Our butterfinger shake some how became a cookies and cream, and my mint shake became...just all wrong. How does a restaurant that specializes in SHAKES mess up both of them! Steak n' shake doesn't have the best food, but it's not the worst either. The food isn't the problem though at this location...it's the disgustingly slow service. When my party arrived, we waited almost 15 minutes to be seated and then another 10 minutes to get our water. Upon receiving our waters, we ordered our entrees and then the real waiting game began... 42 minutes later, we received our burgers. My top bun for my burger was charred and stuff like a rock, my fries were cold, and my girlfriends shooters barely contained any meat or cheese. This has been the worst restaurant experience I've had thus far. The prices are extremely cheap and you get what you pay for...barely. Honestly, I have yet to have a positive experience here but this one took the cake. Waited in drive thru to place my order for 10 minutes. After no movement whatsoever I decided to walk inside and order there instead. Took 20 minutes for my shake (not an exaggeration). The woman who ordered her chicken tenders right after me was still waiting for her order when I got mine. My family and I went out to dinner tonight. I used to so love Steak N Shake. But, tonight proved to be a nightmare waiting to happen. When we first got in the door the first thing you notice is the restaurant is filthy dirty. The floors the counters the walls all of it looks like it never gets cleaned. The tiles are not even white anymore but a dirty brown which means it does not ever get cleaned properly. No one seemed to care that anyone had come into the door. When they finally did come to seat us it was an unfriendly attempt to get us to choose our own seats. The table behind us had a lady who was mad her wait was over 30 minutes her food was not right and finally she went to talk to the Manager. Even thou the waiter had tried his hardest to help the woman clearly wanted the Manager. After throwing her food on the counter the Manager who was clearly ignoring the situation til then finally came out and talked to the woman. They finally brought her out some hot fries and tried to smooth stuff over. In the mean time we had waited a really long time. And over 30 minutes later my mom finally got her salad. A couple of our plates started to finally arrived some 40 minutes later. I loved my stoned cold hot dogs. And when my BLT finally did arrive it was Bread Lettuce (one little piece the size of a quarter) Tomato. It was the worst BLT ever but, he did get me some more bacon on my pathetic sandwich. Our other food finally came out little by little and 50 minutes later we still had no grilled cheese for my 4 year old niece who was starving. She rarely ever eats her whole dinner and she ate the whole half melted grilled cheese sandwich. The table next to us who had been there right around 30 minutes with 4 small children ended up waiting like 30 minutes before they told them there food was not coming cause their system rebooted. They got pissed off and left. The wait staff. The Managers. No Smiles. No Customer Service Skillz. They really act like they do not care if you put in a complaint. My family will not return to this restaurant ever again. Id rather spend my money at home and make my own food then be treated like I am unimportant at a place I used to love to go too. And this is not the first time. I try to go to SNS every couple of years. But, it just seems to get worse and worse. Its a shame too the drive thru was packed and the tables were almost packed out but, the food just never comes. Even more disgusting. I found someones cold half cooked onions on my BLT plate. Went through the drive thru and ordered a burger and fries. On the burger I told them NO CHEESE, mayo, mustard, ketchup, pickle and onion. I had to repeat myself 5 times before the gal working the drive thru could get it right. I also repeated NO CHEESE five times. Got back to work and low and behold, CHEESE!!! I was surprised this Steak N Shake is taking on the atmosphere of McDonalds. Everything is self serve by utilizing a kiosk and credit card ONLY. I wanted to pay by cash, but no one behind the counter would assist. I ended up paying with debit card after waiting 15 minutes for someone to assist. My family & I attempted to find a clean table but was unable. In a pandemic, everything should be clean and spotless. This was NOT the case at this location. The place was disgusting and should be closed. My father ordered the spaghetti with chili on it and said it was horrible. There wasnt even enough chili to cover the top of the mound of cold spaghetti. Between the total self service, no attention from staff, dirty restaurant, and food that was not what I would serve to my enemies, I would say we were totally dissatisfied. If you plan on visiting Steak N Shake, don't be disappointed if the old restaurant style is gone. There are no more waiters available. It's been a long time since we've been here and now I know why! We were trying to figure out a fast place to eat with our 2 year old, so figured we'd try here. The girl seating/waiting us you could tell didn't want to be there (or maybe just didn't want to deal with a family with a toddler?). She didn't bother asking if we'd like a high chair or booster and just sat us. She didn't ask if we wanted anything to drink for our daughter and the waitress wouldn't even interact with our daughter who kept saying "hi" to her, waiting for a response. She took about 10 minutes to come back for our order and then it took over 40 minutes to actually get our food. 40 minutes for a place with a drive-thru? Pretty sure it only came out then when our toddler starting yelling "eat-eat-eat". The cheeseburger and fries were cold and barely edible. They had forgotten the cheese. When we asked if we misread and the burger really didn't have cheese she sighed and said they were suppose to and "I guess i can take it back". We said it was ok and just asked for slices of cheese. We ordered a grilled cheese for our daughter and the cheese was pretty non existent (picture). To top it off it took 5 minutes of us standing at the counter to pay and us saying something for one of the 7 ppl standing around to acknowledge us. This has got to be the worst restaurant I have ever entered in my life. I placed an online order at about 845 this evening (Saturday night), paid for it online, and was given a confirmation number with a arrival time of 901. We didn't even get to the restaurant until probably 910 because it took us longer to get around and get there then the estimated 16 min. Regardless, we ordered 4 sandwiches with fries, a kids meal with a shake and 3 regular sized shakes. When we walked in, it took 5 min before anyone even approached us to ask us what we needed help with (my son and I were standing right at the counter and the restaurant was only about a quarter of the way full). Meanwhile, while we're waiting to be greeted, every single one of the servers was back behind the counter near the shake station, laughing it up, there was a guy sitting at the counter