Mostly ok. We got there last night to rent a karaoke suite for an hour. While checking in, we saw a big poster indicating a "free snack" for two YELP check-ins. My daughter-in-law and I both checked in on YELP, and then the guy working behind the counter said it was an expired offer. I feel the need to mention again that this is a BIG poster that greets you right at the entrance. Anyway, we headed into our suite, which was fine. There was plenty of room for all of us. It was hard to figure out how to pick songs on the console, we had a hard time finding anything, then we noticed a QR code on the screen and that helped. Some of the songs we picked were completely out of sync with the lyrics and that was a HUGE bummer. We left after one hour, with tax and other fees it was about $60 all told. read more

The website wasent working when I tried to book it so I had to call with no answer but they called me back quickly. The room itself was fine. Some fun lights and a nice tv. The microphones were loud and nice quality. The song selection was very good to my surprise but was a little complicated to use. My experience at the Station Bistro in Malden was disappointing. The food was undercooked and excessively over-seasoned. Furthermore, the service was dismissive and, regrettably, blatantly racist. The atmosphere was unclean (the board of health would have a field day) and underwhelming and the staff was insulting towards my guests. What was meant to be a joyous event was tarnished by this unpleasant experience, making it a place I cannot recommend. Moreover, I spent $500 on this occasion, anticipating a delightful celebration for my sister's upcoming wedding. Instead, the evening left me feeling hurt and disappointed. The unwelcoming treatment we received seemed to carry accusations, making the entire evening very uncomfortable. Considering my experience, I wanted to share this review to let others know who may be thinking of visiting the Station Bistro in Malden. But about 80% of the pop songs we searched for were not there. When we went to settle the bill, they tried to charge us $28 on our small bottle of plum wine which was listed on their menus for $18. The way things are run needs major improvements. NO WATER IS PROVIDED. You will be charged for bringing outside food/drinks. You are also automatically charged an 18% service fee, even if you don't order anything. Additionally, my group was also overcharged for an extra 30mins even though we left our room 5 mins after our hour was up. We were not checked out immediately due to a larger group in front of us trying to split a bill 12 ways, so we had to wait 10mins before we could actually pay. The clerk blamed it on a computer/timestamp issue. It would have been nice if there was someone to let you know when time is up, and at least given us access to tap water with a pitcher and cups. I'd be fine with the service charge if it was that way, but nobody even came to check in. Searching for songs is also very difficult, even if you have multilingual people (KR/CN/JP/etc) in your group. I have been going to station KTV for a while now. There's nothing more that I look forward to then meeting up with close friends over some good old karaoke. However, after what I experienced the last time that I went which was about a week ago, I am starting to have some doubts about frequenting KTV in Malden and Chinatown. When we spoke to the person at the desk about booking a room for five of us we were told that the smaller rooms were booked. So we decided to take a bigger room and just eat the cost. When we had finished our session, I noticed that the rooms that we were eyeing when we first walked in were still open/empty. It seemed like a disingenuous attempt to upsell... I bought some drinks earlier in the night that I decided to pay separately from our bill. What I had purchased was about $50 in drinks. We didn't realize it until we were in the car, but our bill was a lot higher than we thought it would be. My friend didn't know that I had paid for the drinks that I had separately so he paid with no questions asked. It was when we started talking about the bill that we realized that we were double charged. I am very disappointed that this happened here because we like going here, and it's typically a pleasure. I would avoid it here if you're looking for karaoke options. There are awful drink options (you have to order wine by the bottle and there's no liquor / cocktails) & the staff is quite rude. We came here for my cousins bachelorette party and it wasn't even a huge group of us. They were kicking us out 2 min prior to the end of our reservation. I was explaining to them that she's the bride and loves singing but they didn't care and kept turning the lights on / pushing us out. They also kept