I used to go to Station Tap often because it has a nice and chilled ambiance, especially during the Spring/Summer time. Walking distance from my house. My daughters and I came here earlier for the Super Bowl. We sat down anywhere because it wasn't packed. I ordered the drinks at the bar and the server was going to bring us the drinks at our table. She gave us our menus. When she dropped off our drinks, I already knew what I wanted to order. Maybe she's new because I never saw her there before. Then again, it has been awhile since I've been to this establishment. She seems very irritated and in a rush. That surely set the mood for the evening. Calamari (3.5/5) Cheesesteak rolls (3.5/5) Fries (4.5/5) Brussels sprouts (0/5) tasted like it was boiled or steamed for too long. Then sprinkled with packaged Parmesan cheese & days old bacon and call it a day. The reason I'm giving it 3 stars instead of 0 is because they did take the Brussels sprouts off the bill. Walked in found a table. The server came over and introduced herself and brought menus. She came back shortly and took our order. She then went back to her cell phone. I even passed her on the way to the restroom and she still did not get our beverages. The bartender was so engrossed her conversation was jet she did not pour our beers as well. Eventually they both remembered and brought out the beverage. Our food arrived shortly thereafter. The Parmesan wings had a gross amount of Parmesan heaped on them. The wings did not look thoroughly cooked. We gave them a try and they were tough and barely done, not edible. When I looked up our server was too engrossed in a conversation to notice the dissatisfaction. On a positive note, nachos were great. I ordered two of my favorite items: nachos and garlic parm wings. With nachos it is all about the cheese and their homemade queso was creamy and tasty. The wings were loaded with Parmesan cheese and garlic. Portions were good that I had leftovers. Had the lemonade and it was good as well. I know, lemonade is lemonade but it was different from the norm and good enough for me to highlight. Service was great as well. My server gave me recommendations and food reviews for my selections. This is a great size for something in the neighborhood. This is a good location with great beer and food choices. My server was attentive and informative. It was a guy however the chics waiting to start their shift based on their conversation lack polish and way too interested in social media!! On the chalkboard there were items of of the day I choose, The Ferne Boulevard Burger, it was delicious. The bun was large but soft and no competition for the burger. The place is small but there are three garage doors which open up in the spring, summer and fall which help increase the space a ton. The inside was cool and had a nice cool vibe. Started with the chicken nachos. They were amazing. I love the cheese sauce and plenty of chicken. There were raw onion which is unique. Kid had chicken tenders and fries. There was some kick to it so he didn't eat them. Afterwards I heard you can ask for zero kick so I'll try that next time as I rather not feed him before going out to eat. Hubby had the mussels which he loved. The portion was HUGE. He said he could have it once a week so I know he loved them. He also ordered (which were took to go) the burger w/crab cake. Ok so I have always tried to give this establishment the benefit of the doubt. We would always head here while our kid was in karate around the corner. So we would order beers like we always do. I have to say the service is not the fastest or friendliest. Recently went and our bartender was on her phone the entire time. Now I sat at the bar, got our drinks and back to her phone. Asked if we wanted food gave us a menu, we knew what we wanted and still just sat there for like 10 minutes. The place was dead to mind you. Food was ok, it's always a hit or miss with this place. Sometimes the tenders for our kid were over cooked, or the wings weren't sauced and seasoned enough. The feel of the place is great, love the look, but damn you would think with the look and locations they could hit on all cylinders but unfortunately they don't. On date night last Thursday, we headed down to our favorite spot-- Streetlight Kitchen & Bar. But the patio was closed due to rain, and we are still pretty nervous about indoor dining. So, we took a chance on Station Tap instead. When we pulled up, we were pleasantly surprised to see that there were many available outdoor tables, and that the restaurant windows were all open, making for an inviting space with great air flow. The service was truly excellent-- our waitress was clearly a pro and was able to memorize our food and drink orders, keep our beverages refreshed, and check up on us a reasonable number of times in spite of tending to a half dozen tables by herself. I wish I'd gotten her name, but she deserves a raise! Or at least a big tip from every customer. As for the food, we really REALLY enjoyed the fried pickles, parmesan-garlic wings, and fries. The brussel sprouts were pretty good but I felt that they could have been cooked much longer or cut into small pieces to speed up the cook time, as there was no color or caramelization on them at all. But they were edible enough and the bacon that topped them was well-prepared and generously portioned. The grilled chicken caesar salad was also pretty good, but the croutons seemed to be deep-fried (like everything else we ordered lol) and ended up absorbing a ton of the fryer oil, so I left those on the plate. Lastly, we had a couple west end ciders and really liked them. So, while the food was hit or miss, it was still satisfying overall and the pleasant environment, excellent service, and fair prices made up for any shortcomings. A few years ago I had a bad experience here. We went tonight and all is well. Bartender Matt rules, good Old Fashion and Manhattan. Tap IPA was fresh. Buffalo Shrimp tacos were spicy and delicious. Yikes LOUD and LOUDER This place was sooo LOUD from the minute I walked in the door. They have a nice selection of beers and other interesting drinks. I do think the drink prices are a bit steep. The food that was coming from the kitchen looked and smelled good, mostly standard bar food. Unfortunately it was way too loud for me. Many people shouting talk just to hear themselves. I would not recommend this place for going on a date, not romantic nor will you be able to carry on a conversation. Nor for families with young children. If I lived closer to the Drexel Hill area I would come here religiously! Found Station Tap on Yelp when I was looking for a place to go in between a wedding ceremony and the venue. Since we had two hours to kill we figured we would come here for some drinks and appetizers. When we arrived we were one of the only people in the place. I was extremely surprised considering it has an outdoor area and it was perfect drinking weather. I came with six people so we decided on splitting an order of the cheesesteak egg rolls, hummus plate, and the nachos. I loved the hummus plate! So, so good. Tasted home made almost. The cheesesteak egg rolls were great as well! So much that the people I was with ordered another order of them. They have plenty of beers available and cocktail specials as well. My bf was hungry so I told him about this bar and how it's nice and the food looks really good. So he called and ordered. When he got someone on the phone, he started of saying, "hey how are". The guy on the other line said "wassup" then my bf places the order getting calamari, a veggie burger, and a salad for $31.50. He went to go pick it up so I never got to experience the inside or the people so I'll add a extra start for that... I just wanna talk about this food man ‍ The calamari is maybe one of the nastiest imitation calamari that they could find. It taste like it was microwaved. One you got passed all the EXTRA ASS breading, you can really taste the rubber. They try to dress it up with Prego Marinara sauce, but it doesn't work. The Caesar salad, honestly wasn't gross it was just warm, and wet, which I guess is gross, who eats warm wet salad. The buttermilk dressing was cool, BUT them croutons , they must've made those out of the oldest, stalest bread that they could find, doused it in the oil that they used when they first opened, then put them in the oven it was just CAPITAL NASTY. The last thing we got was the veggie burger...... I'm just gonna say it was nasty. It looks great, but we all know looks are deceiving. Everything on that burgers, was gross the roasted vegetables on top were gross, and the consistency of the whole burger is just a turn off, it's wayyy to mushy, like someone already chewed for you. To make the experience more unsatisfying , the burger was paired with some cold ass saltless fries that McDonald's didn't want anymore. All this for $31.50. I used to love Station Tap. I received a gift card in January of this year. Went and used half, had around $75 left on the gift card. Apparently now they switched owners and can't accept gift cards anymore. This is really not a good business practice. I am disappointed and will probably never go back here again. The food is just okay--at least what I tried, which was the cheesesteak egg rolls, a burger, and fries. The server was nice, helpful, and attendant the entire time, which added to the experience.
