Went up to the bartender and I said I thought it was supposed to a tasting event. He said, yeah maybe check with your promoter. Lol, I don't have one. We then asked, what do you recommend and yes, we did have to pay. Usually Chandon events has a complimentary tasting. This lounge area is inside W Hotel in Hollywood. Love the decorations and the furniture they chose. Very chic and modern. There are two big community tables with charging stations!! Yes~ charging stations for your electronics!!! How thoughtful is that! Nice patio seating area with fire pits. Great place to hang out. The Service: Wonderful! Very attentive. Excellent customer service. The Food: ORGANIC KALE SALAD - Crisp Pita, Jalapeno, Soledad Farm Goat Milk Feta, Creamy Citrus Dressing. They overcooked the kale salad, no more crunchy texture. Overdressing too so the pita is no longer crisp. Love it when they add the jalapeno, a little kick. SWEET POTATO FRIES - Chipotle Maple Dipping Sauce. The chipotle map dipping sauce is so unique. Girls weekend in LA and I get checked into the hotel before everyone else. I decide the pool top bar is too hot so I head to the lobby. The outdoor courtyard is pretty shaded and I wanted to get some fresh air after the flight. This is mostly seating in and outside the lobby of the W Hollywood. But honestly it was perfect. I went up to the bartender asking if I can/should order with her to eat outside. She was kind and confirmed I could order with her. Got the sparkling rose and the hummus platter. Surprisingly delicious with great presentation... so much so I guess I forgot to take a picture! Unexpected pleasant surprise while waiting for my friends! read more

I came for an event and great excuse to check this place out since I always wanted to stop by. Well lets just say it's finally out of my system. The hotel is very nice and chic, it has a nice view of the city around you. I love that they have a gorgeous red carpet staircase that takes you up to the private halls and rooms and you get a nice view to scope the crowd and the place out . They have a comfy internet room in the second floor and if your lucky enough to check it out they also have a roof garden. Back to the patio area, where the Station outdoor lounge is located, they have a full bar, comfy seats and two great fire pits to keep you warm. The staff was nice for the most part, but lets just say we bumped into one pretentious bartender that seemed overwhelmed or something and I don't understand why since they had just opened up. The place is pricey but dang! we ordered a couple appetizers and lets just say we payed to have that chicken flown in first class to make it to our plate in four chicken strip pieces! GEEZ! Too much for what it was. The drinks are the price you would expect at this place and i'm glad at least that didn't dissapoint. Trust me on this one, Its worth getting valet. It's $20 bucks but a small tip: validate! and you end up paying only a juicy $7 with the money left over for a couple drinks somewhere else. 3.5 from me.... Came here on a Saturday night... got here pretty early.. 9ish.. So we were able to snag a table and part of a couch. A line did start to form around 10ish but didn't last very long. WARNING: those bed type couches sit pretty low.. I had to stand a few times to stretch my legs out... and I ain't even 5 feet tall! Ha. The place is nice though. I love the fireplace and lil heaters to keep you warm on those chilly nights. Anyhow... I like this place! The best way for me to describe it was, Hollywood... but not! There's some good looking people (especially one of the security guards.. Next to the gate by Drai's. Hey hey hey! Hahhah). But not a typical Hollywood hot spot where all the patrons are uber hot... DJ was spinning some hip hop from the 90s-- my fav! There were people dressed up to some in chucks and denim shorts. No one was really dancing... there really isn't any place to either. My friends and I were grooving while sitting though. Drinks weren't bad... $8 for a glass of Cab was pretty good. Prices do go up... specialty cocktails were $11-14 but I thought $8 was good compared to the $13 for the cheapest glass at the Viceroy. Count me in again... especially during summertime! read more

