First time visit at Stater. I heard from friends that the market has good quality of meat and produce. I agree the produce variety and displays are better. Picked up several veggies and fruits. At the meat section, a butcher immediately greeted with a smile. He was helpful. I purchased two ribeye steaks and chuck roast. I remember that i needed a packet of ranch dressing seasoning and au jus for the chuck roast. I appeared to be lost looking for the aisle. Vince approached and greeted with a warm smile. He escorted me where to find them. He showed me several packets to help me. He introduced himself as the Produce Manager. I mentioned that i like his store and it was my first visit. Vince thanked me for visiting. He mentioned about the free grocery promotion and how to apply. He took the time to engage with me and offered further assistance for any special produce that he can order. Great job Vance for your Exceptional service! The lady cashier was also friendly. Karen thanked me for shopping. I mentioned about my interaction with Vince and she raved about his service to his customers. We enjoyed the chuck roast and steaks! They tasted better too. Had to come in to pick up some items for dinner and it was my first time and yeah that was a mistake. I saw that they had sun-dried tomatoes and the first jar I got was expired BY A YEAR. I looked at the Alfredo sauce and guess what? Also expired! By a month but still. I quickly grabbed the closest non-expired items I needed, paid and left cause. Ew. Okay, I'm a little confused. This whole shopping center has undergone a seriously impressive and much-needed makeover! Everything looks fresh and updated... except for Stater Bros. It's like they completely missed the memo. Now, the older, less polished look of Stater Bros. really sticks out against all the new and improved storefronts. It's a bit jarring, honestly. This is the 3rd bad experience @ the check out at this store. But this time it was the worst. Tried to make small talk with the cashier today and was met with a shrug. That is ok didn't need the conversation. I was putting in my payment info and realize the cashier was putting my groceries in bags when I had bags. My bags fasten to the cart and all the bagger needs to do is put the groceries in the cart. When I pointed out my bags, she ripped one of the bags out of my cart and torn it. Then threw the rest of my groceries in the torn bag. 3rd time is a charm. I need to go to another store. read more

This is medium sized neighborhood Stater Bros. I will say though, I've found things here that other grocery stores have been out of so that's a nice thing. Kenzie and Misty, always so rude to everyone. It's embarrassing and I don't know how it has continued for so long. I dread coming here...I live a couple streets over but most of the time I drive up to Yorba Linda to avoid everything about this store. Tonight, Kenzie just set it off for me. A shopper in front of me was trying to tell me her that she had her own bags, Kenzie was talking loudly to co workers around her, ignoring the customer per usual and when the lady proceeded to bag her own groceries with her own bags and at this point made it clear that she had said she would do it herself, Kenzie legitimately snarled at her. It was the strangest thing. She proceeded to talk to a coworker that was in line with a cart full of product maybe refilling the surrounding register and she said to him "oh god, I thought you were another customer" sounding super dreadful of it. Mind you, there are real customers in line at the time. They need better evening management, a class on human decency, or to have these two just not work there at all. read more

I have been a loyal shopper to this store since 1984 and it is sad to see that management does not care about their service/customers. Went to the store on Thursday, not busy at all for a 5pm, however, I went to the meat counter and there was just one person unloading the cart. No hello or acknowledgement as I waited for service. After 10 minutes of waiting, another meat person was walking around, sees me waiting, again no hello or acknowledgement. He then went behind the counter and proceeded to help a customer who just walked up and left me waiting. I spoke up and finally received service. The manager paid no attention and could care less. I wrote a response to the Corporate Response line and no response. Apparently, Stater Bros doesn't need the business if this is how they treat customers. So beware shopping here. Between Ralphs and Albertsons all within a mile, I will recommend and encourage shoppers to shop there for better service. read more

For about 2 years now there has been NO ground beef in the meat cooler at 8AM when I am usually there. Today, 4 April 22 I decided to complain to the manager, Doyle. Only problem was, Doyle who was paged to come to the check stand by the cashier couldn't be bothered. I waited 5 minutes then left. I called corporate and got nothing. Oh, they said they would have him call me. I told them not to bother. I didn't feel like getting a ration of crap out of him. Just to be clear, I always ask the meat cutter when they are going to have the ground beef ready. All I get is "I don't know". Although this market is right around the corner from me, I think maybe it's time to go somewhere else. read more

03-21-2024 @10:50 am I'd been buying here at least 3 times every week for more than 15 years. Just experienced today of an extra charged item. This was done by Misty, a cashier this morning. Misty is not a new staff, she's been in stater brother for quite a while like Brenda. Misty did it intentionally and truly aware of it. Stater Brother Manager please check that out. Really glad they finally upgraded this store. My only complaint is training the person who bags the groceries better. I come home with smashed chips, and bread. I arrange my cold food and room temp items on the belt so it's easier to bag. When I give a cold bag to put my frozen and cold items in, they will put the cheezits in there and my frozen stuff in a regular bag. read more

I wish I had a better option for grocery stores to go to. The meat department is outstanding here. But the rest of the Store is not. Often times the meat that is prepackaged, has a significant portion of fat that is covered. More often than not they have promotions, by three and get the fourth free or something of that nature. There are fine print descriptions below the price that are hard to read. And often times result in telling the person at the cash register what's going on, only to be made to feel stupid for not realizing it prior. read more