coming in to yell at us for standing on the couch. They must watch from a camera - that one is not a huge deal because I understand. I do have to say the rooms are spacious and clean however the song selections SUCK!!!!!!!!! Me and my 2 friends walked in here knowing that it wasn't going to be busy cause it was earlier in the day. We were told that the smaller rooms were reserved so we were left with the bigger room. When we walked in, there were SO many empty rooms. When we left, they were STILL empty. Honestly, we should've been compensated back for the difference because we could've used those rooms for a much lower price. Reservations were pretty straightforward and it seemed like we were in for a great night. We were told to book a more expensive medium room because the small rooms were booked up. When we got there, the place was empty. There were barely any english songs, most were in cantonese and the system kept breaking on us. Despite this, They charged us 300 bucks which included the time it took them to get ready and then they told us our time was up 15 minutes before our time was up! There are better places out there. i have been missing karaoke rooms since my favorite place went out of business to become condos (r.i.p. do re mi) and then my backup place... also went out of business to become condos. i got a small room for $48 an hour for 7 of us which felt very reasonable! i booked in advance for my birthday, which i think i will always do since the reviews make it seem like coming in and just hoping for the best doesn't necessarily work. there is a pre-set service fee, which meant the total cost for just over 3 hours was $157 for 7, or ~$23/person, which compared to other karaoke rooms i have been to does not feel exorbitant. we didn't buy any food, just waters, and that was easy enough. i do wish we could have had our own water bottles but it sort of felt like we would have been watched on a camera and charged. we weren't there for alcohol or food so maybe that would have changed our experiences? the person setting us up with the room didn't give a lot of orientation, but with some trial and error, we figured it out. essentially if you search by letter, you can only use one letter and have to scroll. there is another setting--i should have taken pictures!--where you can spell more (everything is not spelled exactly right) and find your songs directly. you also have to switch between searching by song and by artist, which is not particularly intuitive to figure out how to do. at first the selection seemed terrible and then without trying we had like 50 songs selected because there were so many things we all wanted to sing! we could have easily added dozens more but we are old and needed to go home and sleep. skipping songs and changing mic/background music volume was easy which was helpful. the videos are a mix of classic karaoke room early 90s camcorder mess and the actual original videos! i want to go here all the time now. read more

This place was the most grossley racist Karoke facility I have ever been to. I went here for my birthday and immeditely walking in with a group of black people the woman at the desk was disinterested and rude. Following check in, trying to forget thet errible serivce, we began having a good time in our room for the three hours we paid for - within 2 hours and 15 mins they cut off the music without warning and when asked why they stated they must close by one, to which i asked why they wouldnt just inform us of this. Depsite this, I tried to keep calm and we exited quickly. Upon exit we noticed other gorups leaving as well, when we went up to pay we observed ONLY our room being checked for "damages" and the empployee coming out with a broken mic piece we had quiet literally never seen. When attempting to tell the woman we never saw that mic piece and it must have been broken before entering the room, the women quiet literally "shhh'd" me - I even clarifed that she did that and because I did not want to go to jail on my day of birth I exited the facility and let my friend handle the rest. I then came back in to physcially write a review to be filed, which I am certain she did not file. THIS PLACE IS RACIST, THEY HAVE TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. I didn't even get into the way she yanked the card reader out of my friend hands when i told her we would not be paying for wahatever she was trying to say was damaged. Do not go here. read more

I finally found another KTV for Cantonese songs in the Boston area. Rooms were renovated since the old place closed down and were really clean. They have happy hour from 12-8pm and prices are very reasonable but drinks are not included. Great private karaoke rooms, attentive staff. Terrible food but that's not why you're there.

