Petite with edgy personality, Lily's Bar is quintessentially L.A. Dark & hidden away, we wouldn't have known of its existence except for it being connected to the Adler Hotel where we were staying. Needing some hydration after seeing Matt Rife at the nearby Hollywood Bowl, we saddled up to the bar & placed an uncomplicated, dry order of Aqua Panna, a Shirley Temple (the syrup in the soda was weak), & a Zitrone Radler which was refreshing & not too tart. Just what the weary travelers ordered.

I'd say this is a great spot to start or end the night especially if you are staying at the Adler which is the hotel connected to this bar. It's walking distance from a lot of other fun bars. I'm all about the aesthetics and hospitality of places and this one had both. I was hoping to get better pictures but with the lighting, I just couldn't. They have a disco ball they turn on later in the night which is a fun addition! The seats and bar area are a fun vibe. Both bartenders were friendly which is always a plus.

Stayed at the Adler hotel for our visit to Cali and immediately fell in love with this place. Amazing drinks, great attention and a great vibe. Definitely the highlight of our weekend was coming here. Zack made the best cocktails and was such a great friendly soul. He made our night memorable. Love this place and can't wait to be back!

Get drunk here. Everyone is cool and you'll have a good night. Plus you can get food next door. And sleep there, if you can't drive home.

Ask the Community - Lily’s Bar

Is there a long wait on a Friday/Saturday night?

Hi, your website states disco on Saturday but you have Dec. 28th & 29th for disco which is a Wednesday and Thursday. So is this a special extra holiday disco nights?

That was an error and has been corrected. Every Saturday is Disco Night with the best of disco all night long. You will find the disco ball lighting up the night on many other nights here at Lily’s.

From the moment we arrived, the team was incredibly accommodating, and having the owner, Adam, present and involved made the experience feel extra special. You can tell this place is run with real pride and passion. The space itself is stunning -- rich with history (we were told it was once Charlie Chaplin's studio and later a library), and you feel that character everywhere you look. Books line the walls, creating a warm, intimate atmosphere that's both elegant and inviting. The staff was attentive, kind, and on top of everything all evening, and the food was fantastic. And if you love wine, you are in very good hands -- their knowledge and selection are outstanding. Beautiful venue, wonderful people, unforgettable experience. We couldn't have asked for a better place to celebrate such a special night. Can't wait to go back!

The atmosphere is quiet and sophisticated, the kind of place that immediately lowers your shoulders. The staff are attentive without hovering, genuinely warm, and deeply knowledgeable. Craig and Randee are true sommeliers: intelligent, perceptive, and able to guide you to exactly the right pour based not just on preference, but on mindset. That said, the wine list is so strong you could throw a dart and land well every time. The food complements the experience beautifully. Order a pizza and a charcuterie board and let them do their work alongside the wine. After leaving, I sat in my car for a few minutes just to savor the lingering sense of peace and equilibrium--exactly what I needed to carry me into the following day. Everything is so overpriced it feels like they are intentionally letting you know you are not good enough to be one of their customers. You can get this type of food and wine at 99 other places with nicer employees, easier parking and much less attitude. The staff behaves as if this was a high school not a wine bar. Do yourself a favor and don't come here. I highly recommend the classic LA ambience at other close by establishments such as The Oaks on Bronson, the Alley in Silverlake or The Cara on Western instead. This place is like a bad Ryan Murphy series. It takes itself way too seriously. I've given them over 4 chances to change my mind since I live around the corner, and they never cease to amaze me when it comes to their entitled snotty staff & overpriced alcohol plus the parking is absolutely impossible! I even had to help customers break out of the parking lot one evening because the gate closes at a particular hour, and the restaurant doesn't even bother to tell you the gates shut at a particular time way before the restaurant closes. you're on your own, good luck getting your car out! avoid this place like the plague. I graciously took them to the counter. I was surprised and uncomfortable when the bartender openly complained about the tip I left. This interaction felt unprofessional and unnecessary, particularly given that it was my first visit and no effort was made to provide a level of service that would warrant such a reaction. I believe feedback regarding gratuity should never be expressed directly to a customer, as it creates an uncomfortable environment and reflects poorly on the establishment. I expected a higher standard of professionalism and customer service. I am sharing this feedback in the hope that it will be addressed and that future guests will have a more positive experience.

