Our first visit to Pickle Bill's was on Father's Day. The restaurant was packed and there was a 1.5 hour wait for a table of 4 or more. Fortunately we had 2 people and only waited 30 min. While waiting we enjoyed cocktails in the 3d floor bar. The decor throughout the building were fun and hilarious. Lots of mannequins dressed in bizarre outfits and posed in various positions. There were even swings at the bar and on the outside patio. There was a bar menu available offering sandwiches including a lobster roll with a cup of lobster bisque. We were seated in the covered patio and served a delicious meal of all-you-can-eat crab legs and walleye and lobster bisques. Food was fresh and served hot. Our Server, Megan was Awesome and kept the crab legs coming. I gave 4 stars since our walleye was delayed and didn't come out until we were almost done eating. Definitely worth a visit. read more

I used to go here as often I could afford to 20 or 30 years ago and haven't been for a while. I was a little daunted by the reviews. I have some family in town and it sounded good so we took them. It was delicious! Service was good. Food was good! View is lovely. My cousin didn't love the shrimp, but I thought they were fine. The lobster was fresh. The fried walleye and perch were excellent. My husband and I drove an hour to dine here. We had an amazing experience from the swings and bar upstairs to the dinner downstairs! The crab legs were amazing as were the crab cakes and sampler platter! Our server Shelby did an amazing job taking care of us! If you go I highly recommend requesting Shelby! We went for lunch- The decor is very beachy and quirky and fun. We ordered Lobster Bisque- and the Landsfall- an Atlantic Cod battered and deep fried sandwich and a Lake Erie Walleye sandwich. The bisque came out nice and hot. It had a nice flavor and a lot of lobster in it. I guess the problem was that it was very thin not thick like a bisque. I would call it more of a soup. My friend and I went to Pickle Bill's for AYCE crab legs! Walking in it felt like I was at a seafood place in Maryland or something! Didn't feel like I was in cleveland haha. Decor was cute (some creepy) but overall gave ship feels! We had to wait about 15-20 mins which wasn't bad. It took a little bit for our server to come to us and get us water but once we put our food order in, it was quick. Crab legs were good. We have loved Pickle Bill's in the past and decided to go there this May for my husband's birthday. We also asked another couple to join us. It was a beautiful sunny day, so we decided to sit outside on the covered deck. We were immediately bombarded with birds that had built nests in the rafters above us. We should have asked to be moved, but hoped it wouldn't continue. But it did. I feared We would have bird droppings in our food as the flew overhead. Our food was just okay, for the price, I expect better. They really need to address the bird issue! That can't be hygienic in a restaurant serving food. I think adding netting overhead so the birds couldn't access the rafters would solve the issue. Sadly, I doubt that we ever go back and I felt bad that we asked another couple to join us in a very disappointing meal! read more

I've been eating at Pickle Bill's for over 30 years, so I I've seen it at its best and worst. The eclectic setting is just one fun aspect of the seafood restaurant. It's certainly got a lot of funky decorations, some related to the sea, and others, well, they're just kooky. Over the years, I have only ever ordered the all-you-can-eat crab legs. Many others in my dining party have sampled other dishes, but I've always been laser-focused on the crab! I'd say 90 percent of the time, my visits to Pickle Bill's have gone well with good service and great food. There are times the service can be slow, especially now that they have reduced hours, and of course, when you've hit your five or six buckets of crab leg refills! All in all, Pickle Bill's offers a fun place to eat dinner on a date or with a group with a variety of options to meet each diner's needs. On Sunday, our group had the all-you-can-eat prime rib, the fried walleye dinner, and several AYCE crab dishes. A nice twist is that for $10 more, you can add a second AYCE to your meal so you can sample some of the other offerings. My brother took me here for a birthday dinner. The waiter was great. The food wasn't that good I had the shrimp and scallop scampy. It wasn't scampy. It came with 4 large shrimp and they were over cooked, the scallops were half size of bay scllops and there was no garlic in the butter sauce. It had a funky flavor due to the tarragon that was sauted in it the portion was very small for what we paid for. The coleslaw had horseradish in it which gave it a weird taste. The crabcakes with the relish sauce was pretty good. I was very disappointed with how much was charged for this small serving of a meal. And