Joined a friend and his family for lunch today, I have to say this may have been my worst fast food experience ever.. First off we came in the door and waited over 5 minutes before we were even greeted, not even talking about being seated. So when we finally got seated the tables were dirty, there was food on the seats and the floor under the table. I had to ask for cleaning rag so I could wipe down the table and chairs myself, when I asked them to sweep, dude came over and swept under 1 of 4 tables. I definitely wouldn't come back and if it wasn't for my friend I would have left and gone somewhere else. The floors here are dirty beyond belief. read more

An absolute frustrating inconvenience, slow, the workers were under-trained, and it became a chore just to be in the restaurant. We were seated promptly, which is about the only thing good that came from the night. I forget the name of the young girl with blonde hair who was serving us, but she was quite friendly and was always quick to offer us refills. The restaurant at the time looked pretty slow, only two other tables with about 4-5 people in them were there. After we ordered we ended up waiting for 30 minutes, my friend says let's give it some more time, that 30 minutes ended up being about an hour after we ordered. We so old got tired of waiting and went to the register to pay for our drinks and leave, the lady once she saw us said our food is ready and we can take it to go, so we decided too, but it still wasn't ready. We ended up waiting at the register for another 10 minutes so they could make another burger they ended up not making or something. Finally we got our food and each one of us began paying, my brother was with me and I was paying for him and me. My brother accidentally told then that we got 2 of the Frisco melts, and she charged it on my card, and then she asked me to ring up the crunch burger cause that's what I ordered, I swiped the card then my brother told me I already paid, I told her if she could read our order back to us, We ended up paying for 3 sandwiches when we only ordered 2, and they didn't print me a receipt for any of them except for one burger so that further complicated this whole mess. The young lady left to get a shift manager who came to help. I explained to him the situation, and he looked in the system and said he couldn't find my order and he doesn't know what to do or how to fix it. What, Are you serious?? This guy is the shift manager... I asked if he can just give me a 5$ Gift Card and he said I'd have to pay for it, he asked me could make another burger, but I was not willing to wait another 30 minutes in this restaurant. At that point I honestly just wanted to leave, so he just wrote down and signed note on a receipt that said I get a free meal or something but I doubt I'll ever use it. Afterwards I'm frustrated and I don't want to be there anymore so I just take the note, my food and leave. I get I'm the car and open my meal, and start with my fries, there cold, and stale. Of course. The the jalapeno crunch burger. Its wet, cold, and soggy. And they didn't put the sauce I asked for on it. They didn't even put the sauce that comes with the burger on it. Nearly 2 hours and 17 dollars wasted. I know this is a long review, and I know it won't do anything. But the problem I see with my experience that night is a problem I've seen everytime I've been in there. The workers and completely exhausted and worked out, they are under staffed, they are severely under trained, to the point where they have no idea how to do a simple refund for an overcharged item. They don't really know how to be quick and expedient in a fast food-ish burger chain, and it's so frustrating, that it has made my mind up and I simply won't come back to any steak and shake because I can't stand this place, everytime if it's not one thing it's another. So I don't blame the workers, I blame management. If they happen to read this, please reevaluate your training and management methods, because it's not working, and it's turning people off completely. read more

they have dine in eating but you order from a kiosk so thought I would try it and it took 23 minutes to get my food for one person just a burger and fries- I had to ask where my food was so the burger was cold and the bun was stale, fries were hot but nothing else- the food sucked and there were 5 people that I could see behind the counter cooking and taking care of orders but the drive thru was more important than those eating inside - this is my last visit to this location it has been bad for a long time and now it is the worse ever read more

What made me so goddamn mad was that we waited an hour for food. I brought a bunch of kids in here late last night (16 kids and teens) Service was great. The manager must have come over a dozen times to make sure we were good. Everyone loved their burgers and shakes. I had the fried chicken salad which was fresh. The place was very clean, food was good. 5 stars. read more

From upstate South Carolina and I love eating at steak and shake, on the way home from Atlanta I decided to stop in here at 11:20, knowing they closed at 12 but was fine with getting in and out very quick. After getting a seat at 11:25 they did not take my order until 12 o clock and then proceeded to tell me what I was able to order was limited due to things being closed. Rude management. Came in to counter to place a to-go order. Greeted by a pink shirt female manager who offered to take my order. I started giving my order as she started typing at the computer. As I tried to order a second item, she abruptly interrupted me to start talking to an employee. She then asked the employee to come take over my order. The employee offered to help so I tried to complete my order. I tried to verify my order but the first part of order was unaccounted for so I had to start over. I was only ordering 2 meals. Mgmt tip: stop treating customers as just another interruption. You approached me and offered to take my order. This place is just plain nasty. Ate their a few weeks ago for the last time. The servers were clearing the tables, placing their fingers inside prior customer's glasses and then serving food and fixing drinks without washing hands. I went thru the drive thru here yesterday and got the jamacain ( i know i spelled that wrong i think. But cant think of how 2spell it right now) jerk burger and fries for $3.99. You can get seasoning on the fries which saves them. Those fries are the saddest excuse for a fry i have ever seen. Neway this is about the burger. It was really fast. And let me say i have went 2 burger 21 and gotten 2 burgers and 2 fries for $30+ a couple months ago and it was not even as good as this. So next time go 2steak in shake and save money. But this burger had some kinda sauce and pepper jack cheese. And this steak and shake burger was the best burger i have had in months. Def coming back soon. read more

