Nice find on our northeastern holiday. Just tooling around finding things to see and eat along the way. I am not really sure what part of Maine we were actually even in. We wander a good bit when we travel. We actually went to place next door first, but this seemed so much more lively and fun! Open air bar for the most part. Great vibe. My kind of place. The folks operating the place were nice and I enjoyed myself immensely here. They take good care of you. On to the food... That was the best freaking chili dogs I have ever had! Chili was great, smothered in queso, and I mean smothered. Fresh cut fries too!! Swoon. I wish I had this in my belly every single day. I am a five star kind of guy, right?!? Or it could have been I was so stinking stoned that it felt that way! Either way.... Killer chili dog! I don't even remember what town we were in or how we got there. I had to google the place to figure out where we were. C had the pulled brisket French Dip! Borealis bread, Swiss cheese, caramelized onions, and housemade au jus. Amazing sandwich! The baked beans were very good as well. I am glad I took a bunch of pics and the food stood out so much so that it stayed locked in my memory banks so well. If you are driving along Route 1 in Maine looking for lighthouses, I highly recommend stopping in Thomaston at Station 118. They have incredible barbecue and friendly staff. I started my meal with the corn ribs and I'm so glad I did. They were flavorful with crispy edges and such a fun way to eat corn on the cob. Then I had the Station BBQ Quesadilla with the pulled pork. Oh my, the pulled pork was tender and juicy and stuffed into a crispy tortilla with lots of cheese and peppers and onions. I also got to take a few bites of a shared piece of corn bread. This came out hot with smoked paprika honey butter in the shape of an adorable pig on top. The corn bread was moist and sweet. At the end of our meal, the waitress even provided us with recommendations for our next destination. read more

Moved here from Texas so my opinion may not matter here! First off I would like to say that the staff was fantastic, friendly and all smiles. Clean tables and restrooms. The live music was a little too loud because we couldn't hear each other talk (we even sat outside) but it was good music. Good band! Autism welcome! My autistic teenager was all smiles. He didn't get any dirty looks, and the staff members were super nice. That alone makes us want to come back. THE FOOD: See pics... the "Salad Wedge"was terrible. Let me specifically say that the flavor was on point, but it's not a wedge. The warm soggy lettuce did nothing for me. The blue cheese crumbles, pork belly, and fresh veggies on it was good, just not the lettuce. The Pork Sandwich: (my husbands food) was good but as he crunched down on a bone and spit it out, he just pushed it aside and continued eating. It happens when you are working with fresh pulled pork. Luckily no tooth was broken. He topped it with the blueberry bbq sauce and let me say, that bbq sauce was really good. Half Chicken: my son got the half chicken with two sides. It was ice cold as soon as it came out so it didn't get eaten. We will warm it up at home and see how the taste is. The Mac & Cheese was cold as well. When all is said and done, we had a nice family dinner, and we will just try something different next time. It is a little expensive but honestly, you can't get bbq in this town at all so if you're looking for some fresh bbq this is where to go. Keeping our fingers crossed for the next time. I ordered a single brisket plate to go, listed price of $26 on their website. When I pick up the plate, it is extremely busy and I can't really hear the total, so I just hand him my card and pay. I receive the receipt and my food was $34.44, over an $8 increase. It was not an itemized receipt so I could not tell what I was charged for. I left a tip on this (not much because I was astounded at the price). I called the following day to see if I was incorrectly charged and they could not provide an answer for me. I call back twice after that, everyone agreed that it sounded like I was overcharged, but no one knew how/why? I am finally told by a manager that it is a 15% service fee they put on every to go meal. This was never mentioned, so why are you allowing people to unknowingly tip on top of this? Why did your employees not immediately know this was the cause of increase? Also, most people order out when they cannot afford a tip so 15% on top of the already expensive food seems like a lot...Almost $40 for 2 pieces of brisket, not even a hand full of fries and a scoop of mac and cheese. read more

Very good barbecue! I had the pulled pork with mac n cheese and a Johnny cake. The pork was perfectly smoked and SO moist. The house sauce was delicious. The mac n cheese was both creamy and cheesy (most are either one or the other). The corn bread is sweet (which in the South is called Johnny cake) and was moist without being doughy. Very tasty! My husband isn't fond od barbecue and had the fish sandwich and he said it was good as we're the fries. Very good meal. We will go back when in Thomaston! read more

