I probably have the world's most difficult eyebrows. My left side inexplicably does not grow hair above my arch and I have thinner eyebrows naturally. I came here because my despite growing out my eyebrows, it hasn't gone well and I needed them to be shaped and semi-decent looking when they're not filled in. Enter Starr Beauty! Fellow Yelper Lina. V recommended them to me and she has the world's most fantastic eyebrows (watch out Cara Delevigne!) so I decided to take her advice and come here. Herjeet did a wonderful job on my eyebrows. She managed to somehow make them look even and not thread them into oblivion while doing so. This place also boasts a good supply of hair, make-up, nails and skincare so it's tempting to go in there and not buy the entire store. Good luck fellow Yelpers! I was looking for a good place to do my eyebrows since I moved to Northridge for college and I was very glad I found Starr and that i loved it from the first time I walked in. First of all their eyebrow threading is great, their prices are very cheap, they are very helpful and nice, and aside from doing eyebrows they sell all kinds of make up nail polish, hair products etc. I am very selective on where I do my eyebrows because I have been to several places that even though they have cheap prices they mess up your eyebrows. This place on the other hand was great I told the lady I did not want them to thin and sure enough my eyebrows came out looking great. The lady is very helpful and if you are undecided about how exactly you want them shaped she starts off by removing a little bit of hair and shapes them as she goes until you like how they end up. I have recommended a few of my friends and my roommates and they all love it, it has become our favorite place. One thing is particular that i loved was that the lady did them so well my eyebrows took longer to grow out so that was a really big deal to me. The second thing I loved about this place was the amount of make up they sell. Not only do they do great eyebrows but they sell all kinds of make up and honestly what girl doesn't love make up? I usually buy my make from places like CVS, MAC, or Sephora where they have all the different brands you see advertised on television and when I went in the first time I bought all kinds of make up such as foundation, mascara, eye liners, lip sticks and none where from any particular brand i had heard of before but one of the ladies who works there recommended them to me so I decided to buy them. I can honestly say it was was a great investment, although at the time i did not need them i bought them and tried hem out and they were great. It is so much cheaper the colors and varieties are great and a lot of things are natural which is even better for your skin. One weekend when i went back home I showed my mom what i had bought and sure enough she loved them too and i went back in to buy a lot of other new things. My absolute favorite thing i love buying from there are the Lipsticks that Matte, they are amazing! They have all kinds of colors and honestly almost every time I stop by I buy a new color. Their nail polish too they have brand nail polishes and all kinds of colors and shades you wont even believe it. So yes this place is amazing but obviously not everything is amazing. The number one thing I hate is waiting and at this place you literally wait about an hour to get your eyebrows done because you best believe they are so good they always have a line. Yes you can call to make appointments but they are not always all that good with keeping track of appointment times. Especially if they have a lot of people they sort of make you wait even though you called to make an appointment. The second thing i disliked even though it only happened to me once was that, the first time I went I did my eyebrows and I looked around ended up buying about $250 worth of products and I had asked if they took debit and they said yes so i was very confident buying things and when the time came to pay they said sorry we're not taking cards right now so my closest option was to go to the Bank of America ATM next door and take out money. Now that isnt exactly what bothered me it was the fact that since i do not have a Bank of America debit card i had to pay the extra 3 dollars to withdrawal when Chase is right across the street and I could have just gone to get money there in the first place and tipped them those $3 instead. So now every time I walk in I make sure they are taking debit or i try to carry cash with me just in case, but overall I have been very satisfied with my visits and all the things iv purchased here, i definitely recommend this place to everyone! read more

