Odd place. Been here many times, but first time reviewing it. First and foremost, it's a bar...with food. Plenty of TVs. They do tend to have poker there often. I've had some not so good experiences when that group is there, but Saturday was fine. That had a DJ coming in late Saturday night. Didn't stay for that. The food is for sure good. Typically get whole wings, but they either stopped selling them or they were out. Their house beer is miller high life. Cold and cheap. The burger was legit. Everything was satisfying. I had the Nashville hot. It actually had a little heat. So many times I'll order it and it's mild, but not here. The chicken was cooked really well. The sauce wasn't the best Nashville hot I've ever had, but the chicken overcame that and made me happy. I also had the cucumber salad. I've never had one in white sauce, but it was good. We have been here twice. The first time we had the Philly cheesesteak and it was phenomenal. I was surprised because the place is basically just a big bar scene, hence the name "tap bar". The service was very friendly and attentive. The second time we got burgers. The ODB which honestly was the best burger I ever had, no wonder it won the top three best burgers in Gwinnett County. We also had the Classic B which was also delicious. I added a picture of the classic B and unfortunately did not get a picture of my favorite burger The ODB.! But trust me it's delicious. Food was just okay, nothing special. I ordered the Swiss mushroom burger, the cheese was not melted and it didn't have a lot of mushrooms on it. The Patty needed some seasoning, it was flavorless. My fries are hand cut and not great, they were limp, dark, and oily. On the other hand my husband had the fried grouper sandwich and enjoyed it. The fish fillet was huge. This is way more of a bar than a restaurant atmosphere. The patrons were playing poker and were quite loud, which is not the restaurant's fault, but it was a bit annoying. I ordered a margarita that tasted like 7-Up, with no taste of tequila. We ordered cheese curds with a delicious marinara sauce, fish and chips that were a bit greasy, but the tartar sauce was really tasty, and The Deisel Sandwich, which was delicious and tender and not dry, like you might think a pork chop would be . We decided to try this place after driving by it for years. It was just 5:00 so, dinner time. The parking lot was almost full so we were thinking we might not get a table. Wrong!! The bar was busy but there was nobody at all seated in the dining room area. We seated ourselves and were promptly met by our waitress, who took our drink order and gave us menus. Drinks were served quickly and I ordered an appetizer because we were hungry. Our waitress ( I wish I remembered her name) seemed to turn around and POW, there were our natchos. Choice of chicken, pork or beef on the natchos. They were delicious. My wife had the flounder dinner and was very good. Fresh fish. I had pulled pork tacos that were stuffed so full that I could only eat 2. Took one home. And I'm a pretty good eater! I would also tell you that the silverware was highly polished. Very clean. We came during the day when it wasn't too busy. Service was great. The place was much larger than expected (2 pool tables, shuffle board, tons of tvs, u shaped bar with lots of seating). I didn't like that there was a designated drink menu. Although there is a full bar, I find that drinks are more consistent among bartenders when there are set items they make daily. I would give this place a solid 4.5 stars The food was average, but prepared well. The fries were the only real disappointment. The Burger was as good as a burger can be. Hard to mess up a burger. The bar at 7pm was packed, with a couple underage kiddos sitting around. No kid should be at a bar. Lastly, the service was also average. Not because the bar tender wasn't good because she was. However, there we 5 other workers hang around the left side (toward the bathrooms), while this one bar tender was taking all the calls. Took a while to get drinks and food came a little cold due to waiting. I will definitely return, but definitely left some to be desired. PS. Later that night I played a little Texas Hold 'em. Alexis was a true professional and made a lot of other servers look average. She was very much on time and making sure everything was right. Her tip reflected this as well. Diesel is a good neighborhood bar and restaurant. The staff is friendly, the beer is cold, and the food is good. We've been there for lunch several times and enjoyed a number of items. The one thing we get every time are the pretzel bites - they come with 3 sauces: beer cheese, pimento cheese, and a highly weird, oddly addictive pecan honey mustard. Salads and chicken sandwiches are good. Burgers are great. I am not a fan of their fries, hand-cut limp, almost wet. Not every time, but often enough that I default to a side salad now. read more

