Monday I made a special trip and got to their drive-in window at 4:40 PM, for their "week day milk shake specials from 2:00 to 5:00 ", and after first being asked to take some time to review their menu selections, the attendant came back and told me that they were very sorry but they were all out of milkshakes. If I could give this place 0 stars I would. Went there yesterday and when we were seated we were never given any silverware or children's menus . After asking several times they brought 1 menu for the 3 kids. We then ordered our food. The waitress spilled my husbands drink all over him and didnt even clean it up. Ahe left the juice all over his menu and his side of the table. Also got it on my mother's shoes. Well we decided it's ok accidents happen. We put our order in. We waited 45 minutes and still hadn't gotten our food. Nor any refills. After the 45 mins the food came out all cold. My daughters chicken fingers were rock hard everyone's fries were hard and they never gave us the 3 orders of baked beans. But I wasn't going to have my kids wait another 45 for more cold food. They nibbled on some of it but for the most part it all was left on the table. My mom sent her food back and when they brought the new order out her plate was full of grease from the onion rings she ordered so much so her bun was soaked in it. I go up to talk to a manager and get told by the service trainer that the managers are in the back and wont come up to talk to me. I told her I dont normally complain but this was alot of issues. She took 4 dollars off my bill and handed me the 3 orders of baked beans to go. I will NEVER go back her. My favorite Burger joint hands down!!!! It's what a Burger place should consist of!! Love their different varieties! And their shakes are out of this world!!! It's could lead to an addiction! If I could give this restaurant 1/2 star, I would. We have lived in the area for 8 years, and service has gone from bad to worse. Slow seating, slow getting waited on, shakes come out melted from sitting for so long, and you can't count on your order being correct or warm when you do finally receive it. My family and I used to visit this restauraunt many times a month. It may be to just drive through for shakes or come in for a sit down ice cream sunday or breakfast. We did this until a few weeks ago. We went there one morning. There were many tables empty and it seemed as tho everyone was in the kitchen giggling and laughing. We waited for 10 minutes to be seated. The waitress said someone would be right with us. 15 minutes later, we were about to get up and someone finally came to ask us what we'd like to drink. We ordered our food at the same time we ordered our drinks. The waitress came 10 minutes later with our drinks but not our food. She said our food would be right out in a couple minutes. 20 minutes had gone by and still no food. We could hear laughter from the kitchen area. Saw the manager go to a couple at a table and appologize to them for the delay in their food and actually gave them their breakfast for free...never once approaching our table and we had come in before them. When our breakfast finally did come, we were all ready to leave. Didn't enjoy it one bit. Let the company know about our disappointment and someone from corporate contacted me and told me that they would send a gift card to make up for the poor service we had. It's been 4 weeks and still nothing from them. I guess that they really do not care about their patrons. This is sad because when people ask me if I'd like to join them for ice cream or anything there, I tell them my story and we all go somewhere else. I'm just disappointed in Steak-N-Shake. I used to enjoy the restauraunt greatly. If someone from corporate can lie to a customer...that's just a horrible shame! read more

I was visiting family and we stopped in at this steak and shake for dinner. The service was fine, the food was fine. I honestly wouldn't give a 5 star review if it wasn't for what I saw from management at this restaurant, two things stuck out. 1. There was a manager on the grill. I love that the manager was out working with his staff and helping them to get food to their customers! That's a sign of a great manager. 2. A man walked in who was clearly homeless and hungry. The hostess asked if she could help him and a manager quickly called her over. They had a brief conversation and she seated the man. Multiple wait staff stopped by his table, some even sitting for a minute and talking to him. They got him a soda, a shake and a meal. They showed that they had a heart and treated him like they'd like to be treated if they were down on their luck. I am guessing the manager or someone bought his meal but I'm not sure of that part. I am sure that they made him feel good and for being good honorable human beings I feel that they really deserve the 5 stars and recognition. So kudos to you guys! read more