They have a huge supply of Nyx products, which made me a happy girl because Nyx is one of my favorite inexpensive makeup brands! There is also a big selection of eyelashes in the back, and they go from as low as 99 cents! The woman who opened the store was almost 30 minutes late and I was waiting since their weekday opening time (9:30), but it's all good because she was really nice and helpful. They also have tons of other makeup and nail products. Just a heads up, this review is focusing primarily on their eyebrow threading. When I first came here, I knew nothing about eyebrows and to hear that this place would thread your eyebrows for $5? That was a steal for me. I always came here and never thought that eyebrows could be done differently or even better. I would walk in and they would have me sit down and within 3 minutes, I was done. But what I failed to realize was the lack of conversation they held, the lack of transparency on how you want your eyebrows to look. It felt like they just wanted to finish their job without putting in too much care. I was looking for a good place to get my eyebrows done since i moved to Northridge for school. I was very worried and i was debating whether i should try some place new since I've been going to the one in my hometown for 2 years now. So i decided to try this place out. When i first walked in i was shocked because it's not just an eyebrow threading place, it's also a cosmetic store and they also do acrylic nails. I was greeted very well and asked to sign in and take a seat since there were a few people ahead of me. The wait wasn't long at all, it was really quick. Then it was my turn ,i sat down, she asked how my day was and she started. Usually when i get my eyebrows threaded its really painful, but for some reason this time it didn't hurt at all. When she was done i was more than satisfied with her work, they were very clean and she shaped them really good, and it was only $5! Once i was ready to go i couldn't help but to go shopping for some new make up and nail polishes, which they had a variety to choose from. They had absolutely everything! They had hair/skin, make up, waxing, organic, nails, and eyelash sections. when i got to the cashier to pay, the young lady was very friendly and social. This store is a hidden gem. I walked in and was greeted by I believe the manager, she then showed me the products they had on sale in the front of the store. The store overall is very organized and properly labeled. I would say 95% of the products can be sampled. They have a huge variety from inexpensive to somewhat expensive brands such as Morphie, La Girl, NYX and more. There is also a wall full of lashes and they have a HUGE selection from super crazy I mean rainbow and glittery to soft and simple. No more driving to LA, prices are close enough! I'm currently in Cali and the only other person I let touch my eyebrows is in Texas. I was very hesitant about getting my brows threaded at another place and by another person - especially for $5. I am pleased to say that my eyebrows look GREAT and they're not as red as they usually are! The girl who threaded my brows really took her time and made the 12 hairs I have on each eyebrow look like a luscious forest. She noticed the weird gap in my right brow and instead of leaving it be, she shaped my brows to conceal the gap as best as possible. The check out system they have is quick and easy. I had a few extra minutes to explore the store while my aunt got her eyebrows threaded. They had makeup products and tools from a variety of brands - NYX, L.A. Girl, Morphe, Anastasia Beverly Hills, and more. I couldn't tell you if the prices were cheaper/more expensive than the actual retail pricd, but they seemed reasonable. I started coming here some months ago now after my eyebrow lady moved too far for me. I was hesitant being that I've only been able to find one girl thats been able to thread my brows exactly how I like them. I figured I'd give this place a shot after seeing how good my friends eyebrows looked, and worst case scenario I'll loose out on $5. To my surprise I was totally impressed! Itasha is amazing :) I wanted to grow them out and have thicker brows and she was able to help me achieve that even after being told in the past that it wasn't possible. If I could give negative stars I would totally do a negative 5. I came to this store for the first time yesterday and I purchased a trio kit of the NYX lip creams. When I got home, I opened the box and one of them had this weird oil spilling out of it, which i didn't care because out of the three colors this was the one I liked the least. I open another one and not only does it look used but it was really clumpy and sticky. I own a lot of these and none have ever looked this way. I thought it was no big deal and returned to the store immediately the following day (today). To my surprise there was nothing they could do about it because it was open. I don't understand what other way I was supposed to see they were dry. The girl at the register then called the store manager, who then called the owner; who said no to the exchange. Why would you call the owner if you were confident that nothing was wrong (didn't make sense at all). They should be forced to provide information on how long products are sitting out there. These lip creams come individually wrapped, which i didn't notice at the time, but none of these were wrapped. Needless to say, i have two dry lippies to add to my collection! In addition the girls there don't really know their products. My sister asked a few questions and in all occasions she was just pointed to look in certain areas, never was she given any information to help decide. If you need makeup, just go to Sephora they have so much to choose from and the artists there are knowledgeable. read more

Wonderful place to get your eyebrows done! Plus they have a huge variety of beauty products and you just can't help it but buy them! I've been searching for a good eyebrow place for a while now because the place I used to go to messed up my eyebrows so bad I literally had to grow them out. I must admit when I first went in I was a bit iffy about the place since it only costs $5.00 to do your eyebrows, but I was definitely satisfied by the results. The best part is the fact that it is really close to CSUN. I got my eyebrows done by Harjit and my sister got her's done by Asha ( Ithinj that was her name) and we were both happy with the results. She made them just the way I wanted and they show you the mirror once they have cleaned out your eyebrows before they start shaping them out. The one and maybe only thing I disliked about this place was the fact that they have a $10.00 minimum if you are using your card, otherwise you are charged and additional 0.35 which isn't necessarily a bad price either for getting eyebrows done, but I would of appreciated a sign of some sort stating this fact. Overall I was completely satisfied with the service ( although the the wait is pretty long and they do not go according to who signed in first) just remember your place in line and who came before and after you. I definitely recommend this place. Just remember you can't get 5 star service with an extremely low price and great quality eyebrows. read more

