If you value your time at all, please DO NOT go here. Where can I start? First of all, I have NO idea what was so funny about me asking if they had buffalo sauce for the chicken fingers....like what, am I missing something? Then we had to wait like half an hour for food...I totally forgot this was a drive thru. Was told to pull up to wait for my food after paying, but I was the third car in line because of how slow they are. If I pulled up, there would've been no space for anyone behind me to reach the window...so I decided to pull into a parking space in view of the window. Dude finally comes out with our food trying to tell me it was so late because they gave the food to the wrong car and that I should've pulled right up....bro there was literally NO space because y'all have your damn drive thru backed all the way up! The only reason it took so long is because you're slow...not my fault! The food is decent, but definitely not worth the wait, definitely not coming here again. read more

If I could give zero stars, I would. Couldn't tell you how the food is. After two tables getting sat after us and their waitresses went to take their drink orders and we were still sitting there without any acknowledgment whatsoever. We waited 10 minutes before we started to walk out. As we were getting out of the booth a waitress came over as if nothing happened. We still left. Considering the table in front of us was having trouble with them making her burger right and they forgot her onion rings not just once, but twice. I could foresee issues. We were seated at table that was dirty as we watched the waitress look right down and cover the table up with a placemat and menus. After asked to have the table cleaned she finally moved us. Then I watched another waitress cleaning a table that someone just ate and take unused silverware and place it with new clean stuff. WTF! None of the people look remotely happy to be their working. The boy working the drive thru was COMPLETELY RUDE! Told us to "feel free to never come back" when we waited to place our order for over 5 minutes with repeated attempts to see if someone was going to come back! As we pulled around to go to McDonald's instead, he told us to go F... ourselves and gave us the finger! When my husband went in to tell the manager, the boy came out from behind the counter and acted like he wanted to fight with him! Completely unacceptable! The manager actually told my husband to stop swearing and he was only telling him what his employee said to us! I've never been so appalled. Nothing to write home about. Food is always just warm out of the kitchen; and the fries lose heat VERY quickly! Server omitted one of our meals on her ticket(there were just 3 of us). Heard another customer opposite complaining vigoursly about food being "over salted"; and the manager took said food off the check. The A/C could be dialled down a notch or 3 as it doesn't help when people have to go grab a sweater from the car! The food also suffers from heat loss due to extreme A/C! If there were a minus block the Steak n Shake in Mentor Ohio would have been awarded just that ! 5 of us ate at the Diamond Center location today, Mon., July 20 at approx. 4 15 pm. 3 Grandchildren, Grandma and a friend. The server was nice, but quite dizzy. She forgot so many things we needed and ran back & forth after we asked. We all had burgers, with the exception of an order for a grilled cheese and applesauce for 1 person. We had a full table of milkshakes. We loaded into the car and about 15 minutes later, everyone had a terrible stomach ache ! Perhaps it was the grease that the fries are cooked in, or tainted burger, but whatever it was it took its toll on all of us ! Terrible stomach pains, diarrhea, and nausea. WHAT A WAY TO SPEND THE DAY FOR DINNER, ILL ! THIS IS NOT A VIRUS, IT WAS THE FOOD, BECAUSE ALL 5 OF US GOT ILL ! ~ As I type this, my stomach STILL aches. :-( I didn't need to pay for "pain." It is now 11 43 pm, and my stomach still hurts badly. SOMETHING WAS NOT RIGHT WITH THAT FOOD, OR SOMETHING WAS NOT "FRESH." BOTH of my Granddaughters got sick, who are 18 and 3.5 years. I'm not a huge fan of fast food burger places, but Steak 'n Shake is the exception. They are open 24hrs a day so its great for the late night meal if you need it. Prices are great you can get a burger and fries for under 5 bucks. Def my go to on a night I'm tired, don't want to spend much, or drive out of my way. read more

Stopped in again and they said 40 min wait because drive through was backed up... I saw one car in the drier through and 5 people inside.