that I thought probably worked there and was on a break because he kept going around the back of the counter, but then realized that he actually worked at Blaze and was just there picking up two shakes, but must of done this often because he appeared to be pretty comfortable behind the counter there! Once we were finally greeted, she asked if we needed to place an order and I informed her that we already had, to which she replied "web" and just turned around and went back to joking and laughing behind the counter with every other server there, a couple minutes later we did receive a bag from a manager who was the only person working (he was on the grill) besides another manager who came out from the back to apologize to us but also didn't rectify anything. The only thing in the bag was our sandwiches and kids corndogs, then a different server informed us that our shakes would be right out, to which I replied, "and fries", I was ignored. I know this because I got told 6 times that all I was waiting on was fries!! Meanwhile, while we were there, one of the servers was making a drug deal with the guy that was there from Blaze, another server was falling all over every girl that walked through the door with sleazy pick up lines, another guy was laughing it up with his friends that were there, a couple servers were back behind the counter dancing and laughing with the others. I'm telling you, if I had been the manager slaving over the grill, I would've fired every single one of them on the spot, especially due to the fact that the server making a drug deal was literally 2 ft from him. Did get an apology from the manager cooking burgers, to which I replied, "You're fine, I see that you are the only one doing any work!!", his response was to make an excuse, something about the person making shakes only having been there a week and that was probably the delay! Yea because it had nothing to do with the 6 other servers on the floor having social hour!! Again, he told me that my shakes would be right out, to which I replied again, "and fries", it was just then that he heard me and my fries were put down, 10 min later I got my fries, and eventually got my shakes, now problem is my burgers I had gotten 40 min ago are cold now. I don't care how long you have worked there, I guarantee that it doesn't take an hour to make shakes. Not that I was looking for anything from them free, because I had already paid, so all I wanted was my food, but nobody attempted to rectify the situation in any manner at all. So all in all, I walked out with 4 ice cold, rock hard burgers (that I didn't dare request they remake because we would have been there all night), an order of equally hard and cold corndogs, 5 luke warm, barely cooked fries, and 4 shakes, the kids shake coming out with whip cream after I requested that it not come with whip cream or cherry, so after taking the whipped cream off because my daughter would have flipped, I realized it as well was the wrong shake, they gave me M & M after I had been asked and told them that if was peanut butter cup 6 times along with telling them the other 3 as well. Oh and went to the bathroom while I was waiting, absolutely disgusting, didn't even us the bathroom walked right back out! Didn't bother telling anyone because they wouldn't have done anything about that either!!! Ate there yesterday (April 14, 2018) at 2:30pm. Was sat when we walked in. 20 minutes go by and no one comes to greet us or take a drink order. Finally a girl comes over takes both food and drink order 15 minutes go by and no drinks and she's walking around talking to the other wait staff. A different person comes over and asks if we've been helped and we tell her we put our order in but never got it. She goes to tell the waitress. Finally our waitress comes back with our drinks and literally says "sorry I forgot". Food came out looking horrid. The buns were gross and soggy. She never checks back and my order wasn't complete. We finally give up and leave. The whole time the manager on duty is at the counter socializing and laughing it up with the staff coming in and out. I use to frequent Steak 'n Shake from time to time because it was a decent deal with coupons. I just stopped there tonight and they would not accept my coupon. I do not know what is going on with Steak 'n Shake lately with coupons and customer service, unfortunately I am strongly reconsidering my previous positive position on the company and am changing my rating from 5 stars to 1 star. Needless to say, they just wasted two milkshakes since they did not accept my coupon. What a waste and poor business mentality. We thought we'd give this place another try based on prior positive experience for lunch grub. Based on my prior review, I certainly wouldn't try breakfast again! While walking in from the parking lot about 2:30 pm, we noticed vomit on the sidewalk that had not been cleaned up. Wow, what a wonderful invitation. Then we opened the exterior door leading to a foyer. The floor, walls, and glass were all filthy. Going through the interior door and looking about, it became apparent to us that the interior floor had not been cleaned in some time, and by "some time", think calendar not clock. When the greeter offered to seat us, I verbally chastised her over the filth and made it crystal clear that cleanliness cannot be ignored. Now I don't know if this is a corporate or franchisee operation, but either way, many are asleep at the wheel. I strongly suggest a banner on the front of the store declaring UNDER NO MANAGEMENT. Went in with four people and they ended up screwing up the majority of the orders. I ordered a burger wrapped in lettuce instead of a bun since gluten makes me sick. The waitress couldn't get her head around what I was asking but wrote it down and said she'd tell the kitchen. I'm not kidding when I tell you that she brought me out a plate with fries and two hamburger patties. No onions, tomatoes, ketchup or mayonnaise or even lettuce. To top it off my fathers BLT came out with no bread as well. When he asked for bread so he could eat it she took about fifteen minutes and brought him back a hamburger bun. Someone else at our table ordered the guacamole burger and it shipped up with maybe 1/4 of a teaspoon of guacamole on it. When she asked for more guacamole the had the gall to charge us extra for it even after all of their mistakes. The two milkshakes orders at the table took much longer to come out than the food. I give this place 3 stars for a few reasons. One, I ordered the buttery burger, fries and a Oreo mint shake. My burger and fries came out instantly - so far so good right? I then waited 15 minutes for my Oreo mint shake. Now I'm not sure if they had to run to Walmart and snag another bag of Oreos to stomp on to throw in the mix or what. But once I got it is was pretty tasty. The buttery burger was almost too buttery but I guess that's something you have to deal with. The fries were phenomenal. A suggestion though, maybe for corporate, make them a little thicker, the fries are so thin that I can't grab an even handful going the same direction. It makes dipping in sauce a little complicated.