We walked up to Station 118 with our 3 young kids (including 1 in a stroller) for some Saturday afternoon drinks and appetizers. What a phenomenal experience. Our waitress was Mattie and she provided the best service we have had in a long long time. We will actively seek a table in her section for future visits. Her drink recommendation was the apple cider margarita and it was absolutely delicious. 10/10 would recommend. We shared an order of the corn ribs and they were fantastic. One of the funniest and most creative appetizers we have had in or near Rockland and would definitely order them again. The atmosphere and ambience on the covered patio is awesome, you get a bit of people watching with the foot traffic going by, just an all around cozy and awesome spot. If there were a way to give 10 stars I would. I am picky and I consider myself a foodie! I seek out some of the best wings and chicken sandwiches everywhere I go. The wings and chicken sandwich were unmatched. if you like a crispy wing with mind blowing flavor these wings are unforgettable! The chicken sandwich was the best I've ever had (I've had a lot!) A smoked chicken thigh that is batter dipped and fried! The ranch was and the pickles just made the sandwich! The ribs fell off the bone and had such incredible flavor. The pulled pork was also out of this world and for those who aren't about smoke, the fish and chips and hot dogs were also terrific! Food is important, and it missed the mark. the atmosphere was great the service was good enough but the food was awkward. Let me explain, I ordered the pork ribs half rack several sides and two appetizers my date had BBQ dip sandwich. Ribs are important for a BBQ joint, you should be able to almost slide the meat off the bone and all the silver skin should be trimmed off... This was not the case. The ribs are as tough as rubber, unfortunately. I wouldn't order again. The Mac and cheese was hyped by our waitress... Its nothing special, honestly a little bland and no toasted cheesy flavor, not creamy... it's kinda hot lunch level, really nothing to go out of your way to order. Big let down was the potato salad, see the thing about potato salad is it gives your mouth a break from the spice and heat of the BBQ It helps you taste the BBQ but this was spiced to the hilt! I get under seasoned potato salad is a sin but this was overkill in the worst way possible. We got the queso fries, not bad but it was a little one note again, good fries good sauce, needed some acid and smoke to break up the carbs and fat, a little pulled pork and bacon and a shot of BBQ sauce drizzled over top would take this to a dish up several notches in my opinion. Like a BBQ poutine. Enjoyed the cornbread, top notch. Beans... Don't get them unless you like hatch chilies, ... New England makes the best beans on earth and these don't even come close to our traditional recipe. To acidic. Wish I could give it 6 stars! The pulled pork sandwich and house bbq sauce were absolutely delicious. 2 weeks later and I can't stop thinking about it. The other guests in our party raved about the ribs. Such a bonus that there are delicious vegetarian options such as "Corn Ribs" and vegetarian bbq. I asked for a salad instead of the coleslaw. It was delivered with the slaw. The server told me I had ordered it that way (which I hadnt). She took away the coleslaw finally. Did my fries ever show? Love the outdoor dining, reminds me of the awesome classic hangout places I'd often go to when stationed down in VaBeach and SD. Has a very chill, relaxed, and welcoming vibe. They had live music playing during dinner, and even with a newborn, we felt welcome and happy to have found such an awesome local place to have dinner. The food was amazing, and the owners were there just chilling and hanging out too, super friendly folks. Needless to say, I wish we had gone sooner. This will be our new date night spot from now on! We finally went for dinner and loved everything about Station 118. First, it looks perfect for a bbq restaurant and it's casual atmosphere seems carefully cultivated. Very nicely done! The service was fast, friendly, and our server was super sweet and cute! The food was hot and came out quickly. We shared wings, cornbread, and pork tacos. The Wings were the best I have had in the area, Smoked and then deep-fried. They were juicy and crunchy at the same time served with four different in-house made sauces. Going back soon to try some ribs and salad to enjoy one of the homemade salad dressings! The only thing I'd do differently is serve the cornbread warm. The piggie butter is a cute touch. . . This is the second time that I visited Station 118 first time was about a year ago and then this afternoon for lunch and to give it an honest review would be to say that I like to give any restaurant a couple chances before I post anything, and I must say that I was a little bit disappointed across-the-board with what we order today The establishment is super cute great little location, old gas station feel great Decour on the inside the field the bar everything's really good on aesthetically the food not as good as I'd hope we ordered the chili, con queso, french fries, poutine style, appetizer, the chili and the cheese sauce was very good and the disappointing part was the french fries Super soggy and they were undercooked. They felt like they were still raw inside. I mean they were fried, but they weren't weren't good french fries at all then we got the ribs with mac & cheese and corn on the cob. The corn was very good and it had a little dusting of some sort seasoning on it. Mac & cheese was good, you know a good quality tasty mac & cheese. Good covering of the cheese sauce goes really well with their sauces if you'd like to dip it but the ribs need a knife just to get meat off the bone super dry I don't know if they were over cooked or if it was just a bad cut of meat not sure because he could smoke ring on it, it was flavorful, but just not the type of ribs that you would expect from a barbecue joint. I have a short barbecue from all over the country, Texas, North Carolina, and everywhere in between roadside fancy places and these might've been the worst batch of ribs that I've had just unfortunately just not Tender they were not juicy you know not mouthwatering they do not fall the bone room. Are you think about ribs? Unfortunately these were not however, looking at one of the other customers next to us they had brisket and it looked fantastic so I think overall it like I said, I think I'll give it three stars. Oh, it's probably worthy of another trip back but I hope they read the reviews in and take a look at their procedures and maybe it's just a small thing here and there that they could address or really synonym of the top because I think it's got a lot of possibilities. We were there for lunch and apparently they don't serve sliced brisket at lunch only dinner. That is a crime. Chopped or pulled brisket is not my favorite, and all the brisket flavor, the bark, the moistness, the smoke is lost in the shredded beef. Don't do that brisket, just pork.