Like this thick buffalo asian dude shouted from the mountain tops of the W valet drive way, " FUCK YOU!" This must have been your first time doing an NYE event, because this shit was a super hot mess! My date bought the tickets online almost a month in advance ( 100 bucks all you can drank.) That didn't mean shit because everyone can afford 100 bucks and that night it seemed like yuppie 21 yrs were all over that. Im only 27 and I felt like a ole bitch around these tweens! My date is in his 40s so thank god for a man thats open to doing whatever the hell I want to do and being comfortable doing it. Ok so we get there around 10 or so and you can't tell which line is what, it was bad. So get this the line was insane just to get the neon wrist band. Im thinking will we even get in this place by midnight. I truly wasn't looking like we would. So these yuppie kids were selling their wristbands two for a hundred bucks. Everyone was so skeptical of this but my date asked if I wanted to do it, so I said fuck it, I have nothing to lose at this point so fuck it LOL We get up to the part where were TRYING to get in. Security had no fuckin game plan on how to have ropes or any form of barricade to get people in one standard uniform line!!!! They were baffled, it was nuts. Then they had the nerve to have the fire marshall stand there, trying to tell us were not letting more people in. Yea right mister, he tried strong arming us, that fuck knew damn well he didn't want to be there as much as we didn't want him there. I love my fire men but fire marshalls have theeee biggest sticks up their ass. Finally we get in after 30 minutes of bull. Go to the bar and WTF its a paying bar, um we all paid for the same thing, why is there a bar with a fee!?!?!?! The free booze is in the courtyard under one of this huge wedding type tents. Oh and get this the champagne was also not free. Um so what am I getting for 100 bucks . My date the trooper that he is yet again, got us tons of shots and vodka and cranberries lol The upstairs had no umph just a bunch of highschool looking kids socializing and ultra bright bathrooms. Oh and there was no where to sit, unless you had bottle service. This lead to me standing 3 plus hrs and I literally feel like I have a broken toe!!!! There was barely a loud countdown, it came and gone LOL Only good that came from that evening was the Shakira look alike I befriended and the bartender giving us double shots instead of being lame and giving us dribbles. This is a cute trendy spot. Not too bougie or high maintenance. The drinks are a great size and good prices. The service was very friendly. We reserved a table for about ten people which was ready by the time we got there. The server was great about accommodating our Birthday cupcakes we brought for a friend. They offered to put them in the fridge in the back. I was super happy with all aspects of this place. Food was yummy, pricing was good, bathrooms were clean ( and there were a lot of them), music selection kept me happy all night. ONE COMPLAINT , and this is hotel pricing so I can t even complain too much... between valet and tip..... 30 bucks.... YUP. I would suggest this place if you wanted to do a cute kind of romantic place for a date that isn't toooooo muchhhhh, or a cool girls night. Went here on a Friday night for friend's birthday and the place had a surprisingly low key vibe despite it being in the middle of Hollywood Blvd. AND being outside. The music was chill with the DJ spinning mostly hip hop and some house with videos accompanying it on the giant projector. Station never got as crowded as The Living Room which was nice as our large group was able to snag a large day bed type seating area for the whole night; although it probably gets more action during the summer. Drink prices were reasonable and definitely on the stronger side! Overall, trendy and chic but casual enough to just hang out and have good drinks with friends. This is a great place to chill and have a drink by the firepits. Hit Station for Happy Hour before hitting the train at Hollywood and Vine. There are plenty of places to sit, good drinks, friendly bartenders and lots of "scenery" to watch. There is always something going on here and you never know who will spot. They had a huge party for Out Magazine a couple days ago and there was lots of great music and fun to be had. If you are staying in the hotel, you can pop down for a nice cocktail in the cool LA air before heading to your room or stick around for a night cap and listen to some of the live music in the living room. Either way, it is a cool place to hang. The drinks are expensive so it is not an everyday spot for me. read more

the lounge inside the W Hollywood Hotel....great place to come chill during the week nights...the outdoor patio is relaxing if the weather is nice...comfortable seating...it gets really busy during the weekends dont feel like staying home on a sunday night? not ready to call it a night yet??? well every sunday theres a jazz event w/ burlesque dancers...gone to it a few times and it gets super packed....always a good performance!!!! the drinks are average hollywood prices..they have a few specialties, the summertime lemonade is refreshing...cucumber cooler its actually pretty strong...my friend really liked the gimlets. read more

let me preface this by saying that I was a guest at the W during my visits to Station Hollywood. AS A GUEST, I thought this place was pretty good. I love outdoor bars with ample seating (check and check), and as an added extra, there are heaters for the chilly hollywood nights. although there is no cover, drinks are pretty expensive (vegas expensive), but you are really there for the awesome ambiance, and to see and be seen with the flocks of beautiful people here and in the W Living Room. that aside, I could not imagine coming here if i were not a guest. I saw tons of velvet rope and doormen holding back crowds waiting to get into just the Living Room and Station. as a guest, this was a great option after we saw the hoops we'd have to jump through to get to Drai's, but it wasn't so great that i'd wait in line behind velvet ropes and doormen to get to. the waitresses were pretty cute though... read more

