Have had several cars tires repaired and/or replaced here. They're quick, communicate well and prices are reasonable. Not quite as good as tire rack, but close enough - and zero hassle. I especially appreciate the excellent communications. They have no problem with older cars too (including a 1970 and 2004). Zero Covid or supply chain excuses. No surprises. Where there is upsell, it's generally good advice. Excellent value, reliable. Can't tell their politics, which I appreciated (I don't patronize places that do). Clean and easy to get in and out. I have no worries sending my wife or daughters here. Zero creepy factor. I wish they offered detailing. read more

As a customer of State Tire for the past two years I'm impressed with their overall level of customer service. I've purchased tires and have used them for minor repairs as well as routine oil changes. Here is an example: they forgot to fill up my window washer fluid on a recent oil change service and I called them out on the fact with a subsequent customer survey they sent me. Low and behold the owner calls me to apologize and confirm that he has talked to his staff to prevent a recurrence and informs me that my next oil change service is on him. Now anyone can make a mistake - but I submit that the way this was handled by the owner was first rate customer service, which is rare these days. Craig S., when your truck breaks down after having been serviced no more than 36 hours earlier, I think it's a reasonable assumption that the shop that worked on it missed something. Unfortunately, that's been my regular experience with your garage. I suspect your shop isn't looking at things very closely. Just as your shop replaced the starter only for the flywheel to tear apart, I suspect you replaced the actuator but missed the issue with the transfer case. The alternator and belt proved to be incidental; replacing them didn't resolve the noise I complained about. And it's not like your shop to do much digging. That's been unfortunate for me, as it's only after a complete break down, and a tow back to your shop, that the real issue becomes obvious. Or not... Your shop quoted me $4K+ for a new transmission when I needed a new transfer case. And what service! Your head tech Mike said he didn't even look at it, that one of 'the guys' did, and ONLY in the parking lot. Not on the lift? Well, in your telling the truck wouldn't move. Curiously, the shop that DID the repair was able to drive it, yet your shop couldn't even get it inside. Did you even try? When pushed on this you excuse your shop as 'NOT a transmission shop'. Then why confidently quote me $4K+ to do transmission work? I could have, and now have left a far more scathing review of your business. I tried to be even handed and present the facts, you on the other hand... It's unfortunate that I had to be twice stranded on the side of the road to to suspect that your shop does shoddy work. I dropped my car for tires and brakes. After 3 days without a call back or an estimate I went back to pick back up. No apology or explanation when I went back, the owner just returned keys with apology or comment whatsoever. Complete and utter disregard for a potential client. It was like I was bothering them. Since Matt has left this place has gone down hill. I was charged $170 for them to read a check engine code & I was told I needed new rear brakes. I had my brakes checked by two other reputable mechanics and they said they were perfectly fine. We've had several cars serviced here for many years & now that Matt has left, we will not be going back to this place. read more

We are visiting our Brother in Wall and experienced some issues with our RV. One of the problems involved our back tires. State Tire on 35 spent quite a bit of time and effort. They promised and over delivered customer service! We can't say enough good things about Matt, his work ethic and customer service dedication. Reference # 1316579 I purchased two NEW continental II tires at State Tire and Auto in Wall Township NJ in mid February 2013 for my 2004 Altima for $300 ($150 each with installation). By the first week in March (less than one month later) I noticed a bubble on the side wall on one of the new tires (not even 1,000 miles on it). I contacted State Tire and Auto who said they won't replace it and offer no warranty on it and said to call Dunlop (owned by Goodyear). I called Goodyear and they scheduled an inspection at Nutley Tire at 66 Washington Ave, Nutley, NJ and they told me Goodyear/Dunlop won't warranty there tires for bubbles. They offered me a new tire (same crappy Dunlop continental II) for $113 (prorated offer). Almost ANY product you buy has at least a one month warranty. Not this company. I refuse to buy any other products from this company. They sell you a bad product. Then if it fails they make MORE profit by trying to sell you their bad product again only slightly cheaper. Shame on them. I'm telling everyone I know not to buy their products. read more

I've had both my '08 Toyota Sequoia and '95 Land Cruiser serviced for a number of years including most recently a new set of Michelin LTX M/S2 tires on the Sequoia, where they beat everyone's price (including Tire Rack + local installation) by a little over $100. And they've always beaten the the pricing of our local Toyota dealer by at least 20%. Plus the shop is clean with a nice waiting area with coffee and a big TV. Most importantly, their mechanics seem to be top notch as I've never had an issue with any of their work. Matt, their front desk man and "director" of the shop, has always been extremely helpful, honest and always willing to work up a price, even over the phone, for whatever my next "project" is on the Cruiser even tho we both know it'll be months before I pull the trigger--in the latest case a full stainless cat-back exhaust system. I never hesitate to recommend State Tire to anyone who needs anything from an oil change and tune up to some bigger ticket procedure. read more

