Service was ok until I placed a last minute shake order and then waited another 10 mins because they cleared the screen, which they did apologize for. I LOVE steak n shake. Burgers are great, shakes are delicious. Their shakes are without a doubt the best shakes I have ever had. I only wish they had a few more options for their burgers. Great place though. I had a western burger and a virginia burger. both were delicious, the fries are good. I live in california where In n Out is considered the supreme burger. When we walked in, there were only 5 tables with guests, 3 of which were already served. We just finished our spartan race and were famished. They greeted us and promptly and sat us in the corner booth. Almost 20 minutes pass and we are still waiting to order our drinks. My granddaughters and I traveled to the Columbus GA area for their spring break. I placed an order online for pick up at Steak 'n Shake, Bradley Park Rd. When I arrived the attendant didn't know what I was supposed to have. I saw that the food was sitting in a crumpled bag (NOT UNDER A WARMER). He handed me an open bag (not folded bag) and said I was D.R. Postmates. I was not a Postmates driver, I ordered the food online. I asked for the shakes and he said "yup". He brought the shakes and I asked for the receipt and whether I could get napkins and straws, he said "yup". He handed me napkins that had grease stains. I asked for the manager, who took her time coming and then asked me who the attendant was, after he had just walked over to her and said I wanted to see her. There were empty apologies and after sharing that it was the worst customer service experience that I ever encountered, I left the restaurant, hoping the food would make up for the service. When I got back to the hotel, the food order was wrong ( I asked for a double with no tomatoes and no onions, leave the lettuce mayo ketchup and mustard...what did I get?...only tomatoes and onions on cold dry burgers with hard buns. It's easy to write a negative review, so let me be one of the few to break the monotony. As I write this it is Wednesday morning, (11/25 at 5:38am)! When I arrived, I was unsure if breakfast was already being served, and the gentleman assured me they could prepare whatever I wanted. I chose the Western'd BBQ sandwich with a large chili cheese fry. Not only was it prepared quickly, but the workers were very friendly, quick to offer utensils and napkins. Seeing how late/early it was, receiving the great customer service, and my meal being ready very quickly, they deserve the 5 stars I give them. It's very easy for someone to go online and complain, but these hard workers were so efficient, so kind, and so well prepared, I knew it was best to give them at least a little something. It was not very busy so my burger was delivered shortly, hot off the grill. I had a Nutella Shake and it was great!! The bathrooms where average cleanliness. I love the feel of the place, its sort of like a vintage look and they keep the place really clean. Other than that, the service is good depending on who you get. The first time I went there I got an OK person that did everything asked but just didn't have a happy feel about her. The second time I went I had an amazing server who went above and beyond. I guess it all depends on the time you go. As far as the food, its grreat! Its greasy, but what fast food isn't? I visited Steak and Shake today because I wanted a Grilled Chicken salad. I was so hungry and excited. My daughter's order of mac and Cheese and a cheese burger was fine from what I could see with the naked eye. Well, $15 later I received my Grilled chicken salad (Gnat and all.) I ordered an extra chicken breast for my salad at $1.50 no problem, but it is a PROBLEM when the extra chicken is not there and the chicken breast that was on the salad came from a grilled chicken sandwich because it was covered in Mayo. Thank God I am not allergic to eggs. Finally I get home and open my salad and a gnat flew out of the salad . THAT"S IT! I immediately called the manager and told her I was bringing her the gnat and the nasty chicken salad back. NEVER again. Terrible. Spent 40 minutes waiting for our food. Waiter chewing gum obnoxiously. Our waitress was really sweet. However, she just finished cleaning the restroom, didn't see her wash her hands, and almost passed out our food. She came out holding a trash bag and cleaning supplies. People ordered drinks and didn't get them until 5 minutes later. Felt like all they did was walk back and forth aimlessly going nowhere. Soup was hanging under the heat lamp for 30 minutes while I guess one cook made our order. Soup came and it was congealed, and pretty much solid. The only thing I can say is maybe they didn't have enough staff, or lack of work experience. Spent an hour. Probably should have gone to McDonald's. Or Wendys. my friend and I came in last night at about midnight. there were plenty of tables and only 1 server. her name was Kim and she busted her tail to make sure everyone was taken care of while her co workers stood around and talked to each other. and on top of that they sent extra employees home instead of having someone help Kim. my food was rung up correctly but brought out wrong. i'd only go back here if Kim was my server. This was my first visit and I never made it to the food. The service was horrible. Even though it was not busy AT ALL, we were seated in the very back of the restaurant and waited, and waited and waited for service which we NEVER received. We got up and left and the only recognition that we got were the eyes of the other patrons, who by some miracle were actually eating some food. I will never go to this establishment again!!!!!!!!!! I ate breakfast this morning at 9 o'clock at the Steak and Shake in Columbus GA, at 1601 Bradley Park Drive. Let me first say that I love Steak and Shake restaurants, but this experience was horrible. I arrived about 8:40 to an empty parking lot and the only waitress and cook in the establishment were outside picking up trash. Maybe this should present a red-flag when a place is that empty during peak breakfast hours. The two workers followed me inside and the waitress sat me at a table. I ordered two breakfast tacos and pancakes, simple enough right? My food came out about ten minutes later. The salsa served with my breakfast tacos had turned. It tasted like rotten vinegar. I let the waitress know and they did not have any salsa to give me because the whole batch had turned. Next, I started to eat my pancakes. They were so chewy I could barely cut them, as if they had been put in a microwave for far too long. I tried them anyway, and they tasted like there was a hint of blue cheese in them! They were absolutely DISGUSTING! Needless to say, I did not finish them. I told the waitress and she yelled for "Mitch" the cook in the back. So if you go there, and this guy is working, turn around and walk out. Who knows what this guy is doing to the food. I thought my food would be fresh, as I was the only customer, but that is obviously not the case at this Steak and Shake. I have never typed an official complaint about anything, but the experience made me very angry. I will never eat at this Steak and Shake again. There is obviously a problem with management, and whomever owns this franchise should evaluate many of the employees (especially management and cooks) currently working here. read more
