I got a Butter Steakburger and it was a plain steak burger, i asked them fornan actual one and i got THE SAME THING

I have tried to eat here 4 times and only stayed once the service is usually slow, portions are smaller than other steak and shakes I have visited and dirty. The one time we had a good visit it was afternoon so good luck if you decide to try I wont try for another few months. read more

I always come to this restaurant to eat. The service is always up and down but tolerable. I don't normally write on Yelp but I felt compel to do it this time. The lobby was extremely dirty when I came in and I mean dirty. I counted a total of 12 dirty tables fill with plates, glasses and dirt napkins. I ordered a bowl of chili and a Taco salad. The taco salad was ok but I showed the waitress that the chili was just unacceptable. It looked like mud. I place that plate upside down and the chili wouldn't move. read more

Sad that the owner/manager apparently doesn't care about the poor service provided here. There have been numerous other bad reviews before this one. Tonight will be the last time we go there. It took 40 minutes to get our food and the order wasn't right. Had waited so long that we didn't bother to say anything. Food was ok but not up to usual Steak 'n Shake standards. This is the closest location to my residence so despite the horrific reviews I randomly visit here. I can name many other places in a radius of 10 miles that have better burgers but if you want a good inexpensive cheeseburger in a short period of time, then this location suits me fine. SERVICE - NOT FOOD QUALITY Ok it was a Saturday afternoon and it was half full there with only a couple waitresses on duty. The server did not come by besides the beginning or the end it seemed. We had to "Flag" her a couple times. The order we ate there and the take out order we placed during our meal both were correct and good eats. They were out of a key item.....Oreo cookies for the three shakes that contain this ingredient. It seemed ridiculous that they have you stare at a placemat in front of you showing life-sized photos of Oreo cookie shakes......then disappointment sets in. Waited almost 10 mins in drive thru line while 2 employees were smoking at the garbage dumpster. Was told they were not on the clock. They went back into the store when they done. So the drive thru is at a stand still and they send employees on break. Won't be back. There are plenty of other burger joints that want the business. read more

I waited for 30 minutes before I left. I was seated at the counter and could watch all of the orders going out to the cars. Obviously the drive in take top priority. Unfortunately I can't talk so I can't use the drive thru. The food looked good but I never tasted it. I will not be back. The servers were great - the problem is the manager. I have no complaint of the food, it has been and still is yummmmm! HOWEVER, this place needs a better management team and better organization skills! They need a bus boy (girl) to get those tables cleared and washed PRONTO! I watched a customer cleaning the table for her family to sit and eat DESPICABLE!!!! There is no excuse for that. Waiting more than 10, 15 or even 20 minutes or longer to place an order then over an hour to get your food is irresponsible. I can't blame the waitresses, but they are running everywhere and seem not to have assigned tables...STUPID! I have no idea what is going on In the kitchen, but I can guess chaos and mayhem. This place needs a complete diagnosis and training from the mother company...unless this is how they run their business from the ground up...Pathetic! I waited 15 + minutes at the drive in with only 2 cars ahead of me. I was sick and wanted their Veg. Soup, I have gotten it before but its been over 1 year. When I finally got it and got back to my office, I had no crackers ,no spoon, no napkin. I took maybe 3 spoons, gross, too spicy, too thick . A waste of $3 , gas and my lunch hour. My husband loves Steak and Shake, me not so much, but I humor him. We probably visit once every other week. Well, tonight I'm done! Never again!! We wait forever in the drive through because most of the time there is no parking to go in. Well it took a minute to be seated but our waitress was nice. Poor girl though. I came to have a malt in a tall glass like the old fashion ones. Ordered a chocolate brownie malt cause i love both. In a minute iI was told they had no brownies so i had to just get chocolate. Asked for the $4 menu cause I love the choices. My friend got the classic hamburger that fell apart eating. We had plastic knives cause they ran out of silver ones. My milkshake came in a to go cup which broke my heart . I was looking forward to a classy glass one I did not see my cherry but found it at the bottom of my cup. We tried to make the most of it by being silly and having fun any way. The waitress had the manager come see us and she was very apologetic. About the situation. The glass milkshake glasses had just all been washed and said they were still hot and even if they waited a minute they would melt the ice cream. Girlfriend and I both ordered different things, I got avocado burger, she got a Frisco melt. Both were pretty bad. We both also got chili-cheese fries. I don't suggest that. The absolute worst service every time we go. Three strikes is enough for us to not return to this location again. We always order in advance and still end up waiting 20-30 minutes past the time the order was supposed to be ready. No one ever seems to have a clue who is supposed to work at the pick up counter, they all ignore you while you stand there waiting to be acknowledged then can never find your order. Tonight the girl finally gave us our food but no drinks, she said she was going to get them and then we saw her walking out the door with another order taking it to someone's car. Finally another server decided they should check on the counter since the line to pay was out the door! I asked for the drinks and was told they are working on making them. Another 5 min go by and after complaining again about the unacceptable service, she finally went and made the drinks! I love Steak and Shake but this one has to be the worst one I have ever eaten at. Inside the service is SLOW. Do not drink your entire drink because refills are not in your future. They do not seem to care that you are there. Ate inside 3 times and each time was bad(everyone has a bad one once in a while). The drive through is just as bad. Drove home (10 mins) to find Hamburgers that were smashed like someone sat on them. Hamburger meat wasn't even centered on the bun...was like a 7 year old put it together. Bun was dry, meat over-cooked and dry. Condiments almost non-existent. The commercials on TV look great, but the final product you get is lousy! We tried them a second time today. It was 435pm and we were seated immediately. Great start. Unfortunately, it went downhill from there. Our previous experience was pretty bad...gave us menus and never came back. This time we set the timer on my wife's phone. We decided we would wait ten minutes. That is the longest I have ever spent in a drive-thru for fast food, there were 2 cars in front of us, and it took approximately 20 minutes to get our food. The guy at the window was not apologetic at all about the long wait, and each car had a long wait (both cars in front of us); the food was not warm - we ordered a #2 - single with cheese and fries with a drink - the burger was not even warm, it was cold. The fries were warm but not hot. I was extremely disappointed and will NOT go back there. It appeared the guy was not in any hurry to provide service, or that he was very interested in working. I am giving it one star because I can't give it a half one. Both the service and the food was terrible we have been coming here for awhile and every time is worse and worse. We waited for our drinks that never arrived till after the food was brought out mind you water and lemonade because they were out of sweet tea. Sweet tea we are in Florida who runs out of sweet tea. The chilly was more like a cup of beans with water the Frisco patty I had to really look close to see two patties in there any thinner and you can see the sun through it What do you expect from a $5 meal. I have never driven away from a drive thru without paying or getting my order. After being in line for at least 20 minutes I finally got up to the window and no one even came to say it would be a while or anything. One car ahead of me had to pull ahead and wait for their order, and I think the car immediately in front of me pulled away without their order. I've been here before quite a few times, never, ever again. Change over in line cooks, wait staff and apparently management the last couple of months. Tonight, 30 minutes for food, no drive-thru (I could see from where I was sitting), staff up the ying-yang. Enough so they had smoking crews outside. Best yet, they were not busy. Burgers left on the warmer grill for 3-5 minutes. Yes, it does burn the hamburger, apparently, mine was one of the extra special burnt burgers. Our food sat waiting for delivery for 4 minutes. Finally, someone other than our server delivered the food. Best yet, check out. It does take time at this place to check out on a good day. They are getting worse, much worse. I saw someone at cash register checking out. Wow, I jumped up to hop behind this guy. Two folks beat me to the punch. We were a line of 4 checking out. The woman checked out the guy.
