Oh 280, when I lived by you I visited you all the time only due to convenience. Now I mostly avoid you because service is usually not very good, but when you visit here and expect to have slow service, it can be a fun college bar. I shouldn't say this happens every time, just the majority of the time. However, there are many perks to visiting you, such as the endless 241s, for some reason $3.50 for whiskey and $4.50 for vodka, but nonetheless 2 for that prices, all day, everyday. I don't know why they haven't got the best happy hour award yet. The many TVs you have, as there are hardly in places in the cities that are good sports bars, are definitely draw me in when I get sick of my normal places. The space is huge, it used to be a warehouse huge. Which is good when it is busy, but I don't know if I've ever seen it overflowing. Saying that, there are plenty of spaces at the bar and games in the back room. The food is actually pretty good, they also have a lot of stellar food deals for the night. It's a little too spendy for me, but recently, a bunch of my friends have got the wings, which are $0.40 on Sundays, and they've all said they are really good. 2-for-1s all day everyday is hard to beat when you're on a budget and you want to get out. The service is slow, but that's probably because they have such few staff on at once. The place is a lie. They advertise 2 for 1's. My friend and I ordered 2 tap beers and they charged us $8. The next round they charged us $8. I asked how the 2 for 1' s worked and they said we were given 2 for 1's. I asked if I just wanted 1 beer would they charge me $8 for 1 beer and she/owner said I would give you 2 beers for $8. I responded that if I had a drinking problem and could only have 1 beer how much would it be and she said your beer would be $8. She actually stooped so low to compare her prices to downtown prices. This bar is in the middle of nowhere and nowhere near downtown. She then said what would you pay for a two hearted downtown? I said $6 but I am not downtown. She got flustered and left. 2 for 1s all day every day is a pretty nice deal along with 5 dollar sandwich baskets between 11 - 12. The place is huge and has enough tvs for most people's viewing pleasure. Unfortunately I feel like the positives end here. The bartenders need to figure out how to fill a drink up to the top of the glass and the wait staff does seem kind of slow because it can get pretty packed in there. I went to Station 280 to watch the Gopher game and have a few beers with some friends. A byproduct of beers - eating food. We ordered the Italian Fries and Buffalo Wings. Our order took 40 minutes to get to our table and we didn't see our waitress during that time. Anywhere. The place isn't that big. When she brought us our food, she was *astonished* that our drinks were empty. It was forty (40) minutes. When I asked where she'd been (I was irritated) she said she was "running food" for the other waitress. We were one of three tables. All within sight. Anyway. I'm over it. The fries were good. The wings were dry. It could be a good spot if there was better management and employee accountability. It won't be my first choice to watch a game in the future. read more

I used to come to this place for 16+ nights... when it was The Playground Nightclub. Man! Those were the days. Now, this place is a freaking huge bar! It was a pretty empty Friday night. This place has always been fairly mediocre with usually slow service and mediocre food, but the one great special they had on Tuesday was Pizza and Beer where they would bring you slices of pizza and give you unlimited tap beer from 7-9pm for about $11. I would walk there and back Tuesdays for the occasion, but was told today that they "no longer have that special." Thats like Mcdonalds telling you they they no longer have the Big Mac! What a disappointment! I walked out afterwards and went to Manning's a few blocks down because really, there was nothing else to keep me at 280. This place has also gone downhill since I moved into the neighborhood as they raised taco Wednesday from $1 Tacos to $1.50 Tacos and changed their half-priced apps special from any app to only a select few "starred" apps. In addition to its usually slow service, losing Pizza and Beer was the final nail in the coffin for me ever wanting to come back here. Last time I was there was a Saturday night and was there for 3 hours, our waiter checked on us twice the whole night. It took forever to get the food we did order. Really wanted to try a Juicy Lucy for the first time, so we came here. Worst by far! We order 3 of them and all three was super salty, as if someone just dumped a whole can of salt into each burger. The place is a dive... That being said it is surprisingly good ***it's 2-4-1 all the time but the beers cost more than any other place I have been to. Atmosphere: it's a full mix of college age students and older people. They have specials every day that are pretty good, and a lot if TVs playing all kinds of sports. The one thing that I liked the best was that on my third visit each bartender remembered me. The nice thing about that i had only been in to get a couple of drinks only twice before. A pretty good dive bar if you're into that sort of thing. We went here often as a break from the typical college sports bar (although this one has some college guests as well) and for trivia. The food is meh and the specials can be good but if they don't have any drink specials it is not worth the visit as there are plenty of other bars around where you'll get more bang for you buck. I still like going to this place to watch a big sports game or something because the atmosphere is above average for that sort of thing but I still would only go if there was a food or drink special going on so check out their website before visiting to see what they got going on and visit! read more

