The worst corned beef hash I've ever had. It was more potatoes than corned beef. I didn't even taste corned beef. I ordered over medium eggs, which means the whites are cooked and yellow is runny. They were light over easy. Bacon was very limp and not cooked all the way. Service was great people were extra nice though. I was a lead breakfast cook for 5, so I know my stuff. They were busy, but the cook needs to make sure he cooks the food right. This is the first restaurant review I've ever given read more

Finally able to stop in for breakfast. As others have mentioned it is a tiny place so plan accordingly. The wait staff was helpful with menu options and such. The food was as expected - fresh made and wonderful. The price was good and the coffee excellent. It was a tad noisy in the space which cause our server to not hear our order requests but it wasn't a big deal. We did have to ask for more coffee more than once. I'll definitely revisit and try some other menu options. read more

Well, diners might just be one of my favorite things, especially when your able to cozy up to the counter. Stav's was right on point. Staff, coffee, conversation, and a terrific breakfast. Nice little hidden gem here. Great breakfast spot but it's really small and can be hard to get in but it is well worth the wait. Nice selection of breakfast items on the menu and the portions are nice sized for the price. The staff was very attentive to our needs and we had no complaints whatsoever. Stav seems to be a wonderful person! Charlie too - they make this diner-in-a-strip quite a cozy folksy place. It's the kind of place where people know each other, joke around, and inquire about elderly friends' health. Even the mailman is in on the "family feel." This is a quaint, clean diner with Stav himself at the back counter griddle. Just good hot, fast diner food at its best. Oldies playing overhead and both customers AND Stav singing along in little snippets. The French toast was excellent....actually deliciously crisp on the outside and a fully cooked creamy on the inside. Decent diner coffee and expertly cooked eggs. Pancakes were good - just not the star of my plate. Homemade baklava had a shelf of honor behind the cash register. Apparently, the tip for eggs is low and slow :) read more

I came here on a Wednesday morning with my boyfriend, friend and 1.5 year old son. Everyone was extremely friendly and the food was fantastic. Came for breakfast on Saturday about 9am. The parking lot was filled and upon entrance it's very small. There is a large wrap-around bar that can probably seat 15 people. There were about 5 tables that seat 2 each and a table on left when you walk in that can seat 4-5 people. Definitely has the old school diner look and feel to it. Staff was nice and pleasant. Menu pretty basic. It will cost you $8 for 2 eggs, breakfast meat, hash browns and toast. It did take a while for the food to come out (over 20 minutes) and it seems the people at bar are served first. We had already ordered and a couple came in after we ordered and by time we received our food they had already ate and paid and were walking out. Food was pretty good. Plan for about 45mins-hour on weekend for table time or for fast service definitely do take-out. read more

I gave it one star for my most recent visit. Don't get me wrong, I love this place. Everyone has been friendly and attentive. The food is always fresh and tasty. The diner is always clean. This last visit upset me and I honestly wasn't sure if I'd right this review but I feel like that's the only way this will get any attention. I went in one day on my break to get breakfast to go. I sat by the door waiting for my order and people watched (not the people eating that's rude). At some point quite a few people came to the register at once to pay. Once they were all taken care of one of the waitresses began to count out the drawer. It seemed like she licked about 15 of her fingers to separate the bills. TWICE I watched her lick her fingers as she did this and sneezed a couple of times as well. My face at the time . I looked at the two people eating their breakfast on either side of the register they seemed to not be bothered. If you've been in Stav's you know there are seats right by the register so I thought that was pretty inconsiderate of her. Once she was done counting the money she starts walking towards the back. Thinking that she's going to wash her hands before she does anything else. She doesn't! There are a couple of plates on the counter waiting to be served. She stops and picks up some butters and drops them right on the plates and serves the people their food with those same nasty ass fingers. On the way back she still didn't stop to wash her hands. I should have said something then and there absolutely. I was just very shocked by what I saw. Because my food was packed by the owner I just grabbed it and left. She asked if I wanted forks or anything. I kept saying no. I honestly couldn't even enjoy my food once I got it. I barely ate. I've never seen anything like it. Stav's has always been pretty great. When we want home cooked breakfast that's where we go but that experience had my stomach so turned I'm not sure I'll be back. read more