This place is a pure rip off. After I went on their website to get a price on two tires, I had them installed. The final bill that they wanted to charge me was about $50.00 more than what was quoted on their site. When I called him on the total, he stuttered a bit then charged me $8.00 more above the stated charge that was listed. I paid and left ... never to return. Apparently, there is possibly new management / ownership because I had gone there many times in the past (local business) and I remember an older man who ran the front desk for so many years. I've been going to State Tire for about 7 years. I've taken my car as well as my kids cars there. Spent a lot of money over that period of time. I liked and trusted Matt who always gave me priory care. I always thought he was knowledgeable. It goes a long way to have a contact at an establishment who you have rapport with and provides good service. Since Matt's departure I've been unimpressed and will never go back again! My son's truck a few days ago had gotten a flat tire. We took his truck to State Tire and they were able to repair the flat, which was good. The new manager proceeded to tell me his truck needed additional work that would cost $350 in parts and $455 in labor, which could be completed in an hour's time. The labor cost in an hour's time gave me reason to pause. I needed second opinion and got one from Toyota of Lakewood. After they inspected and reviewed his vehicle the verdict was they could not see anything nothing wrong with his truck / specific to what State Tire said was needed, which btw had been to State Tire within the last 4 months for 4 new tires. The kicker is my son's truck does need a new electrical system for his drivers side power windows & locks. The parts are about $60 and the labor is additional $150. Just picked up my Acura this morning and I couldn't be happier with the work that was performed. Matt was honest and informative from minute one. Went in for a smoking tire and Matt and staff ended up recommending appropriate work that needed to be done on my car to insure my safety. Technician took the time to go on a test drive to duplicate the issue and pinpoint what needed to be done to make sure there's no future problems. They are great I keep a spare car at our walk home Always service the car at Volvo But the hand brake went bad and the car could not be moved, the rear wheels were locked Called Volvo but didn't want to tow 60 miles So I called Matt at state tire he knew the problem immediately He towed the car to his facility and repaired it With genuine Volvo parts The invoice was hundreds less than Volvo would have changed I buy all our tires there and have them filled with nitrogen These people are serious about the work they do This is 5 star excellent workmanship and 5 star customer service It's nice to have such a great facility in out neighborhood Thanks fellas for the great work you do read more

Great customer service! We have a 2012 mini cooper that needed the battery replaced. You would think an easy task, well most auto shops did not carrier the battery we needed. After speaking with Matt for 10 minutes he was able to confirm they had the battery we needed in their warehouse and could have it at their shop within an hou. Matt lived up to everything he said, gave my boyfriend good advice about the car, did not try to upsell him, and told him to call if we had any issues. Checked the prices of tires at several tire shops in the area and online. Sts gave me the run around, said tire Cooper at2 was not available tried to sell me a more expensive model. Tire farm price too high. Firestone to high. STate Tire in wall checked my tires I told them what I wanted they quoted me a price better then anyone around also said there was factory rebate. They ordered my tires they were in the next day , dropped the truck off done, I was told alignment was good. Would go there again in a minute will recommend to my friends.. read more

Had to make an appointment which was fine.. Waited about 20-25 minutes. A week after an oil change here dash lights came on & after taking it to the dealer it was simply because the brake fluids were low & I needed a new oil filter.. Which tells me this place half asses the job & doesn't "top off fluids" or properly complete an oil change. I always pay for the upgrade, but I won't be returning here for the sheer sake of protecting my vehicle. read more

my wife was charged to replace shocks and struts that were only 13 months old. they changed the oil and rotated her tires. when I brought her car back because of new noises in the front end they replaced a tie rod and changed her oil again. something isn't right here. its not the same honest business that the Noorigians' owned and ran. read more

I highly recommend that you go to State Tire in Sea Girt NJ. Matt & his colleagues are really knowledgeable, professional, ethical, and helpful. They have always done a great job even telling me when I DON'T need to do things to my vehicle. Matt spends a lot of time on the phone with customers as well as being helpful/accommodating to me and all the other customers, who I have seen at State Tire. Several times, I saw customers come in and, after their cars were checked, were told that 'no, all they needed was a simple....nothing seriously wrong." Other places would probably have told these customers that they needed more when they didn't; which is what I've experienced in the past with several Honda dealership service centers. I have a Honda 2003; State Tire (2040 Highway 35, Sea Girt, NJ) has serviced my car ever since the original warranty end date - I have 126,000 miles right now.