my brother gave the waiter a really good tip. If I could give negative stars I would, this place is disgusting! they make make you wait forever, they have off duty Police working and they make the Police Officer move you out of the waiting area because they don't like you actually wait in the waiting area, they want you to go to one of the crappy bars they have so you can spend more money while waiting for a table. The service was terrible from the get go. We sat for 15 minutes before Marisa even came to the table and all she said was "what do you want to drink". No name, no introduction or anything. She never once had a smile on her face and she brought the alcohol drinks first before getting water's and we had to remind her twice to get the waters. Having seen a review on the only in your state site, Pickle Bills has been on my bucket list for a couple years. This past weekend I had the oportunity. By their own admission their signature experience is "all you can eat" and after looking at their menu online and seeing walleye and perch I was all set. I asked for the perch and they no longer did perch! Ok, I'll take all you can eat walleye. Nope they didn't do that either. Loving both perch and walleye I settled for their sampler with perch, walleye and coconut shrimp. My meal arrived. The fish was batter dipped and glistening with grease. The shrimp were pre packaged frozen items available at any run of the mill joint or even fast food. Eating the fish was another disappointment. Every bite required wiping the oil from my fingers and the only flavor present was old oil that should have been changed long ago. I finished the fish but not the shrimp. A major disappointment but that's one more check on my bucket list. I'll not be returning. read more

The kids liked their meals - crab legs for one and a burger for the other. I had the River Platter (Atlantic Cod, Jumbo Shrimp, mussels and scallops). It was a disappointment as it was mostly tasteless. It was supposed to be cooked in a lemon-butter white wine sauce, but instead it sat in some oily water. The shrimp were good, but the mussels didn't taste good, the fish was dry, and the scallops were teeny-tiny and a little tough. It definitely wasn't worth $44 in either the amount of food or taste. The antiques & swings at that upstairs bar were so fun! Our waitress Tina was quick & friendly. We got the crab legs, which were steamed so perfectly the meat came out without a fight. Hmmm. I had really been looking forward to coming here. If you are just going for the ambiance, it will not disappoint. If you're going for the service, it's fine. If you're going for the food, I'm afraid you'll be disappointed. I was here with my parents and my son. We sat inside and had a table near the window, and the view was quite nice. It was not busy on a Friday at lunch and my son enjoyed all of the alligators, scuba divers, mermaids, and other novelties that made up the decor. As for the food, here is the basic rundown: Fried dough with cinnamon butter: pretty good, but I don't like filling up on bread before I eat my meal Lobster bisque: solid with big chunks of lobster, but not exactly a creamy bisque. More of a runny broth than a typical bisque Crab-stuffed mushroom: it is just one big mushroom for like 14 bucks, so I am not sure it is anywhere close to being worth it. The filling is not that great. My mom had a shrimp and fish combo, which was fine, but not stellar. I had the $25 red snapper special. It either could come blackened or with a lemon butter wine sauce. I ordered the latter. But instead it came with just butter in a plastic ramekin. I was told it was lime-butter, but I'm pretty sure it was just normal butter manipulated with food green coloring. It was a weird shade of green that you really don't see in nature. I did not taste any lime. When I warmed up my leftovers the next day it left a messy dark green splotch on top of my fish. My dad ordered the "house special" of the grilled Lake Erie walleye, which was supposed to be grilled and come with the lime butter (i.e. The mint-green food-colored butter) but instead it came fried, and served with tarter sauce. My mom ordered potatoes as her side and my dad ordered the pasta salad. Both of their sides were missing until we asked for them. Drinks: my dad enjoyed his margarita and I enjoyed my mojito. With the tip the bill was around $200. This seems outrageous for lunch for three adults and one child. Speaking of whom, my child had the hot dog. He said it was good. That may have been the best part of our meal. I had a hard time determining the number of stars. Probably more like two stars, but I am being kind and rounding up to three. Eclectic decor and plenty of seating both indoors and outdoors. we sat under the covered potion outdoors as it was a beautiful day. our servers were very attentive as several in the party ordered all you can eat items. They kept