I decided on Blue Magic and Purple Rain. Despite being brightly colored, they have no artificial colors. They were both incredible and perfect for my road trip on a warm day. Sure, let me take the trek and give them a try. Was very early, so there was a group of 6 people all waiting on people to show up. Slightly awkward coming in with everyone bright and attentive. I ask about lattes and they tell me their flavors. I opted for their hazelnut latte and a drip coffee to go which I would pick up later when I was going to leave. Asked if they did food, they did and referred to the menu which was turned off. They fixed that quickly and I opted for their sausage egg and cheese. Also got a holy donut which they got from Maine. Wasn't sure how it would be fresh, but was intrigued. Drip coffee, latte, and food were all delivered at the same time. Chalked it up to nerves, grabbed my bites and took a seat. The space is large, a couple of couches but mostly chairs. Coffee bar was in the far corner by the door, had sugars but no milks. Also no station to drop off dishes. Assume someone would have to bus tables in that setup. The hazelnut latte didn't have strong notes of either hazelnut or coffee. I mostly got milk, which is correct for a latte but was hoping that the coffee would shine a bit more. That plus the hazelnut flavor was house made so I assumed that it was just very light in flavor. The drip coffee was very hot and a little weak. Got some fruity notes on the front, but no coffee mid and finish was watery. Fine if you drink your coffee with lots of milk and sugar, but those are not as needed since there's not a lot of bitter to counteract. The donut is a baked donut, dense and was a little cold due to it being so early and then just coming out of the fridge. Good lemon flavor, but it's a donut that screams for coffee to lighten up the density. The sandwich was not bad, but not great. The bun, cheese, and aoli were very good quality and treated well. They toasted the bun, melted the cheese to a gooey consistency, and the aoli was rich and had a little spice zip to it. The egg and sausage were pre-packaged, a little too small for the bun size, and the sausage was very dense and rubbery. I informed the head barista of the coffee issues. they agreed to look into it, but didn't action anything right away. I hope they will tweak the coffee issues, and they are brand new so there's still those first day jitters to work out. Brand are from a west Hartford roaster, and they do medium and dark roasts. As a brand new place, it's got some tweaking to do. The foundation is good, but the location is right on the cusp of the rural part of the state. They will need to dial in their offerings and get their name out there quickly to get the locals on board. Signage will be key, and social media will need to be out in full force. They can be great, and they got a good staff with the knowledge. It's a little rough around the edges currently.

Outside is decorated well, and with it close to the lake and the park its got lots of alternative seating options around. Inside is a little sparse on seating and decoration. It's very much a brand new location just getting itself set up. It's got a little of the macabre themes but it's light and open. So it's basic but has a little character. The got a house blend with a snickers latte. No coffee cups just to-go. Took my pics and began the trek home. The coffee was very hot when I got it. They brew their drip coffee in large brewing stands so it's a very hot brewing method. Lose a lot of the subtle flavor notes that way, but as it cooled down I was able to get the bright and mid notes. It's a strong roasted flavor mid with a little of the bright fruity notes on top. With better temp control, would probably get more of the fruit notes. Good coffee, just limited by the technique. The snickers latte was surprisingly pleasant. It had a decent amount of sugar but the roasted peanut flavor combined with the roasted coffee flavor notes really played well against each other. It really helped cut through the caramel sweetness and led to a nice sweet dessert like sip. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable, the lead brewer was happy to talk about their beans and process. They were busy though, so couldn't get all the details. But they know their beans and their roast. Price is actually kinda low for the quality. Not upset about that, but I suspect that they may raise prices as time goes on to match other coffee shops. They do make their own bakery items but the selection is limited. The cookie I had was a solid oatmeal raisin but wasn't unique or different. Just a well executed oatmeal raisin. As a coffee shop, it's still figuring itself out. Once it gets its character and refines its brew then it stands to be a strong coffee shop for the area. For now, it's great but basic.

At the drive up, they shove the scanning "gun" in your face to scan your app before you've even come to a complete stop. It feels hostile and aggressive. I guess they are afraid people are going to grab their drink and drive away without paying? This afternoon I ordered ahead asking that they put the drink in my personal cup, and I arrived in the store within thirty seconds and they had already put it in the regular plastic cup. Fortunately, there's so many more pleasant Starbucks locations to visit within a short distance, I see no reason to frequent this location in the future.

The latte was rich and a good quality coffee, so the drink went down very smooth. The maraschino cherries on top were a nice touch too. I love coffee, drinking it hot or cold, and what I had here is in my all-time Top Five Percent. It was that good. I had a sip of my wife's Chai Latte and thought it was excellent as well. What really impressed me were the flavors of both drinks- not overpowering, but strong enough to appreciate them. The Coffee Guy has it all - specialty coffees, matcha, chai, espresso drinks, and pastries and sweet treats to pair with your coffee cup. We couldn't resist grabbing a few on our way out, and we took home a box with a Spinach croissant, iced blueberry scone, and a cruffin (croissant/muffin hybrid).