I go here for the strip lashes, Morphe products, and to get my eyebrows done. Strip lashes are my favorite, you can buy them in a bundle or individually. They sell most of Morphe's products, but not all. They have most of the brushes, some eyeshadow palettes, and other Morphe products. I like it cause it definitely saves me a trip from driving to Burbank. Overall it's a good place to buy make up. They also sell hair products and nail polishes like OPI. For $5 eyebrows, I think this place is the best. Ask for Poonam or Jyoti. I have the weirdest eyebrows, and it's rare for someone to know how to thread them properly. So fortunately, I'm very satisfied with this place, they do a good job! I definitely prefer this place over any place at the mall. read more

I go here every two weeks to get my eyebrows threaded, which only costs $5. Ask for Itasha! She always does a great job, she's quick, and I've only had good experiences with her. I've been going to her exclusively for years. There's sometimes a small wait, but I'm typically in and out of there within ten minutes. If there is a wait, you sign your name on the clipboard and you can either have a seat or walk around and shop for makeup and other beauty products until they call your name. They also have a ton of makeup products, including name brands, and is inexpensive. There's plenty of parking and in a great center with lots of different food options in case you want to grab a bite to eat as you're running your beauty errands. read more

Eyebrow threading: Had my brows done with Ashra I think? She was the one closest to the register. There's a sign in sheet to the left by the entrance if it's busy. -Saw her use hand sanitizer before doing my eyebrows :) -Did one brow and gave me the mirror to check & see if I liked it without me asking :) -Went back & did the part she accidentally missed because my finger was covering it. Oopsie :) -Friendly & professional :) Store: It's evil. I just want to buy everything & it doesn't help they give you a discount on beauty products when you check in on yelp. Must........resist...... It looks like a very nice store. The lady did my eyebrow threading very fast. She pinched my skin too hard. I still had to do some clean up when I got home. She rushed it very fast. I was out in 10 minutes. They took me right away though as a walk in. I just wished she would of used aloe gel or something to cool my eyebrows from the redness after it. I've been to places down the street that are more thorough with their threading. But I guess the price is the only plus. read more

I was just walking by when I spotted this place. Very good experience. They have so many products, I just want to buy everything. The prices are pretty descent, they have a huge selection of nail polishes, and so many other various beauty products. Now, I have never gotten my eye brows threaded. But, I decided to risk it and try it out, especially for the $5 price. The experience was great! I loved the shape and the great lines. It did hurt a little, but more towards the ends, in the middle it didn't hurt at all, its probably the extra skin of my fat face. Lol I would still try it again in the future. I went in to do my eyebrows and the lady who took care of me did a really good job and was quick to get me into the chair and did a thorough job. Then I was looking around the store for a long while without any help. Then this tiny Asian girl came to help me and even though she wasn't knowledgeable about ALL the products I don't blame her and she was honest about it and didn't just try to fib through it to sell me a bunch of products I wouldn't need. She gave her complete knowledge about the products she did know about and did her best to help me with what I was looking for. I ended up getting a few products that she referred and so far they're working great. The only bad thing I really have to say about the store was the girl who ringed me up ignored me and was a little bit rude. But even then she made sure I got my discount through the yelp app for checking in so I'm sure that was the exception and not the rule. read more

Although this is a beauty shop, I always come here to get my eyebrows done. For $5, you could have the nicest brows! However, if you have concerns about how you want your eyebrows to be, you have to specifically tell them what to do. Sometimes, there could be couple of people ahead of you, waiting to get their eyebrows or whatever they want to be done. While waiting, you could look around and you'll be surprised on how much make up they have. They don't have the luxury brands, like MAC but they have decent brands. They also have good skin products, a lot of them are from Korea which are good. I normally buy hair products and their $1 collagen masks. Parking is not a problem here. You might not want to come here during late afternoon because it becomes crowded with CSUN students. read more