I have had some really poor experiences at this location. But as we tend to write only about the bad. Today Jordan whom I think is manager, changed my view and has made me hopeful about this place. Literally the worst and slowest service known to the food industry. I am writing this review while sitting on the post order post pay line. I have no words. There where two different people taking my order at the drive thru, after 10 minutes of waiting and then another 15-20 minutes on the post pay line my food came out to me, but of course without the SHAKES. I understand being from New York we naturally operate at a quicker, more efficient pace. But with that being said this was just absurd. MAYBE if the steak portion of my steak and shake was good I could understand why. You may be thinking why would I wait almost 29 mins for terrible drive-thru? The truth is it got to the point where I needed to see how long this could actually go for. Definitely rating this location a 0/5 stars if I was able to. Absolute worst service I've ever experienced in my life, and overall, I'm very disappointed. First off, the one waitress was mistaken that the four girls that I was with and I were waiting to pay, meanwhile we were waiting to be seated. It took AT LEAST 15-20 minutes. Although she was incorrect and had a misunderstanding, it's unacceptable to make customers wait 15 minutes to pay their bill. Second of all, it took 20 minutes for our waitress to come out and get our drink orders, in which we also ordered our food at the same time. She was very quiet and seemed miserable to be working. It took about 20 minutes to bring out our food, which was understandable because there were a total of 5 orders. However, three people ordered milkshakes and those didn't come out until about 20 minutes after getting our food. Two of those shakes came out five minutes before the other, and the girls drinking them complained that they smelled like sharpies and smelled and tasted very sour, as if the milk that was used was expired. The other people I was with who didn't order those then tried them, and agreed. Before the third shake came out, we got up and went to pay because we had to drive people home by a certain time, and while we were waiting we grew very impatient. It took a solid 30 minutes for someone to check everyone out, and the attitudes from the employees was unacceptable. While we were waiting, there were also 5 other individuals who were also dissatisfied with their food and service. One person noticed that the employee who was making and packaging her food was not wearing gloves or a hairnet, and in between grabbing food, she would touch her phone that is clearly full of germs. That woman's friend said that she found a hair in her grilled cheese. Once someone finally came to the register, I told her that my table was completely disappointed with our visit due to lack of effective service. She didn't seem too concerned at all, and when we told her about our milkshakes and poor service, she called over her manager, who was of even lesser help. We explained to her the sour taste of the milkshakes, in which the manager came over and showed us that the milk was not expired. She had a very snarky, rude, and unconcerned tone, and seemed as if the dissatisfaction of the customers did not matter to her at all. Once the manager walked away, the waitress proceeded to act as if everything that went wrong was our fault. She constantly made excuses as to why the service was so poor, and seemed unconcerned as well. Not only did she do that, but she also refused to ask the manager to take the milkshakes off of the order, considering there was only three sips taken out of each one due to the disgusting taste. She took coupons that were laying on the counter and put those on our bill, which saved us a total of $5 of our $34 bill. Overall, we were very miserable and disappointed and I would not recommend to anyone to go serve at this location. If you want good service with apologetic people, I'd recommend calling the corporate headquarters. read more

I went to the Mentor, OH location with my granddaughter, who loves their shakes. The service was terrible and very slow. That was the best part of my experience. My shake arrived in a glass that had mold around the bottom. I politely asked my server for a replacement and explained why. He dumped the same shake from the moldy glass into a new glass and brought it back. I could tell since my whipped cream and cherry were at the bottom. Then I mentioned it to the cashier who told me there was nothing wrong with it and it was just cookie dust. I can tell you that was not the case. I asked if she would have drank that and she replied, "oh, I do, all the time!" Until they start cleaning their dishes and glasses thoroughly so that nobody gets sick, I will not go back and advise you not to as well! read more

I'm not sure what happened to this store but my family waited almost an hour to get our food, which they delivered to the wrong table, which those people complained it wasn't their food, which they then tried to give it to us after it had been partially eaten and picked through. Barely an apology from the manager or waitress. Almost made us late to the Monsters game in Cleveland. We got there at about a quarter after 5 and left at 6:35 and we only ordered hamburgers and fries!!! This was just wrong on so many levels...... and a waste of time and money. read more

