I have worked closely with Sam from Starlight Rental and she has been an immense help through our lease term there and through the early termination process (unfortunately had to move closer to work - leading to early termination). Any and all requests for fixes or checks were done in a timely matter and always was followed through to make sure things were taken care of. Very difficult/unprofessional experience with Bella. She was non-responsive to multiple texts and phone calls after meeting in person at the property and initiating the application process which required $40/adult to initiate. Her excuse for not responding to calls or texts over several days was that she did not have Wifi. Her lack of communication continued until I reached out again one week later and she then informed me that the property was no longer available. I have worked with several agents/brokers (as many of us have) and she either is new to this industry, incompetent, or completely apathetic. Unfortunately, this was a complete waste of time, money, and effort for my family. It was also impossible to find anyone else to contact at Starlight Rental throughout the process. Hopefully, this was a one-off situation, and I hope someone can retrain Bella on effective communication and professionalism. read more

Starlight acted as the broker and lease management agent for the property. This company provided a lease that modified a standard CA lease to disable the renter to have any recourse for holding the property manager or owner liable for any repairs. To add salt to the wound the renter had to repair and clean the house. Essentially the renter takes over a house and the owner and Starlight are there to collect the rent payment. There are other options in the market that are fair, use those. read more

My family and I were tenants in a rental property managed by Yu and the Starlight team. From the very beginning of our experience, Yu delivered a highly responsive and professional experience. The home was in excellent condition when we moved in. Like with any property, issues will arise from time to time. As they did, Yu was always prompt and fair in his response. I inquired about a unit and set up an appoint to view the condo. It was about 10 other people there to see it. After wards, I contacted Yu about doing an application because I liked it. He then proceeds to tell me that they decided to raise the rent $100 than what it was listed at when we all went to see it. I'm assuming due to interest. This just shows me they could care less about the tenants and more about how much money they can swindle from people. read more

We recently had a problem with our gas oven that would not turn off. this was a major safety issue and Ai Yu was really helpful in fixing the problem by replacing the whole oven range with a brand new one in a very short time. The most important thing in these types of emergency and safety situations is the speedy communication between all parties and Ai Yu was very efficient in this matter by solving the problem asap to the satisfaction of everyone. In selecting a property manager to help us with our rental property, I reviewed over a dozen San Diego property mgt firms and called up a handful to hear them speak at length at how their services are great, internet based, cost effective....... blah, blah, blah. However, Ai Yu of Starlight Prop Management was the only one who spent significant time going over strategy and procedures for best preparing and listing my property for tenant visits. He spent no time in touting how great he or his company was, just how his formula/philosophy for property mgt was developed over years and hundreds of clients. In short, Ai Yu is NOT some internet based company located hundreds of miles away, but rather a San Diego firm that knows the pulse of the various rental markets and has a large local database of contractors and service providers. He delivered spectacularly and I'd recommend everyone at least give him a call to compare to other prop management firms. A well deserved five stars. read more

Dogshit property management company. I rented from them for 2 years and in those two years they raised our rent twice yet refused to fix anything in the apartment. 2 years and they mowed our complex once. It took them 6 months to respond to my maintenance request and that was answered only after I refused to pay rent until they came and fixed the sink. Instead of cleaning the mold from under the sink they just painted over it. Hands down dogshit company read more

We recently rented a condo from this property management and Yu did a great job. He was very helpful throughout the whole process and did make our move-in process easy and smooth during this pandemic period. The unit itself is not in gold plated condition but Yu has access to every kind of repair person needed and he does response with a quick turnover, even during the holiday seasons and it's always easy to communicate with him, He did also took a throughout inspection before we moved in and noted all the existing condition before we moved in - All repairs needed were made/completed within a week and the maintenance people have been nothing short of professional or polite.