Amazing food and atmosphere! We were seated for less than 30 seconds when asked for our drinks. Our waitress was amazing and very friendly which was amazing considering how busy they were. Waiting outside was the only negative but it's a very small venue. The French toast was amazing definitely worth the upgrade to challa bread!!! The waitresses were all SO nice and friendly, and helped us choose what to eat so we could try a little of everything. Challah French toast was best FT I've ever eaten. This has now moved up to my favorite diner in Columbus. So good. What's better than having a handsome guy cook you breakfast. Nothing. Stav is charming, great at what he does and so sincere. He greeted everyone as they walked in the door while he was cooking. Charlie is wonderfully awesome also. I had the special omelette which was delicious. This place was pretty good, but definitely only works for small groups. There were no more than 10 tables, and I don't think any fit more than 2 people, plus counter seating around the grill area. The breakfast menu was simple but complete, with many options for a la carte items as well. Eggs, breakfast meats, toast, pancakes, and French toast were the staples, with a few sides as well. Lunch is also served here, with several sandwiches among the offerings. Everything was good and clearly made in-house. It took a little while to get our food but the place was busy as it was Sunday, and the staff is just a few folks so you'll have that. Everything was hot and fresh when it arrived and the server and hostess were both friendly and helpful. You pay on the way out. This is a small, family-owned diner with classic food. read more

As I and my husband have recently relocated to the C-Bus area, we found this "Gem" of a diner!!! As we at First approached a neighboring restaurant chain business that didn't appeal to us we went on to searching nearby for a more satisfying experience, and discovered Stav's Diner!!! If you are looking for an American classic experience you will find it here:) along with ,(at least for me ), a serene atmosphere , with all the pleasing points of an old school diner from days gone by. I being originally a Jersey girl and a long history in the food industry, this establishment won me over:) My honest opinion, if this establishment has not been as yet on "Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives" it most definitely should be =) A must check it out for yourself! read more

Wow, great place. Absolutely loved this place. Totally listen to those reviews that recommends small groups. This place is crazy small but so worth it. Just a hand full of two person tables and a counter to take care of guests. Pandora on the overhead speakers and tv. Staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming. Customer service here is amazing. For the grub, this visit I had the French toast with bacon and a side of hash browns. The bacon was literally grease free with a rich flavor. The strips were super flat and very crispy. If you're a fan of the soggy, floppy bacon, this isn't for you. The French toast was quite literally maybe the best I've had. I had the normal toast, they have an option to replace with fresh challah bread. I wanted to start with the basic. Light and fluffy and great flavor. The texture I want to say was creamy. When you took a bite it literally just melted in your mouth. I always go with butter and syrup on mine. The butter is in little packets that are at room temperature so it's nice and gooey when you get into it and perfect for spreading. They give you two packets, one was just right for me. The syrup is in a metal canister. The lid is a little difficult to use and I ended up with well more syrup than I had planned. So watch out for that. The hash browns had a nice crispy top and warm and squishy center to bottom. Just a hint of salt and perfect as is, so I didn't add any seasoning of my own. They give you a nice serving, so I was more than satisfied. Husband had the veggie omelet which he liked. He's a man of few words, this was all I could out of him. Overall fantastic experience. Two forks up, absolutely recommend to anyone. (Unless you're in a super huge group, don't do that to yourself). read more

This place is everything you want in a diner and nothing you don't. Solidly awesome breakfast and lunch menu, made to order, fast friendly service and people who seem genuinely glad to have you there. This place is no-nonsense and about as unpretentious as you can get, a welcome change from the uppity exclusive vibe that seems to characterize so many Columbus restaurants these days. I've now tried both the chocolate chip pancakes conglomeration, and their made-up Charlie omelet. Giant pancakes, and they pour them perfectly round. Classic talent, haha. The omelet has been the stand-out, tho. Spinach, mushroom and Swiss cheese. I added grilled chicken for protein. Mmmmm! And SO big! Three eggs make up the hearty dish. A year ago I would have given 5 stars to the new independent owner. Multiple visits later the shine has worn off. Service and cleanliness is top notch. The food has gotten a bit more loose and rushed. It's unfair unless I back it up. Pancakes got smaller and thinner. Blueberries are less. Omelette undercooked yolk, sent back and fixed. Oil Oil Oil Watch the amount of oil added to so much. Oil on the griddle, lay out bacon, reapply more oil. This brings me to the meats. Food handling. Par cooked food would be better if you're not changing gloves. I see no acceptable reason why gloves that touch raw meat should stack pancakes or touch toast/sandwiches. The same can be said about the kitchen assistant that did the same stuff on the same cutting board. I understand it's minimal seating and a line waiting. The kitchen is moving too fast. In the beginning it was less busy, more banter, and more love in the food. It's a great place. Just slow down again and cook with that same love. read more

Stav's hashbrowns are the best ever anywhere any time hands-down. The Stav Stacker or Challah French toast from your kitchen will never be better than what Stav and Company will serve you.
