This is a nice office, I let too much time pass, I know "an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure" Is pretty much a fact, yet I let time get away, I'm trying to squeeze a year of benifits in what's left of December, they have been very accommodating. This office is very thorough, I feel I'm in good hands whether with Dr. Olga or Dr. Rodriguez, they provide excellent care, I believe it's Stephanie who runs the front desk, also a very pleasant and efficient person, I hope I have her name right. Dr. Rodriguez is the best dentist I've ever had. I feel like a friend is also my dentist. Everyone who works here is kind, non judgmental and great at what they do. Since I started coming here 3 years ago I've only had positive experiences and look forward to coming here every six months for my cleanings. What's more is they always do their best to accommodate me, have availability for early morning and Saturday appointments (since I often can't miss work!), and if I'm annoying and tell Dr. R I have to be outta there quick he does his best to support that. As soon as you walk into the office you feel like you've stepped back into the 70's! The interior decoration is groovy and the music is far out. The paper work is a drag but easy to fill out. Just a few pages. Once I met the doctor I knew I was in good hands. Dr. Rodríguez was gentle with his exam. He walked me through every step of what he was doing so I was never confused or scared. His assessment was spot on. His assistant David was amazing, professional, and very funny. He made me forget that I was at the dentist. Overall, I left his office with a smile on. The highlight of my visit here was my cleaning with Olga. She spent 30 minutes carefully cleaning my teeth and I had zero bleeding and zero pain. Afterwards, they looked super clean and polished. Olga was gentle, kind and she asked me questions, answered my questions, and listened to me. Also, the location of the office was convenient and the parking was easy and free. The part of my visit that I did not like was the extensive amount of x-rays they wanted to take of my teeth. I get it that some people who have dental issues might need extensive x-rays of their teeth, but my teeth have never had any issues, only two tiny fillings done 30 years ago, no cavities in 30 years, no gum issues, no pain, no issues. My last dentist (Dr. Trudgeon) retired, but in my last exam he said, "Your teeth are beautiful and you don't have any issues." So with Dr. Rodriguez, I just wanted a good teeth cleaning and basic x-rays, if anything. But once they started x-rays, I could not believe the amount of shots they wanted to take. Each x-ray included 3 teeth and the roots. I finally told Olga that I didn't want any more x-rays so they didn't get a complete set. Dr. Rodriguez said that the reason they do so many is to have a baseline so that if I get an abscess or a tooth infection in the future, they can go back to this baseline to see if there were any issues prior. I read in a recent NY Times article that dental x-rays should only be taken if there is a good reason - like if there are issues. If I had known that they were wanting to do an extensive set, I would have declined. The NY Times article said that saying, "These x-rays are very low dose radiation" is also not a good reason to do extensive x-rays - it is better not to subject yourself to 20+ dental x-rays if there isn't a good reason to do so. OK, and the second thing that I didn't like was that Dr. Rodriguez right away told me that I had one 'sticky' upper back molar. He said that on a scale of 1 to 10, it was only at a level 1 for concern, but that he recommended going ahead and filling it. I nicely told him that I would go and get a second opinion on the tooth, and he was very nice about that (he didn't get offended or defensive). The American Dental Association guidelines recommend the following for dental x rays for an adult new patient: "Individualized radiographic exam consisting of posterior bitewings with panoramic exam or posterior bitewings and selected periapical images. A full mouth intraoral radiographic exam is preferred when the patient has clinical evidence of generalized oral disease or a history of extensive dental treatment." With zero issues, zero history of dental treatment, no oral disease past or present, only two tiny fillings in my mouth, no pain, no previous issues, not a lot of plaque (according to Olga), I do not need a full set of periapical images or full mouth intraoral radio graphic exam. Also, nobody even looked into my mouth before starting all the x rays. X rays were the first thing they did - so no evaluation done to determine if I even needed a full set of x rays. And even after the exam (beautiful, healthy teeth, no issues), Dr Rodriguez still tried to convince me to spend another 10 minutes to finish up the rest of the x rays. So a total of 25 minutes (maybe more) of dental x rays for a healthy person with no issues? It's not a matter of money for me because we have Delta PPO insurance, but of doing or treating more than necessary. My appointment time was 10am and I didn't leave the office until noon. Too long. But the cleaning was awesome, thank you Olga. read more