First time I've been here and probably the last time, unless everyone wants to go (I ain't paying or being a party pooper). The room we were placed in had three microphones, but unfortunately the third mic wasn't working due to 'technical issues'. The 'waitress' and 'manager' tried to fix the mic, takes it away, and never tells us its broken. It is sad that they can't provide another wireless microphone from a different unused room. I would recommend the owner to hire staff with more technical skills and who can communicate with a little more respect. Our room was $40 per hour. If you have a party of at least six people, expect to pay an unnecessary 15% tip automatically. I wish I can charge them back for tip because they do not deserve a cent for their service. Also, they do not provide water so you will be forcefully charged for almost $4 per bottle and no outside drinks are allowed. The room itself is fairly clean with light controls and a computer touchscreen to control the song list. The songs we wanted to sing were available, so five stars to who ever created to the system. There was plenty of seating with the long bench seat and extra stools/ottomans for your crew to huddle up. Overall, the staff ruined the experience for me, but the room and karaoke system is good. If you come here and can't read Chinese, please download the app (KTVme). Makes the song picking process so much easier. They have songs in English, mandarin, Korean, Spanish, Japanese, and maybe even others. Lyrics will be in language of the song though. Food and drinks are overpriced of course and the walls are thin so people outside the rooms can definitely hear you if that bothers you. We went during happy hour so prices per hour for the rooms are about half. The people working there say that they wouldn't tell us when our two hours were up so if we accidentally go a few minutes over, we'd be charged for 3. We set a timer to avoid it, but knowing that kinda rubbed me the wrong way. read more

This is going to be short and not so sweet. My friends and I love karaoke. We are outgoing, loud and we definitely think we sound like Grammy winning artists so it was REALLY DISAPPOINTING when we came to station KTV - Malden and had the absolute worst experience we have ever had at a karaoke bar. From the moment we walked in we were hit with rules. No outside drinks (a diet coke for a friend who was not drinking alcohol), not outside food (even though they serve no food other than bags of chips) and everything thing you do in your room is watched on camera. We were the ONLY PEOPLE THERE so the staff legitimately watched our camera and monitored everything we did. A friend of mine grabbed two french fries out of her bag, yes two fries, not the box or bag or container, but two fries, and they swung open the door to yell at us. Another friend stood on his chair while singing, BAM! The door opens again to yell at us. Another friend was sitting on the table to use the screen to select songs, and then the door swings open again to tell us you can't sit on the table. Now there is no chair in front of the screen to sit on while using it, so there is no option but to stand and bend down every time you wanted to put a song on... which took 5 minutes every time you wanted to select a song because they have a HORRIBLE AND MINIMAL song selection and the system is NOT USER FRIENDLY AT ALL!! After being bothered every 10-15 minutes by the staff we decided we couldn't deal with it anymore and decided to leave. Now we had the room booked for 2 hours, and we ended up stay about 4 hours, which is fine because again no one was there. When we went to pay our bill (all of our drinks were bought separately) the room fee was over $200!!!!!!!!!!!! The staff came in to bother us over and over and over but shockingly they never came in to tell us we had gone over our time, or what the cost would be if we stayed longer so they basically run a scam to let you stay longer and charge you double!! It was a disgrace and such horrible ethics to yell at your customers for every little thing they do, watch them on camera the entire time to are trying to enjoy themselves and not say one word about doubling the cost of the rental. REVIEW applies for both Chinatown and Malden locations: rooms get warm fast, so expect to have to call an attendant in to change the thermostat. Food and beer selections are good and the price is reasonable, but honestly, you're going for karaoke right? Happy hour karaoke prices are some of the best in town and even prime hours, it's not too bat. However, If you're looking to sing in any other language that Mandarin/Cantonese, it's going to be hard to stretch your time out to more than an hour's worth of songs (note: that's an hour's worth of songs, as simply finding your song will be your bottleneck). Their song system is the worse. Seriously. You either have to stand at the monitor swiping through the entire artist list TWICE (because for some reason it's inconsistently and arbitrarily divided into singles and groups) or use their broken app which is available only for iPhones.. In the case of the former, good luck because even using a letter search will get you very little and in the case of the latter, be sure to bring a phone charger because much of your app searching will be filled with app crashes (assuming the app is even functioning). Once you've run through the first few artists that are immediately visible on the screen, you're pretty much done. Come once, book for an hour, but there's no need to go back unless you want to sing the same 4-5 songs over and over. read more

