Some of my High School Senior classmates and I had lunch here Saturday. Our server, Amy, was wonderful. Fifteen women taking in the bar area, and she handled it like a pro. The drinks were good. My husband and I went on a whim one Saturday. Service was slow. No one greeted us for about 15 mins. Took over 45 mins to get our food. Now, softshell crab was FANTASTIC!!!! The fried oyster salad was really good, but I was not a fan of the gumbo. It was so hot I could barely eat it and had some type of seasoning that didn't seem to belong. We went for a work lunch with about 8 people. The service was decent considering and we were finished in about an hour and a half so not too bad on timing for the work day. I wish I would have tried the soft shell crab special. May need to go back for that. Overall it's a cute neighborhood spot. read more

I went there with family recently and we found the food flavorless and overpriced. Of everything we ordered, the only dish that had any flavor was the chargrilled oysters...because it is hard to mess up butter, garlic and parm. NOTHING was seasoned. Not the onion rings. Not the dipping sauce they provided with it. And especially not the crabmeat cream sauce on the eggplant appetizer. Not only was it not seasoned, it wasn't even cooked properly. Made a reservation one week ago for 16 people for my moms 90th birthday. Owner told me he would put us in the lounge area so we would be private cuz the party room was already booked. I agreed. Got their last night and the owner says there was a mix up and he was putting us in the private room with another party of 25. That was the first issue. Took 15 mins to ask my son and I if we wanted a drink cuz we got there 10 mins early. As my party started arriving no one asked if we wanted something to drink for 30 mins in the meantime the other party of 25 is getting waited on and so is the party of 50 in the lounge where we were supposed to be. Drinks came out very slow after my daughter in law talked to the owner. Finally after being there about hr waiter asked if we wanted appetizers. We ordered and then the food was coming out but not at same time probably over 30 mins. We then ordered the entrees which came out the same way. Some people finished eating before others received their food. Everyone in the restaurant was catered to but us. We felt like the after thought. He should have brought in more help. On top of all that the food was not very good. I called the owner today and expressed my feelings and he apologized by telling me that a party of 25 showed up and said they had a reservation but he didn't know anything about it and he's the only one that does reservations. So he took them which he said he should have turned them away and later one of the men at the party said she didn't make a reservation. Also he said he didn't realize about the xmas party in the lounge for 50 that comes every year when he and I spoke to make reservation. So for that my family was screwed over and given the worst service area. I am not one to complain but this ruined my mom's 90th party cuz everyone was complaining to me. I am really upset about the whole situation especially after I told him on phone how important this night was for my mom. read more

I found this spot in walking distance of the hotel I was staying at and decided to give it a try despite mixed reviews. Very happy I did! It's cute and quaint and very inviting. I'm writing this review quite some time after visiting so I don't remember the exact day I went, but they had live music and happy hour and it was a great touch! My server was prompt in greeting me and providing suggestions. She also made a meannn Long Island iced tea. The food was fresh and SO yummy! I devoured the gumbo and I am finally a gumbo girl. It's never been my thing but I now love it. I ordered a brownie for dessert and it was good but the menu stated it had walnuts and there were none in mine--only complaint. read more

The ambiance was quiet and comfortable given that it was empty at 6 pm on a Friday. The service was good. The food was the worst experience at every level anyone should have at such a place. The owner did acknowledge (blame the kitchen staff) for the issues. He missed the fact that the quality is now missing... watch out for the Salads and Platters. read more

Today is my anniversary, and my husband and I chose Bistro Orleans for a celebratory meal. I chose the Blackened Redfish over rice (which turned out to be a rice in tomato sauce) and the missing spicy cream sauce. Opted to switch the rice for pasta w/Alfredo sauce ( an additional $6 charge). Then, I tried the fried green tomatoes. NOT! Was supposed to be served with a remoulade sauce (also forgotten). The tomatoes weren't crispy! On the other hand, my husband ordered the Pasta YaYa, and it was wonderful. He also ordered breaded pork chops to go, and when it arrived at our table, they were BLACKENED! I'm not certain if the back of the house is familiar with the menu or just inadvertently makes changes to customers' orders. However, I will try one more time, maybe during dinner. The best experience I had was with our wait staff (Brody), he was pleasant, apologetic, and very accommodating. I will most definitely revise my review upon my next visit. read more

