Recently visited this shop for the first time. 2 story shop. Does have an elevator for people with disabilities. Fun shop for Harry Potter fans. Cute merchandise and large selection of wands. Fun place for lots of photo ops. Does have a food counter to purchase Harry Potter themed food and drink items.
We visited Harry Potter New York and really enjoyed the experience. Located near the Flatiron Building, this is the largest Harry Potter store in the world and is packed with movie props, themed displays, exclusive merchandise, and interactive experiences inspired by the Wizarding World. Even if you're not planning to buy anything, the store itself feels like an attraction and is worth exploring for Harry Potter fans. There are themed rooms, collectible wands, house merchandise, apparel, sweets, and plenty of photo opportunities. You can also enjoy experiences such as personalized wands and interactive features available throughout the shop. One useful tip is to visit earlier in the day or on weekdays if possible, as the store can become very busy with tourists and fans.
If you're a Harry Potter fan, I would definitely recommend this place. The store had a downstairs level and was bigger than I thought. It had great theming and had some cool photos spots. I loved how they sell butterbeer here, because I thought I would only be able to try it at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. Even though the butterbeer was expensive, it comes in a nice souvenir cup. It was pretty sweet but enjoyable. They had a cup cleaning station as well which was nice.
This place was so cool! The art displays, the butterbeer shop, the staff and merch. As a die hard Harry potter fan I can't imagine going to New York without visiting!
There are tons of unique Harry Potter merch. Some things were expensive as expected, but not everything. There's 2 floors animatronics, life size statues, photo opportunities, butter beer, wand walls, and more. If you're a Harry Potter fan it's a can't miss stop. The theme music playing while you shop. If you're going to see the cursed child play they give you a discount. There's also a survey posted around the store for you to take and receive a free gift at the gift shop! If you get the GoCity Pass you can get a free butter beer! This was a really fun experience! I'll be back for sure!

All Harry Potter fans needs to put this on their list of must-sees when visiting NYC. Two levels of everything and anything HP related. You got clothing, accessories like house colored ties, socks and hair bows, wands, housewares, books, toys etc. There's also a small section for New York exclusives like t-shirts, mugs and socks. Design is black and gold with the words Harry Potter New York on it. I got a pair of socks for $8.00....not bad. For those who live near a Universal Studios, you will see some items here that they also sell in the theme parks. There's also a small cafe area for your pastries and drinks. My friend got a mini sized "happee birthdae harry" pink cake + pumpkin juice. I had a sip of the pumpkin juice and it tasted like thick consistency apple juice. It's not bad but it's not something I would personally order. When it comes to the food items, think novelty over quality. It's good for the 'gram, ya know? There's one single bathroom is located on the second level. Be sure to check out the Dark Arts/green Slytherin room. Plenty of photo ops in this store.

Many fun themed rooms to explore across two levels. They even have a newspaper that you can use to go on a scavenger type hunt throughout the store with a prize if you complete it. Lots of merch for purchase if you are a die hard fan. Overall a fun experience!
If you have read the book or even watched the movies this store will captivate your inner child with Hogwarts inspired decorations, adorable products, wands for purchase and so much more! The butterbeer was a hit with our kids! Yes it's pricy, but it's butterbeer from Harry Potter Land; pony up and get some! Basically cream soda with butterscotch cold foam on top or there is a frozen slushy version. Both are amazing!
My bestie wanted to visit this place for "butterbeer". Never heard of it but she is a Harry Potter fan She enjoyed her drink along with the take home cup. She also got some pastries. Nice spot to sit and drink/eat We picked up some cool stuff including a nice big umbrella. Staff was friendly and gave my nice a treat for her birthday. I'll be back

We had to come to the store after seeing the Broadway play "Harry Potter and the Cursed Child ". Store was packed, only problem was trying to find help with buying merchandise. No one able to check if the size you're looking for wasn't on the floor. So they did lose a sale on a few items.

