Bought a washer and dryer last summer from Staten Appliances and service was great. Had a problem with the dryer that was immediately dealt with. Last night, our washer appeared to be leaking and when I called the owner to schedule a repair, he was able to walk me through identifying the problem, via phone and knew exactly what was going on. He saved us a repair cost and helped educate me on how to deal with this, while not making additional money off my ignorance! Very cool and great business practice. Honesty and treating people fairly is certainly at the root of this long time business and explains why they'll likely still be helping people for many years to come. I have been buying from Harold Staten since I was 18 years old (I'm 48 now) when he and his brother operated a furniture store. I only buy from Harold Staten. He is honest, fair and will help you out in your particular need or situation. I will NEVER purchase a new appliance. Every washer, dryer, stove, dish waher and refrigerator I own comes from Staten's and have lasted me way past their due date. Shout out to Staten's Appliances in downtown Garland! While it's not the prettiest appliance shop, the prices for reconditioned units are amazing. We bought a reconditioned dryer for 1/5 of that a new one would cost, and it's the depth we needed. New units all have that bump-out in the back that pushes it out another 4-6 inches, and our laundry room isn't set up to handle units that are 27" or more deep! She's not a beauty queen but she's a hard worker, and they changed out the cord, the lint trap, and the door so it'd open the way we need it, all at no extra charge! I needed an icemaker (already had the part) installed in my Kenmore refrigerator. Sears wanted $86 just to come out and look at it and would not tell me how much more it would cost to do the actual installation. They saId the technician would tell me that when he arrived. I called Staten and they told me that a service call would be $45 and that if they arrived and could not help me they would not charge anything. Staten came out and installed the ice maker and it is working fine. Total charge was $70. Would definitely use them again. read more

We bought our washer & dryer from him and later when we needed a refrigerator, we went back & got it there. I even recommended Staten's to my friend and she bought a dryer from them.
