Second of all, it is in LA- the heart of it (but not fully the "heart") and I had no idea the Coliseum, LAFC stadium and USC are all Nextdoor!! Which, so awesome but wow be prepared for parking, people and events. And woweee did we have "events" happen during our visit....thanks to the museum's super safe safety protocols, we got sheltered in place for hours. I mean HOURS due to populations outside that were unpredictable, which unfortunately is pretty pervasive in LA. Surprisingly? The PA system or announcement method in the museum was not great. My friend and I had to really strain and get under a speaker to even hear we were locked in. That is concerning. What wasn't concerning however, was the response. We mentioned to a museum worker how we had been there since opening and were concerned. He immediately ushered us into a the members/donors spot that had snacks and refreshments, and a spot to collect ourselves. Everyone seemed calm and the whole operation was finally clearly communicated and all was well. The museums response after was admirable as they situated our tickets and charges for special exhibits after the chaos of the day. The customer service is very impressive. Please visit! Just remember: LA Okay thanks bye!

I also appreciate that they offer discounts for veterans, which is a wonderful benefit. Parking is $20, and we've always found it convenient. We enjoy coming here almost once a month. One of my favorite things to do is bring a picnic and relax outside in the beautiful open area in front of the museum. Sometimes we'll even take a walk over to the Rose Garden afterward, which makes for a perfect day out. Whether you're visiting with children or just looking for a great museum experience, I highly recommend the Natural History Museum. It's a place we never get tired of visiting!

There is street parking on the adjacent streets. Before I begin to gush about how much I love this experience, I think its important to note that this is not an escape room. There are puzzle elements but it is first and foremost a story. And that story is fucking good! I had done the Lab Rat escape room the previous year and it is still the best escape room I have ever done. I wanted to see what else Hatch Escapes offered and the Nest sounded great, so I went with that. My wife and I showed up on a cool Sunday morning and we're unsure of what to expect. We were lead to the 5th floor of the building and down a row of storage units. We were handed a flashlight, a tape deck, and then were guided into one. What would ensue for the next 2 hours was a beautiful story of promise, romance, dreams, heartbreak, and the memories of a world that might have existed. I was honestly not ready for this. I am not a crier in the slightest and found myself tearing up as I progressed through the rooms. The final room took all my will to not just break down bawling. When we walked back out into the sun, I felt a renewed sense of appreciation for the people in my life. If you're on the fence about going, just do it. You will have a great time and a moving experience.

The Nest says online that 2 to 4 can sign up at once, but honestly after going through it, I felt two of us was perfect, as noted in another review, some spaces are tight and you do have to duck under some areas. I don't want to give any secrets away or spoil anything, because you want to arrive and immerse yourself in the experience. Let's just say I didn't understand the other reviews about that it can make you feel emotional, until halfway through, something got me in the feels, and then at the very end, just when you think it's over, one more thing got all my emotions hit (in a good way) and I didn't want to leave. It was so special. The Nest is similar to an escape room as you are still solving some puzzles, but it's without pressure and everything builds upon itself as you go. I definitely recommend The Nest. I know it's strange but, I almost want to go back and do it again alone, just to absorb it in all over again.

Yes I know parking can be an issue but that's an easy fix if you come early and make a day trip out of it. And yeah some people make that complaint of homeless and the streets are dirty but you know what, it's OG and that's what's up because it keeps on thriving. And I say this. I drive on her streets cause she's my companion, I walk her streets cause she knows who I am. It's the city I use to live in, the City of Angels, we were once lonely and together now we never cry. No judgment here like some other cities in deep orange and no worrying about labels and what you look like. That's how it should be, a place where you can be you and not looked down upon. Mix that up with amazing food and a fire nightlife and you have yourself this very special place. I'm not writing this because I grew up here I'm just stating the facts! It resides in the central east side of town with amazing eateries, siperies, bars, taverns and even music venues like the iconic Wiltern theater off Wilshire/Vermont. You can access public transit via LA Metro, LADOT DASH and it's very own D/Purple Line and B/Red line - though the Purple Line is being extended and serviced the early half of the summer. Driving is still fairly easy, though traffic is extra real during the day and early evening. Loads of scooters, bikes and of course ride share in the area. One of my favorite places to eat is still Monty's Good Burger on Western Avenue between 5th and 6th. Which is also next to Franks and Hanks dive bar and The Artist Tree, both places I support. Discover a ton of karaoke popular spots off 8th like Rosen Karaoke or karaoke w/ cocktails, video games, vendors, patio fun and dancing at the speakeasy Break Room 86, located on the side of The LINE LA hotel off Ardmore Avenue/Wilshire Blvd just across from the Wilshire/Normandie Metro Station. Do K-BBQ at Baekjeong, now on 8th and a local favorite of my favorite k-town human Sarah S. Take in historical buildings, admire the new huge apartment buildings, support small grocers and markets. Get the big essentials at your local Jon's, Ralphs, Vons and of course H Mart. Good bars, fun shopping, magical eats, city scenery the glam and the gritty. Reading at your local Pio Pico Koreatown Branch Library is fundamental as well as at local mom & pop bookshops and stores like SeJong or Happy Bookstore, both on Western Diversity, culture, art, in a foodie and walkable slice of flavor where local meets tourist in this melting pot inspired and thriving with Korean and Asian Culture. It's not the most cost affordable area with so many lavish buildings popping up monthly if not weekly, but it's still KTown at its core. There's nearly two doesn't schools including the Southwestern Law School and the Wilshire Private School (formerly Wilshire Elementary among other names). Festivals and gathering throughout the year especially for major holidays like Korean New Year and Chinese New Year both also often referred to as Lunar New Year in many parts of the world. What is LA if not a city blended of all kinds of people learning, growing and thriving as best they can. Koreatown is without a doubt a huge part of that.

It's a HUGE PITY that KCCLA doesn't welcome back its community of Korean-learners. We used to share meals with the teachers and the office workers and the classmates would chat and network before lessons while sharing a meal.