The store showcased numerous items such as authentic Hogwarts house clothing, collectible wands, and magical accessories. Although I had the opportunity to try the famous Butterbeer, I declined after a staff member informed me it tastes like butterscotch candy, which I do not enjoy. The shop also features an interactive, green-screen simulation that allows visitors to virtually "fly" over the London skyline and the Hogwarts castle, chase the elusive Golden Snitch during Quidditch matches, and ride alongside the whimsical Knight Bus. This immersive experience is complemented by a professional photo and video package, and often concludes with a visit to the Butterbeer Bar for a refreshing drink. Overall, visiting the Harry Potter Shop was a memorable experience. The staff were exceptionally friendly and knowledgeable, creating an inviting atmosphere. I definitely look forward to returning to explore more wonders of the magical world.

If you're a HP fan you're going to love this store. If you're not a HP fan you'll still have plenty to look at. So many wands, clothing, books, snacks, toys and endless accessories to look at and purchase. They have a cafe area where you can buy some butter beer or even get a sundae. I didn't buy anything but as a fan it was still a blast to walk around and look at everything. read more
The best store there ever was on the face of the Earth! My boys and I are huge Potterheads -- my husband humors us -- and we spent all afternoon exploring the Harry Potter store. Yes, it's a retail shop. Shopping is boring. Blah blah But this Harry Potter store was amazing! There are interactive installments like casting your own patronus, getting a picture in Hagrid's giant shoes, making a pretend call in a London phone booth (aka Minister of Magic entrance), watching Dumbledore's Gryffindor door swing around and getting a butterbeer from the cafe. We loved our visit and our purchases. Much better quality stuff than Amazon read more

Stopped by the Harry Potter Shop for some themed treats and to look at all the merch! Hot Butterbeer: $13.50 -- very sweet, probably more dessert than a drink Butterbeer Ice Cream: $9.50 -- also very sweet, but the texture was excellent Heads-up: the ice cream was unavailable for about 40 minutes after opening, so plan accordingly if that's your main goal. The shop winds around and has a downstairs area. There are a few interactive/photo ops (like life-sized Hagrid shoes). Pair the trip by taking the online sorting quiz, finding your Patronus, and choosing a wand! read more
I visited the Harry Potter New York and even as someone who isn't a Harry Potter fan at all, I have to say this place felt absolutely magical. The entire store is beautifully decorated and really brings the world from the movies and books to life. Every detail feels thoughtfully designed, and it makes the experience fun even if you're not super familiar with the series. We tried the Butterbeer and the Butterbeer ice cream--both were delicious! It was my first time trying them (I didn't even know Butterbeer was a thing before), but I'm really glad I did. Definitely worth it. A nice bonus is that when you order the Butterbeer, you get to keep the cup, which is a really fun touch. If you're a Harry Potter fan, you'll absolutely love this place--but even if you're not, it's still a really cool and memorable stop in NYC. read more
This was kind of a trek for us but it was worth it! The store is so much fun and well designed! It's in theme and makes you feel like you walked into a universal studios HP store, and then some! There is a large selection of wands, clothing, robes, house merch, plushies, books, candies, etc. there are also distinctly labeled sale items and they are a very good price!!!! There are bathrooms downstairs. A cafe/beverage area for Butterbeer on the main floor. There are also plenty of places to take photos! A fun shop to visit and buy merch - esp if you're going to see the Cursed Child! read more
I am not a Harry Potter fan but I am not a hater, either. Aside from the insane crowds, this two-story store has something for every HP fan who has an extensive line of credit. The prices are not for the faint of heart nor for the underaged or unemployed. Aside from the normal Potter paraphernalia, this store even sells mugs of "fresh" butterbeer, cookies, and other sweets. You can shop and begin your pre-diabetes journey simultaneously. There are also several photo opportunities throughout the store and you can even overpay for a "broom" riding experience on the lower level. The crowds here are maddening but the Potter fan in your life will love it. read more
You won't find a better Harry Potter shop outside of Universal Studios. It's pretty awesome. Very very large. Wands for every character, available personalized. Artifacts from the films, acceptance letters to hogwarts (Also can be personalllized,) tickets to the hogwarts express on track 9 3/4 (think can also be personalized) cloaks and full lines of clothing to each of the houses. Books, journals, candy, stuffed animals, jewelry, key chains. So many things. Plus if you get hungry there's a very cool little snack bar with butter beer stuff. A very fun store. read more

