I've been a longtime customer of this restaurant. Today, I placed a delivery order via the website. Unfortunately, the order was never delivered. The restaurant told me, I needed to call the delivery service. (Note: I placed the order via restaurant website). I called the service and basically got the runaround when order was already 45 after the promised time. This was my last time ordering from the business as they contract delivery service. I do feel like a valued customer and I am still without food. Please do better State Street Grill. read more

Coffee Hot & Fresh Western Omelet with Hashbrowns, Rye Toast Delicious. Eggs Soft Taylor Ham Well, Fries White toast & gravy for the fries. Stopped by around 2:30, greeted with a big smile and welcome. We were sat instantly. Was served by Olivia, nice lady knew the menu and asked me about allergies when I placed my order. We had an omelette & chipolte chicken sandwich. Food was quick and tasty. Great service, great spot !!!! read more

Won't be returning to this place. It took them forever to send someone to take my order, then I saw someone walk in AFTER me & a server took that person's order before anyone took mine. Not only is it discriminatory but it's irresponsible. Once I was finally served my meal, I realized there weren't any utensils on the table, so I had to wait AGAIN for someone to bring me utensils. First visit and the food was okay. Sliders were okay but could've used some cheese. Or a side of sauce. Onions were tasty. Jack Daniel was delicious. The Tropicolada drink was good although missing pineapples and cherries. Visited this diner for late night Friday dinner with my bf. This was not my first time here and sometimes this diner can be a hit & miss on the food.. I ordered the mushroom panini with waffle fries and he ordered the turkey burger and hot wings . In his opinion the wings was magnificent but the turkey burger could have been more seasoned. My panini was average, and the mushrooms were surprisingly cooked well done how I like it ! OUTDOOR DINING REVIEW: My breakfast pal and I tried outdoor dining last Friday before the 4th. It's been a while since we've done breakfast there together, but we used to go all the time pre-stay-at-home days. Breakfast Menu recommendations: * Starvin' Marvin * Best of Both Worlds (my pal's go-to order) * Any of the Omelettes * Waffle (I'm more of the waffle fan, she is more of a pancake person) Breakfast Ordering Tip: You can substitute French Fries for the home fries that come with breakfast. Do it! The outdoor dining area that State Street has set up is nice. One benefit that the diner has is that it is not right on Bloomfield Ave; so you avoid cars whizzing by and all that. The outdoor area is has a white patio tent cover and black metal tables and chairs; it's located adjacent to the ramp in the diner parking lot, so it's very much sequestered away from heavy foot and car traffic. Also, when you do go inside to use the restroom facilities, State Street has clearly marked a walking route to take to get to the back of the diner where the bathrooms are. It's not confusing and awkward, and the one-way route maintains social distancing and unnecessary crossing paths with others (I know that sounds weird, but this whole time is weird and I know someone out there reading this may appreciate the tidbit about social distancing and safety precautions). This place was a miss for me. I was very surprised to see the many high reviews. I ordered the chicken philly wrap, It comes with grilled chicken, onions, peppers. It was so bland and tasteless. And the texture was just mushy. I actually sent it back. I ordered from their starter menu some potato skins. Which would indicate it would come as a starter before the rest of the meal. They brought it together along with the meal. Make that make sense. My husband ordered the baby back ribs which came with mashed potatoes, they were very bland. Definitely needed some doctoring up. TLDR, Horrible service, poor quality food, nice atmosphere. I am beyond disappointed that I have to update my review again. I truly believe that this place does not care anymore. We came here for dinner at 545 on a Sunday, and it was dead... Maybe 1/3 or les of the tables were filled. We walked in and were seated immediately. She actually left as she was talking. I tried calling her back but she was too far gone. It took about 10 minutes for 2 waters and an ice tea... 10 minutes... Crazy long time. She gave us our drinks and took our dinner order. Wife got the grilled cheese kids meal for our son. She got a chicken Caesar salad for an entrée. I ordered the salmon sliders for an appetizer, she immediately said let me go put those in. I spoke over her and said I would like to order an entrée as well. I got the ribeye steak medium rare with a baked potato and steamed broccoli. I also got a French Onion Soup. She had a cute remark about saying M/R was the only way to eat steak and I said of course! Wife asked to bring out the soup and the kids meal and my salmon sliders first. She said no problem. From that