Great place. The office was closed but there was a member of staff to greet us upon arrival and show us to our site. The campground was very clean and in very good shape!!! The sites were level and paved! The next morning as I walking our dog a member of staff gave him a treat after asking if it was ok. The staff was very personable and helpful. It is easy to see why this campground won the Presidents Award in 2017!!! Keep doing what your doing! We had a fabulous stay and a great experience at your campground!

Such a fun time last night at Camp Chowenwaw!…read more We stayed in one of the treehouses, number 5 to be specific. There was so much wildlife to be heard throughout the night including owls, woodpeckers, and what we think were crickets or maybe lubbers. The bathrooms and shower areas were very clean for a park/camping area. There are different trails to explore along the path to the treehouses, which we didn't have a chance to do. We suggest bringing a sheet or blanket to cover your mattresses. Each treehouse has 2 twin sized bunk beds (total of 4 mattresses). They are VERY uncomfortable, so if you need extra support, you should probably bring a mattress topper/padding. The grills were pretty clean, just need some dusting off before cooking, though, nothing out of the ordinary. Upkeep for everything was great!

Ever slept in a tree house cabin? If you are interested in camping, picnicking, kayaking,…read morecanoeing, swimming, fishing, bird watching, wildlife viewing, outdoor photography, and hiking--Camp Chowenwaw Park is the place to go! Their trail systems through the uplands and the wetlands offer scenic tracts for the hiking enthusiast. Camping facilities include 15 tent sites, two lodges with bunk beds sleeping 16 people per cabin, 9 tree house cabins, each accommodating 4 people, and 7 cabins with bunk beds sleeping 4 - 8 people. Each campsite has a bathhouse with full restroom accommodations and a unit house with electricity including a stove and refrigerator. Located throughout the park and at each campsite are picnic tables and grills for use by campers and park visitors. Just note: Vehicle access is limited & all camping sites and cabins are accessed by walking trails. The park is ideally suited as a natural outdoor environmental education facility when you consider the setting, location, and proximity of diverse upland and wetland ecosystems. Classes and naturalist programs for organized groups and the public will be available in outdoor and indoor classrooms. This is one magical place off the beaten path where you can still interact with wildlife, get a little exercise, enjoy nature, explore the unknown, cool off in the water and at the end of the day, sleep in a tree and still be close to home! How can you not love that?!!

Best area summer camp!…read more Camp Crystal, run by the Alachua County School Board, gives Alachua County kids the opportunity to attend a semi local sleep away camp. Area parents will love the shortness of the sessions (Sunday- Friday for one week campers, or Sunday- the following Friday for two week campers.), the short drive there (30-55 minutes depending where you live in Gainesville), and the lower cost (under $600 a child.) Kids will love the beautiful grounds, fun atmosphere, and the awesome classes (kayaking, paddle boarding, water sports, wake boarding, art, frisbee, newspaper, soccer, lacrosse, yoga, and so much more!) Because it is such a desirable summer camp, registration is not easy. Those who have attended a session can continue attending that session without much effort (with just a commitment and later payment) vs others (first time registrants or those looking to change sessions) who must be online at a precise moment and move quickly to try and snag the few available spots. Registering for the first time can be a stressful hassle, but it's absolutely worth it! Once your kids have attended this camp, you 100% understand why everyone is so desperate to have their kids attend. My daughter just completed her fifth year, while my son just completed his second year. Both absolutely loved it! My husband and I enjoyed the short week of no kids life, but loved being able to see and hear how they are doing through the Camp Minder email system, and the photos published nightly. Camp Crystal is truly the perfect taste of sleep away camp for us lucky enough to live in Alachua County!

What a nice group of people! We weren't planning to stay in Lake City.... just passing thru !!…read more But when RV problems popped up and we were directed to Rush Truck Service for repairs. Luckily, Casey Jones RV Park was just down the street. I called late Monday afternoon, spoke to Rose, who was so friendly and accommodating. Explained the RV repair situation and that we didn't know if our stay was going to be 1,2 or 3 nights. She said.."no problem". I asked for 2 nights, not knowing what the future held. They were very flexible & accommodating. Day 3.... AM..... . yeaaaa, RV was fixed. I gave my many "thank you's" and said goodbye. We were checking out !! Well, we got about 4 miles down the road.... engine alerts came back on and we turned the Coach around and headed back to repair shop. I called back to Casey Jones RV and asked for a 3rd night. Again, they said "no problem... and said that they even saved my same spot for us". . Almost like they knew we'd be back !! Now on Day 4.... RV fixed and we got on our way to continue our trip. Besides being very close to the Truck Service Center....... This park is nice, quiet and easy in & out for our 43 ft Coach. Reasonable overnight prices as well. YES..... I would stay here again & recommend to others.
