Tucked away on the top floor of a pizza joint is this hidden gem! We were looking for a relaxing lounge with good music and top whiskey, we found it here. The vibe is perfect, the bartender is friendly, helpful and very knowledgeable about the drink menu. There is no wine here but the cocktails are excellent, full of flavor, and so is the whiskey. If you're looking for a hidden bar tucked away from the Hollywood chaos, give this intimate vinyl bar a shot. Located inside 800 degrees kitchen on the 2nd floor. They have a selection of vinyls that you may request to play. Me scanning through all of the vinyls to see what tune I wanted to hear...Unfortunately, not many updated music selections. However, I find it a perk that they give you a chance to pick and play whatever you're in the mood for. The bartenders were very mellow which I supposed it was matched to the ambience of the bar. Ordered the espresso martini and vibed out. I do believe they should carry more music selections with some updates to more legendary artists considering it is a vinyl bar. read more

Loved the ambience and the service was amazing. Everyone was great. It was also nice to be able to have access in and out during the show that we watched. It was not crowded at all, and there was plenty of seating throughout the night. As always, the prices for drinks were fairly high, but my boyfriend and I enjoyed ourselves nonetheless. The atmosphere here is really cool and pretty low-key, which is what I was hoping for. I liked the vintage vibe and the fact that they actually play records while you're having a drink. I walked around the entire block of Sunset and Vine, through the parking lot, just to find out that it's inside of the 800 Degrees Woodfired Kitchen. Talk about speakeasy! Staff was super friendly and helpful, and the ambiance was on point! The cocktail menu is quite extensive, I wanted to branch out, but this was just a quick stop before our concert at The Palladium. Wanted to love this place but their prices are ridiculous. They're not really welcoming customers to stay when 2 drinks each for a couple is already $100. The place has potential & I wouldn't mind spending if it was worth it, but it smells odd in there like I'm sure it's hardly been cleaned & looks so run down. I love this bar and have been a few times. The ambiance is perfect and they always allow me to choose my favorite vinyls to play. The bartender is always very attentive, nice, and goes out of his way to provide great service. The drinks he makes are amazing as well. The Midori Sour and Espresso Martini were my favorites, very well balanced and a good strength. There is also a delicious pizza place on the first floor which is very convenient after a night of drinking. I'm only giving 4 stars because they changed the glasses they use for drinks since the first few times I came. The glasses used to be a typical medium to large size cocktail glass used in most (even other high-end) bars. However, this recent time each drink came in the same small glass. The vibes inside are a bit dingy, but it's not necessarily a bad thing; it looks like an old-school Hollywood vibe. Upon opening the menu, the first thing I notice is the egregious prices of the drinks; they range on average from $20-$25. I'm sorry, but that's too much money for a drink. I wouldn't have been so salty if it came out good, but here's where the story goes extra sour. My girlfriend and I ordered the $23 Smoke and Spice mezcal drink. The bartender looked like this was his first week on the job. I know it's a hard job, but a $23 per cocktail spot should have experienced bartenders. He looked like the owner's son that they gave a job. Nice guy though. The drink was the worst I've ever had, and I'm not exaggerating. It tasted like what I imagine sweet gasoline would be like. My girlfriend concurred. I brought it back to the bar, and the other, more experienced bartender tried the drink and agreed with me that something was seriously wrong. The bartender who made my drink said he forgot the lemon and that's why it was off. I assured him that lemon could not fix that death potion. He added lemon, and I tried again. Still horrible, and arguably worse. We replaced the drinks with mezcal on the rocks, which was okay, but I think I would have been better off sending my money to a Nigerian prince who was fundraising via email to take back his rightful throne. A great little speakeasy on the second floor above the 800º restaurant, you go through the restaurant to get upstairs. There's limited space but the ambiance is fun/cozy and quite friendly. Eclectic furniture but can get cozy with with a decent size group. I went with 3 friends and it wasn't too hard to find a place to sit, but we did get one of the last 2 available tables, definitely limited seating space in the speakeasy. The drinks were delicious, I had the Keiamina (gin) and a friend had Manager's Meeting (mezcal), and they were both wonderful cocktails with well blended flavors, great balance of sweet and smokey flavors, respectively. I would highly recommend. May have a little wait if you go during peak hours, but going around 10pm wasn't too much wait. Parking was on the street, you may find some parking structures as well around, but I don't think there's dedicated free parking. read more

I am always asking bartenders what their sweetest drink is and I was told on this occasion to get the Yellow Submarine. I was pleasantly surprised by the sour notes present. I also ordered the Rhythm and Blues, and it wasn't as sweet. It had a nice note of lychee that was fruity and sweet still, but the blue curaçao was coming through rather bitter. I still enjoyed it, but I would prefer a heavier sweet note. The vibes here are chill which aligned with our goals for the evening: to be chill. I think it was my first or second ever speakeasy that I've been to. I never thought about Hollywood being a place to socialize in the evening. I've been going to S&V for awhile because I like the hidden location, record selection and drinks. My drink is $45? "Oh yah.... I should've told you... I was surprised myself. I'm new so I didn't know, sorry..... " I really should've thrown a fit right then and there and demanded my money back. Even in Hollywood, the ripoff capital, this is criminal to charge $75 for 2 drinks. It's conniving and calculated to fey ignorance because you're new on the job. I can say one thing you're not new at is manipulation. I will NEVER go back to this bar until the owner personally calls me and offers compensation. And the drink was boring. I was really looking forward to checking out this vinyl bar on a Friday evening after a show but unfortunately, it fell short in several ways. When we arrived, there was little to no music playing, surprising for a place centered around vinyl. There was a clear lack of focus on the music, which should've been the heart and soul of the experience. The vibe just didn't match the concept at all.... no "vinyl" or "sunset" feel to speak of. The cocktails on the menu were around $30, which felt overpriced, especially given that the selections (and overall bar offerings) were pretty outdated. While the owner and bartender were nice enough, the experience didn't leave me wanting to return. If the music, drinks, and overall lounge vibe were given more love and intention, I might be open to trying it again. For now, though, it just didn't deliver. Long story short, my partner and I decided after one Tequila on the rocks ($30 each) that we would not order another and head out. read more
