My wife and I stopped by Stav's diner today after googling "best biscuits and gravy in Columbus" and we definitely agree! You immediately feel like family when you walk through the doors. They had pandora music playing on a TV and everyone welcomes you in. We chose to sit at the bar, but there are a few tables. I can definitely see this place getting busy and having a long wait... so make sure you are prepared for that! Stav cooks everything himself and takes the time to get to know you while he does it! There are so many friendly faces behind the bar. The other person helping with the food was recommending a chili that he personally made and it warmed my heart to see the excitement on his face when people were trying it! My wife was going to order the biscuits and gravy and a side of eggs, but the waitress recommended the "stacker". The stacker came with hash browns, eggs, cheese, biscuits and gravy all together! I ordered an omelet with spinach, cheese, and bacon. We also ordered coffee. The staff made sure we had fresh coffee and plenty of creamer the entire time! I never once felt like an inconvenience for asking for anything! I will definitely be back for the French toast after seeing it made for another customer! Overall, disappointed. They were out of a lot of the things I wanted for breakfast which steered me in a lunch direction. Ordered a burger and their lemon orzo soup (can't remember the actual name of it right now). Started with the soup and it was DELICIOUS!!!! No salt or pepper needed, the lemon really popped, orzo was well cooked and it too soggy and a decent amount of meat even in my ridiculously small $4 container. Then we get to the burger. I stayed in the store to watch them cook because I like watching line cooks work. Here is where the disappointment truly began, a burger patty taken out of the fridge/freezer added to the grill with no seasoning. A piece of cheese was put on with my bacon and it was topped with lettuce and tomato. Didn't notice there were no condiments until I left and it was too late so that was step one of being dry. Patty was slightly overdone and not seasoned. Last step was that I paid the $2+ upgrade for onion rings and I got 8 onion rings. And not the "this is as gin as my Palm" onion rings, the normal if not some were small onion rings. The flavor was ok, but again frozen not home made so I could have just fried some when I got home. In summary, I went to this place because it looked like a quaint diner where I thought things would be homemade and it wasn't. I would be ok with frozen items if they were done right but the size to price ratio just makes me want to stay home next time :-/ read more

Each borough of Columbus has their own "go to" places. Bexley has Stav's Diner. Behind the facade of a strip mall, there is a a small diner that has to be experienced. Not only do you get one of the best diners in Columbus, you also get a show ( i suggest you get a counter seat.). This is one of those places that the waitresses will reach over, around, besides, to grab something and put their free hand on your shoulder or back , saying "excuse me honey" and with that, they make you feel at home. This is not, however, you want to spend hours at. It's small, and treasures like this need to be shared. Highly recommend this place! read more

It's a very small diner and it's not made for large groups. It has a bar and a few two and four tops. Our waitress was very friendly and efficient. You could order breakfast or lunch. I've driven past Stav's a countless number of times since moving near its neighborhood a year ago. It wasn't until recently that I realized that there was a diner there (saw a sign they had outside pointing to the diner.) Finally tried it out for brunch on Sunday and was pleasantly surprised! We arrived at the diner around noon and was seated right away. The waitress quickly came to the table to offer coffee and to take our order. After about 10 minutes, the food came out hot and tasted delicious. The coffee was even great and I am not much of a coffee drinker. All the staff encountered were also pleasant and checkout at the counter was a breeze. I will definitely return to Stav's again whenever I am in need of a tasty breakfast or lunch served up quickly. read more