point on, a 20 top table came in, and we barely saw our waitress anymore... They brought out the 3 items. Kid started eating because he is 1 and was getting antsy... Wife liked the soup! Salmon sliders were meh. No flavor and overcooked... I added SnP and I squeezed some Lemon over it, and it was ok. A bus boy brought us our meal.. By the time that I checked my steak and saw that it was WELL DONE, he was gone as well... I tried flagging down anyone, but there was no staff to be seen. I wanted to wait longer, but my kid was almost done eating which meant we had to be done as well. I sadly had to eat it... Tons of salt later and drowning in A1, it was ok. The broccoli was not cooked enough. Baked potato was ok, but by the time that our waitress came and asked how everything was, my steak was gone and I asked for butter and sour cream for the potato, she apologized that I wasn't given it automatically. We also asked for refills on our drinks because they were empty for about a half hour by this point. Instead of getting our drinks, she proceeds to take 2 tables orders... She saw the empty cups on the table... Think a little... When she came back with the boxes and butter and sour cream, we asked her for the check. ********************************************************************************************************************************** *********************WARNING!!!!!!!****************************************************************************************************************************************************************** a 20% gratuity is automatically added to any check over $75 or groups of 5 or more... And you cannot adjust it! We planned on leaving a 10-15% tip because of how inattentive our waitress was, but we did not have a choice in the matter. 20% was automatically added to our bill. Our bill was $72, not $75. I went up to pay, and she said it automatically gets added to every bill no matter what and they cannot take it off. The cashier was very snobby and nasty about it. She even said that they put it in really fine print on the menu do people don't see it on purpose. I said I wanted to leave cash tip on the table, she said that I can on top of the gratuity... I heard my kid scream a little so I said forget about it and paid and left. This place is such a scam... Mediocre food, terrible service, and they scam you by forcing you to pay %20 gratuity no matter what. I know businesses are hurting, but screwing over your customers is not the way to do it... The group decided to go here around 10 PM to get a late dinner after a long day in the city. The dining room was clean, staff was friendly and the food was good! We had an AMAZING server named Nicole who offered to make us decaf iced tea which was awesome! She was very sweet and knowledgable about the menu and was an overall delight. I ordered the Louisiana Panini which was good and have a nice kick to it from the jalapeños! There portions were HUGE but really good. I also got it with sweet potato fries which did not disappoint at all! We did order ranch as we are all from the midwest and that was a little disappointing (but they definitely made up for it with their Honey Mustard!). Matthew got the Monte Cristo - which I had never heard of - but it was awesome! I believe it was French toast with Turkey, ham and cheese on it. The French Toast was so fluffy and full of the flavor and the rest just made it even better! I was told is usually comes with some sort of jam, but his did not. He also ordered garlic bread which was alright, but I would not go there to get garlic bread. I thought the food tasted great. They brought the food and drinks out promptly and cleaned up rather quickly too. This spot was okay. I got the Cuban sandwich (panini) the meat was good well. Wish they made it on Cuban bread. But the bread held up okay. Flavorful, seasoned well. The pickles they used took much away from it, but I always keep sandwiches sliced kosher pickles on deck and that salvaged it. The fries were average. read more

I visited the Diner 9/26/25 for late lunch. I was at this diner the previous night and had a nicd experience with the polite staff and our waitress. This time we were escourted to our table by passing the mens and ladies rest rooms to a window booth. We smelled a very musty, sewer type smell and moved to the State st window tables. The mens room is in need of an overhaul. The smell is bad and the sink faucets are loose and flop around. I have visited this diner 6 times before, twice with my wife. The food is generally prepared well. There is a lack of ownership interaction and supervision. Unlike most greek owned diners. The diner is located in a quaint spot although I am seriously thinking to locate a different eating restaurant. I am a building inspector and I think this diner has gone down hill from it's new beginning. I was also surprised to see it has less than 4 stars but now i can understand why. Serving food to the public is a serious business and should not be milked for profit alone. This is my inner feeling. Really! read more