Arrived at the Bowl and checked into the host stand an hour early and asked to see if it was possible to be seated early. They explained it was likely we would be seated near our time but that they would call me if any thing changes. My family and I waited till our reservation time and then went up to the host stand to check in and the same host asked if I got their call? I said I didn't and they said they called me and repeated my phone number back to me. While they repeated my phone # back to me, my call log showed 0 calls. The person looked at their phone and said oh I must have put it in wrong. I wasn't sure what to say to that so we were left in an odd moment of silence. The exchange felt fake to me. :( The host then took us to a table with a great view and then just as we got to the table they told us to turn around to go to another table in the back. My daughter liked the table as it had a view so we said we'd sit there. Again, odd. The table as with all the tables in the restaurant are closely placed near one another so there is an overall feeling of being cramped. Also, the tables themselves are small and compact. You are really up close and personal with your fellow diners and the noise level of the restaurant is loud. The food we ordered didn't fit on the table itself so we had to constantly move dishes and glasses around the whole time we ate as food was brought to us and stack the dishes to make room. The food comes out as it is ready which was fine but we noted, the table next to us didn't get one of their dishes (we heard because the tables are so close and you hear everyone's conversations). Everything food wise was pretty good tasting with the exception of the tomato rice that came with the sea bass. It was extremely salty and we couldn't finish it. The servers were running around in a rush so we couldn't flag anyone to get it taken care of. While I appreciate that they moved quickly to get you taken care of before show start, it was hard to get anyone's attention because the whole scene here is completely rushed. While the food was alright, I am not inspired to return and probably won't come back. Overall, it's just really cramped, compacted and the staff, while attentive to some didn't seem to be attentive to us. It was a really odd dining experience.

We were greeted immediately by the Mother Wolf host when we arrived (as Bar Avoja is located inside Mother Wolf). While I believed I had made a reservation for Bar Avoja, I had made a mistake and there was no reservation, but the staff were able to seat us immediately when we arrived anyway. The interior of Bar Avoja is gorgeous. With decadent red curtains all around the bar, and a dim-lit interior, it feels a little bit like you're in Eyes Wide Shut. A waitress soon came over to take our orders. She was super friendly and gave us both drink and food recommendations. We ended up ordering four dishes, and were pretty stuffed by the end. The dishes we got included the sfincione (focaccia like a garlic knot), the octopus skewers, squash blossoms, and frittatina alla norma. The sfincione and the frittatina were the standouts of the meal, and they were both carby dishes so they filled us up. There isn't a lot on the menu, so I'm not sure if I'd recommend it as a place to get a full dinner, unless you're okay with the lack of variety.

Tucked within (at the back of) Mother Wolf, Bar Avoja has its own vibe, its own reservation system,…read moreand its own menu. It's a lounge in every sense -- bigger than you'd expect, lots of armchairs and cushions, low tables, and just enough dim lighting (one small lamp per table) to set the mood. We showed up around 6:30pm on a Saturday and it was pretty empty, which honestly made for a lovely, relaxed start to the evening. A heads up if you're coming with a vegetarian: the food menu is limited, and vegetarian options are slim. There were really only three when we visited: * Sfincione All'Aglione: garlic knot-style bread, tasty but I actually prefer the sfincione over at Mother Wolf * Frittatina alla Norma: rigatoni-style lasagne cut into fried squares, served with sauce. A fun concept, but mostly tasted like the breading and fried flavor. * Fried squash blossoms: we skipped these Our waiter did offer an off-menu margherita pizza for my vegetarian friend, which was a nice touch. As a non-vegetarian, I had the hamburger - usually a Thursday-only item that they extended through Mother's Day weekend - and while it was good (hot, crunchy fries included), $38 felt steep and honestly... at a Roman Italian bar, I'd probably just order off the actual menu next time. The cocktails are where this place really shines: * Morso Di Vita: passion fruit forward with tomato and basil -- excellent, would reorder immediately * Robusta: ginger forward, light and refreshing * Sole Dorato: billed as a spicy margarita, served with an adorable little honey stick One tip: ask about dessert! We weren't offered it and almost missed out. So glad we asked because we ended up with: * Budino al gianduia (I think, no photo of dessert menu): amazing. Crunchy bits on top, thick chocolate ganache layer. Get this. * Passion fruit mandarin sorbet: light, tart, refreshing - a great way to finish Service was friendly throughout and the pacing felt easy. Overall I'd go back for the cocktails & vibe and to actually explore the non-vegetarian menu more. Currently on Inkind if you want a discount! Parking: Hollywood meters can be tricky - I'd suggest heading south on Wilcox where you can usually find something a few blocks into the neighborhood. Or just do valet and enjoy the night.

After posting my review and pictures, I got a very nice response from the manager on Monday and then on Tuesday two very dear friends who are twins invited me to their birthday party that Friday night at the Lemon Grove where one of the sister's daughters is the DJ. We had half of the entire roof for a great party with wonderful friends meeting new people, some DJing and dancing and a marvelous server who remembered not only my name from the prior Sunday, but also that I was gluten intolerant and brought me a menu I could select from while she was taking care of over 50 people.