OK, so you'll get fair prices here - just like all Stater Bros. Here's what I noticed on my last visit: The aisles are pretty narrow - you can barely squeeze a cart past a cart. The checkers and baggers know their stuff - and get you in and out of line ASAP. I like the produce section - they seem to always have what I'm looking for - and plenty of it. This is the closest Staters to me - but I'm willing to check out the location in Placentia, too! read more

I absolutely loveee this location! My fiancé and I specifically go to this location, even over the closer one to us. They have the best selection of meats and seafoods compared to the other locations around. And also, I would love to leave a VERY good review for Christopher in the meat department. I always enjoy shopping at the store it's one of the smaller stater brothers locations but it's always well signed so you know what everything costs and what items are on sale. The team is always either stocking the shelves fronting the shelves rotating the product but they always stop what they're doing and ask people if they need help. This is a smaller Stater Bros so it doesn't have the bakery, has smaller deli, smaller meat section, etc. However it is always well organized and staff is super friendly. Whether I'm walking down an aisle or in line to pay everyone working is super friendly. Always greeted with hello and smiles. I like that they have 2 sizes of shopping carts. You got the bigger one in grey for a full market and the smaller black cart which is easier to maneuver. There are two red box kiosks inside too. Downside is they usually have two express lanes for 15 items or less open and one lane for regular purchases. This sucks because the one regular lane gets long. They do start calling over from the express lane to come over to pay but I feel bad when everyone behind me just has a couple of items. They should open two of each at least to keep it flowing. read more

We went in for some meat from the butcher around 7:30 pm. The butcher was gone for the day but the two men, Kenneth and Chris, who were behind the counter, were not only accommodating but had such a good time helping us and other customers. We drive from Orange, past our Stater Bros., to come to this store. We have always been met with friendly faces, however this time was amazing. Thank you to Kenneth for making our purchase fun. The world needs more people like you. They truly are the best... professional, accommodating and service with a smile. They set the bar high and should be commended for their service and willingness to go above and beyond to exceed their customers expectations. Be careful if using the meat counter. They are usually very careful, but tonight the guy working in the meat department was sweeping up the junk off the floor behind the counter. He picked it up by sweeping it into his hand - then proceeded to assist me. He grabbed a sheet of plastic and patted it down on the scale with that same unwashed hand. Then, he grabbed another sheet and passed it back to his other hand so he had touched both sides - then he scooped up the meat and plopped it right on top of the other contaminated sheet. I was not sure what to do or say, so I took the package of meat to the checker and explained the situation and did not purchase it. If you've ever had e-coli or salmonella you can't imagine how horrible it can be. Having seen this I was imagining the bacteria that was on his hands from the broom and the junk on the floor - and who knows what else he was touching before helping me. Yikes! Watch them like a hawk at the counter and remember e-coli and salmonella will transfer by touch! read more

I'm not a huge Stater Bros. fan. This location feels really old to me. My husband and I actually refer to it as the "ghetto" Stater Bros. I read the other review on here, and I have to say that I have always had really good experiences with the butchers at this and the other 2 Stater Bros. locations in the area (Yorba Linda & Placentia). I think that they always have good prices and good quality meats. The butchers also always cut the whole chickens into pieces for me (even when they're on super sales!). They are also always really nice to me. I buy almost all of my meat from Stater Bros. and have yet to have a problem. *knock on wood* Another thing that I do like about Stater Bros.: the fact that they mark their ripe avocados with little stickers, and that they always have ripe avocados in stock. There is also a recycling center in the parking lot which I believe is associated with the grocery store. You take your receipt to the checker and you can apply your balance to your grocery bill or you can get cash. Yay for recycling! read more

I only shop at this location because I live in Anaheim Hills and I don't drive. In all honesty, I'd rather pay Vons steep prices and get better service. The cashiers are less than friendly and the baggers do NOT understand the concept of light or double bagging even though I explain every time, that I am walking. I agree that the store needs some updates but really, it's the service that needs to be worked on before anything else. I'll keep shopping here because it's close but it's time for them to train their staff on the definition of "service with a smile." read more

This was one of the first Stater Brother's we found when we first moved to the OC 7 years ago and everything is still the same, in a good way ^_^ SB has a special spot in my heart since we've been shopping there for years, their prices are so much more reasonable than fancy stores like Ralph's, Von's , & Pavillions. Sure it's dated and old school but in the end you have money left in your pockets compared to those kind of stores. The deli service was friendly and the cashier was very friendly unlike other reviews that I've read. She had a good attitude and wasn't rude like certain employee's at the Orange location -__- Overall, good prices and good service so I'm a fan! ^_^ read more

Why am I writing a review about a grocery store??? Because this place doesn't seem to get enough credit. Sure the exterior is a bit old and "ghetto" but the store is well managed, shelves are properly stocked and very neat. Produce is fresh. Meats are great. Butchers are helpful. I've never had a problem here. And it's nice not to be a "member" to enjoy competitive prices for groceries. I actually live much closer to a Ralph's, but choose to go here instead because I think it has better groceries all around, and again, I was really impressed at how well maintained everything was. It felt like how a grocery should feel. I walk in and I have a very good idea of where things are, and there's no clutter. I feel like I get bombarded with clutter every time I go to the Ralph's closer to me. Don't be turned off by their exterior, it's pretty nice inside. And, also for the record, check out here has been more friendly than Ralph's most the time. read more
