My friends and I decided to come here after a night out and man, customer service is lacking significantly. The employees here look SO miserable. The lady got our order wrong like 3 times, and we waited more than 30 minutes for our food to be ready. Mind you, we did not customize order anything. We saw our food sitting on the counter for quite some time before it was handed to us. The manager brought out our food, and we were missing our shake. We asked for it and he looked like we had insulted him. When he came back with it, my friends asked for ranch, and he looked even worse. Wtf, get over yourself. Points for opening 24 hours. The food were decent. Came in around 1a.m. we were waiting to be seated but no one came so we just got the menu and seated our self. Waited about 10 minutes for someone to come to take our orders. The food came out quick though. I got a garlic steak burger. I've never gotten it before but I didn't expect the garlic spread to be poured on top of the bun. It was just too messy and didn't look pleasant. I had to wipe the top of the bun off. Love the food and the prices. They have the best grilled cheese. However, DO NOT ORDER THRU UBER EATS!!! Driver came to my door with a box of Crumbles cookies and 3 pints of milk. She started to hand them to me when I told her I ordered Steak and Shake. She said my meal was 2 miles away. She delivered to someone else. I went on Uber Eats website. Driver would not close out the order. I tried calling and texting her. The phone number was no good. Uber Eats does not have a choice in help to select that you did not get order. So closest thing to select is cancel since Driver would not close out order. I could not get a live agent in chat. I finally found a number so I called Uber Eats to explain what happened. They said they would charge me the full $19.86 since I canceled the order. I told customer service the driver told me she delivered my order to someone else. The customer service representative said, So you got the wrong order? I said No. I did not get my order and I did Not take the order that was delivered to me cause its not mine. Rep. said that because I canceled I would have to be charged the full amount! Do not order thru Uber Eats. Lousy customer service. They only care about getting paid. I love steak n' shake butter burgers! I always order the Wisconsin butter burger. It tastes much better when you dine in verses at home. First the positive. The food at steak and shake is really good. One of the best fast food hamburgers I've ever had in my life and I we also love their chili Mac dishes. As far as value goes we have three small children who usually eat free on weekends when we eat there and we think it's a great value Plus my kids love the food. Now the bad:The only problem is that recently the service at the Valley Ranch location has become extremely slow. Tonight I placed an admittedly large order for my family (three kids meals +3 adult entrées) and it took 28 minutes from order to delivery in the drive-through. Once they brought the order out they had shorted me one hamburger and french fries. Then I had to go back in the restaurant and wait another 5 to 10 minutes while they made my missing hamburger and fries. While waiting I chatted with another customer who had dined in and had a similar slow and bad experience. The employees are friendly here and seem to care but don't seem to know how to operate the restaurant efficiently. I think they need a better system for managing their orders. I don't know anything about restaurant management but I feel somebody could consult and help them. read more

I would absolutely not recommend this location. Upon arriving the establishment looked like it was closed. The only way you can tell it's open is because the "Open" sign was lite. Entering into the restaurant there are no decorations of any sort. The employee just looked at my son and I and decided to walk to the back without greeting us and leaving us alone in the front. Horrible experience. I ordered 2 shakes nothing else and it took us 20 mins to get 2 shakes. There was no customer's before us or after us. Only one other family in restaurant and they already finished. The lobby was a mess and there was more than enough staff present. If they were more focused on doing their job the sitting around chit chatting maybe our experience wouldn't be as bad. Love steak and shake but definitely won't be back to this location. I ate here tonight with my partner, who is a doctor and was wearing scrubs. Our waitress was very friendly, but was training a new waitress who asked my partner if her was a doctor or a nurse. When he said he is a doctor, she showed him some sores on her hands and arms and asked what they were? He said it looked like she had mites, at which point she agreed and told us that her own doctor had already diagnosed her with mites. Why are they letting this server work with such an obvious infection?! This is contagious!! I was so disgusted, that I couldn't take another bite of my dinner and we left immediately. read more

Their manager, after having to re-order my shake and meal 4 times and getting it wrong once again decided to comp all of the food. He offered to re-make the meal and I refused because lord knows what they would have done to my meal back in the kitchen. The resolution should have been a gift card to another location where I might get proper service and the right order. Also just for note, il when I got my meal it had so much salt on the fries it appeared as if they poured baking powder on my food because it was white. I won't be coming back here. I made my first visit to S&S yesterday. The food was good. I had the 5-Way, which was chili, cheese and onions over a bed of spaghetti. No complaints about the food. The service was terrible. I went through the drive-thru and it took them over five minutes before someone came to the speaker to take my order. They kept repeating it back to me wrong. Finally they got it correct. Each time they spoke I could hear a lot of yelling and screaming in the background. When I pulled to the window to pay the cook and two girls working the counter were yelling at each other, cursing and calling each other the "N" word. All of the employees there were black and acted "ghetto." The language they were using was offensive and their attitude was horrible. They were cursing at each other. The cook was standing at the grill and his pants were sagging down around his knees with his underwear in full view. Disgusting! I got my order and left. It was accurate and tasted good. My complaint was the behavior of the employees. I probably won't be back to this location. read more

Whether it be their 24 hour drive through, their delicious milk shakes, or their staple steak burgers, Steak N Shake is something I definitely miss out on the West Coast. The Frisco Melt is what I typically go with. I used to order it with just cheese and ketchup but have learned the frisco sauce and the basic way it's served is best; as it is intended of course. I make it a point to visit a Steak N Shake at least once every time I go back to Dallas for a short period of time. The food quality is usually a 4/5 but for the most part service really sucks so I give that a 2/5 to balance this out. If they'd step up their service quality (ie, not making me wait 10 minutes, seriously, just to get a drink order in) then I'd be happy to give them a little more star-rating love. Still though. The frisco melt and snickers milkshake are worth trying. read more