ALWAYS crowded so get there early. They get you in and out though, so it's not a bad wait. There usually some counter seats where they can seat you too. Everything I've had has been very good. Love their corned beef and hash! I understand the no takeout on Sunday morning rule for just "take out", but I actually ate inside and they wouldn't let me also get a carry out order. We came here strictly because of the gyro omelette. This is a tiny, midwestern, homey diner. Someone else described it as "cheers without beer" -- so accurate. The maximum seating at a table is 3...there is a counter that you can sit at. But I recommend only coming with a party of 3 or fewer. They do get you in quick if there is a line. We got there shortly before 11 and waited about 10 mins for a party of 2. There is parking on site -- most likely you'll have to park in the back The service is impeccable!! The only complaint my boyfriend had was that the meat in the omelette wasn't even through out. He would've also added tomatoes and onion (and mayyybe tzatziki sauce on the side). The GEF was so good! I ordered with an over easy egg and added onion and tzatziki sauce on the side -- I highly recommend this!! Amir and I, woke up at 8 am and decided to head to Stav's diner. Unlike Amir this was my first time at Stav's. The food here is GREAT.. amazing actually. Everything was straight off the grill. The diner itself is very, small. We were literally only a couple feet away from the people at the diner bar, which made our meal a lil less intimate, but that's ok because the food made up for it. SEVEN WORDS: Upscale Diner / Good Grub / A Smidge Pricey. So...this was actually an off-ramp trip - where we'd planned to go one place, but ended in another. Lucky Us! Went on a weekday mid-morning, so the place was empty. After speaking to the cook about his "Spam Special", I ordered it. The sandwich came out in about 7-8 minutes (normal fast), while the hash browns took an extra five minutes or so - and came out separately. The Special was basically a breakfast sandwich with eggs, cheese, and SPAM tucked into a biscuit. All parts of the whole were FANTASTIC! The SPAM was partly carmelized, the eggs tasted like milk or sour cream had been added before scrambling, and the buscuits were just as light and fluffly. I gobbled it down and as the hash browns came out, they were crispy on the outside and I gobbled them down, washing it all down with a small glass of milk. My breakfast partner had a basic plate and she enjoyed it, too. Our bill total came to 20 and change - which seems a little steep for a single drink and two basic breakfast plates. You HAVE to get the challah French toast. It was absolutely delicious. The biscuits and gravy were bomb also. They use sausage gravy and it was very flavorful. I could have drank the coffee black too, it wasn't super strong or bitter, just right. :) It's small inside so I wouldn't have more than 2-3 people per group. Watching the guy make all the food super quick was amazing. It's VERY clean in there and the staff is very friendly. :) We didn't plan to stop here on our way through Columbus, but we will next time we're back!! read more

Stav's is located next to the Panera Bread on Broad St. Parking is limited up front so I had to park in the back. The inside is pretty small, with maybe 6 tables or so and then a countertop with barstools. We went at 10 am on a Saturday and there was no wait but as we were leaving we saw a small line. Be aware that there might be a line since the restaurant is so small. There is only one cook for the restaurant but we didn't have to wait too long for our food despite the restaurant being full. Our waitress was very friendly. One thing to be aware of is that they don't do 'to-go' orders. The waitress explained the reason to me though I didn't quite understand, but just wanted to make others aware. For my meal I ordered the gyro omelette (gyro meat, onions, feta cheese) with no onions and it was SO good! My only wish is that there was a bit more gyro meat inside. Regardless though, the meat was super flavorful and I've never had feta in an omelette but I thoroughly enjoyed it! read more

I am not sure how I missed this place before since I live nearby, but it has instantly become a new favorite. The food was exactly to order and delicious. Who knew that some eggs, bacon, toast, and hash browns are so much better than others? Well, Stav did apparently! I will never go back to regular toast after having the Challah toast. The coffee was great too. The staff were friendly and worked together like a well-oiled machine. The peach pie I took home was just wonderful too. One of my places to grab breakfast! It is a popular spot so coming early or weekdays would probably be best because there is very limited seated and parking. It is a diner style restaurant with a few tables and bar seating. Not the best for groups. I've had pancakes, french toast, biscuits and gravy, and the blte sandwich and they have all been great!! We love Stav's! What's not to love?! The eggs and omelets are fluffy, the hash browns are SO CRISPY and the pancakes and French toast are the BEST I've ever had. Truly.
