area, but when you compare it to the dismal Reston Town Center location, this 'Bucks copy is well-deserving of the 4-star rating (my multiple Starbucks reviews are bounced off of one another in the grading scale for me). There is a ton of parking, and it's far-removed from the pure chaos of the Whole Foods customer parking situation across the shopping center. Pop into this side of Plaza America, and you've got a bank, an Ann Taylor LOFT, and Starbucks, so parking is a bit more serene. While this location edges toward perpetually-busy, the layout of the cafe allows for good line control, and the staff is seemingly more efficient at moving the line along than at many other Starbucks. Rest assured that your latte/Frap/half-caf soy 2-pump extra-hot macchiato will be up shortly. Did you know that a yawn is a silent scream for coffee? Nice outdoor seating perfect for a sunny day, and a fairly adequate amount of indoor seating. Free Starbucks/Google internet reliable and fast enough at this location from my experiences there. This is the worst Starbucks I've ever been to. My order is always wrong and they don't do refunds so I can't get my money back to go to another location. The staff have also been short and rude. They did not get the order for a salted caramel cream cold brew TWICE. The first time they made it, it looks like they did not use the cold brew on tap but instead looked like a mixed latte. I've ordered this drink at other locations and they made it correct with the black cold brew coffee on the bottom with a layer of the cold foam on top. We went back to get the drink corrected and they tried to be nice by giving up a larger drink size but still did not know how to make the drink. My boyfriends order was also wrong and has been several times before. They forget to add the flavor shots you request etc. Avoid this location. read more

This Starbucks is spacious, has wi-fi, and plenty of parking in the lot adjacent to it. The manager is very attentive, and keeps this running as a tight ship, that serves customers well. Service here might be hit or miss. When you pay 5.25 for a large coffee but its only 3/4 full, it makes for some really unhappy customers. I brought this to the barista's attention and she unapologetically said it was because of the froth and then added more milk instead of more coffee to top it off! wow! I know you guys are busy but this wasnt really acceptable. I didnt want to complain so I just took it and left but the coffee wound up tasting weaker and not as good as the same drink from other Sbux locations. read more