He returned with such a smile on his face because everyone was so very nice he couldn't stop talking about them! The shakes are always good, but the food that comes out of this particular Steak n Shake is disappointingly subpar. Our drive-thru order was incorrect - we got 3 orders of fries we didn't pay for. That might've been a bonus, but they were cold. The frisco melt in particular, was pathetic - it was not grilled at all and appeared to have been nuked. This place is filthy. I simply can't stand it anymore. When we visit my dad we come here because we love the shakes. Last night I noticed again how filthy the floor and men's room are. A young lady is using a mop on the floor. Where the mop attaches to the handle it is blue. The strings on the mop could not be more black with grime. If her goal is to spread the filth she is doing an admirable job. Your shoes stick to the floor. The kitchen in plain view always has debris on the floor and everyone just walks on by, including a middle aged woman who I believe is the manager. I will not go into detail on the men's room, other than to point out that this is where the employees are washing their hands? I'm sure you get the idea. I travel for work and have been to other Steak and Shakes and haven't seen these conditions. Whoever is running this place should be ashamed of themselves. I can only imagine what the back areas look like that the public can't see. Why two stars? This used to be one of my favorites but today just surprised me.. out burger buns were really greasy and the ranch was off. And our waitress was really weird ( not to mention ) .. and when we went to pay our person that was taking " care of us" messed our order up and we paid an extra 20$ but then they ended up giving it back and taking it out of our waitress paycheck... Was super excited to try steak and shake here in Florida. The waitress we had was having an off day. We were bright dirty napkins, dirty cups and the entire estuarine was it off ketchup. I always try the double patty burger. But a the other are still good. Like the royal burger or the Jamaican jerk, it is a little bit spicy but it's taste very juicy. But there's time where I have to wait for at least 45 minutes for the shakes to come out on busy days. It's a little bit annoyed. I have been to many steak & shakes in different places and had good service , but today was different. The service at this store was the worst I've ever had. There were people who came in after us that got waited on way after us and we waited a long time! One lady told the waitress she has already waited 20 min still no service. Terrible service! I walked in at around 9 pm with my family to have a quick bite to eat and some milkshakes. We walk inside and there were about 5 tables taken up with the rest of the restaurant empty. We stood there for 15 minutes waiting to be sat while all the servers and managers walked by us without even saying a word! They all just stared at us and kept walking. I work in the restaurant business and I would have never done that to a customer. The least they could have done was tell us they would be with us shortly. The food was typical Steak 'n Shake, which we like when we want a quick and easy meal, but the wait was horrendous! Two other groups who came in after us were served before we were, and all we ordered was a steak burger with fries, chili (which came out cold) and cole slaw. Our waitress was nice, but not very attentive - luckily another waitress (Thalia, the sweet waitress who served the groups who were seated long after us) came to assist when I found a hair on my plate. I have had bad service before, but this took it to a whole new level. We were seated promptly when we arrived. Then just sat there for 10 minutes until we had to wave a waitress over. The store was barely occupied, maybe 10 tables at best. The waitress comes over, takes the order and leaves. We wait another 15 minutes and nothing happens. No water, no placemats, no silverware. Well about 10 minutes after we had ordered another party sat at the table across from us. Within 5 minutes, they had ordered and thier drinks arrived. We were so upset, we got up, told the manager and walked out. The manager followed us out offering to comp a meal for us, but we had no interest in eating there. This service was unforgiveable. To totally ignore a customer for that long is just poor training, and this store needs to be checked by a district manager. read more