Came in with a group and booked a 3hr slot. Once we got there we were greated with the need to have an ID and credit card. Was not told this when we came in to book the reservation. Once in the room we were handed a sheet to sign and the women left us in the room. Everything was in Chinese on the screens. We were not shown how to use the microphone or change the music. When we asked the women was annoyed and changed the screen to English. The karaoke selections are slim for American artists, English or Spanish speaking artists. We also were told we had to keep our 3 hr block and could not leave early. Since we could only entertain ourselves for a 1hr we asked to leave. This is when we found out its 20 hr and charged by the minute after. Customer service is everything for a place like this and it's not there. You are not allowed to have fun. It's like you are being watched by big brother since they watch your room like it and on view for everyone walking in on big screen TVs at the desk. I had a water and was told I couldn't have it. My friends and I went here last night (a Sunday night) having called for a 2-hour reservation that started at 8:30PM. When we first walked in, we had McDonalds large drinks in hand and take out in our bags to eat later. We were informed that outside drinks were not allowed so they took our (non-alcoholic) diet cokes from us. Fine, I suppose we understood that they wanted to make money off of us ordering off their menu. When we start off our reservation, a friend of mine simply reached into her purse to snack on 2 (count that, TWO) french fries. She did not take it out of her purse to begin eating it on the table. An employee promptly walked in to let her know she could not eat outside food either. We realized there are cameras in all the rooms at that point. When my friend started singing, he had stepped up on the couch momentarily. Not even 5 seconds later, an employee came in to let him know he could not do that either. About an hour or so later, after I had been sitting on the table where the song selection screen was (after many of us had been doing this all night), we were THEN told we also could not sit on the table. We could not believe how many rules and the lengths they were going to in order to let us know we could not do multiple things that evening. We were also the ONLY PEOPLE IN THE ESTABLISHMENT. It seemed as though the staff was either in a bad mood or just strict AF. We had realized that it had been more than 2 hours (in fact, we had hit 4) and went to leave. We were extremely upset at the fact that this staff had ZERO PROBLEM walking into our room multiple....MULTIPLE times to let us know of the things we could not do, however they clearly were conniving in the fact that they could not walk in after our original 2-hour reservation to let us know time was up and to ask if we wanted to keep going. Instead they let us go to 4-hours which results in a $200 bill. It was very clear what they were trying to do which seems completely unethical or, at the very least, evident of lack of morals. Moreover, their song choices are few and far between in terms of English songs. This is definitely catered more to foreign songs, likely Chinese, Korean, and/or Japanese. The lack of proper functionality of the song selection screen was appalling. You would try to search an artist, let's say Lady Gaga, by typing in the letters and you could not find it. However, if you scroll through the "overseas artists" you are able to find it that way...you just have to scroll till your finger tips want to bleed. I am an avid karaoke-venue goer (hi, i'm an Asian who grew up in Asia) and I strongly...nay, VEHEMENTLY do not recommend this venue to anyone. You are far better off at Limelight Studios in Boston. While the hourly rate is slightly more expensive, I promise you it will be worth it in terms of the friendly staff, proper approach to service, and moreover, their much more extensive song selection. This is a convenient karaoke place in Malden! The equipment in each room is pretty good, but I would say that it still lacks the most up to date songs. However, it's still a fun place to go. The smallest room holds up to 8 people (but I personally think 8 people in a small room is a bit crowded). I was following my Chinese friends to come to this place for his birthday party. I heard do about karaoke before, but that was my first time. This was soooooooo fun. I was surprised that the system has so many songs which I think I would never get bored. Picking songs from WeChat is cool, as well as projecting pictures through phone to screen. Good Place for people who love singing I went to the store many times before even the store was named as 1986. Now the It has another owner and the name is Station KTV. It seems that it is a branch store. I visited my friend and came to this store again after a long long time. The service was much better than the last store. It is clean and beautiful with the laser lights on. The biggest reason i love this KTV is the location. It is right behind my friend's apartment. very nice. This KTV place is new and recently open. We got the small room which allow 8 people max. Nice furnitures and lightning setup, good quality speakers. There is a mini stage with old fashioned standing mic on the side or end of the room. If you are a stage performer or enjoy performing , this is good for you. The foods/ drinks are pricey.