So many cool things to see...decor that makes you feel like you're in the movie, a life size cut out of Hagrid, a fireplace exploding with letters...so much to see. They offer a variety of merch for purchase including wands, books, plushies, stationary and more. I could never fully express how amazing it is. You must experience it for yourself. read more
It's a super fun and magical experience to visit this two level store. Take your time and visit each section at least twice - there is so much to see everywhere! I love all of the clothing and accessories dedicated to each Hogwarts house, and the assortment of stuffed creatures is also amazing! Be sure to check out all of the photo ops - Hagrid's shoes, the red phone booth, the rotating hippogriff at the top of the stairs, the fireplace full of letters downstairs, and more! Downstairs, there is a room full of items from the House of Minalina in London, and there is a new area where you purchase photos and videos of yourself riding on a broom with HP backgrounds. It's always busy here, but you no longer need to make a reservation, and although the checkout lines look long, they move along pretty quickly. Be sure to check out the butterbeer anc ice cream area as well and consider buying a sweet treat to finish your visit to this fun and magical store! read more

This was my first time visiting the shop. I sent all these pictures to my sons to see what they wanted. I spent almost $200 and found out that I could've gotten a discount if I would've scanned a QR code at the register to be on the mailing list. I wish the sales people would've let me know this. My friend is the one who shared this information with me. The café is very expensive. $10 -$11 for one cupcake!!! That's ridiculous. read more
Such a magical stop for any Harry Potter fan! From the moment you walk in, it feels like stepping right into Diagon Alley. There's so much to look at -- wands, robes, house merch, and all kinds of fun collectibles that make you feel like a kid again. Every corner is a photo op -- from the giant Fawkes the Phoenix to the Ministry of Magic phone booth and even the flying broom setup. Plan to take your time wandering; there's something to see (and snap) everywhere you turn! Don't miss the Butterbeer kiosk -- it's right inside the entrance on the left with a separate line, and totally worth it for the experience (and the creamy foam on top). Whether you're a lifelong fan or just curious, this place is pure wizarding fun -- 10/10 would apparate back again! read more

If your a Harry Potter fan you will love this store. The decor in the store is nice.They have the famous butter beer for $12.00. They have alot of cute items to purchase sweaters, pens, wands, cups, keychains, etc. I am not a fan of Harry Potter but for people that are fans this store they will enjoy. read more

Whimsical and so Harry like. If you are a Harry Potter fan, this is the place for you!!! They have a spot to take pics/video of you riding a nimble 2000 ! Green screen! They have all sort of Hogswart items you can purchase. A wand of course! Even robes from the different schools, a sorting hat, don't, an owl.... Several expensive brooms! The phoenix is there too. Books galore..... pins... jewelry.... read more
I must be a muggle, I had no idea that this shop even existed. But in finding out that it did, I had to visit. When the store opened four years ago, there were lines to get in. There are no longer lines to get in the store, but this definitely a cool store, and worth making a trek to see it. There are two levels, and the merchandise is well made. There's a section for wands, a bar serving butterbeer, a book section, and other sections devoted to locations/themes from the books/movies. You could spend quite a lot of time here, and the families that I saw here were having a great time. read more
I loved everything about this store. It's such a well-done experience from start to finish. The themed décor is immersive and thoughtfully designed, and the organization of the products makes it easy and fun to browse. There are so many whimsical treats like butterbeer and other themed snacks that really add to the magic. I visited with a younger family member, and they had the best time picking out wands, a tote, and a few other goodies. The selection is pretty extensive, so there's something for every kind of fan. The attention to detail in the décor alone is worth taking your time--you could easily spend a while just soaking it all in. I also appreciated the photo ops scattered throughout the store, which made the visit even more memorable. It gave me the same vibe as the Harry Potter areas at Universal theme parks. Bonus points for location. It's super close to the subway, which makes getting there and back really easy. Overall, a magical and fun experience I'd definitely recommend. read more