them coming until we couldn't handle anymore. Starter was the fried pickles. These had a nice panko crust that was very crisp and had a great crunch. two sauces were served, one was ranch, the other was a unique barbecue ish sauce that complemented the pickle. I had the fish and scallops. The fish was just okay, good flavor, but too much breading for my taste. The scallops were the star of the show! large in size and the perfect amount of breading. Now I know why I have never been here. I heard rumors the service and seating were slow and prices were high. I went with friends and it's as cheesy as advertised. We were told 45 minutes to be sat and an hour and half later we finally got sat. Then once at the table our server was slow. Took drink orders and disappeared. Was 15 minutes before her return without drinks. Then finally got drinks and disappeared again and still didn't take our order. From time sat to order taken 35 minutes. The service was great! We came at a time when it was quiet and not very busy. The food was delicious. The crab cakes were good but need a dipping sauce on the side. My dad got the AYCE crab meal and I got the AYCE coconut shrimp meal. All I can say about those shrimp was that they were the BEST coconut shrimp I've ever had! They were soft, plump and juicy and the breading was neither oily nor greasy and they were perfectly crunchy and tasted like they just came out of the fryer. I had like four plates. Let me start by saying I wouldn't normally leave a review for negative service. However, I want to warn others to avoid them getting scammed like we just did. Received a gift card from family this year for dinner. We decided to wait and use the gift card for our anniversary dinner. We had dinner which was nothing special, you can get similar AYCE crab legs at almost any dive bar. Service was slow although they seem to have their servers also running the bar so it took around 20 minutes to get a refill on crab legs, whatever. The real fun started after the meal though. Went to pay with said gift card and was told it was previously used in March. Well before the gift card was even purchased. Asked to speak with the manager. Ended up speaking with Mary Anne the owner. This lady may be the rudest most unprofessional person I've ever had the displeasure of speaking to. We explained the situation and were told "Your family must've used the gift card already and given you a bad card" and "I don't know what to tell you but I have a bill that needs paid so you better have another form of payment". Realizing that we were getting nowhere we reluctantly paid the bill on a credit card. So either Pickle Bills has staff that are pocketing money and handing out used gift cards, or they have an incompetent owner that is more worried about a bill getting paid than solving the problem and having repeat customers. I would recommend avoiding this place and giving your hard earned money to a local business that respects their customers and serves quality food. This was our first experience and we will never be back. TLDR: Went to pay for meal with gift card. Incompetent and unprofessional owner refused to resolve issue with gift card. Been meaning to get up to Pickle Bill's for the longest time, finally got there today. Cool ambiance right on the Grand River, you could eat outdoors or inside (we chose lt latter). Wife ordered blackened salmon, she was "thumbs up" on her dish. I was gonna order crab legs (AYCE special), but instead I ordered the "Sampler Platter' (walleye, Erie perch and shrimp, all fried). All pretty good, esp the perch. A tad greasy, but hey, it's a fried platter so...there's that. Also ordered some crab cakes on the side, quite scrumptious with generous portions of crab. Our server, OTOH? LOL, if I had a "football team of waitresses", this one would never see the field, never leave the bench. Pokey and inattentive, but we had time to spare so I wasnt fussin bout it. We haven't been here for over 5 years, but wanted to take our friend from out of town some place cool. Definitely some decline in food and service. First, there were tons of bees flying around us the whole time we were eating, and our server didn't offer another table or any concern. Some food was ok, and some were really bad. My wife's shrimp were not cleaned, which was disgusting. Also, my lobster bisque was water thin and terrible. My perch sandwich was ok, and our crab dip appetizer was decent. Very sneaky dishonest billing... party of 6 was charged a 18% gratuity, in addition to a $8.99 "convenience fee" what's that? They charge a cash price, or a credit card price which is 3.5% more... so if your being charged for a 3.5% credit card fee.. what in the world would an $8.99 convenience fee be? This establishment survives off of previous memory's and atmosphere because they're extremely greedy, and mediocre food at best. Sad to see it go downhill so much. read more