Only one word comes to mind when I think about my experience at Steak 'n Shake: abysmal. In fact, my experience was so astonishingly and thoroughly terrible that I actually felt that this needs to be shared and I am not one to waste my time dwelling. Walking in through the front door, we were immediately greeted by the backsides of cramped customers simply trying to get a seat. Being busy isn't something that can be helped and with an entry into the diner so small, this wasn't all that unusual. After waiting a few minutes listening to the front door screech shut upon the entry of every new customer, we were seated at a booth and we were given a few more minutes to deliberate on what to eat. After taking our orders, we received our food from Hailey a relatively short while later. Fortunately, my order was prepared and presented correctly. As for Kerrisa, she received her food but Hailey accidentally forgot the dipping sauce. Oops! She asks, "What did you want again?" Kerrisa tells her that she wants Buffalo dipping sauce. This was the last time we would see Hailey for another 45 minutes. Shortly after her leaving, we notice that not only was our food delivered, but our check as well. We have a two year old and had planned on ordering shakes afterwards and while this made it slightly more inconvenient on us, that's not important. By slapping down the check with the food, you are basically telling your customers PLEASE LEAVE. This set a pretty bad tone for the remainder of the meal but was nowhere near as infuriating as seeing what was given to Avery. The "Mini corn dogs" Avery received were so black there was no possible way they were even remotely edible. I was so shocked at the sight of what was on this plate that I wondered if things could possibly get any worse! Yes. And as it would turn out, it did. Flagging Hailey down to remind her of the sauce she had now forgotten twice, Kerrisa finally manages to get her sauce a full 45 minutes after receiving our food. Meanwhile, I had gone up to the bar to order another kids meal to go. The cashier was trying to ring up a gentleman at the bar when his order fell short of the total required to utilize the coupon he had given her. Naturally, the cashier calls over the manager who apologizes and takes care of the guy. This ordeal lasted a few minutes and while the manager was taking care of the other customer, the cashier asked me what I wanted. I tell her that I wanted to order a kid's chicken finger meal to which she promptly responds with, "I can't help you." followed by a swift exit from the building. She had actually walked out because of the other customer and didn't even bother to help me despite my patience and consideration for her situation. Rude, but the surprise factor had long since passed with the fading of my expectations. I was expecting things to go exactly the way they had. Fortunately, the manager takes my order and I am able to pay for and sign off on the transaction (as apparently a $3 order requires a signature on a debit transaction here). Having not received a receipt from the manager, I assumed that the order would simply be handled with haste. Nothing could be further from the truth. As it would turn out, I would NEVER IN MY ENTIRE 90 MINUTE STAY receive the kid's chicken finger meal that I paid for. Having to hear the servers in this establishment (namely Hailey) complain about how busy it was all while NOT EVEN ONCE bothering to come to our table (to provide refills or see if there was anything else we needed) was fuel to the fire. It became very evident after an hour into our meal that we would not be receiving service at all. Apparently the servers dealt with being busy by shirking their job responsibilities and eating behind the fountain machines. This seemed to work wonders but was more or less corroborative with everything else we had experienced and really only served to encourage people to walk out. I suppose that's one way to deal with being busy. It was an hour into our meal that Kerrisa decided to speak with a manager and complain. Our bill (without the $3 chicken fingers that I would never get) was $14 but the manager gave Kerrisa a free milkshake, knocked our bill down to $8, (again, before the chicken fingers that I had already paid for) and assured us that he would check on our chicken fingers. After waiting roughly 5 minutes, he came back and said they were not ready yet. Another 25 minutes later and we would still not see our kid's chicken finger meal. Our 2 year old would just have to eat somewhere else because evidently her kind isn't welcome. Jokes aside, you would think that they might be a little more considerate knowing that the food is for a child. Thinking about it now, they were probably doing us a favor by not giving us whatever garbage they pulled out from the disgusting corner of the kitchen that these "Mini corn dogs" came from. Years ago, this was a great diner. Now, I would advise avoiding at all costs. read more

My daughter and stopped at the drive thru last evening and we were very disappointed! We both ordered something with fries. I noticed that my fries were extremely greasy and so I pulled over under a light only to discover that half the fry holder was filled with oil. Threw it in the trash immediately and my daughter wouldn't eat her fries. It was a gross turnoff. I waited until I got home to eat my burger, only to discover that it wasn't the way I ordered it. Dirty, EVERY table was dirty, even the witress commented on how no table was wiped down, sat at a booth that had some crumbs and hair on it, ordered some shakes, burgers, fries and chilie, asked to have fresh fries and a thick shake, waitress said that she would make sure the shake was thick. One shake was complete liquid, the fries were cold both burgers were cold. Sent one back and they made fresh hot food. Ordered a bowel of chilie, paid 4 bucks for like 8 spoon fills of chile, the cup of chili's had the same exact amount but was on a plate instead of in a cup but is 2 bucks more...and the cheese was ice cold on the Chile...HORRIBLE.....Nothing like paying $30 for cold, old food that is prepared HORRIBLY and sitting in a dirty booth full of crumbs and HAIR on the table......this stake and shake makes AWEFUL FOOD. LATE AT NIGHT. The messed up part is that it took 15 minutes to get our food yet we heard constant grilling of meat as we waited and the meat in the burgers were cold the first time... It was at around 11pm and only looked like 2, maybe 3 people were working in the dinning room and kitchen....most likely over worked employees and a manger not doing their job.... read more

This was the WORST drive thru experience i have ever had. It took 45 MINUTES. I ordered 2 fish sandwich meals (Whish I requested have pickles and onion added to them both) both with chocolate banana milkshakes. And a kids grilled cheese. After waiting all that time and using almost a quarter tank of gas. I got home and the cheese on the grilled cheese wasn't melted, the fish sandwiches had NOTHING on them and my milkshake had an intact half of banana sitting in the bottom. Just left this place. Good burger. Horrible chicken sandwich. Chicken had fake grill marks. Provably microwaved. Had to ask twice for my shake (two different waitresses) each one told me they'll bring it out when its made. WTF? We finished our meals before the shake arrived so we told the waitress to just cancel it. It magically showed up as we were about to leave. She gave it to us in a to go cup and told us she took it off the bill. She said her manager would make sure they would have more staff on hand next time. Lack of staff was not their biggest issue.