Nice couches and lounging areas surround the space and there is a huge projector displaying sports on one of their walls. The drinks are yummy, but Hollywood priced as expected; and Delphine Restaurant is right next door. Overall, trendy but casual enough to just hang out and have a good cocktail. read more

Celebrated my birthday party here last weekend. The venue is beautiful and the Saturday night scene is lively. The vibe is Hollywood trendy and the drinks are pricey. We reserved a table via Erika A. their Events Hostess. She was very nice on the phone and made sure she placed us right in the center of all the action. Our initial server, Casey, was nice too. She took care of us and handled our bill dispute with class. We were given the price we wanted on one of the bottles we ordered. All in all, I can't complain about the venue or the service here. If you make it rain, then you will be treated with excellent customer service. The old adage goes... you get what you pay for. read more

This review is in regards to my experience at AN EVENT at the W Hollywood not an overnight stay. I attended NYE with a party of nine people (7 women and 2 men). We had purchased a TABLE about a month in advance. We arrived at the event shortly after 10 pm. We waited in line for over an hour for a table we had already purchased. The poor experience really put a damper on the evening on which we had spent a lot of money. I will not be attending future events and I would not recommend events at the W Hollywood. read more

The Station is an open-air bar ensconced in the vibe of 'luxe'. Flaming centerpieces attract socialites to wicker lounge chairs topped with cozy, thick pillows as a live dj spins techno grooves. The scene is highlighted by a mega screen that loops images or plays movies in the b.g.. (Monday, I'm told, is typically 'movie night', just not on the 4th of July.) But while the TV tempts the eye, nothing meets the fancy more than the beautiful people, flanked over the chairs. Besides the W's guests, only the rich and/or gorgeous get past the hotel's velvet ropes. As money is expected to be no object for you, drinks are so weak that you'd have to advertise yourself as a super lush to get 'crunked'. Four Long Islands later, you can still do your catwalk without falter, and you might even get the frustrating itch to scratch at the absurdly priced in-room mini-bar. The Station's waitresses and bartenders possess a bit of snoot as expected (though snot is *never ever* welcome.) Once the down-lookers find out you're a guest, however, their tones change from "wtf-do-you-want" to 'OMG'-bouncy. The contrast teeters on acrimony, but just to feel 'accepted' amongst the W-IN-crowd... Priceless. No--PRICEY but peerless. And cool??? Maybe-- Just FYI: I got to see the pillow cushions during daylight. Yikes! I'll sum it up with the word "grimy". Ladies w/ cute skirts or dresses: Beware. You may be nesting your tush atop bird dung. Had a great time! I came here with a few friends and was lucky enough to get placed at a table tucked away in the corner. It was a perfect place to catch up over drinks and some delicious fusion Mexican tapas. We shared quite a few dishes between the three of us and they were able to modify the orders to include an extra serving at the appropriate charge so that we could share each plate evenly. My favorite dish was the taco tropical: a pinko shrimp taco wrapped in a thinly sliced Jamaica "tortilla" and topped with a spicy ravioli that's very reminiscent of La Vic's orange sauce. The Jamaica added just the right amount of juicy crispness. Very innovative and delicious. Definitely would love to come back soon to try the rest of the menu! read more

Went here Friday night for a friends birthday party. Love that we can take advantage the gorgeous LA nights by hanging out at the patio all night. Good music by the dj, while there was no dancing, there were a lot of people bopping their heads to the beat. There seemed to me an art show while we were there but I didn't venture to check it out. I was too busy catching up with my friends and people watching. I wasn't thrilled that the people next to us were smoking. Not sure if that's allowed but no one seemed to be regulating them. Another thing that was annoying was that it took us nearly 40 minutes to get an order of sweet potato fries, we had to hunt down the waitress to see what was going on. Note the fries are served with a maple syrup-esque dip, not ketchup. We were split on how we felt about the dipt but we moved on because we were just happy that we actually got the fries. read more