This Steak 'n Shake is in a good location across from the movie theater. I love the milkshakes. The young employees there need to be supervised by an adult. I'm sure some of them are mature, but I went through the drive thru at midnight after work and when I pulled up the employees running the kitchen said they couldn't serve me because the grill was broken. I ordered a milkshake, so a broken grill wasn't an adequate excuse. I asked again and they repeated they wouldn't serve me. There were plenty of people inside the restaurant eating. My co-workers and I stopped for breakfast this morning after our 12 hr shift, we had the worst food and service I've ever had, we had 8 people and were the only people besides maybe 1 other person and to start we had to ask for menus and breakfast wasn't set up and we arrived at 6:15 a.m. so we had to wait to order breakfast but by the time we finally got our drinks we were able to order so I'll continue by seat number.... Seat 1: ordered a 3 way and fries- server almost dropped the bowl on the guest because the plate was hot, meal was not very tasty, fries were good Seat 2: ordered cakes and eggs with chocolate chip pancakes and scrambled cheesy eggs with sausage, server had to come back and ask how many eggs I wanted but menu clearly stated 2 so I said 2, when food came I was served 1 cold chocolate chip pancake (butter didn't even begin melting), burnt scrambled eggs with cheese...told server I needed my other pancake, syrup and sausage.....another server brought my 2nd pancake and syrup about 10 min later....still no sausage, I ate the 2nd pancake and it was good and still hot, never got sausage, was charged for an order of chocolate chip pancakes and 2 eggs and a side of cheese which was over $7 when what I ordered was $4.99, server claimed there was no manager and couldn't fix my ticket so I was stuck paying more then what I ordered and I only ate 1 chocolate chip pancake Seat 3: ordered a milkshake and breakfast potatoes, the milkshake came 10 minutes after the other milkshakes were ordered but other then that all else was good Seat 4: ordered bacon and breakfast potatoes and water, didn't get a water refill til probably almost an hour after we arrived, bacon was greasy Seat 5: ordered milkshake and Coke, finally received Coke after he was done with milkshake and took awhile to get a refill Seat 6: he arrived as our food was being delivered and was never asked if he needed anything and left with us having not gotten any drinks or food which after seeing our food he was ok with missing out Seat 7: ordered cheddar scrambler and pancakes, with a coke, eggs were burnt, hash browns were burnt, pancakes were cold, never got syrup, didn't eat anything and sent it back and still had to pay Seat 8: ordered breakfast bagel sandwich and milkshake, said sandwhich was ok, milkshake was good -server only stood at one end of table and we were expected to pass all food down and dirty glasses back to her -girl came in wearing spaghetti straps tank and hair down and was doing something by grill then left and later returned, I'm assuming she worked there but wasn't in uniform and was in kitchen -we were told there was no manager on duty and our checks couldn't be adjusted even though they were rang up wrong, our food was cold, eggs were burnt Seeing this place has 2 stars none of this is probably that surprising but wanted to share our experience so you don't waste precious sleep time stopping there!!! read more

Yo listen up I get here with my boys at 12 o'clock in the morning after my man Nene tore up the court at the cavaliers game. We all sat down and didn't get our orders taken for half an hour (mind you the restaurant is completely empty). Our food takes another half hour to get there. After waiting 20 minutes in a half full restaurant and watching people being served their orders having been seated after my wife and I, and no explanation from any of the "wait" staff (I didn't know they took the job title literally and meant "make the customer wait") we finally left without even having had a whiff of our order. After no one acknowledging me on the drive thru speaker - I still waited in line thinking I would place my order at the little key hole drive thru window & that maybe my kids would appreciate 3 milk shakes. Started at the drive-thru last evening and when the line hadn't moved in over 5 minutes I parked and went inside to order. Two people ahead of me at the "Takhomasak". The girl at the register was clueless at how to change a $100 bill. Manager (at least I think he was the manager) was trying to walk her through how to open the safe (while flipping burgers - sorry, STEAK burgers). Anyway, now we all know the safe is located under the register. He was barking orders at her on which key opened the safe - "It's the PURPLE one!" When she finally took care of the two people ahead of me, I tried to give her my take out order when a gentleman who had been sitting quietly at the counter finally said to her "I was here before any of these people and you have completely ignored me." She didn't apologize, just asked him what he wanted. After he placed his order I asked her how long she thought it would take for MY order because I was now approaching 20 minutes of my life I will never get back, She said "Honestly, you'd probably do better if you went through the drive thru." Giving it 2 stars because our waitress was nice. My boyfriend and I went in tonight (Monday night, 1am). There were 2 tables with 3-5 people at each almost done eating. We decide to stay and order. After 25 minutes of no food there only bring us and a new table with 3 people at it my boyfriend wanted to leave. We ask the waitress what's going on and she says "they got slammed in the drive thru" (honestly not that many cars).
