Tonight's meal at Steak N Shake was a default meal. This means, it was late, I was driving, and I didn't want McDonald's. This location was open late due to it being in a college town, so I ventured off the highway for a bit hoping for something better than the Golden Arches. When I arrived the location was well lit and had an ample parking area. The drive thru line appeared to be stout, so I opted to go inside and take my food to go. I ordered a double steak burger combo meal and also an additional double steak burger. Yes, I was hungry, it was after 10pm and I hadn't eaten all day. The order was placed at a kiosk terminal which is how they do it here. You order and pay with zero interaction with an actual human. The interior of the establishment appeared clean, and it looked as if they had just mopped the floors. The restroom was utilized as I had a long drive ahead of me, and I wanted clean hands before I ate my meal and I also wanted to be pee free for the rest of my journey. The bathroom facilities were also clean and adequately stocked. When I came out, shortly after my meal was ready. I was excited to eat and was hoping for a delicious meal. I self served my drink, a Barqs root beer, and headed out to my car to continue my journey. I got situated in the car, placed the food bag on the seat, and drove off, waiting to enjoy my food as I drove so as not to lose precious time. After 30 seconds of driving, I was back on the highway heading south. I reached into the bag, ready to devour the hot French fries as I always eat them first. Much to my chagrin, the fries were ice cold. How could that be, I had only been in the car for less than a minute and surely they wouldn't have bagged up cold stale fries, would they? The short answer is, yes, they would. I always look forward to hot fresh French fries, as that is a treat with the meal. Tonight, Steak N Shake staff apparently felt serving hot fries wasn't important. I think that this should be at the top of every fast food Chains goals, serving hot fries to the customer. Nobody wants to eat cold soggy fries. On to the burgers! The double steak burger was hot, fresh and juicy. Every bite was delicious, on both burgers. While they may have failed on the French fries, they absolutely got the burgers right. While I try to stay away from fast food as much as possible, when traveling, sadly I have to eat and at times it is fast food. While tonight's visit wasn't a complete success, it wasn't a total failure by any means either. You lose 2 stars for the cold fries, the burgers were good and your establishment was clean. No fast food is 5 star in my opinion, so you start at a 4, and go down from there. Hot fries are paramount to your success with customers, that goes for any dining establishment. Nobody wants to eat cold fries, they're gross. That is why I eat them first, so they're not cold. Tonight, you failed in that regard, but hit redemption on the burgers.

Watery chili

I personally love the kiosk ordering, since our main complaint was always the bad service. Although an elderly couple was having issues and ended up leaving. :( We ordered 2 cups of chili and burgers. The burgers were delicious as always. The chili was very runny and watery. Inedible.

Grabbed some quick food from Steak 'n Shake while in Kalamazoo because our local one was our spot back before it closed. My husband and I went regularly when we were still dating and just like their food in general. I got a classic burger meal without pickles and a grilled cheese, while my hubby got a garlic burger and chicken tenders. I got a root beer while my husband got fruit punch. I will probably always frequent Steak 'n Shake anytime I don't have much time (we wanted to get home quickly so we didn't spend too much time in the rain) and there is one nearby. Thanks Steak 'n Shake, be back soon.

Nothing mixed in!! This was suppose to be Reese's!

Horribly slow!!! The shakes were totally liquidy like they had been sitting for awhile. Both of our shakes had barely any candy in it (Reese's and Snickers). There was a tiny bit sprinkled on top. That was it! This is happened more than once. Horrible place. Not going back!!

600 is such a cute place for a lovely meal!…read more We have been multiple times but stopped in on a recent sunny afternoon for some lunch. 600 is so light and airy, we really love the atmosphere!! We had a really great waitress, I wish I would have gotten her name! She was doing the job of hostess and waitress to multiple tables, and doing it all very well! We ordered a chicken sandwich and a salad for our lunch entrees! Both were very good and presented very well! While the food is good and quality feels high - the price is also on the high side. For a sandwich and a salad, waters to drink, we spent over $50 for our lunch! Just something to be aware of! While we had time - the experience was not fast. Something to be aware of if needing a quick lunch. The restaurant was not overly busy but the wait was a little long to receive our order. I ordered a salmon salad - the menu nor the website specify if the salmon is wild caught or farmed. I would really love to know this information - the price would be much better reflected if it were indeed wild caught. :)

The service was on the slower side and could have used more attention to detail--coffee refills were missed, and we didn't have spoons to stir our coffee. That said, our server was kind and had a gentle, pleasant demeanor. The food overall was very good. Only one person in our group was disappointed--the chicken and waffles were described as dry, with the chicken coating lacking flavor. Everyone else enjoyed their meals, and the desserts were a standout; they were excellent and loved by all. One area that could use improvement is the upstairs bathroom. While it was well stocked with supplies, it needed cleaning. Clear signage for the upstairs restroom and perhaps a nice piece of artwork would also be welcome touches. Overall, a nice brunch experience with great desserts and room for a few improvements.

Lots of seating, good service, plenty of options on the menu with great combos for value. Greek salad was fresh and delicious. My only complaint is that it's hard to find the place since it's sort of up a hill and tucked away in a parking lot within the Menard's parking lot, but it's worth the trip!

The service was great the staff was friendly, welcoming, and always smiling, which I truly appreciated. Unfortunately, the food just didn't live up to my expectations. Everything was over-seasoned with cinnamon to the point where every bite tasted the same! We ordered lasagna (a Greek-style version) and moussaka, but honestly, they were indistinguishable and also they looked the same, tasted the same, and were both overwhelmingly oily. The portions were also too thin to be satisfying. The cleanliness of the plates were questionable as well Tha side of Greek salad was the best thing I tried. Very delicious and i liked the touch of beet slices. Good bread as well The fries were okay, nothing special, but not bad. The ice cream portion was generous, which I appreciated, but the product quality didn't taste great. For the price, I expected much better. It felt very overpriced for what we got. As much as I loved the atmosphere and the great service, I'm not sure I'd return.

Presentation - 10/10 Taste & Flavor - 10/10 When getting food here you can get a good variety of spicy and savory especially when it comes to their burgers their drinks are made with much care. Nothing is too overpowering Portion Size - 10/10 I have a very small stomach so things tend to fill me up regardless however my husband is an endless pit and the burger seemed to fill him up for the time being. Value for your money? I would say you get a good value and a full meal for the price you're going to pay You get good service especially on a Sunday when there's only a very few people in there and you're just trying to relax. ‍ Service - 10/10 The service in overall 10 out of 10 The bartender was extremely friendly kept a decent conversation going & greeted us when we entered, most of the staff is college students so you know they're working hard when it comes to both school and being servers. It's good for a night out on the town or just drinks with friends they have a wide variety of drinks and drafts and a good burger. I highly recommend giving this place a try if you haven't already they live up to the hype.

My burger has layers of cheese and meat and sauce. Mouth full of goodness. Also my "back forty" burger is only $13. Pretty good deal in 2024. Sides are extra though Sides are not so much, just taste like they are from the freezer and straight into the fryer. Burger is the main character anyway. Drinks are weak, you can probably down a couple mix drinks and still blow below limit. With that being said, this is still a better place to eat and watch a game than BWW.