The Station is the outdoor bar/patio area at the W Hotel in Hollywood. Not to be confused with Wet Deck or Living Room, both also at the W Hollywood. The venue is okay, but there's not much that can be done in an outdoor area. Ample seating and a single bar to serve expensive drinks. It's decently spacious for a Hollywood hotel patio, but not as much personality as say a WLA boutique hotel patio. Modern, trendy and sterile. Again, I don't judge a venue by it's partygoers, just it's staff and the venue itself. read more

This is only for the bar/patio. Overpriced, over blown situation. Although there are heaters out there, they refuse to actually use them, so bring a blanket. Drinks are ridiculously priced, starting at $15 each. Food options on the patio are scarce and not really all that appetizing. The service totally blows. I feel like part of their training is in the art of ignoring the people that ultimately pay their salary. I'm a cute girl and it took the bartenders, that were doing NOTHING else when I first got there, almost 10 minutes to acknowledge that I was standing at the bar. Once moved to a table, waitress had a very hard time with every thing we asked her to do. We were also asked to move to a different part of the bar because the table we were at was reserved. I also feel like there were several hookers and their pimps? Escorts? Body guards? were running game out there for a little bit. They were honestly wearing the shortest skirts I have ever seen on an actual human. Then they all randomly disappeared after talking with some guys. I think another reviewer noted that this seems to be a popular hang out for that type of thing. Funny/Odd thing: there was a deaf man in the party that I was with--waitress that was from Portugal and barely spoke English walks up, asks what she can get him, he responds, "How are you?" and she said, "I have a boyfriend". He reads lips, so when she said that, he said, "No, I said, How are you?" and she said, "I have a boyfriend". So he then pointed at a beverage and she went away. Very sceney! read more

Came here to check out Jazz night on Sunday nights. I actually have perviously been here for NYE 2013, and that was crackin. But Sunday Night Jazz is definitely worth the venture to check out. The band at the time was doing covers to Maxwell and Stevie Wonder. If you do not know me, that sh^t gets me amped! I love old school slash real music. This is a review for the lobby/bar/patio area only. My friend and I decided to stop by for a drink at the bar. Greatly disappointed by the general decor, and the seediness of this establishment. The white and red color scheme did not work - the place looks cheesy and cheap, in spite of it's obvious aspirations to be a trendy nightlife destination. We saw tons of wannabe scenesters, and hoochie-mamas in cheap knockoff dresses. Very downmarket, plenty of riff raff! Drinks are good and strong, service is prompt. Stopped by here for drinks before a show at the Pantages. Such a cute area with delicious (Albeit expensive) drinks. My friend and i ordered: Mixed berry mohito: Exactly how you would imagine a mixed berry mohito to be. Minty, fizzy, and full of fresh berry flavor. This drink isn't on the menu, but it's delicious. One of the drinks with bourbon in it (ahh i forgot the name, but it had raspberries in it too!) - super strong and delicious. The berries added a nice layer of sweetness to the drink. The drinks are a little steep (at $15 a pop) but the service and ambience are good. Perfect place to stop by if you get to the theatre early and don't want to wait around in your seat! read more

We had trouble with our tickets since we bought through Crave Tickets and it seems like it was a scam because the W had no record of our purchase and said they were not affiliated with them at all. After A LOT of back and forth with the manager and some very upset patrons, we were eventually able to get tickets and get in. It turned out to be a fun night, but it could have been a lot smoother if the W was more sympathetic to our group as 3 of our friends were staying at the hotel. They just didn't seem to care about their customers and were not willing to budge until the end. I guess this is what you get with Hollywood. read more

Was here last night for a birthday party! They were very accommodating to our party because we had more guests showing up than reserved for, so they were able to move us to a better/bigger area. The crowd is definitely more trendy and i liked that. The drinks are a bit on the pricey side 14-16 on average. Came here after finding a cockroach at Wood and Vine. Jordan, the bartender was very friendly and made me an awesome drink