I'm a little disappointed at this Steak N Shit oh sorry SNS. It wasn't up to par and I've spent many a days/ nights inside Steak N Shake. Its a good greasy spot, unfortunately this location's waitstaff was well below par. I stood at they're "wait to be seated" sign for a good 5 minutes before anyone said anything even though all of the waitstaff eyed me. The waitress visited us once and that was to take our order and all she said yes uh huh, be right out. The older lady who looked like she was the only one doing anything served us our food, did drink refills and gave us our ticket. The food wasn't very good but normally its somewhat decent. Next time, I'll go to Buffalo Wild Wings or I Luv Pho instead of getting crappy service. Shame Shame SNS! read more

I have very mixed feelings. On the one hand, the original Steak & Shake we fell in love with when we moved to Texas had it all. Table service, a fun 50's vibe, free meal for kids on Saturdays. Between the free meals and the coupons on the app (like spend $25 get $5 off your next order, or free soda's) a family of 2 adults and 3 children could feast for 20 bucks. Let's be honest; that was an unsustainable model today. Sure, you could get a meal for $4, and they were great, but you couldn't miss the fact that multiple workers would call in sick and the whole dining floor would have a single server. Wait times were long. To get a refill on your drink you felt you were inconveniencing them. I'll miss that model. This location has been cleaned up, of course. No 50's vibe. No table service. No free meals for kids. No cute paper hats or toy cars to put together while you waited. And No. Coke. Zero. Now, the prices are in line with Chick Fil A, yet there is no play space. No menus; it's all on the board now. You order at the counter, and they give you a buzzer with a number. When it buzzes, presumably, your food is at the pick up counter and you can go retrieve it. That didn't happen for us. After waiting 25 minutes, my husband went up to enquire. The manager asked the line cook "Order 29?", to which the line cook shrugged and went back to his work. The manager pressed on "Hello? Order 29?". The line cook proceeded to pick up the receipt from the floor and prepare it. The order came exactly as we had requested. We got 3 numbers ones, a children's grilled cheese and a children's chicken fingers. Before, you could order their meal and have just water. They have a self serve soda fountain now, which, I must add, has THREE different types of Coke. Full Fat, Diet and caffeine free diet. Did I mention they DONT have Coke Zero? Since there are no childrens dishes on the hanging menu, you need to make sure you ask for a children's portion, or you'll get a full portion. Best I can tell, the children's portion just has a smaller cup (everything is ala carte now unless you make it a meal, which is the same price as just adding fries on their own). No more tabletop ketchup, its packets now, and your meal is served in a black tray. The decor is more Chipotle rather then the cute 50's diner it had been. Now that the price is in line with it's competitors, and there is no play space, and they still prioritize the drive in over the dine in so the wait is long, well. Just keep that in mind. The food was just as we remembered. Would have been so much better with a Coke Zero, though. read more

The waiter didn't want to help any of his tables, he brought out the order in pieces and not all at once to the table- so half of us including the kids were without food while the others food was cold by the time they got the rest out. And it wasn't busy, they were maybe 25% full all but one server was totally inept. Both the men's and women's restrooms were disgusting. There was nothing about our experience that would encourage me to ever done there again let alone suggest it to others. Steer clear. read more

If I could give zero stars, I would. I love Steak 'n Shake (other locations), but this was by far the worst experience I've had with them. So my girlfriend and I walked in shortly after 2:00 am, around 2:15ish. We were super starving. Anywho, we sat down and waited for a very long 30-45 minutes before our drinks and orders were taken. Keep in mind there was one other table besides us, and they were just as neglected as we were. So as we're waiting to give our order, our "waitress" decides to get into a bit of an argument with the other table. Super unprofessional. To add to it, the waitress was the one who started it. Okay so we get our drinks, and then our food. Turns out that we got food that we didn't order. Our waitress was eating hot Cheetos at the bar, ignoring us, so I took our food to the bar and got the cook's attention. He tried to tell me that we ordered the food that we received . Seriously? I know what I ordered. Finally someone else brings out the food (without napkins). Once again, the food is wrong. Also, our fries were super cold. I didn't feel like waiting forever and a day, so I went ahead and ate my food. Lastly, the manager was being really rude to guests who were walking in after us, telling them that the restaurant and drive through were both closed, even though it's open 24 hours. Please do ME a favor and don't go there. It's not worth getting upset. read more

This was my first time here, I didn't expect such a great experience. The Place: Very clean, organized, welcoming, and bright.. The atmosphere is amazing. The People: They greeted my friend and I as soon as we walked in, seated us, made suggestions. I'm vegetarian, and they made me feel very welcome and as if they could accommodate anything on the menu to fit my diet. They were very friendly and genuine. The Service: We ordered our food, and it was out in less than 10 minutes, very fast! The Food: The Burger my friend had, he describes as perfection. The portions were great, my Veggie Melt was to die for. Both orders came with fries, and they were nice and fresh! Loved it! Co-workers and I were going to Popeye's to try the chicken sandwich (war with Chick-fil-A), but they were out, so opted for Steak & Shake next door. Being from IL (land of Steak and Shake), I was pretty excited as hadn't been in a while. The restaurant was clean, nice staff/manager, and tasty food. The only disappointment was they didn't have any of the usual chili items on the menu so missed the Chili 3-Ways.....hope they eventually add it at this location.
