I was really disappointed because I love oysters and was surprised that they didn't add more to the sandwich. It was served with a nice spicy mayonnaise and homemade fries. Maybe they were running out of oysters, which they should have just taken it off the menu. Either way I'd rather have a traditional Po-boy loaded with oysters and less of the greens and tomatoes. The server was polite and courteous, but never offered to refill our drinks. I understand that this is not fast food, but a dinner nearing two hours seems excessive. The food is very nice, but overall, and I don't mind paying $36 for a salmon and $10 for an arnold palmer, but when I do, I really want the entire experience to be cohesive. I think all of it is fixable, possibly a staffing issue where kitchen cannot keep up, and possibly a similar challenge for the wait staff?

The secret, beyond fresh veggies, olive oil and wine vinegar, is that the meats and cheese are freshly cut for each sandwich - not pre sliced which allows the surface area to dry out and get nasty. Fresh is best. They've been my (and lots of others) go-to when passing through Monticello for decades. The only similar sandwich I've come across is Jersey Mike's - also fresh sliced provisions.