my review is based solely on the NYE party my friends and I bought 16 open bar tickets for the W's NYE party a month in advance from the W's event coordinator, Mark. Mark assured us that the party at the W was going to be the best party ever and told us to call him when we arrived at the event so he could escort us into the party if there was a line. It was a nice gesture at the time. Upon arriving at the W last Friday night, we were greeted by at least 3 massively large swarming lines of people. Absolutely no one knew what was going on. The W security was at times just plain rude, shoving people around without providing any information at all as to what line you were supposed to get into. It was blatantly clear that the W event was not well organized. Rumors were circulating outside about the event being sold out. People were claiming that no one was going to get into the event, no matter how long you waited in line. We, of course, tried to get in touch with Mark. Shockingly, he did not answer. We also called the W, while waiting in line, to find out if the rumors were true. No one could give us a straight answer. I mean, we were pretty concerned, we were out over $1000 if we couldn't get in since we had purchased our tickets IN CASH with the event coordinator from the W and we would be stuck in Hollywood with no game plan on NYE. Eventually my friend and I went to the front of the line to find Mark. Lo and behold, he was standing on the stairs alongside a bunch of other security men. We asked to speak to Mark, who was standing behind a fenced off area - conveniently unreachable, and the security guard at the fence said yes, but said we would need to go through the crowd to speak to him, rather than allowing us to simply walk through the walkway to directly access him. No problem, right. I managed to squeeze my way through the crowd and planted myself directly next to Mark and attempted to get his attention. I have never seen anyone ignore me quite so well. even more aggravating was the fact that i had met him less than 2 weeks before when i had handed him over $1000 in cash, i doubt that is something you forget so quickly. this experience was not pleasant, as other girls had the same idea and were trying to push around and over me to also reach mark. not to be deterred, I literally followed Mark around for nearly 10 minutes as he walked like a chicken with his head cut off around the valet area from line to line dealing with irate patrons demanding to know why they could not get in when they had purchased bottle service, etc. good question, bottle service must have been pretty expensive, they should have been let in sooner. anyways, I finally got Mark to stop for two seconds and he handed me 2 wristbands which gave you the distinct honor of moving from one massive line (to get the wristbands) to another massive line (to get in). this would have been great, minus the fact that the other 14 people in our party were still in line without wristbands. due to the poor organization, half of our party left the W and ventured to other bars around the area before I could grab their tickets and repeat my stalking of Mark so that I could get more wristbands. Eventually, near midnight, some of our party returned to the W. Anyways, once we got in, it was clear that the party was oversold. It was way too crowded. Also, the upstairs area was only open to VIP open bar ticket holders. luckily we convinced all of our party (even those who were not drinking) to purchase those tickets beforehand, otherwise they would not have been able to go upstairs at all... leaving them to the lobby area only. the open bar, i must say, was impressive. we were expecting well drinks and were surprised to find only top shelf alcohol. the music was also great. however, the crowd, which appeared (for the most part) to not even be 21, was clearly taking advantage of this and we were greeted by people puking onto the carpeting when entering the event. even more shocking was listening to people talk about how they were snorting adderall in the bathroom, really, adderall? the W is gorgeous and I can't even begin to describe how trashed the place was. i feel very sorry for the cleaning crew. i also feel very sorry for the family with the small child that was staying at the W who I saw pushing its way through the swarming mobs in an attempt to get inside to their room. i'm sure the child is scarred for life. the event, which was supposed to be open until 2 am was promptly shut down at 1 am. as in, the bars were completely closed and everyone was kicked out. don't advertise a party that will go from 8-2 when in reality you will not get in until 11 because of poor planning and be kicked out at 1. not cool. read more

Great place to meet people here in LA before going to Drai's nightclub. Come here and have a few and chill in the comfortable chairs. It's an outside open bar located @ The W Hollywood Hotel right above the subway Metro Station on Hollywood Blvd. Only bad thing was that the DJ was stuck in the late 80's/early 90's. Playing older music from my past was like being in a time warp. How would you like to hear music they played in your high school era, not kool. I was hoping for something way kooler for LA. maybe it was an off night or maybe an off DJ. Geez I sure hope that doesnt happen on the regular. Screw the music though. The women there were diggin it so I really couldn't care less. I enjoyed seeing women who could actually dress with some style and class very sexy I do have to say. Worse service ever. Ordered a hummus plate and a water with no ice. They forgot to bring utensils. Couldn't get the attention of a server. By the time the cutlery came the food was cold. They forgot the water. By the time I got the attention of a server to ask them about the water I had finished the food a long while ago. The water came 20 minutes later but the glass was not clean. Lip marks on the rim. Sent the water back (after trying to get the attention of a server for 5 min) and then the new water came WITH ice. Again had to get a servers attention. It's the bar/lounge in the bottom of the W Hotel so the crowd can be very different night to night. Usually gets pretty busy and even when it does, they do a good job of keeping the drink line short.