I had been hearing radio advertisements for Bistro Orleans so I finally decided to try it out. I will say that it was worth it. The atmosphere is cozy comfortable. The menu selections are great. But the food is the star of this restaurant. The staff was super friendly and very responsive. I tired the catfish and Jambalaya and wife had the charbroiled oysters which come to the today sizzling. I was hungry out in Metairie and after a quick search of nearby restaurants, I decided to check out Bistro Orleans. The place was decently filled with a "regular" type crowd on a weekday; I can tell that most of the people dining here live in the neighborhood and know the place well. I was really hungry, so I decided to get the catfish with angel hair pasta and crab meat. As I waited, some garlic bread was brought out to the table, which was a nice touch. When my entree came out, I was blown away by how much food this is: the catfish was underneath a huge pile of pasta with a generous amount of sauce. As I dug into the food, there was so much crab meat that it was easy to spot. Sometimes you go to a place and they serve you a crab meat dish and you can barely find the meat- that wasn't the case here. The Alfredo sauce was creamy and delicious and the catfish was fried nicely and worked with the dish well. Honestly, the catfish is almost an afterthought considering how much pasta there is, so if you're in the mood for a lot of catfish you might want to get another dish. I was really happy with the food- I thought it was a rich, hearty meal and I was starving so it was perfect for lunch (and I even skipped dinner later, because I was still full). Bistro Orleans has a pretty extensive menu, so I'm sure I'll be back to try some of their other offerings. read more

We were a group of 8 on a Friday. Still. Oh my gosh one guest order onion rings and two had soup. Onion rings never came. He cancelled it. Both soups were so spicy you needed water as you ate. One guess didn't finish his. When the meals finally came -Everyone seemed to enjoy their meals. Parmesan, Alfredo (too thick) w/veal, Shrimp plate& a sandwich (Huge shrimp). A group of 5 of us visited this restaurant for the first time last night. I'm usually hesitant about trying restaurants that have a lot on the menu because I'm afraid that the food quality won't be there. I also was thinking that because of the pandemic and the recent hurricane that food quality and service just wouldn't be the best. All of that was disproven. The service was excellent and ALL of the food we had was delicious. (My only suggestion is to add a bit more seasoning to the onion rings). If you love oysters like I do, you MUST try the Oysters Saurage. The oysters were crisp and that sauce was amazing. I also had the bayou stack and it was soooo good. Between the 5 of us we also had Eggplant remoulade (they were out of the tomatoes and the manager suggested this to us.. super good), crabcakes, fried crawfish tails, Pasta Yaya and the steak. I went back to retrieve and was made to feel like I lost it myself when in reality I had to pressure her into pulling it out of her pocket. I called management and spoke with Archie who claimed she's their best server and "could trust her with anything" therefore nothing was done about this. Horrible. Service. I understand that you are understaffed but do not take reservations when you know your staff cannot handle you. Let me know ahead of time that it will be a two hour wait as opposed to seating you and not being served for 2 hours. Never have I ever had such poor service. Ended up taking our food to go. Not even eating the fried food which has been double fried and was hard as a rock. One meal which came out wrong. Again. Don't seat people if you know you can't accommodate. Really bad. Happened to be staying close so we looked up the menu. Got everything we wanted! Pasta Yaya was amazing - sauce was creamy but light! Catfish on the pasta yaya was fresh and crispy, great fried appetizers in the Orleans sampler - they let me switch out onion rings for fried green tomatoes ($1.50 more) and (shredded) chicken and andouille was melt in your mouth without being too watery. My husband doesn't usually like gumbo but even he loved it! Too bad we aren't staying here longer or I would go back and try other items. read more