Ariel is simply the best. He won't settle for anything but perfection. He is ever thorough in his work and genuine in his approach. I first came to Starland Dentistry for a second opinion, when my previous dentist wanted to charge in excess of $400 for a deep-cleaning. Ariel said the procedure was overkill, and his staff was able to address the issue with a standard cleaning. Since then, I've always trusted Starland Dentistry's staff for their honesty and work ethic (important things since most people know nothing about dentistry). Ariel consistently takes the time to explain what he is doing and why it matters - in ways that an average person can understand. It's not just, "brush your teeth!" With his newfangled technology, Ariel shows blown up photos and describes the various relationship between teeth, gum and bone - and how comprehensive hygiene techniques can promote longer life and greater patient comfort. Further, he makes comfort a priority - checking in with me if I wiggle in the chair during a routine cleaning or check up. I really hate dental work, so much so I would rather be run over by a car than go to the dentist! But one day I was have excruciating pain in my jaw and right molar. I have no regular dentist so I turned to Yelp and found Dr. Rodriguez. The reviews were solid and truth is I was a tad desperate being in pain. I could not have been luckier with my choice!! Dr. Ariel Rodriguez immediately identified the problem and suggested a specialist, Dr. Safa at Paaadena Endodontix as a root canal was needed. The referral to Dr. Safa was spot on and that experience was solid. Then I needed to return to Dr Rodriguez for the crown. I have to say he and his staff are exceptional, because I was cranky (I'll blame the pain!). They were so patient and explained everything thoroughly and accurately and now, no more pain and I have a wonderful dentist I promise to visit yearly. He always answered every question I had no matter how small it was and always explained to me what he was doing. They make you feel like more than just a patient. I haven't been to the dentist in years. Dr. Rodriguez was amazing at getting me back into the swing if things. He was very explanatory and informative in regards to my questions and concerns. He spent time with me, made it enjoyable and fun. After my first visit I told Dr.Rodriguez that "I found my dentist". Few visits later, I'm still very happy with my choice. Friendly staff, unique retro style interior and an excellent dentist. Dr.Rodriguez explains everything in fine details and how he will do it. He is very gentile and careful. He did an excellent job fixing a filling that he thought it would cause an issue in future, and also fixed my previous dentist's implant that was causing me so much pain and bleeding for the past 1.5 year in only 10min. WOW... Just WOW! I have had a lot of dental work, regular cleanings, braces, teeth pulled, root canals when I got my teeth knocked out, crowns, veneers... i've had it all, and I've never had such an enjoyable experience at a dentists office. The ENTIRE team is incredible. Everyone was sweet and all the dental techs were a pleasure and unbelievably accommodating, making sure you're at ease and explaining everything as they were doing it. Ariel was so informative and really went above and beyond to make sure he knew about my dental history and took the time to walk me through my x-rays, literally tooth by tooth in some instances, explaining what everything was and what needed to be done. They discussed payment options and insurance and took the time to make the call to my insurance company even though we were both pretty sure i didn't have coverage. My fiancé has not been to a dentist in about 4 years between no longer being able to use her parents and getting new insurance through her school. She was a bit nervous and expected a plethora of work that would need to be done. We both left the office amazed, feeling like we were in good hands, with our next appointments already set up and some how the stigma of going to the dentist has seemed to disappear. On top of all that, as if it couldn't get any better, my fiancé and I are huge fans of mid century design and Arial, being a fan himself, has done and incredible job decorating the waiting room and offices. He's patient and thorough and extremely gentle for those (like me) who are squeamish about the dentist and needles and dentists wielding needles. His staff is polite, helpful and fun! They clearly love working there. I'm always able to get in for an appointment within a reasonable time and their office hours are very amenable to a working schedule. Oh my goooodness! I love this man ! I went to see him after I had a brand new veneer fall out twice from a previous dentist. I now have a new grill and won't scare small children when I smile at them! Truthfully, this dentist and his staff are "as good as it gets!" I went to Dr. Rodriguez because a friend recommended him and his staff to me. It's a slight drive since I live in downtown Los Angeles, but it's definitely worth it. Not only is Dr. Rodriguez professional, genuine, and positive, he also truly cares about his patients. I recently visited Dr. Ariel Rodriguez and staff last week on a referral from a close