We planned a happy hour at Station 280, expecting 25-30 people and ended up with nearly 50. The staff was flexible, helpful, and managed the crowd so well. We were all impressed and thankful for such good service. Can't beat the drink deals and the food is great (in the realm of bar food). We walked here all the way from mannys bar which is a little over a half a mile in 0 degree weather at 1030 at night only to be greeted by a server stating that they were No longer serving and a guy along with a few other military veterans I was with asked why the bar was closed so early and she stated " we can close the bar any time we want so you need to go somewhere else!" And shut the door on us! I couldn't believe the rude attitude coming from this women. I have been in the restaurant business for many years and I know not to treat ANYONE like that no matter what. I've been to this establishment multiple times. The service is consistently bad. You may as well go right to the bar to order drinks and food, because the wait staff is usually socializing with each other or on their cell phones. Even at the bar, you will likely wait too long for service. It isn't just because the place is too busy or anything like that. I've been there on busy and slow nights, and I can tell you the service sucks regardless. Now, if the service is so horrible, which it is, why would I keep going there? Answer - 2 for 1 drink special all the time. This is the only reason anybody should ever step foot in this place. Also, I have a buddy that lives very close so proximity plays a part too. The food is typical bar fare, usually OK. They have some good TV's for sports viewing. I was there last night, hoping again that the employees might finally realize that good service equals good tips. Apparently they still haven't, so I guess they must just like hanging around in a greasy smelling bar for minimum wage. If I didn't have to give this place at least one star to write this review I wouldn't have! Saturday night the Bouncer had let my friends and I in and put exes on our hands... We walked to the pool tables and put in money to play and attempted to get comfortable... But before that could happen we were interrupted by that same Bouncer (5-10 minutes later) that let us in and checked our IDs at the front ... He walked up to us and rudely said "yall gotta go.. Yall just gotta go.. " I calmly asked why and he responded that a couple of my friends weren't "dress code appropriate" ... Since when did station 280 or just a bar in general have a strict dress code ? And if that was really the case why were we let in at the door IN THE FIRST PLACE??? This was absurd... I knew that was just BS.. My friends have been to this bar before and had no problems during a few previous visits.. We drove from Minnetonka to this bar only to have our time wasted and to be disappointed. My friends were fully clothed and not wearing any offensive clothing nor being rowdy or thugs! I do not recommend going to this bar. I honestly believe the bouncer/staff were racial profiling. Don't let us in and then decide to kick us out once you realized you let a group of Asians and African Americans in. I've never had to deal with such an uncomfortable situation like this... 2-for-1's all day every day on everything . . . can't beat that deal. Me and my friends like to come here for a mid-week beer after rec leagues and enjoy watching games there. Especially since they started showing the Badger games. The service is on the slower side but the waitstaff is really nice. They usually only have a couple waitresses serving that huge bar so we cut them slack. The food is pretty decent. The chef salad is tasty. Their Reuben pizza is amazingly good. The $1 tacos on Wednesday nights are a steal. Their pizza deals are a steal because the pizza is so large. I have been a fairly regular customer at Station 280 for quite some time. I will have hard time justifying returning after last weekend. I was met with extremely rude/uncalled for behavior by the owner. Furthermore, he has no problem berating his staff in front of anyone in earshot. I am disgusted by the unnecessary attitude given by the owner towards myself, and CUSTOMERS in general, you know, the people who keep the place in BUSINESS. With this type of treatment, I don't anticipate this establishment will last. It's a huge shame, as I once very much enjoyed going to Station 280. read more