Hit or miss with this one depending on who you get. When it's good it is good. For a fast food place it really is good. Only thing I would recommend for this location is put an awning over your drive thru so people don't get soaked when ordering in the rain. read more

My family and I went through the drive through tonight. Service was good, but they were out of the Dr Pepper my husband ordered and out of the Mac and cheese my kids wanted. They settled on alternative items, and we ended up with free fries when they realized that they put fries in our bags for the kids meals instead of the applesauce ordered. So it all turned out ok, but I would probably only go back during their half price happy hour for shakes and drinks from 2-5 am & pm on weekdays, or on the weekend when kids eat free. read more

Went to Steak n Shake in Buford for dinner last night only to find out that the dining room was closed and it was drive-through only. There was a fairly long wait in the drive-through, and when we asked why the dining room was closed we were told it was because there weren't enough servers. What happened? I used to love this place, the food was always great and the service was wonderful! The next time I'm wanting a steak burger, I will call first or drive to the Cumming restaurant. read more

The only reason this place gets a 2 is because I love the food. I expect Steak and Shake to be slow, but not that slow! It took 15-20 minutes to get our drink order. The girl seating us seamed annoyed that we came in and made her work. The waitress looked like she needed a shower and never looked at us. Went there for dinner tonight. Worked late and didnt have the energy to cook at home. Pros..fed a family of 5 for $20. Cons..as stated by everyone else the place could use alot of cleaning. The service is less than tolorable. And it seems people that work there lack common sence. It wasnt busy, maybe a total of 4 tables ocupied when we walked in. They asked how many, there were 5 of us. They walked around for about 5 min looking for a table for us, (there were several tables that needed to be bussed, and a plethora of booths that were already set up)I told them we could take one of the booths because my daughter is 4 and does not take a whole lotta space. The guy walks over to a booth, looks at it, turns and looks at the tables that have been put together to seat about 8 people with all the crap from the people that just left and says lets just wait till they clean up the tables. After another 15 min they seat us. Mind you when we sat at our table i looked over to the booth that i had suggested earlier and it was clean. I guess we exceeded the 2 person max for a 4 to 6 person booth. We waited for another 10 min b4 our waitress showed up. She was very sweet but not very attentive. She took our drink order and when she came back she asked if we were ready to order. My wife looked at her and sarcastically asked, "are these your menus" refering to the little flip cards they leave at every table. She apologized and got us our menus. About a minute later she comes back. Are you ready to order or do you need a few minutes? Really! I just got the#$@& menu. We asked that she give us at least 5 more min. She took our order and the food came relatively quickly along with bill. While we were eating she came by about 3 times to check if everything was ok. When we had finished our meal we discussed getting shakes. (I saw the light on across the street for krispy kreme, i went there). I left my wife and son there and took my daughters to get some hot fresh donuts and gas up at sams for $1.98. On my way out i stopped to let the waitress know thst my wife needed a menu to order some shakes. I was gone for about 20 min. When i went back to pick them up they had just gotten there shakes. My wife says they waited for 10 min b4 anyone, and not our waitress approached them. And to top it off, because she had waited for so long they asumed that it should be to go. Stopped in to eat before going to a movie at Mall of Georgia. Arrived at 6:10 with a party of 3 and got seated immediately and served by Brittany. She took our drink AND food orders, brought out the waters and the shake and disappeared. Never stopped by to update us on our order, check on us or anything. I guess 30+ minutes is standard service times. I had to find her at the pass thru as she was pulling food and asked her if that was our order. She said no, so I gave her money for the shake and told her to cancel my order at 6:45 to be able to at least attempt to make the movie time. Manager was clueless, as he kept bussing tables and seating new customers. 2 bad health scores and most recent posting was February 2015, should have tipped me. Never go there again. There was a loud pitch beeping from the door alarm which I tried to ignore, but ultimately could not take, especially after the waitress didn't bother to take even our drink order in over 10 minutes, so we decided to leave. Before doing so, we asked about the alarm and were told the general manager gad the only key and would not be back in town until the next morning, so it could not be turned off until then. Today, 3 days later, we were in the area again, so decided to stop for lunch. The door alarm was still going off, so they lost our business again. My family and I didn't have a good experience the last time we ate here five years ago but because my little brother and niece wanted Steak and Shake last night I decided to give this place another try. The waiter was kind and service was prompt. My cousin, niece and brother ordered burger and fries and strawberry milkshakes. The small is really small! Like a kid's sized cup lol and it came with no cherry on top like pictured! As for the burger the meat patty is so thin. Reminds me of In-N-Out burger patties I'd get in California. Double it up and it looks pretty good. Burgers came with shoe string fries which were really really good! I ordered hot chocolate and the chili spaghetti which I regret because it wasn't good at all. It was just mostly beans, onions, and cheese on top of spaghetti. No sign of meat at all. Won't be ordering that dish again. Overall staff was nice and restaurant was clean.