I absolutely love this store. It's so large and immersive! I make it a point to shop here every time I'm in New York! You can see the mini Mina Lima shop downstairs. There's also interactive VR games you can pay extra to do. The spiral staircase that leads down there is a treat! It's a replica of the entrance to Dumbledore's office. They have all the wands and house gear for purchase too. Truly, it's a potterhead's dream. read more
It was a big store. Plenty of picture taking opportunities. But to not have any pjs is absurd. There is quite a lot of mass production items though. So please stock up. The only thing Id go back and purchase is the butter beer. The serve it in 3 ways: Hot, cold and frozen. I personally LOVED the hot style. The staff was not helpful. They seemed lost and didn't know where items were. It seemed messy and the people at the register didn't know how to use the payment options on the keypads. read more
I absolutely enjoyed taking in all the details at the Harry Potter shop. Attention to detail is excellent. I would encourage you to taking time to pay attention to look for all the little things and big. There is so much to see here.. and of course plenty to buy. Pretty cool. Lots of wands for you to choose from if you are dressing up as Harry Potter theme. All the items are a bit over price. The look alike eagle staircase are very iconic. Tried the Butterbeer ice cream was pretty good $9.50 compare to the drink $13.50 for a small cup. The ice cream tastes pretty good too. read more
I recently visited the Harry Potter Shop in NYC and was thrilled to see that they had the soft serve Butterbeer ice cream! I had just tried it at Universal Orlando, and it instantly became my all-time favorite soft serve. Much to my delight, I don't have to hop on a plane to get it again, it's right here in the city. Along with the ice cream, I also picked up a Butterbeer muffin, which was absolutely delicious. Both snacks captured that magical Butterbeer flavor perfectly and really hit the spot. The only reason I'm giving this 4 stars instead of 5 is the price. As amazing as the treats are, they are definitely on the expensive side. That said, the taste is so good that I know I'll keep coming back whenever I need my Butterbeer fix without leaving NYC. read more
For fans of Harry Potter, the Fantastic Beasts and the Wizarding World, this store is where to find the fun and magic of that universe in the form of every type of merchandise imaginable. For the first few years after it opened, the line was up to a couple hours to get inside because of how crowded it was inside. At first it was a physical line, then they got more organized about it and security at the door would direct you to scan a QR code to get in a virtual line. After being open for several years, there generally isn't a line to get in now. It's also interesting to see the average age of people in the store has increased since (can you believe it?) the first book was published in 1997 and the first movie released in 2001. It's still pretty amazing to see since the series has impacted an entire generation and a half. The first floor has several dedicated sections: apparel and accessories, souvenir merch (like mugs, stuffed animals, flags, etc), toys, a wand shop, a small cafe area with butter beer, a griffin statue suspended in the center of a winding staircase, and the checkout area. The lower level has: Minalima--a cozy section with graphic art by the design studio that illustrated the first three books and created all the graphic props for the movies (Marauder's Map, the Hogwarts acceptance letters, the Quibbler, etc.), a stacked book "gate" design leading to the corner with all the hardcover books for sale, a section with apparel and stationery that can be personalized, the personalization shop where your name can be engraved into a want or embroidered into a garment/accessory, the "broom experience" where you can sit on a broom in front of a green screen and make a video of yourself flying across different landscapes (this is a paid experience and recommended to book a time online in advance). Aside from above there are various movie props scattered around the store in display cases, cool to see. Plenty of photo ops too. Well worth a quick stop if you're a fan and in the area! read more

Depending on the day you go you could get lucky, but it's street parking so you may have to drive around a bit until you get a spot.

No, if it's a backpack, shouldn't have any issues...it gets very crowded in there, but you should be ok.
Are Sunday's usually really crowded? I bought 1 VR ticket to guarantee entry around opening time but there are 2 of us. Will they let us both in? I understand only 1 of us can do the VR but would they let my friend in with me?

They're trying to limit the amount of people in the store at once, so they put out a QR code outside the store each day, a couple hrs before the store opens. You scan the QR code and enter a "virtual queue", and you can see how many guests are ahead…

Maybe go around 10am and the wait is about an hour. There's a cute place a few blocks over "Hole in the Wall" (really isn't) and they have outside dining.

How long have the wait times been?
We waited in the virtual line for about 7hrs on the opening weekend. Joined the virtual line at 9:30am and got inside the store close to 4:30pm.