Server staff is great, kitchen is literally the most inconsistent in Buford. When it's good it's good, but that might be 1 in 5 visits. A few months ago, they changed the size of their salads, but kept the $17.99 price tag. Every time I order a salad, it's missing components and I have to ask for whatever was left off. Last night I went here just to have a girls night. I've been here multiple nights. We had a man walk up to us and show us a picture of his private parts. It was absolutely degrading. The staff honestly made it worse and pretty much had their regulars back, and said " I don't want you to get in the middle of this".As a woman it was as nightmare and we feel so violated. We went in for Gwinnett Burger Week to try the French Onion Burger - Double-patty burger topped with caramelized onions, and a double layer of provolone cheese - served on a grilled onion roll bun with a side of au jus for dipping. It was delicious, and my wife got a taco plate that she really enjoyed and will go back for. It's basically a large open area with tables and a bar which may be loud and not to everyone's taste, but I prefer a dive with good food over fancy. I am so upset I didn't take a picture of this flounder sandwich I had was ENORMOUS! Tasted like it was just caught and the batter was finger licking good. Fish sandwich needed like 3 damn buns - flaky and flavorful - just became my new goto - just wow. ;) I had been here serval times and the family owned business makes you feel like family. I had fried shrimp which were phenomenal before - crispy and delicious - with what tasted like homemade cocktail sauce. The drinks are always strong and the atmosphere is contagious as is the hospitality from each of the servers and waitstaff. This family owned place is like a much better version of Cheers mixed with Master Chef - as each thing I had, as well as guests had just love. This place's vibe is really cool and funky, and the menu sounded AMAZING, but I gotta drop a star (considered even another star) because the food and the time that it took to receive it was sub-par. Late afternoon and only a few folks at the bar, and maybe 1 to 2 other tables with patrons, but the wait for our meals was stupid long, especially my date's entree. He had onion rings on the side, and one of them resembled a muffin top, but turns out the onion ring, that wasn't a ring (because the hole in the middle was big and puffy) was really just oozing with raw batter. GAG. I had the grilled shrimp entree, and the shrimp quantity and size were dismal. The grilled veggie side was pretty bland too. Pretty sure that we'd come back here if we were in the area, or had friends who insisted on meeting us here, but I wouldn't race in for the food. More of a 3.5 The positives.... food was really good. We met another couple for "Adult trivia" pretty excited to go out and do something different. We got pretzel bites and fried cheese curds as our appetizer. Both were fresh , hot and really good. We got couple of the tacos, a pork sandwich for the table (dinner) which was again really good. Fresh and hot. Negatives... the waitress staff wasn't the brightest bunch. They forgot reordered drinks , silverware and had to ask multiple times for these. The waitress actually grabbed my plate and started to put the table trash on it as she was wanting to clear the table and I wasn't finished with my meal. The adult trivia was fun / different. The DJ is very loud. We were on the other side or the restaurant and still couldn't hear the table in conversation because of how loud his volume was. He ragged on everyone calling them names as they approached so if you're not for getting picked on I wouldn't come for trivia. Only other complaint was he felt the need to say a cuss word every 3 seconds. It was like he was cussing just to hear himself cuss. Again not a big deal but if you're offended but it come on a different night. Conclusion we will go back for the food and try something else but just not on trivia night. read more

Diesel is always home to a great time. Awesome staff, fantastic owners, and cool events for their customers. I very much enjoy their beer selection and their bar good. Most recently i ordered one of their dinner plates which was the pork chop and it did not disappoint. There was a semi-sweet glaze to the chop, perfectly cooked, and I could cut it with my fork. One of the best things about this place is the people in it. All of the staff at Diesel Tap House were welcoming, kind, and had great attitudes. From the servers to the bartenders to the DJ on Friday night, they made our night really enjoyable. They were accommodating to a bigger group and were able to push tables together for us. The DJ on Friday night was doing fun giveaways and the music was bumping. The vibe for the music was more 2000s rock/could be for an older crowd but he was really receptive to requests so my party requested some songs, the DJ felt the vibes of what we were requesting and kept the good dance music going. Although there's not really a dance floor, the staff welcomed dancing in front of the DJ, and my friends and I danced and welcomed others to dance with us. It was a really fun night at a really great place. Also the grilled chicken tacos were really good especially if you like lime like I do. read more

So I can't talk about anything in the restaurant except my first 5 minutes in because we left. I hate leaving bad reviews, but it is a PSA. My wife and I walked into Deisel tonight and were told to seat ourselves. We did and about a minute later we were greeted by a server not wearing a face mask...now regardless of your feelings on wearing a mask...restaurant employees that are near patrons have to wear one...our server was not. Not even down around her neck, nope..not one in sight. We emailed the owner our concerns and below is her response. As you can read she openly acknowledges that her staff should wear mask, but then goes on to say 98%(I'm sure there is reliable data to prove that) prefer the staff not wear mask. Sorry to say as a new business owner you don't get to let your customers make the rules...or you would have a bar full of drunk 15 year olds. I wish them the best, but if a restaurant cannot follow basic Health and Safety rules during a pandemic, I wouldn't trust them with my food either. read more

More than 3/4 of the tables were dirty. Only 3 were not. The bartender is a family member therefore of course "she can do no wrong ". Even the staff said so. They don't like her either and I was even told so by the staff. She should never be behind a bar maybe cleaning the kitchen would be a more appropriate job for her. Place was filthy. Diesel Tap House is a great, local spot with excellent atmosphere for lunch, dinner or after hours. The menu is top notch with hand breaded chicken, fish, custom burgers, full bar. Keno, pool, poker, DJ, gambling machines... Good number of TVs for sports, pride night and kids eat half price on Monday's. My wife and I had dinner here tonight. I had the ODB with fries. My wife had the Po Boy with sweet potato waffle fries. All the food was great. Very tasty. I am not sure the hash browns do much for the burger, but it makes it very big. Service was fantastic. My only negative is that they serve Pepsi.