friend, and I wish I had asked for his referral sooner. What a great experience I had with Dr. Rodriguez and his five star staff. My first impression was his laid back and cozy mid century modern waiting room and office decor, (not to mention an awesome Pandora station). His assistants at the front desk, Aida and Lauren, were genuinely friendly and willing to help when needed. This has been by far the best dental experience! The staff is friendly and courteous. Dr. Rodriguez is amazing. He made sure that I was comfortable at all times. I had a few cavities that needed to be filled over multiple appointments and each time Dr. Rodriguez and staff made sure I had a pain free experience. This review is overdue, but I am here to echo just how wonderful it is to be a patient at Dr. Rodriguez's office. I always had an issue with going to the dentist; I always felt too busy, too scared, or too concerned about costs. I needed some extensive work, including a crown put in. Dr. Rodriguez executed each procedure perfectly and patiently explained each step involved. While I needed a lot of work, it was an empowering experience to be Dr. Rodriguez's patient because he really does go out of his way to help you feel comfortable, track the progress of procedures, and clarify any information. He and his team are also incredibly competent and kind. During my several visits at the office, Dr. Rodriguez and the staff always extended a sincere and kind word to me. I also like that the office sends email and text notifications to confirm appointments. I highly recommend Starland Dentistry, so much so that even though I am moving a few hours away, I am still thinking I will make the trip for my appointments. read more

It's nice to see all 5-star ratings of this establishment on Yelp because it really deserves no less. I've been seeing Dr. Rodriguez and staff for over about 2 years now and have finally gotten around to writing this review... To begin with, the office itself is beautiful - it's very modern-looking, clean and welcoming and the staff are so kind and really make you feel at home. He also has a great taste in music, which may not seem very significant in the big picture, but it's nice to not walk in and suddenly feel like you're in the 80's... haha. After my first exam at Starland, he suggested I get a couple fillings replaced right off the bat because the dental work hadn't been done very well by my old dentist out of state. Dr. Rodriguez pointed out some of the critical flaws (how the shape of the teeth had been malformed during one filling and how that was causing problems, how there was a bubble of air underneath another one, etc). He did sincerely hesitate on working on my back teeth when I mentioned I'd had repeated work done to them, because it would increase sensitivity, but I insisted on it being corrected anyway. I have no regrets because while he was right about a little sensitivity it gradually faded and is no longer causing any problems. My father likes to say Dr. Rodriguez is an artist and I agree. It's the greatest feeling knowing you can trust someone not only do an outstanding job but also to tell you exactly what you need and not take advantage of you financially... which brings me to another experience: my Invisaligns! I've recently finished a year of Invisalign braces at Starland Dentistry and now am in the stage of refinements. Dr. Rodriguez has been incredibly helpful, patient and reassuring with me during the entire process and I feel like the price was more than reasonable for the amount of time and energy he puts into it. He really cares about making the final look absolutely perfect and places a lot of care on the details instead of making you feel like an inconvenience. Also, I'm a full-time student currently and there was an unfortunate lapse in insurance that placed a lot of stress on me financially. Dr. Rodriguez was kind enough to work with my situation instead of making me pay on-the-spot for the services I really needed (like x-rays for my refinements and a cleaning before I get the new attachments put on) because I could in no way afford that bill all at once. It's these things that really show you the kind of professional you're working with and keeps you coming back. This kind of character can be truly hard to come by (believe me) and shouldn't be taken for granted. I couldn't be more pleased with my experiences here. read more

Dr. Ariel Rodriguez is my dentist and my husband's dentist. He is an excellent dentist when it comes to the technical aspect of dentistry. He has the necessary experience to do the kind of job I want done. I had fallen and chipped my front tooth. Naturally I was concerned that the work done to fix the tooth would look as natural as possible, so that it would not be possible to detect any difference between the repaired tooth and my other front tooth that had not been damaged. The work Dr. Rodriguez did on the damaged tooth is virtually undetectable from the undamaged tooth. If I didn't know myself which tooth had been chipped, I wouldn't be able to tell. I love Dr. Rodriguez and his staff! They are all attentive to my specific need and situation, and they address them with genuine care. He will be my dentist for life. read more