First time at the 280 and I was pleasantly surprised. The environment was just up my alley and the 2 for ones were perfect. Fun staff and Jinga! lol. The 2-for-1s are great, but there is a great variety on how strong the drinks are. I was thoroughly unimpressed with their version of a "Juicy Lucy" but their other appetizers were acceptable. Service was about average for a bar; the server usually got us refills on our alcoholic drinks before we finished the last one. There were no sporting events on when I was there, but there were plenty of TVs, so I'd consider it for a game day. Definitely a lot nicer on the inside than the outside would indicate. Not worth going out of your way for, but a decent consideration if you're close. read more

When my group first arrived we picked a seat, after we were sitting down for about 20 minutes or so we were finally greeted by our server Kaylie O. took our drink orders, after about 15 minutes we finally got our drink orders. She forgot the lime in two drinks, she CARRIED OUR LIMES OVER WITH HER BARE, UNWASHED HANDS OVER TO OUR DRINKS AND PLACED THEM IN! I understand bartenders do this but i at least would like the semi fantasy that they don't and maybe use tongs. After another 25 mins she comes over and ask about our order, after receiving our orders we wait another 30 mins for our food and the order isn't even fully correct. After eating our food and discarded our limes, our group tried to move to a both. Asking our waitress politely if it was possible for us to move she response was "Well I rather you wouldn't." It definitely was rude, I understand it is hard to move a table to another area and the bar system may not allow her without closing our tab but her response was unnecessary. After asking to close our tab which took her another 25 mins, we noticed her talking to the bar/wait staff for 10 straight minutes of those 25. We finally closed our tabs, she also didn't bring the blue cheese dipping sauce until she closed our tabs... like really you had to wait the last minute to finish our order. After switching area and getting a new waitress everything was great until the waitress DID THE SAME THING WITH THE LIMES. Maybe its a bar policy, if so it need to change because it is gross and disgusting. I am very disappointed with HYGIENE and also POLITENESS of this bar. Will probably NEVER come back. read more

Was there on Monday, 12-28-2015 for a promotional night of bubble hockey with former WILD player Mark Parrish and beer. And the WILD game that followed on the big screen. Love the always 2-4-1's. Got the half price burger with tater tots (they brought me fries but made it right) Yum. On the night I was there I wish I had dressed warmer because it was cold inside. I kept my jacket zipped up the whole time. I even took a couple of laps around the long bar in an attempt to warm up - seriously I did. I probably have a bias because we used to come here during the 'good ole college days' but I've always loved this place. Also, who doesn't love 2-for-1's... All day, everyday!! It applies to all of the tap beer which is a decently large variety of types- I love large lists because I'm picky with beer and only generally like wheat or light beers... And they have a couple that I would drink! On Tuesday's, the special is $10.99 for a pitcher (of Mich Golden or Coors) and a pizza (pepperoni or sausage) which is awesome! If you're looking for a craft, wood-fired pizza, this is NOT it. I'm not sure that it's much more than a frozen pizza but it's thin crust and good enough for me. I think there are specials for every day but that just happens to be the day I went. My friends with me got the buffalo wings and the whiskey potstickers and both had good things to say about them. Service can be slow, especially if you sit in the bar area, but for the dive-bar feel of a college bar, I don't have too many expectations. They have a few arcade-style games in the corner which I've never played but some do. Overall, it's a large space (good for big groups) with a lot of TV's so great for a gathering or casual place to have a beer (or two). read more

I have been here twice. This is a college bar. As I near 40 I also did not feel out of place here either time. The 241's and Sunday night wing special is what pulled me in. They are really good with lots of sauces and dry rubs to choose from. Have had good service both times.. I am looking forward to trying their other weekly specials and of course the 241's! read more

Update - the beer is still the highlight, but new managers have started righting the ship. The food has improved drastically. Staffing can still be a struggle for them on really busy nights, but at least there are MORE busy nights these days, which makes it a little more predictable. Now, if you have a problem with long waits, it's because they're that busy and not because there's one waitress trying to serve 400 customers. Improvements to the TVs & projector setup have also helped. I moved out of the 'hood, so I don't visit as often as I used to, but it's nice to see the good things - like the beer selection and 2-4-1 model - haven't changed and the bad things are starting to change. read more

They have 2-4-1's all the time with no limitations to what type of beer you want. It's certainly the best deal in town! They have awesome bar food, but don't try to eat anything healthy there.
